Haq ka irfaan jo paaya, to Ali yaad aaya
Dil mein Qur'an samaya to Ali yaad aaya
When I found true recognition of divine truth, Ali (as) came to mind.
When the Qur'an became absorbed in my heart, Ali (as) came to mind.

Aadam-o-Nooh payamber ho ya Hazrat Esa
Younus-o-Khizar ho Ilyas keh Hazrat Mosa
Waqt inn par bhi jo aaya tu Ali yaad aaya
Whether it was Prophet Adam (as) or Noah (as), or even Prophet Jesus (as)
Or Younus (as), Khizar (as), Ilyas (as), or Prophet Moses (as)…
When a difficult time came upon even them, Ali (as) came to mind.

Apne ghar se mein chala karke iraada hajj ka
Thi ye niyyat ke karunga mein tawaafe Kaaba
Kaaba jab saamne aaya to Ali yaad aaya
I set out from my home with the intention of performing Hajj
My sole purpose was to circumambulate the Kaaba.
But when the Kaaba came into view, Ali (as) came to mind!

Jism ke aik se do tukray barabar dekhey
Khoon ki barsaat hui urtay huye sar dekhey
Ran mein Abbas jab aaya tu Ali yaad aaya
I saw bodies being perfectly split into two halves
A rain of blood fell, and I saw heads flying.
When Abbas (as) entered the battlefield, Ali (as) came to mind!

Naiza-o-teer-o-tabar kya koi khanjar na mila
Lakh dhoonda kahin kuffar ka lashkar na mila
Saaf maidaan nazar aaya tu Ali yaad aaya
There was no spear, no arrow, no axe, not even a dagger to be found!
I searched everywhere, but no army of disbelievers could be found!
The battlefield appeared completely clear, and Ali (as) came to mind!

Youn tu main rakhta raha sare sawaal aur jawab
Par nakerain ne turbat mein mujhe beher-e-hisaab
Aa ke jis waqt jagaya tu Ali yaad aaya
While I was prepared with all my questions and answers
But when the angels of the grave [Munkar and Nakeer] came to me in the tomb for judgment
And woke me up at that very moment, Ali (as) came to mind!

Qalb-e-batil ko kayi tukron mein batay dekha
Takht kya cheez hai darbaar ulattay dekha
Khutba Zainab ne sunaya tu Ali yaad aaya
I saw the heart of falsehood shattered into many pieces
What is a throne? I saw entire courts overturned!
When Zaynab (as) delivered her sermon, Ali (as) came to mind!

The bahaadur toh sabhi, larna nahin jaante the
Sher-e-Yazdan ko bahaadur wo nahin maante the
Unko Marhab ne daraaya to Ali yaad aaya
They were all brave, but they didn't know how to fight!
They didn't consider the Lion of God [Ali (as)] to be brave.
When Marhab terrified them, Ali (as) came to mind!
