lab hilaanay laga tera mola
pyaas mei badduaaein denay lagay
mujh ko shabbir aisa lagta tha
mai ne honto pe kaan rakh ke suna
wo to ghazi ko yaad karta tha

dekhti thi sakina ye manzar
mere haatho mei sheh ki daadhi thi
main rulaata raha usay hans kar
laash e abbas bhi tadapnay lagi
jab tamaancha hussain ko maara
What a a grievous state was upon Husayn (as), the son of Fatima (as)!
Sakina (as) was watching this whole scene
Husayn's (as) beard was in my hands
And she cried, while I laughed!
Even the slain body of Abbas (as) began to tremble
When I struck Husayn (as) with a slap!
