Tum kahaan aayi ho Zaynab is jagaah kohraam hai

Added 2026-07-18 by Abbas P.

Tum kahaan aayi ho Zainab, is jagah kohraam hai

Shaam sajti hai yahaan, yeh to mulk-e-Shaam hai

Where have you come, Zaynab (as)? This place is in uproar!

Here they are celebrating and adorning themselves, for this is the land of Shaam [Damascus, the court of Yazeed].

Jin se chaadar maangti ho, woh to rasta bhi na de

Chaar-su dekho to Bibi, bas sharaabi aam hai

Those from whom you ask for a covering [to restore your dignity] won't even clear a path for you!

Look all around you, my Lady, the drunkards are everywhere!

Tum khabar Aabid ki rakhna, mar na jaaye us ghadi

Shor jis dam yeh uthega: kis ka Zainab naam hai

Please watch over Aabid [Imam Sajjad (as)], keep him close, he may not survive that moment

when they raise this cry: "Who here is known as Zaynab (as)?"

Tum Sakina ko bhi ghar jaane ka na do hausla

Qaidiyon ka mar hi jaana is jagah pe aam hai

And do not let Sakina (as) believe she will ever be going home.

For prisoners to die here, this is nothing unusual!

Yeh to patthar taaziyaane shauq se maare gaye

Aap ki har ek lahu ki boond par in'aam hai

These stones and lashes, they were struck with pleasure, with eagerness!

On every single drop of your blood, they are being rewarded.

Ro ke bolin jaun Bibi: "kyun ladun gi jung mein?"

Kah uthenge Shaam: "Zainab hi to Fateh-e-Shaam hai"

You might cry out in grief, my Lady, "Why should I fight them?"

And all of Sham will answer: "It is Zaynab (as) herself who has conquered Sham!"
