Yaad Aaoge Bhaiya

Added 2026-07-30 by MA

zainab ne kaha kaun hai pardes may mera

kyun jaate ho tum chhod ke bhaiya mujhe tanha

Zaynab (as) cried out, "Who do I have in this strange land, away from home?

Why are you leaving me behind, brother, all alone?"

zainab ko har ek mod pe tadpayegi dunya

yaad aaoge bhaiya

At every turn, the world will cause Zaynab (as) pain…

I will miss you, brother!

baad aapke hoga meri ghurbat ka ye aalam

us waqt ghareebi bhi karegi mera matam

sadaat ko jab raah may dega koi sadqa

yaad aaoge bhaiya

After you are gone, this is what my loneliness will look like…

Even poverty itself will mourn alongside me.

When someone offers charity to the descendants of the Prophet (pbuh) [the Sadat] along the road…

I will miss you, brother!

is maah se mansooob thi bhaiya meri khushiyan

thi sab se badi eid meri teesri shaban

shaban ke jab chand ko dekhegi ye behna

yaad aaoge bhaiya

This month held all my joy, brother…

My greatest celebration was the third of Sha'ban [the birthday of Husayn (as)].

When this sister watches for the crescent moon of Sha'ban…

I will miss you, brother!

itna tha khayaal aap ko parde ka baradar

le jaate thay tum raat ko amma ki lehad par

ab dekhegi zainab ke khule sar ko ye dunya

yaad aaoge bhaiya

You cared so deeply for my modesty, brother…

You would take me at night to visit our mother's (as) [Fatima's (as)] grave.

Now the world will see Zaynab (as) with her head uncovered…

I will miss you, brother!

deedar bhi hojayega beti ke bahane

kya shaam ke zindan may aaoge sulaane

soyegi nahi jab meri lori se sakina

yaad aaoge bhaiya

Perhaps through our daughter [Sakina (as)], I will get to see you again…

Will you come to lull her to sleep in the prison of Damascus?

When Sakina (as) cannot sleep, no matter how I sing to her…

I will miss you, brother!
