Aaj Bhi Zaynab (SA) Ki Ati He Sada Bhai Hussain (AS)

Keeping screen awake…

aaj bhi zainab ki aati hai sada bhai hussain tera chehra teri aankhein bhool kab payi hussain

Even today, Zaynab's (as) cry is heard: "Oh my brother Husayn (as)! How could I ever forget your face, your eyes, oh Husayn (as)?"

chalte naaqe se giraya khud ko jalti rayt par ghutniyo ke bal mai teri laash tak aayi hussain

From the moving camel, I threw myself onto the burning sand, crawling on my knees until I reached your body, oh Husayn (as)!

bas mai ghabrayi thi khanjar tujhpe chalta dekh

phir kisi mushkil may ghir kar mai na ghabrayi hussain

I only felt such terror, seeing the dagger striking you…

After that, no hardship I faced could ever truly frighten me, oh Husayn (as).

kaun tha jo marne walon may nahi tha khubaru bhoolne baithi to kis kis ki na yaad aayi hussain

Who among those who died there was not handsome and beloved? / When I tried to forget, oh Husayn (as), how many memories flooded back?

beh rahe thay aankh se aansu teri ruqsat ke waqt phir koi aansu na tapka aankh pathrayi hussain

Tears streamed from my eyes at the moment of your farewell… After that, no more tears fell; my eyes had turned to stone, oh Husayn (as).

haath may kooze liye sab aasman takte rahe abr ne ek boodh pani ki na barsayi hussain

With pitchers in hand, everyone kept looking up at the sky, but the clouds never shed a single drop of water, oh Husayn (as)!

door uftada safar se laut kar maine naved thanda pani jab piya bas teri yaad aayi hussain

After returning from that far and arduous journey, Naved... when I drank cold water, only your memory came to me, oh Husayn (as).
