Kya raha khaimon mein sheh ke
added by AP
Keeping screen awake…
kya raha khaimon mein sheh ke ek udaasi rah gayi
sirf rone ko muhammad ki nawaasi rah gayi
What remained in the tents after the master Husayn (as)? Only a deep sorrow remained.
Only the granddaughter of the Prophet (pbuh), left alone to weep, remained.
cheenta tha shimr chaadar aur zainab baar baar
apni chaadar ke muhaafiz ko bulaati rah gayi
Shimr tore at the veil of Zaynab (as), again and again
and she kept calling out to the one who had always protected her veil [her brother Abbas (as)].
khoon-e-dil abbas ka sab bah gaya ran mein magar
dil mein bas ek baat zainab ke ridaa ki rah gayi
All of Abbas's (as) heart's blood was spilled on the battlefield
yet one thought stayed with him until the end: the protection of Zaynab's (as) cloak.
ay musalmaano tumhaari ghairatein kya kho gayin
tum tamaashaai the zainab munh chupaati rah gayi
O Muslims, where did your sense of honor go?
You stood and watched while Zaynab (as) kept hiding her face in shame.
qaid mein baali sakina ko mila baaba ka sar
munh pe munh rakh kar jo soyi, maa jagaati rah gayi
In captivity, little Sakina (as) was brought her father's severed head
and she pressed her face to his and fell asleep, while her mother kept trying to wake her.
maadar-e-asghar na baithi saaye mein asghar ke baad
saaye mein aayi to zinda laash baaqi rah gayi
The mother of Ali Asghar (as) could not sit in the shade after losing him
and when she finally did, she was alive but lifeless...
har tamaanche par sakina munh pe rakh kar nanhe haath
neel rukhsaaron ke ghazi ko dikhaati rah gayi
With every slap she received, Sakina (as) raised her tiny hands to cover her face
and she kept showing her bruised cheeks to the brave one [Husayn (as)] [in grief, as if calling out to him].
aa gaye rehaan o sarwar karbala se laut kar
aaj tak khushboo badan mein karbala ki rah gayi
Rehan and Sarwar [the poets, or the travelers] have returned from Karbala
and to this day, the fragrance of Karbala still lingers on their bodies.
