بِسْمِ
-
8:1
يَسَْٔلُونَكَ عَنِ
ٱ لْأَنف َالِ ۖ قُلِٱ لْأَنف َالُ لِلَّهِ وَٱ ل رَّسُولِ ۖ فَٱ تَّقُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ وَأَصْلِحُوا۟ ذَاتَ بَيْنِكُمْ ۖ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ إِن ك ُنت ُم م ُّؤْمِنِي نَ ١Yas-aloonaka AAani al-anfali qulial-anfalu lillahi warrasooli fattaqooAllaha waaslihoo thata baynikum waateeAAooAllaha warasoolahu in kuntum mu/mineen
They ask you concerning the anfaal. Say, ‘The anfaal belong to Allah and the Apostle.’ So be wary of Allah and settle your differences, and obey Allah and His Apostle, should you be faithful.Ali Quli Qarai
They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the bounties [of war]. Say, "The [decision concerning] bounties is for Allāh and the Messenger." So fear Allāh and amend that which is between you and obey Allāh and His Messenger, if you should be believers.Saheeh International

8:2
إِ
نّ َمَاٱ لْمُؤْمِنُونَٱ لَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَٱ للَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰ تُهُۥ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَٰ نً ۭا و َعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُو نَ ٢Innama almu/minoona allatheenaitha thukira Allahu wajilat quloobuhum wa-ithatuliyat AAalayhim ayatuhu zadat-hum eemananwaAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloon
The faithful are only those whose hearts tremble [with awe] when Allah is mentioned, and when His signs are recited to them, they increase their faith, and who put their trust in their Lord,Ali Quli Qarai
The believers are only those who, when Allāh is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely -Saheeh International

8:3
ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ
ٱ ل صَّلَو ٰ ةَ وَمِمّ َا رَزَقْ نَٰ هُمْ يُنف ِقُو نَ ٣Allatheena yuqeemoona assalatawamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoon
maintain the prayer and spend out of what We have provided them.Ali Quli Qarai
The ones who establish prayer, and from what We have provided them, they spend.Saheeh International

8:4
أُ
و۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ هُمُٱ لْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّ ۭا ۚ ل َّهُمْ دَرَجَٰ تٌ عِند َ رَبِّهِمْ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ ۭو َرِزْقٌ ۭك َرِي مٌۭ ٤Ola-ika humu almu/minoona haqqanlahum darajatun AAinda rabbihim wamaghfiratun warizqunkareem
It is they who are truly the faithful. They shall have ranks near their Lord, forgiveness and a noble provision.Ali Quli Qarai
Those are the believers, truly. For them are degrees [of high position] with their Lord and forgiveness and noble provision.Saheeh International

8:5
كَم
َآ أَخْرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ ب َيْتِكَ بِٱ لْحَقِّ وَإِنّ َ فَرِيقً ۭا م ِّنَٱ لْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَكَٰ رِهُو نَ ٥Kama akhrajaka rabbuka min baytika bilhaqqiwa-inna fareeqan mina almu/mineena lakarihoon
As your Lord brought you out from your home with a just cause, a part of the faithful were indeed reluctant.Ali Quli Qarai
[It is] just as when your Lord brought you out of your home [for the battle of Badr] in truth, while indeed, a party among the believers were unwilling,Saheeh International

8:6
يُجَ
ٰ دِلُونَكَ فِىٱ لْحَقِّ بَعْدَ مَا تَبَيَّنَ كَأَنَّمَا يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَوْتِ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ ٦Yujadiloonaka fee alhaqqibaAAda ma tabayyana kaannama yusaqoona ilaalmawti wahum yanthuroon
They disputed with you concerning the truth after it had become clear, as if they were being driven towards death as they looked on.Ali Quli Qarai
Arguing with you concerning the truth after it had become clear, as if they were being driven toward death while they were looking on.Saheeh International

8:7
وَإِذْ يَعِدُكُمُ
ٱ للَّهُ إِحْدَىٱ ل طَّا ٓئِفَتَيْنِ أَنّ َهَا لَكُمْ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنّ َ غَيْرَ ذَاتِٱ ل شَّوْكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمْ وَيُرِيدُٱ للَّهُ أَن ي ُحِقَّٱ لْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰ تِهِۦ وَيَقْ طَعَ دَابِرَٱ لْكَٰ فِرِي نَ ٧Wa-ith yaAAidukumu Allahu ihdaatta-ifatayni annaha lakum watawaddoonaanna ghayra thati ashshawkati takoonu lakumwayureedu Allahu an yuhiqqa alhaqqa bikalimatihiwayaqtaAAa dabira alkafireen
When Allah promised you [victory over] one of the two companies, [saying], ‘It is for you,’ you were eager that it should be the one that was unarmed. But Allah desires to confirm the truth with His words, and to root out the faithless,Ali Quli Qarai
[Remember, O believers], when Allāh promised you one of the two groups - that it would be yours - and you wished that the unarmed one would be yours. But Allāh intended to establish the truth by His words and to eliminate the disbelieversSaheeh International

8:8
لِيُحِقَّ
ٱ لْحَقَّ وَيُبْ طِلَٱ لْبَٰ طِلَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَٱ لْمُجْ رِمُو نَ ٨Liyuhiqqa alhaqqa wayubtilaalbatila walaw kariha almujrimoon
so that He may confirm the truth and bring falsehood to naught, though the guilty should be averse.Ali Quli Qarai
That He should establish the truth and abolish falsehood, even if the criminals disliked it.Saheeh International

8:9
إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَ
ٱ سْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ أَنّ ِى مُمِدُّكُم ب ِأَلْفٍ ۢم ِّنَٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةِ مُرْدِفِي نَ ٩Ith tastagheethoona rabbakum fastajabalakum annee mumiddukum bi-alfin mina almala-ikatimurdifeen
When you appealed to your Lord for help, He answered you: ‘I will aid you with a thousand angels in a file.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Remember] when you were asking help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another."Saheeh International

8:10
وَمَا جَعَلَهُ
ٱ للَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْرَىٰ وَلِتَطْ مَئِنّ َ بِهِۦ قُلُوبُكُمْ ۚ وَمَاٱ ل نّ َصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِند ِٱ للَّهِ ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِي مٌ ١٠Wama jaAAalahu Allahu illabushra walitatma-inna bihi quloobukum wama annasruilla min AAindi Allahi inna Allaha AAazeezunhakeem
Allah did not appoint it but as a good news, and to reassure your hearts. Victory comes only from Allah. Indeed Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh made it not but good tidings and so that your hearts would be assured thereby. And victory is not but from Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.Saheeh International

8:11
إِذْ يُغَشِّيكُمُ
ٱ ل نّ ُعَاسَ أَمَنَةً ۭم ِّنْهُ وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيْكُم م ِّنَٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ مَا ٓءً ۭل ِّيُطَهِّرَكُم ب ِهِۦ وَيُذْهِبَ عَنك ُمْ رِجْ زَٱ ل شَّيْطَٰ نِ وَلِيَرْبِطَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِٱ لْأَقْ دَا مَ ١١Ith yughashsheekumu annuAAasaamanatan minhu wayunazzilu AAalaykum mina assama-imaan liyutahhirakum bihi wayuthhiba AAankumrijza ashshaytani waliyarbita AAalaquloobikum wayuthabbita bihi al-aqdam
When He covered you with a trance as a [sense of] security from Him, and He sent down water from the sky to purify you with it, and to repel from you the defilement of Satan, and to fortify your hearts, and to make [your] feet steady with it.Ali Quli Qarai
[Remember] when He overwhelmed you with drowsiness [giving] security from Him and sent down upon you from the sky, rain by which to purify you and remove from you the evil [suggestions] of Satan and to make steadfast your hearts and plant firmly thereby your feet.Saheeh International

8:12
إِذْ يُوحِى رَبُّكَ إِلَى
ٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةِ أَنّ ِى مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُوا۟ ٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚ سَأُلْقِى فِى قُلُوبِٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱ ل رُّعْبَ فَٱ ضْرِبُوا۟ فَوْقَٱ لْأَعْنَاقِ وَٱ ضْرِبُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ بَنَا نٍۢ ١٢Ith yoohee rabbuka ilaalmala-ikati annee maAAakum fathabbitoo allatheena amanoosaolqee fee quloobi allatheena kafaroo arruAAba fadriboofawqa al-aAAnaqi wadriboo minhum kulla banan
Then your Lord signaled to the angels: ‘I am indeed with you; so steady the faithful. I will cast terror into the hearts of the faithless. So strike their necks, and strike their every limb joint!’Ali Quli Qarai
[Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip."Saheeh International

8:13
ذَ
ٰ لِكَ بِأَنّ َهُمْ شَا ٓقُّوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ ۚ وَمَن ي ُشَاقِقِٱ للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنّ َٱ للَّهَ شَدِيدُٱ لْعِقَا ب ِ ١٣Thalika bi-annahum shaqqoo Allahawarasoolahu waman yushaqiqi Allaha warasoolahufa-inna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqab
That, because they defied Allah and His Apostle. And whoever defies Allah and His Apostle, Allah is indeed severe in retribution.Ali Quli Qarai
That is because they opposed Allāh and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allāh and His Messenger - indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty.Saheeh International

8:14
ذَ
ٰ لِكُمْ فَذُوقُوهُ وَأَنّ َ لِلْكَٰ فِرِينَ عَذَابَٱ ل نّ َا رِ ١٤Thalikum fathooqoohu waannalilkafireena AAathaba annar
‘Taste this, and [know] that for the faithless is the punishment of the Fire.’Ali Quli Qarai
"That [is yours], so taste it." And indeed for the disbelievers is the punishment of the Fire.Saheeh International

8:15
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓ ا۟ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ زَحْفً ۭا ف َلَا تُوَلُّوهُمُٱ لْأَدْ بَا رَ ١٥Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha laqeetumu allatheena kafaroo zahfan falatuwalloohumu al-adbar
O you who have faith! When you encounter the faithless advancing [for battle], do not turn your backs [to flee] from them.Ali Quli Qarai
O you who have believed, when you meet those who disbelieve advancing [in battle], do not turn to them your backs [in flight].Saheeh International
-
8:16
وَم
َن ي ُوَلِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ۢد ُبُرَهُۥٓ إِلَّا مُتَحَرِّفً ۭا ل ِّقِتَالٍ أَوْ مُتَحَيِّزًا إِلَىٰ فِئَةٍ ۢف َقَدْ بَا ٓءَ بِغَضَبٍ ۢم ِّنَٱ للَّهِ وَمَأْوَىٰ هُ جَهَنّ َمُ ۖ وَبِئْسَٱ لْمَصِي رُ ١٦Waman yuwallihim yawma-ithin duburahuilla mutaharrifan liqitalin aw mutahayyizanila fi-atin faqad baa bighadabin mina Allahiwama/wahu jahannamu wabi/sa almaseer
Whoever turns his back [to flee] from them that day—unless [he is] diverting to fight or retiring towards another troop—shall certainly earn Allah’s wrath, and his refuge shall be hell, an evil destination.Ali Quli Qarai
And whoever turns his back to them on such a day, unless swerving [as a strategy] for war or joining [another] company, has certainly returned with anger [upon him] from Allāh, and his refuge is Hell - and wretched is the destination.Saheeh International

8:17
فَلَمْ تَ
قْ تُلُوهُمْ وَلَٰ كِنّ َٱ للَّهَ قَتَلَهُمْ ۚ وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَٰ كِنّ َٱ للَّهَ رَمَىٰ ۚ وَلِيُبْ لِىَٱ لْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلَا ٓءً حَسَنًا ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِي مٌۭ ١٧Falam taqtuloohum walakinna Allahaqatalahum wama ramayta ith ramayta walakinnaAllaha rama waliyubliya almu/mineena minhu balaanhasanan inna Allaha sameeAAun AAaleem
You did not kill them; rather, it was Allah who killed them; and you did not throw when you threw, rather, it was Allah who threw, that He might test the faithful with a good test from Himself. Indeed Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.Ali Quli Qarai
And you did not kill them, but it was Allāh who killed them. And you threw not, [O Muḥammad], when you threw, but it was Allāh who threw that He might test the believers with a good test. Indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.Saheeh International

8:18
ذَ
ٰ لِكُمْ وَأَنّ َٱ للَّهَ مُوهِنُ كَيْدِٱ لْكَٰ فِرِي نَ ١٨Thalikum waanna Allaha moohinukaydi alkafireen
Such is the case, and [know] that Allah undermines the stratagems of the faithless.Ali Quli Qarai
That [is so], and [also] that Allāh will weaken the plot of the disbelievers.Saheeh International

8:19
إِ
ن ت َسْتَفْتِحُوا۟ فَقَدْ جَا ٓءَكُمُٱ لْفَتْحُ ۖ وَإِن ت َنت َهُوا۟ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ ۭل َّكُمْ ۖ وَإِن ت َعُودُوا۟ نَعُدْ وَلَن ت ُغْنِىَ عَنك ُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَئًْ ۭا و َلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنّ َٱ للَّهَ مَعَٱ لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ ١٩In tastaftihoo faqad jaakumualfathu wa-in tantahoo fahuwa khayrun lakum wa-intaAAoodoo naAAud walan tughniya AAankum fi-atukum shay-an walawkathurat waanna Allaha maAAa almu/mineen
If you sought a verdict, the verdict has certainly come to you; and if you cease [your belligerence against the Prophet and his followers], it is better for you, but if you resume, We [too] shall return and your troops will never avail you though they should be ever so many, and [know] that Allah is with the faithful.Ali Quli Qarai
If you [disbelievers] seek the decision [i.e., victory] - the decision [i.e., defeat] has come to you. And if you desist [from hostilities], it is best for you; but if you return [to war], We will return, and never will you be availed by your [large] company at all, even if it should increase; and [that is] because Allāh is with the believers.Saheeh International

8:20
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓ ا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَنت ُمْ تَسْمَعُو نَ ٢٠Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahu wala tawallawAAanhu waantum tasmaAAoon
O you who have faith! Obey Allah and His Apostle, and do not turn away from him while you hear [him].Ali Quli Qarai
O you who have believed, obey Allāh and His Messenger and do not turn from him while you hear [his order].Saheeh International

8:21
وَلَا تَكُونُو
ا۟ كَٱ لَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُو نَ ٢١Wala takoonoo kallatheenaqaloo samiAAna wahum la yasmaAAoon
Do not be like those who say, ‘We hear,’ though they do not hear.Ali Quli Qarai
And do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear.Saheeh International
-
8:22
۞ إِ
نّ َ شَرَّٱ ل دَّوَا ٓبِّ عِند َٱ للَّهِٱ ل صُّمّ ُٱ لْبُكْمُٱ لَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُو نَ ٢٢Inna sharra addawabbi AAindaAllahi assummu albukmu allatheena layaAAqiloon
Indeed the worst of beasts in Allah’s sight are the deaf and dumb who do not exercise their reason.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allāh are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason [i.e., the disbelievers].Saheeh International

8:23
وَلَوْ عَلِمَ
ٱ للَّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرً ۭا ل َّأَسْمَعَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ أَسْمَعَهُمْ لَتَوَلَّوا۟ وَّهُم م ُّعْرِضُو نَ ٢٣Walaw AAalima Allahu feehim khayranlaasmaAAahum walaw asmaAAahum latawallaw wahum muAAridoon
Had Allah known any good in them, He would have surely made them hear, and were He to make them hear, surely they would turn away, being disregardful.Ali Quli Qarai
Had Allāh known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing.Saheeh International

8:24
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱ سْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ ۖ وَٱ عْلَمُوٓ ا۟ أَنّ َٱ للَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَٱ لْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِۦ وَأَنّ َهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُو نَ ٢٤Yaayyuha allatheena amanooistajeeboo lillahi walirrasooli itha daAAakumlima yuhyeekum waAAlamoo anna Allahayahoolu bayna almar-i waqalbihi waannahu ilayhi tuhsharoon
O you who have faith! Answer Allah and the Apostle when he summons you to that which will give you life. Know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that toward Him you will be mustered.Ali Quli Qarai
O you who have believed, respond to Allāh and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allāh intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered.Saheeh International

8:25
وَ
ٱ تَّقُوا۟ فِتْنَةً ۭل َّا تُصِيبَنّ َٱ لَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنك ُمْ خَا ٓصَّةً ۭۖ و َٱ عْلَمُوٓ ا۟ أَنّ َٱ للَّهَ شَدِيدُٱ لْعِقَا ب ِ ٢٥Wattaqoo fitnatan la tuseebannaallatheena thalamoo minkum khassatanwaAAlamoo anna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqab
And beware of a punishment, which shall not visit the wrongdoers among you exclusively, and know that Allah is severe in retribution.Ali Quli Qarai
And fear a trial which will not strike those who have wronged among you exclusively, and know that Allāh is severe in penalty.Saheeh International
-
8:26
وَ
ٱ ذْكُرُوٓ ا۟ إِذْ أَنت ُمْ قَلِيلٌ ۭم ُّسْتَضْعَفُونَ فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ تَخَافُونَ أَن ي َتَخَطَّفَكُمُٱ ل نّ َاسُ فََٔاوَىٰ كُمْ وَأَيَّدَكُم ب ِنَصْرِهِۦ وَرَزَقَكُم م ِّنَٱ ل طَّيِّبَٰ تِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُو نَ ٢٦Wathkuroo ith antumqaleelun mustadAAafoona fee al-ardi takhafoonaan yatakhattafakumu annasu faawakumwaayyadakum binasrihi warazaqakum mina attayyibatilaAAallakum tashkuroon
Remember when you were few, abased in the land, and feared lest the people should despoil you, and He gave you refuge, and strengthened you with His help, and provided you with all the good things so that you may give thanks.Ali Quli Qarai
And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land, fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things - that you might be grateful.Saheeh International

8:27
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَخُونُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ وَٱ ل رَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوٓ ا۟ أَمَٰ نَٰ تِكُمْ وَأَنت ُمْ تَعْلَمُو نَ ٢٧Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola takhoonoo Allaha warrasoola watakhoonooamanatikum waantum taAAlamoon
O you who have faith! Do not betray Allah and the Apostle, and do not betray your trusts knowingly.Ali Quli Qarai
O you who have believed, do not betray Allāh and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know [the consequence].Saheeh International

8:28
وَ
ٱ عْلَمُوٓ ا۟ أَنّ َمَآ أَمْوَٰ لُكُمْ وَأَوْلَٰ دُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ ۭو َأَنّ َٱ للَّهَ عِند َهُۥٓ أَجْ رٌ عَظِي مٌۭ ٢٨WaAAlamoo annama amwalukumwaawladukum fitnatun waanna Allaha AAindahu ajrunAAatheem
Know that your possessions and children are only a test, and that Allah—with Him is a great reward.Ali Quli Qarai
And know that your properties and your children are but a trial and that Allāh has with Him a great reward.Saheeh International

8:29
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓ ا۟ إِن ت َتَّقُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ يَجْ عَل لَّكُمْ فُرْقَانً ۭا و َيُكَفِّرْ عَنك ُمْ سَئَِّاتِكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۗ وَٱ للَّهُ ذُوٱ لْفَضْلِٱ لْعَظِي مِ ٢٩Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooin tattaqoo Allaha yajAAal lakum furqananwayukaffir AAankum sayyi-atikum wayaghfir lakum wallahuthoo alfadli alAAatheem
O you who have faith! If you are wary of Allah, He shall appoint a criterion for you, and absolve you of your misdeeds, and forgive you, for Allah is dispenser of a great grace.Ali Quli Qarai
O you who have believed, if you fear Allāh, He will grant you a criterion and will remove from you your misdeeds and forgive you. And Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.Saheeh International

8:30
وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْ تُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ ۚ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُٱ للَّهُ ۖ وَٱ للَّهُ خَيْرُٱ لْمَٰ كِرِي نَ ٣٠Wa-ith yamkuru bika allatheenakafaroo liyuthbitooka aw yaqtulooka aw yukhrijooka wayamkuroonawayamkuru Allahu wallahu khayru almakireen
When the faithless plotted against you to take you captive, or to kill or expel you—they plotted and Allah devised, and Allah is the best of devisers.Ali Quli Qarai
And [remember, O Muḥammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allāh plans. And Allāh is the best of planners.Saheeh International
-
8:31
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَ
ٰ تُنَا قَالُوا۟ قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَا ٓءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَٰ ذَآ ۙ إِنْ هَٰ ذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰ طِيرُٱ لْأَوَّلِي نَ ٣١Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunaqaloo qad samiAAna law nashao laqulnamithla hatha in hatha illa asateerual-awwaleen
When Our signs are recited to them, they say, ‘We have heard already. If we want, we [too] can say like this. These are nothing but myths of the ancients.’Ali Quli Qarai
And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, "We have heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is not but legends of the former peoples."Saheeh International
-
8:32
وَإِذْ قَالُو
ا۟ ٱ ل لَّهُمّ َ إِن ك َانَ هَٰ ذَا هُوَٱ لْحَقَّ مِنْ عِند ِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً ۭم ِّنَٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ أَوِٱ ئْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِي مٍۢ ٣٢Wa-ith qaloo allahummain kana hatha huwa alhaqqa min AAindika faamtirAAalayna hijaratan mina assama-iawi i/tina biAAathabin aleem
And when they said, ‘O Allah, if this be the truth from You, rain down upon us stones from the sky, or bring us a painful punishment.’Ali Quli Qarai
And [remember] when they said, "O Allāh, if this should be the truth from You, then rain down upon us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment."Saheeh International
-
8:33
وَمَا كَانَ
ٱ للَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنت َ فِيهِمْ ۚ وَمَا كَانَٱ للَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُو نَ ٣٣Wama kana AllahuliyuAAaththibahum waanta feehim wama kanaAllahu muAAaththibahum wahum yastaghfiroon
But Allah will not punish them while you are in their midst, nor will Allah punish them while they plead for forgiveness.Ali Quli Qarai
But Allāh would not punish them while you, [O Muḥammad], are among them, and Allāh would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.Saheeh International
-
8:34
وَمَا لَهُمْ أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ
ٱ للَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِٱ لْمَسْجِدِٱ لْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوٓ ا۟ أَوْلِيَا ٓءَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنْ أَوْلِيَا ٓؤُهُۥٓ إِلَّاٱ لْمُتَّقُونَ وَلَٰ كِنّ َ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُو نَ ٣٤Wama lahum alla yuAAaththibahumuAllahu wahum yasuddoona AAani almasjidi alharamiwama kanoo awliyaahu in awliyaohu illaalmuttaqoona walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoon
What [excuse] have they that Allah should not punish them, when they bar [the faithful] from the Holy Mosque, and they are not its custodians? Its custodians are only the Godwary, but most of them do not know.Ali Quli Qarai
But why should Allāh not punish them while they obstruct [people] from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām and they were not [fit to be] its guardians? Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know.Saheeh International
-
8:35
وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِ
ند َٱ لْبَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَا ٓءً ۭو َتَصْدِيَةً ۭۚ ف َذُوقُوا۟ ٱ لْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنت ُمْ تَكْفُرُو نَ ٣٥Wama kana salatuhumAAinda albayti illa mukaan watasdiyatan fathooqooalAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroon
Their prayer at the House is nothing but whistling and clapping. So taste the punishment because of what you used to defy.Ali Quli Qarai
And their prayer at the House [i.e., the Kaʿbah] was not except whistling and handclapping. So taste the punishment for what you disbelieved [i.e., practiced of deviations].Saheeh International

8:36
إِ
نّ َٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُنف ِقُونَ أَمْوَٰ لَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّوا۟ عَن س َبِيلِٱ للَّهِ ۚ فَسَيُنف ِقُونَهَا ثُمّ َ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً ۭث ُمّ َ يُغْلَبُونَ ۗ وَٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓ ا۟ إِلَىٰ جَهَنّ َمَ يُحْشَرُو نَ ٣٦Inna allatheena kafaroo yunfiqoonaamwalahum liyasuddoo AAan sabeeli Allahifasayunfiqoonaha thumma takoonu AAalayhim hasratanthumma yughlaboona wallatheena kafaroo ilajahannama yuhsharoon
Indeed the faithless spend their wealth to bar from the way of Allah. Soon they will have spent it, then it will be a cause of regret to them, then they will be overcome, and the faithless will be gathered toward Hell,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allāh. So they will spend it; then it will be for them a [source of] regret; then they will be overcome. And those who have disbelieved - unto Hell they will be gathered.Saheeh International

8:37
لِيَمِيزَ
ٱ للَّهُٱ لْخَبِيثَ مِنَٱ ل طَّيِّبِ وَيَجْ عَلَٱ لْخَبِيثَ بَعْضَهُۥ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۢف َيَرْكُمَهُۥ جَمِيعً ۭا ف َيَجْ عَلَهُۥ فِى جَهَنّ َمَ ۚ أُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ هُمُٱ لْخَٰ سِرُو نَ ٣٧Liyameeza Allahu alkhabeetha mina attayyibiwayajAAala alkhabeetha baAAdahu AAala baAAdinfayarkumahu jameeAAan fayajAAalahu fee jahannama ola-ikahumu alkhasiroon
so that Allah may separate the bad ones from the good, and place the bad on one another, and pile them up together, and cast them into hell. It is they who are the losers.Ali Quli Qarai
[It is] so that Allāh may distinguish the wicked from the good and place the wicked some of them upon others and heap them all together and put them into Hell. It is those who are the losers.Saheeh International

8:38
قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَر
ُوٓ ا۟ إِن ي َنت َهُوا۟ يُغْفَرْ لَهُم م َّا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِن ي َعُودُوا۟ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنّ َتُٱ لْأَوَّلِي نَ ٣٨Qul lillatheena kafaroo in yantahooyughfar lahum ma qad salafa wa-in yaAAoodoo faqad madatsunnatu al-awwaleen
Say to the faithless, if they cease [their belligerence against the Muslims], what is already past shall be forgiven them. But if they resume [their hostilities], then the precedent of the predecessors has already come to pass.Ali Quli Qarai
Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. But if they return [to hostility] - then the precedent of the former [rebellious] peoples has already taken place.Saheeh International
-
8:39
وَقَ
ٰ تِلُوهُمْ حَتَّىٰ لَا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ ۭو َيَكُونَٱ ل دِّينُ كُلُّهُۥ لِلَّهِ ۚ فَإِنِٱ نت َهَوْا۟ فَإِنّ َٱ للَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ بَصِي رٌۭ ٣٩Waqatiloohum hatta latakoona fitnatun wayakoona addeenu kulluhu lillahifa-ini intahaw fa-inna Allaha bima yaAAmaloona baseer
Fight them until persecution is no more, and religion becomes exclusively for Allah. So if they desist, Allah indeed watches what they do.Ali Quli Qarai
And fight against them until there is no fitnah and [until] the religion [i.e., worship], all of it, is for Allāh. And if they cease - then indeed, Allāh is Seeing of what they do.Saheeh International
-
8:40
وَإِ
ن ت َوَلَّوْا۟ فَٱ عْلَمُوٓ ا۟ أَنّ َٱ للَّهَ مَوْلَىٰ كُمْ ۚ نِعْمَٱ لْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَٱ ل نّ َصِي رُ ٤٠Wa-in tawallaw faAAlamoo anna Allahamawlakum niAAma almawla waniAAma annaseer
But if they turn away, then know that Allah is your master: an excellent master and an excellent helper!Ali Quli Qarai
But if they turn away - then know that Allāh is your protector. Excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.Saheeh International
-
8:41
۞ وَ
ٱ عْلَمُوٓ ا۟ أَنّ َمَا غَنِمْتُم م ِّن شَىْءٍ ۢف َأَنّ َ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُۥ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِىٱ لْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱ لْيَتَٰ مَىٰ وَٱ لْمَسَٰ كِينِ وَٱ بْ نِٱ ل سَّبِيلِ إِن ك ُنت ُمْ ءَامَنت ُم ب ِٱ للَّهِ وَمَآ أَنز َلْنَا عَلَىٰ عَبْ دِنَا يَوْمَٱ لْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَٱ ل ْتَقَىٱ لْجَمْعَانِ ۗ وَٱ للَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۢق َدِي رٌ ٤١WaAAlamoo annama ghanimtummin shay-in faanna lillahi khumusahu walirrasooliwalithee alqurba walyatama walmasakeeniwabni assabeeli in kuntum amantum billahiwama anzalna AAala AAabdina yawmaalfurqani yawma iltaqa aljamAAani wallahuAAala kulli shay-in qadeer
Know that whatever thing you may come by, a fifth of it is for Allah and the Apostle, for the relatives and the orphans, for the needy and the traveller, if you have faith in Allah and what We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Separation, the day when the two hosts met; and Allah has power over all things.Ali Quli Qarai
And know that anything you obtain of war booty - then indeed, for Allāh is one fifth of it and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and the orphans, the needy, and the [stranded] traveler, if you have believed in Allāh and in that which We sent down to Our Servant on the day of criterion [i.e., decisive encounter] - the day when the two armies met [at Badr]. And Allāh, over all things, is competent.Saheeh International
-
8:42
إِذْ أَ
نت ُم ب ِٱ لْعُدْ وَةِٱ ل دُّنْيَا وَهُم ب ِٱ لْعُدْ وَةِٱ لْقُصْوَىٰ وَٱ ل رَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنك ُمْ ۚ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَد تُّمْ لَٱ خْتَلَفْتُمْ فِىٱ لْمِيعَٰ دِ ۙ وَلَٰ كِن ل ِّيَقْ ضِىَٱ للَّهُ أَمْرً ۭا ك َانَ مَفْعُولً ۭال ِّيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَنۢ ب َيِّنَةٍ ۢو َيَحْيَىٰ مَنْ حَىَّ عَنۢ ب َيِّنَةٍ ۢۗ و َإِنّ َٱ للَّهَ لَسَمِيعٌ عَلِي مٌ ٤٢Ith antum bilAAudwati addunyawahum bilAAudwati alquswa warrakbuasfala minkum walaw tawaAAadtum lakhtalaftum feealmeeAAadi walakin liyaqdiya Allahuamran kana mafAAoolan liyahlika man halaka AAan bayyinatinwayahya man hayya AAan bayyinatin wa-innaAllaha lasameeAAun AAaleem
When you were on the nearer side, and they on the farther side, while the caravan was below you, and had you agreed together on an encounter, you would have certainly failed to keep the tryst, but in order that Allah may carry through a matter that was bound to be fulfilled, so that he who perishes might perish by a manifest proof, and he who lives may live on by a manifest proof, and Allah is indeed all-hearing, all-knowing.Ali Quli Qarai
[Remember] when you were on the near side of the valley, and they were on the farther side, and the caravan was lower [in position] than you. If you had made an appointment [to meet], you would have missed the appointment. But [it was] so that Allāh might accomplish a matter already destined - that those who perished [through disbelief] would perish upon evidence and those who lived [in faith] would live upon evidence; and indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.Saheeh International
-
8:43
إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ
ٱ للَّهُ فِى مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلً ۭاۖ و َلَوْ أَرَىٰ كَهُمْ كَثِيرً ۭا ل َّفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَٰ زَعْتُمْ فِىٱ لْأَمْرِ وَلَٰ كِنّ َٱ للَّهَ سَلَّمَ ۗ إِنّ َهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ ب ِذَاتِٱ ل صُّدُو رِ ٤٣Ith yureekahumu Allahu fee manamikaqaleelan walaw arakahum katheeran lafashiltum walatanazaAAtumfee al-amri walakinna Allaha sallama innahuAAaleemun bithati assudoor
When Allah showed them to you as few in your dream, and had He shown them as many, you would have lost heart, and disputed about the matter. But Allah spared you. Indeed He knows well what is in the breasts.Ali Quli Qarai
[Remember, O Muḥammad], when Allāh showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many, you [believers] would have lost courage and would have disputed in the matter [of whether to fight], but Allāh saved [you from that]. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.Saheeh International
-
8:44
وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ
ٱ ل ْتَقَيْتُمْ فِىٓ أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلً ۭاو َيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِىٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْ ضِىَٱ للَّهُ أَمْرً ۭا ك َانَ مَفْعُولً ۭاۗ و َإِلَىٱ للَّهِ تُرْجَعُٱ لْأُمُو رُ ٤٤Wa-ith yureekumoohum ithiiltaqaytum fee aAAyunikum qaleelan wayuqallilukum fee aAAyunihimliyaqdiya Allahu amran kana mafAAoolan wa-ilaAllahi turjaAAu al-omoor
And when He showed them to you as few in your eyes, when you met them [on the battlefield], and He made you [appear] few in their eyes, [it was] in order that Allah may carry through a matter that was bound to be fulfilled, and to Allah all matters are returned.Ali Quli Qarai
And [remember] when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes, and He made you [appear] as few in their eyes so that Allāh might accomplish a matter already destined. And to Allāh are [all] matters returned.Saheeh International
-
8:45
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓ ا۟ إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةً ۭف َٱ ثْبُتُوا۟ وَٱ ذْكُرُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ كَثِيرً ۭا ل َّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُو نَ ٤٥Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha laqeetum fi-atan fathbutoo wathkurooAllaha katheeran laAAallakum tuflihoon
O you who have faith! When you meet a host [in battle], then stand firm, and remember Allah greatly so that you may be felicitous.Ali Quli Qarai
O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allāh much that you may be successful.Saheeh International
-
8:46
وَأَطِيعُو
ا۟ ٱ للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَا تَنَٰ زَعُوا۟ فَتَفْشَلُوا۟ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ ۖ وَٱ صْبِرُوٓ ا۟ ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ مَعَٱ ل صَّٰ بِرِي نَ ٤٦WaateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahuwala tanazaAAoo fatafshaloo watathhaba reehukumwasbiroo inna Allaha maAAa assabireen
And obey Allah and His Apostle, and do not dispute, or you will lose heart and your power will be gone. And be patient; indeed Allah is with the patient.Ali Quli Qarai
And obey Allāh and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allāh is with the patient.Saheeh International
-
8:47
وَلَا تَكُونُو
ا۟ كَٱ لَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا۟ مِن د ِيَٰ رِهِم ب َطَرً ۭا و َرِئَا ٓءَٱ ل نّ َاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن س َبِيلِٱ للَّهِ ۚ وَٱ للَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِي ط ٌۭ ٤٧Wala takoonoo kallatheenakharajoo min diyarihim bataran wari-aa annasiwayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi wallahubima yaAAmaloona muheet
Do not be like those who left their homes vainly and to show off to the people, and to bar [other people] from the way of Allah, and Allah comprehends what they do.Ali Quli Qarai
And do not be like those who came forth from their homes insolently and to be seen by people and avert [them] from the way of Allāh. And Allāh is encompassing of what they do.Saheeh International
-
8:48
وَإِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ
ٱ ل شَّيْطَٰ نُ أَعْمَٰ لَهُمْ وَقَالَ لَا غَالِبَ لَكُمُٱ لْيَوْمَ مِنَٱ ل نّ َاسِ وَإِنّ ِى جَارٌ ۭل َّكُمْ ۖ فَلَمّ َا تَرَا ٓءَتِٱ لْفِئَتَانِ نَكَصَ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنّ ِى بَرِى ٓءٌ ۭم ِّنك ُمْ إِنّ ِىٓ أَرَىٰ مَا لَا تَرَوْنَ إِنّ ِىٓ أَخَافُٱ للَّهَ ۚ وَٱ للَّهُ شَدِيدُٱ لْعِقَا ب ِ ٤٨Wa-ith zayyana lahumu ashshaytanuaAAmalahum waqala la ghaliba lakumualyawma mina annasi wa-innee jarun lakumfalamma taraati alfi-atani nakasaAAala AAaqibayhi waqala innee baree-on minkum inneeara ma la tarawna innee akhafu Allahawallahu shadeedu alAAiqab
When Satan made their deeds seem decorous to them, and said [to the faithless], ‘No one shall overcome you today from among all mankind, and I will stand by you.’ But when the two hosts sighted each other, he took to his heels, saying, ‘Indeed I am quit of you. I see what you do not see. Indeed I fear Allah, and Allah is severe in retribution.’Ali Quli Qarai
And [remember] when Satan made their deeds pleasing to them and said, "No one can overcome you today from among the people, and indeed, I am your protector." But when the two armies sighted each other, he turned on his heels and said, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed, I fear Allāh. And Allāh is severe in penalty."Saheeh International

8:49
إِذْ يَقُولُ
ٱ لْمُنَٰ فِقُونَ وَٱ لَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم م َّرَضٌ غَرَّ هَٰٓ ؤُلَا ٓءِ دِينُهُمْ ۗ وَمَن ي َتَوَكَّلْ عَلَىٱ للَّهِ فَإِنّ َٱ للَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِي مٌۭ ٤٩Ith yaqoolu almunafiqoona wallatheenafee quloobihim maradun gharra haola-ideenuhum waman yatawakkal AAala Allahi fa-inna AllahaAAazeezun hakeem
When the hypocrites said, and [also] those in whose hearts is a sickness, ‘Their religion has deceived them.’ But whoever puts his trust in Allah, then Allah is indeed all-mighty, all-wise.Ali Quli Qarai
[Remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was disease [i.e., arrogance and disbelief] said, "Their religion has deluded those [Muslims]." But whoever relies upon Allāh - then indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.Saheeh International
-
8:50
وَلَوْ تَرَ
ىٰٓ إِذْ يَتَوَفَّىٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۙ ٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْ بَٰ رَهُمْ وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَٱ لْحَرِي ق ِ ٥٠Walaw tara ith yatawaffaallatheena kafaroo almala-ikatu yadriboonawujoohahum waadbarahum wathooqoo AAathaba alhareeq
Were you to see when the angels take away the faithless, striking their faces and their backs, [saying], ‘Taste the punishment of the burning.Ali Quli Qarai
And if you could but see when the angels take the souls of those who disbelieved... They are striking their faces and their backs and [saying], "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire.Saheeh International
-
8:51
ذَ
ٰ لِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَنّ َٱ للَّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلَّٰ مٍ ۢل ِّلْعَبِي د ِ ٥١Thalika bima qaddamat aydeekumwaanna Allaha laysa bithallaminlilAAabeed
That is because of what your hands have sent ahead, and because Allah is not tyrannical to the servants.’Ali Quli Qarai
That is for what your hands have put forth [of evil] and because Allāh is not ever unjust to [His] servants."Saheeh International
-
8:52
كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ مِن ق َبْ لِهِمْ ۚ كَفَرُوا۟ بَِٔايَٰ تِٱ للَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُٱ للَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ قَوِىٌّ ۭش َدِيدُٱ لْعِقَا ب ِ ٥٢Kada/bi ali firAAawna wallatheenamin qablihim kafaroo bi-ayati Allahi faakhathahumuAllahu bithunoobihim inna Allaha qawiyyunshadeedu alAAiqab
Like the precedent of Pharaoh’s clan and those who were before them, who defied Allah’s signs, so Allah seized them for their sins. Indeed Allah is all-strong, severe in retribution.Ali Quli Qarai
[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They disbelieved in the signs of Allāh, so Allāh seized them for their sins. Indeed, Allāh is Powerful and severe in penalty.Saheeh International
-
8:53
ذَ
ٰ لِكَ بِأَنّ َٱ للَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرً ۭا ن ِّعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا۟ مَا بِأَنف ُسِهِمْ ۙ وَأَنّ َٱ للَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِي مٌۭ ٥٣Thalika bi-anna Allaha lamyaku mughayyiran niAAmatan anAAamaha AAala qawmin hattayughayyiroo ma bi-anfusihim waanna Allaha sameeAAunAAaleem
That is because Allah never changes a blessing that He has bestowed on a people unless they change what is in their own souls, and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing:Ali Quli Qarai
That is because Allāh would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves. And indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.Saheeh International

8:54
كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ مِن ق َبْ لِهِمْ ۚ كَذَّبُوا۟ بَِٔايَٰ تِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَٰ هُم ب ِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَغْرَقْ نَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ وَكُلٌّ ۭك َانُوا۟ ظَٰ لِمِي نَ ٥٤Kada/bi ali firAAawna wallatheenamin qablihim kaththaboo bi-ayati rabbihimfaahlaknahum bithunoobihim waaghraqna alafirAAawna wakullun kanoo thalimeen
Like the precedent of Pharaoh’s clan and those who were before them, who denied the signs of their Lord; so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned Pharaoh’s clan; and they were all wrongdoers.Ali Quli Qarai
[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh. And all [of them] were wrongdoers.Saheeh International

8:55
إِ
نّ َ شَرَّٱ ل دَّوَا ٓبِّ عِند َٱ للَّهِٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُو نَ ٥٥Inna sharra addawabbi AAindaAllahi allatheena kafaroo fahum la yu/minoon
Indeed the worst of beasts in Allah’s sight are those who are faithless; so they will not have faith.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allāh are those who have disbelieved, and they will not [ever] believe-Saheeh International

8:56
ٱلَّذِينَ عَ
ٰ هَد تَّ مِنْهُمْ ثُمّ َ يَنق ُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِى كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ ۢو َهُمْ لَا يَتَّقُو نَ ٥٦Allatheena AAahadta minhumthumma yanqudoona AAahdahum fee kulli marratin wahum layattaqoon
—Those with whom you made a treaty, and who violated their treaty every time, and who are not Godwary.Ali Quli Qarai
The ones with whom you made a treaty but then they break their pledge every time, and they do not fear Allāh.Saheeh International

8:57
فَإِ
مّ َا تَثْقَفَنّ َهُمْ فِىٱ لْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِم م َّنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُو نَ ٥٧Fa-imma tathqafannahum fee alharbifasharrid bihim man khalfahum laAAallahum yaththakkaroon
So if you confront them in battle, treat them [in such a wise] as to disperse those who are behind them, so that they may take admonition.Ali Quli Qarai
So if you, [O Muḥammad], gain dominance over them in war, disperse by [means of] them those behind them that perhaps they will be reminded.Saheeh International

8:58
وَإِ
مّ َا تَخَافَنّ َ مِن ق َوْمٍ خِيَانَةً ۭف َٱ نۢب ِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَا ٓءٍ ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّٱ لْخَا ٓئِنِي نَ ٥٨Wa-imma takhafanna min qawminkhiyanatan fanbith ilayhim AAalasawa-in inna Allaha la yuhibbu alkha-ineen
And if you fear treachery from a people, break off [the treaty] with them in a like manner. Indeed Allah does not like the treacherous.Ali Quli Qarai
If you [have reason to] fear from a people betrayal, throw [their treaty] back to them, [putting you] on equal terms. Indeed, Allāh does not like traitors.Saheeh International

8:59
وَلَا يَحْسَبَ
نّ َٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ سَبَقُوٓ ا۟ ۚ إِنّ َهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُو نَ ٥٩Wala yahsabanna allatheenakafaroo sabaqoo innahum la yuAAjizoon
Let the faithless not suppose that they have outmanoeuvred [Allah]. Indeed, they cannot frustrate [His power].Ali Quli Qarai
And let not those who disbelieve think they will escape. Indeed, they will not cause failure [to Allāh].Saheeh International

8:60
وَأَعِدُّو
ا۟ لَهُم م َّاٱ سْتَطَعْتُم م ِّن ق ُوَّةٍ ۢو َمِن ر ِّبَاطِٱ لْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِۦ عَدُوَّٱ للَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِن د ُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُٱ للَّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنف ِقُوا۟ مِن شَىْءٍ ۢف ِى سَبِيلِٱ للَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنت ُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُو نَ ٦٠WaaAAiddoo lahum ma istataAAtummin quwwatin wamin ribati alkhayli turhiboona bihiAAaduwwa Allahi waAAaduwwakum waakhareena mindoonihim la taAAlamoonahumu Allahu yaAAlamuhum wamatunfiqoo min shay-in fee sabeeli Allahi yuwaffa ilaykumwaantum la tuthlamoon
Prepare against them whatever you can of [military] power and war-horses, awing thereby the enemy of Allah, and your enemy, and others besides them, whom you do not know, but Allah knows them. And whatever you spend in the way of Allah will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged.Ali Quli Qarai
And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allāh and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allāh knows. And whatever you spend in the cause of Allāh will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.Saheeh International

8:61
۞ وَإِ
ن ج َنَحُوا۟ لِلسَّلْمِ فَٱ جْ نَحْ لَهَا وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَىٱ للَّهِ ۚ إِنّ َهُۥ هُوَٱ ل سَّمِيعُٱ لْعَلِي مُ ٦١Wa-in janahoo lissalmi fajnahlaha watawakkal AAala Allahi innahu huwa assameeAAualAAaleem
If they incline toward peace, then you [too] incline toward it, and put your trust in Allah. Indeed He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.Ali Quli Qarai
And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allāh. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.Saheeh International

8:62
وَإ
ِن ي ُرِيدُوٓ ا۟ أَن ي َخْدَعُوكَ فَإِنّ َ حَسْبَكَٱ للَّهُ ۚ هُوَٱ لَّذِىٓ أَيَّدَكَ بِنَصْرِهِۦ وَبِٱ لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ ٦٢Wa-in yureedoo an yakhdaAAooka fa-inna hasbakaAllahu huwa allathee ayyadaka binasrihi wabilmu/mineen
But if they desire to deceive you, Allah is indeed sufficient for you. It is He who strengthened you with His help and with the means of the faithful,Ali Quli Qarai
But if they intend to deceive you - then sufficient for you is Allāh. It is He who supported you with His help and with the believersSaheeh International

8:63
وَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ ۚ لَوْ أَ
نف َقْ تَ مَا فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ جَمِيعً ۭا م َّآ أَلَّفْتَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَلَٰ كِنّ َٱ للَّهَ أَلَّفَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ إِنّ َهُۥ عَزِيزٌ حَكِي مٌۭ ٦٣Waallafa bayna quloobihim law anfaqta mafee al-ardi jameeAAan ma allafta bayna quloobihimwalakinna Allaha allafa baynahum innahu AAazeezun hakeem
and united their hearts. Had you spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allah united them together. Indeed He is all-mighty, all-wise.Ali Quli Qarai
And brought together their hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together; but Allāh brought them together. Indeed, He is Exalted in Might and Wise.Saheeh International

8:64
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ ل نّ َبِىُّ حَسْبُكَٱ للَّهُ وَمَنِٱ تَّبَعَكَ مِنَٱ لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ ٦٤Ya ayyuha annabiyyu hasbukaAllahu wamani ittabaAAaka mina almu/mineen
O Prophet! Sufficient for you is Allah and those of the faithful who follow you.Ali Quli Qarai
O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allāh and for whoever follows you of the believers.Saheeh International

8:65
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ ل نّ َبِىُّ حَرِّضِٱ لْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَىٱ لْقِتَالِ ۚ إِن ي َكُن م ِّنك ُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَٰ بِرُونَ يَغْلِبُوا۟ مِا۟ ئَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِن ي َكُن م ِّنك ُم م ِّا۟ ئَةٌ ۭي َغْلِبُوٓ ا۟ أَلْفً ۭا م ِّنَٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِأَنّ َهُمْ قَوْمٌ ۭل َّا يَفْقَهُو نَ ٦٥Ya ayyuha annabiyyu harridialmu/mineena AAala alqitali in yakun minkumAAishroona sabiroona yaghliboo mi-atayni wa-in yakunminkum mi-atun yaghliboo alfan mina allatheena kafaroobi-annahum qawmun la yafqahoon
O Prophet! Urge on the faithful to fight: If there be twenty patient men among you, they shall overcome two hundred; and if there be a hundred of you, they shall overcome a thousand of the faithless, for they are a lot who do not understand.Ali Quli Qarai
O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred [who are steadfast], they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand.Saheeh International

8:66
ٱلَْٔ
ٰ نَ خَفَّفَٱ للَّهُ عَنك ُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنّ َ فِيكُمْ ضَعْفً ۭا ۚ ف َإِن ي َكُن م ِّنك ُم م ِّا۟ ئَةٌ ۭص َابِرَةٌ ۭي َغْلِبُوا۟ مِا۟ ئَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِن ي َكُن م ِّنك ُمْ أَلْفٌ ۭي َغْلِبُوٓ ا۟ أَلْفَيْنِ بِإِذْنِٱ للَّهِ ۗ وَٱ للَّهُ مَعَٱ ل صَّٰ بِرِي نَ ٦٦Al-ana khaffafa Allahu AAankumwaAAalima anna feekum daAAfan fa-in yakun minkum mi-atun sabiratunyaghliboo mi-atayni wa-in yakun minkum alfun yaghliboo alfaynibi-ithni Allahi wallahu maAAa assabireen
Now Allah has lightened your burden, knowing that there is weakness in you. So if there be a hundred patient men among you, they shall overcome two hundred; and if there be a thousand, they shall overcome two thousand, by Allah’s leave; and Allah is with the patient.Ali Quli Qarai
Now, Allāh has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allāh. And Allāh is with the steadfast.Saheeh International

8:67
مَا كَانَ لِنَبِىٍّ أ
َن ي َكُونَ لَهُۥٓ أَسْرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ يُثْخِنَ فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ ۚ تُرِيدُونَ عَرَضَٱ ل دُّنْيَا وَٱ للَّهُ يُرِيدُٱ لَْٔاخِرَةَ ۗ وَٱ للَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِي مٌۭ ٦٧Ma kana linabiyyin an yakoonalahu asra hatta yuthkhina fee al-arditureedoona AAarada addunya wallahuyureedu al-akhirata wallahu AAazeezun hakeem
A prophet may not take captives until he has thoroughly decimated [the enemy] in the land. You desire the transitory gains of this world, while Allah desires [for you] [the reward of] the Hereafter, and Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.Ali Quli Qarai
It is not for a prophet to have captives [of war] until he inflicts a massacre [upon Allāh's enemies] in the land. You [i.e., some Muslims] desire the commodities of this world, but Allāh desires [for you] the Hereafter. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.Saheeh International

8:68
لَّوْلَا كِتَ
ٰ بٌ ۭم ِّنَٱ للَّهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَآ أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِي مٌۭ ٦٨Lawla kitabun mina Allahisabaqa lamassakum feema akhathtum AAathabunAAatheem
Had it not been for a prior decree of Allah, surely there would have befallen you a great punishment for what you took.Ali Quli Qarai
If not for a decree from Allāh that preceded, you would have been touched for what you took by a great punishment.Saheeh International

8:69
فَكُلُو
ا۟ مِمّ َا غَنِمْتُمْ حَلَٰ لً ۭاط َيِّبً ۭا ۚ و َٱ تَّقُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ غَفُورٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌۭ ٦٩Fakuloo mimma ghanimtum halalantayyiban wattaqoo Allaha inna Allahaghafoorun raheem
Avail yourselves of the spoils you have taken as lawful and good, and be wary of Allah. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.Ali Quli Qarai
So consume what you have taken of war booty [as being] lawful and good, and fear Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.Saheeh International

8:70
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ ل نّ َبِىُّ قُل لِّمَن ف ِىٓ أَيْدِيكُم م ِّنَٱ لْأَسْرَىٰٓ إِن ي َعْلَمِٱ للَّهُ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ خَيْرً ۭا ي ُؤْتِكُمْ خَيْرً ۭا م ِّمّ َآ أُخِذَ مِنك ُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۗ وَٱ للَّهُ غَفُورٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌۭ ٧٠Ya ayyuha annabiyyuqul liman fee aydeekum mina al-asra in yaAAlami Allahufee quloobikum khayran yu/tikum khayran mimma okhithaminkum wayaghfir lakum wallahu ghafoorun raheem
O Prophet! Say to the captives who are in your hands, ‘If Allah finds any good in your hearts, He will give you [something which is] better than what has been taken away from you, and He will forgive you, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.’Ali Quli Qarai
O Prophet, say to whoever is in your hands of the captives, "If Allāh knows [any] good in your hearts, He will give you [something] better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you; and Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful."Saheeh International

8:71
وَإ
ِن ي ُرِيدُوا۟ خِيَانَتَكَ فَقَدْ خَانُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ مِن ق َبْ لُ فَأَمْكَنَ مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَٱ للَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِي مٌ ٧١Wa-in yureedoo khiyanataka faqad khanooAllaha min qablu faamkana minhum wallahuAAaleemun hakeem
But if they seek to betray you, then they have already betrayed Allah earlier, and He gave [you] power over them; and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.Ali Quli Qarai
But if they intend to betray you - then they have already betrayed Allāh before, and He empowered [you] over them. And Allāh is Knowing and Wise.Saheeh International

8:72
إِ
نّ َٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰ هَدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰ لِهِمْ وَأَنف ُسِهِمْ فِى سَبِيلِٱ للَّهِ وَٱ لَّذِينَ ءَاوَوا۟ وَّنَصَرُوٓ ا۟ أُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَا ٓءُ بَعْضٍ ۢۚ و َٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَمْ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ مَا لَكُم م ِّن و َلَٰ يَتِهِم م ِّن ش َىْءٍ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ ۚ وَإِنِٱ سْتَنص َرُوكُمْ فِىٱ ل دِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُٱ ل نّ َصْرُ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍۭ ب َيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم م ِّيثَٰ قٌ ۭۗ و َٱ للَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِي رٌۭ ٧٢Inna allatheena amanoo wahajaroowajahadoo bi-amwalihim waanfusihim fee sabeeli Allahiwallatheena awaw wanasaroo ola-ikabaAAduhum awliyao baAAdin wallatheenaamanoo walam yuhajiroo ma lakum min walayatihimmin shay-in hatta yuhajiroo wa-ini istansarookumfee addeeni faAAalaykumu annasru illaAAala qawmin baynakum wabaynahum meethaqun wallahubima taAAmaloona baseer
Indeed those who have believed and migrated and waged jihad with their possessions and persons in the way of Allah, and those who gave [them] shelter and help—they are heirs of one another. As for those who have believed but did not migrate, you have no heirdom in relation to them whatsoever until they migrate. Yet if they ask your help for the sake of religion, it is incumbent on you to help them, excepting against a people with whom you have a treaty; and Allah watches what you do.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, those who have believed and emigrated and fought with their wealth and lives in the cause of Allāh and those who gave shelter and aided - they are allies of one another. But those who believed and did not emigrate - for you there is no support of them until they emigrate. And if they seek help of you for the religion, then you must help, except against a people between yourselves and whom is a treaty. And Allāh is Seeing of what you do.Saheeh International

8:73
وَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَا ٓءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ إِلَّا تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُن ف ِتْنَةٌ ۭف ِىٱ لْأَرْضِ وَفَسَادٌ ۭك َبِي رٌۭ ٧٣Wallatheena kafaroo baAAduhumawliyao baAAdin illa tafAAaloohu takunfitnatun fee al-ardi wafasadun kabeer
As for the faithless, they are heirs of one another. Unless you do the same, there will be strife in the land and great corruption.Ali Quli Qarai
And those who disbelieved are allies of one another. If you do not do so [i.e., ally yourselves with other believers], there will be fitnah [i.e., disbelief and oppression] on earth and great corruption.Saheeh International

8:74
وَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰ هَدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِٱ للَّهِ وَٱ لَّذِينَ ءَاوَوا۟ وَّنَصَرُوٓ ا۟ أُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ هُمُٱ لْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّ ۭا ۚ ل َّهُم م َّغْفِرَةٌ ۭو َرِزْقٌ ۭك َرِي مٌۭ ٧٤Wallatheena amanoo wahajaroowajahadoo fee sabeeli Allahi wallatheenaawaw wanasaroo ola-ika humu almu/minoona haqqanlahum maghfiratun warizqun kareem
Those who have believed, migrated, and waged jihad in the way of Allah, and those who gave them shelter and help, it is they who are truly the faithful. For them shall be forgiveness and a noble provision.Ali Quli Qarai
But those who have believed and emigrated and fought in the cause of Allāh and those who gave shelter and aided - it is they who are the believers, truly. For them is forgiveness and noble provision.Saheeh International

8:75
وَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنۢ ب َعْدُ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰ هَدُوا۟ مَعَكُمْ فَأُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ مِنك ُمْ ۚ وَأُو۟ لُوا۟ ٱ لْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِبَعْضٍ ۢف ِى كِتَٰ بِٱ للَّهِ ۗ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِي مٌۢ ٧٥Wallatheena amanoo minbaAAdu wahajaroo wajahadoo maAAakum faola-ikaminkum waoloo al-arhami baAAduhum awlabibaAAdin fee kitabi Allahi inna Allahabikulli shay-in AAaleem
Those who believed afterwards and migrated, and waged jihad along with you, they belong to you; but the blood relatives are more entitled to inherit from one another in the Book of Allah. Indeed Allah has knowledge of all things.Ali Quli Qarai
And those who believed after [the initial emigration] and emigrated and fought with you - they are of you. But those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of all things.Saheeh International
