na ab hussain na lashkar hussain ka hoga
sitam uthaane ko bimaar e karbala hoga
Neither Husayn (as) nor Husayn's (as) army will remain now.
Only the sick one of Karbala, [Imam Sajjad (as)], will be left to bear the atrocities.
patakti hongi sar apna furat ki mauje
dhuan jale huwe khaimon se uthh raha hoga
The waves of the Euphrates must be striking their heads [in grief]!
Smoke must be rising from the burnt tents.

Neither Husayn (as) nor Husayn's (as) army will remain now.
zamine garm pe tashna dahan pade honge
saron pe ab koi saayaa na reh gaya hoga
They will be lying on the hot ground, mouths parched.
No shade will be left over their heads now.

Neither Husayn (as) nor Husayn's (as) army will remain now.
kisi ne baaliyaan kaanon ki chhinli hongi
koi tamaache sakina ko maarta hoga
Someone must have snatched away the earrings from their ears.
Someone must be striking Sakina (as) with slaps.

Neither Husayn (as) nor Husayn's (as) army will remain now.
asir hoke nabi zaadiyaan chali hongi
to dil ka haal khuda jaane kya huwa hoga
The Prophet's (pbuh) daughters [and granddaughters] must have been led away as captives.
God only knows what state their hearts must have been in!

Neither Husayn (as) nor Husayn's (as) army will remain now.
lahu shahidon ka dekha jo hoga zainab ne
to dil se pyaas ka ehsas mit gaya hoga
When Zaynab (as) must have seen the blood of the martyrs
The feeling of thirst must have vanished from her heart.

Neither Husayn (as) nor Husayn's (as) army will remain now.
pade hai laash ke tukde kate hai baazu bhi
magar sakinane pehchaan to liya hoga
The pieces of bodies lie scattered, even arms are severed.

abhi nasib men durre hai aur tamaachen hai
abhi sakina ko paani kahaan milaa hoga

abhi sukun munawwar kahaan yatimon ko
abhi to qaide musibat ka saamna hoga
Where will the orphans find peace now, Munawwar?
