Goonjti shaam-e-gharibaan mein yeh zainab ki sada

added by A

Keeping screen awake…

goonjti shaam e ghariban mein ye zainab ki sada mera koi na raha

na rahe bhai na bete chin gayi meri rida mera koi na raha

Through the desolate Shaam-e-Ghariban, Zaynab's (as) voice echoed, "I have no one left!"

No brothers, no sons remain; my veil of protection has been torn away! I have no one left!

aasre jis ke behen chod ke aayi thi watan

mere parde ka jisay maa ne banaya zaamin

labe darya mere ghazi ke huwe baazu juda

mera koi na raha

He was the one whose support I, his sister, had relied on, leaving my home country.

He whom my mother (Fatima (as)) had made the guarantor of my modesty and protection.

By the river bank, my valiant Ghazi, Abbas (as), had his arms severed!

I have no one left!

wo jo athara baras noori hijabon mein raha

laut ke aaunga mai jis ne tha sughra se kaha

haye barchi se kaleja mere akbar ka chida

mera koi na raha

He who for eighteen years lived in radiant protection

He who had promised Sughra (as), "I will return!"

Alas! My Akbar's (as) heart was pierced by a spear!

I have no one left!

mera ghazi bhi gaya qasim o akbar bhi gaye

hurr sa mehman bhi gaya ibne mazahir bhi gaye

kis ko ghurbat mein sada doo karbala ye to bata

mera koi na raha

My Ghazi, Abbas (as), is also gone; Qasim (as) and Akbar (as) are also gone!

A guest like Hurr (as) is also gone; Ibn-e-Mazahir (as) is also gone!

In this desolate state, Karbala, tell me, whom shall I call out to?

I have no one left!

maa ne maqtal mein jise dil ko sambhalay bheja

mere qasim ka badan dasht mein pamaal hua

baal khole huwe roti hui laashe pe kaha

mera koi na raha

He whom his mother sent to the battlefield, barely able to hold her own heart together

My Qasim's (as) body was trampled in the desert!

With her hair disheveled, weeping, she cried out over the body…

I have no one left!

wo sakina ke jisay pyaar tha baba se bada

baad baba ke mili jisko tamachon ki saza

dur jo zaalim ne utaare khoon aankhon se baha

mera koi na raha

That Sakina (as), who loved her father so very much!

After her father's Husayn's (as) martyrdom, she was subjected to the punishment of slaps!

When the oppressor snatched her earrings, blood flowed from her eyes!

I have no one left!

goonjti shaam e ghariban mein ye zainab ki sada mera koi na raha

na rahe bhai na bete chin gayi meri rida mera koi na raha

Through the desolate Shaam-e-Ghariban, Zaynab's (as) voice echoed, "I have no one left!"

No brothers, no sons remain; my veil of protection has been torn away! I have no one left!
