ab mujhe koi sakina nahi kehta baba
No one calls me Sakina (as) anymore, oh Father!
Qaidi kehta hai koi koi yateema baba
Some call me "prisoner," some call me "orphan," oh Father!
mai bayan kaise karun apni musibat tum se
kya karun apne tamachon ki shikayat tum se
sunti hoo dadi ne khaaya tha tamacha baba
ab mujhe koi Sakina nahi kehta baba
How can I even begin to describe my suffering to you?
What do I say, oh Father… how do I tell you about the blows I've received?
I've heard that my grandmother [Fatima (as)] was struck too, oh Father…
But no one calls me Sakina (as) anymore, oh Father!
neel ruqsaron pe beenayi bhi jiski kam ho
umr ho chaar baras aur kamar mein kham ho
aap ne dekhi hai kya aisi zaeefa baba
ab mujhe koi Sakina nahi kehta baba
Her cheeks bruised purple, her eyesight fading…
Only four years old, and already her back bent with pain…
Have you ever seen a child so frail, oh Father?
No one calls me Sakina (as) anymore, oh Father!
khoone baysheer se andaza kiya tha maine
aap ka chehra to pehchan liya tha maine
aap pehchanoge kaise mera chehra baba
ab mujhe koi Sakina nahi kehta baba
From the blood of Hazrat Ali Asghar I knew who you were…
I recognized your face, oh Father!
But how will you recognize my face now, oh Father?
No one calls me Sakina (as) anymore, oh Father…
aap thay door to mai saare sitam sehti rahi
ro padi kufe ke darbar mein mai seh na saki
aap ke saamne jab shimr ne maara baba
ab mujhe koi Sakina nahi kehta baba
When you were far from me, I endured every cruelty that came…
But in the court of Kufa, I broke down and wept, I simply could not bear it!
When Shimr struck you [the killing blow], right before my eyes, oh Father…
Now there is no one left who calls me Sakina (as), oh Father!
