بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
16:1
أَتَىٰٓ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ١
Ata amru Allahi falatastaAAjiloohu subhanahu wataAAala AAammayushrikoon
QaraiAllah’s edict is coming! So do not seek to hasten it. Immaculate is He and exalted above [having] any partners that they ascribe [to Him].
Saheeh InternationalThe command of Allāh is coming, so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.
-
16:2
يُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ بِٱلرُّوحِ مِنْ أَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱتَّقُونِ ٢
Yunazzilu almala-ikata birroohimin amrihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi ananthiroo annahu la ilaha illa anafattaqoon
QaraiHe sends down the angels with the spirit of His command to whomever He wishes of His servants: ‘Warn [the people] that there is no god except Me; so be wary of Me.’
Saheeh InternationalHe sends down the angels, with the inspiration [i.e., revelation] of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], "Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me."

16:3
خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ تَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ٣
Khalaqa assamawati wal-ardabilhaqqi taAAala AAammayushrikoon
QaraiHe created the heavens and the earth with consummate wisdom. He is above having any partners that they ascribe [to Him].
Saheeh InternationalHe created the heavens and earth in truth. High is He above what they associate with Him.
-
16:4
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ ٤
Khalaqa al-insana min nutfatinfa-itha huwa khaseemun mubeen
QaraiHe created man from a drop of [seminal] fluid, and, behold, he is an open contender!
Saheeh InternationalHe created man from a sperm-drop; then at once he is a clear adversary.

16:5
وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمَ خَلَقَهَا ۗ لَكُمْ فِيهَا دِفْءٌ وَمَنَٰفِعُ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ ٥
Wal-anAAama khalaqahalakum feeha dif-on wamanafiAAu waminhata-kuloon
QaraiHe created the cattle, in which there is warmth for you and [other] uses, and some of them you eat.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat.
-
16:6
وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا جَمَالٌ حِينَ تُرِيحُونَ وَحِينَ تَسْرَحُونَ ٦
Walakum feeha jamalun heenatureehoona waheena tasrahoon
QaraiThere is in them a beauty for you when you bring them home for rest and when you drive them forth to pasture.
Saheeh InternationalAnd for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty when you bring them in [for the evening] and when you send them out [to pasture].
-
16:7
وَتَحْمِلُ أَثْقَالَكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَلَدٍ لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ بَٰلِغِيهِ إِلَّا بِشِقِّ ٱلْأَنفُسِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ ٧
Watahmilu athqalakum ilabaladin lam takoonoo baligheehi illa bishiqqial-anfusi inna rabbakum laraoofun raheem
QaraiAnd they bear your burdens to towns, which you could not reach except by straining yourselves. Indeed your Lord is most kind and merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with difficulty to yourselves. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.

16:8
وَٱلْخَيْلَ وَٱلْبِغَالَ وَٱلْحَمِيرَ لِتَرْكَبُوهَا وَزِينَةً ۚ وَيَخْلُقُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٨
Walkhayla walbighalawalhameera litarkabooha wazeenatanwayakhluqu ma la taAAlamoon
QaraiAnd horses, mules and asses, for you to ride them, and for pomp, and He creates what you do not know.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.
-
16:9
وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ قَصْدُ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمِنْهَا جَآئِرٌ ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ لَهَدَىٰكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٩
WaAAala Allahi qasdu assabeeliwaminha ja-irun walaw shaa lahadakumajmaAAeen
QaraiWith Allah rests guidance to the straight path, and some of the paths are devious, and had He wished He would have guided you all.
Saheeh InternationalAnd upon Allāh is the direction of the [right] way, and among them [i.e., the various paths] are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all.
-
16:10
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً ۖ لَّكُم مِّنْهُ شَرَابٌ وَمِنْهُ شَجَرٌ فِيهِ تُسِيمُونَ ١٠
Huwa allathee anzala mina assama-imaan lakum minhu sharabun waminhu shajarun feehituseemoon
QaraiIt is He who sends down water from the sky: from it you get your drink and with it are [sustained] the plants wherein you pasture your herds.
Saheeh InternationalIt is He who sends down rain from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture [animals].

16:11
يُنۢبِتُ لَكُم بِهِ ٱلزَّرْعَ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلنَّخِيلَ وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبَ وَمِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ١١
Yunbitu lakum bihi azzarAAa wazzaytoonawannakheela wal-aAAnaba wamin kulli aththamaratiinna fee thalika laayatan liqawmin yatafakkaroon
QaraiFor you He makes the crops grow with it and olives, date palms, vines, and fruits of all kinds. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who reflect.
Saheeh InternationalHe causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and of all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.

16:12
وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ وَٱلنُّجُومُ مُسَخَّرَٰتٌۢ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ ١٢
Wasakhkhara lakumu allayla wannaharawashshamsa walqamara wannujoomumusakhkharatun bi-amrihi inna fee thalika laayatinliqawmin yaAAqiloon
QaraiHe disposed the night and the day for you, and the sun, the moon and the stars are disposed by His command. There are indeed signs in that for people who exercise their reason.
Saheeh InternationalAnd He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.
-
16:13
وَمَا ذَرَأَ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهُۥٓ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ ١٣
Wama tharaa lakum fee al-ardimukhtalifan alwanuhu inna fee thalika laayatanliqawmin yaththakkaroon
QaraiAnd [He disposed for your benefit] whatever He has created for you in the earth of diverse hues—there is indeed a sign in that for a people who take admonition.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember.
-
16:14
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِتَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنْهُ لَحْمًا طَرِيًّا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟ مِنْهُ حِلْيَةً تَلْبَسُونَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلْفُلْكَ مَوَاخِرَ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ ١٤
Wahuwa allathee sakhkhara albahralita/kuloo minhu lahman tariyyan watastakhrijoominhu hilyatan talbasoonaha watara alfulkamawakhira feehi walitabtaghoo min fadlihiwalaAAallakum tashkuroon
QaraiIt is He who disposed the sea [for your benefit] that you may eat from it fresh meat, and obtain from it ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through it, that you may seek His bounty and that you may give thanks.
Saheeh InternationalAnd it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
-
16:15
وَأَلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَأَنْهَٰرًا وَسُبُلًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ ١٥
Waalqa fee al-ardi rawasiyaan tameeda bikum waanharan wasubulan laAAallakum tahtadoon
QaraiHe cast firm mountains in the earth lest it should shake with you, and [made] streams and ways, so that you may be guided
Saheeh InternationalAnd He has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it shift with you, and [made] rivers and roads, that you may be guided,
-
16:16
وَعَلَٰمَٰتٍ ۚ وَبِٱلنَّجْمِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ ١٦
WaAAalamatin wabinnajmihum yahtadoon
Qarai—and the landmarks [as well]—and by the stars they are guided.
Saheeh InternationalAnd landmarks. And by the stars they are [also] guided.
-
16:17
أَفَمَن يَخْلُقُ كَمَن لَّا يَخْلُقُ ۗ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ١٧
Afaman yakhluqu kaman la yakhluquafala tathakkaroon
QaraiIs He who creates like one who does not create? Will you not then take admonition?
Saheeh InternationalThen is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded?
-
16:18
وَإِن تَعُدُّوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَآ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ١٨
Wa-in taAAuddoo niAAmata Allahi latuhsooha inna Allaha laghafoorun raheem
QaraiIf you enumerate Allah’s blessings, you will not be able to count them. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful,
Saheeh InternationalAnd if you should count the favors of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
-
16:19
وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ ١٩
Wallahu yaAAlamu matusirroona wama tuAAlinoon
Qaraiand Allah knows whatever you hide and whatever you disclose.
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh knows what you conceal and what you declare.
-
16:20
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَئًْا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ ٢٠
Wallatheena yadAAoona mindooni Allahi la yakhluqoona shay-an wahumyukhlaqoon
QaraiThose whom they invoke besides Allah do not create anything and are themselves created.
Saheeh InternationalAnd those they invoke other than Allāh create nothing, and they [themselves] are created.
-
16:21
أَمْوَٰتٌ غَيْرُ أَحْيَآءٍ ۖ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ ٢١
Amwatun ghayru ahya-inwama yashAAuroona ayyana yubAAathoon
QaraiThey are dead and lifeless, and are not aware when they will be resurrected.
Saheeh InternationalThey are [in fact] dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.
-
16:22
إِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۚ فَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مُّنكِرَةٌ وَهُم مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ ٢٢
Ilahukum ilahun wahidunfallatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratiquloobuhum munkiratun wahum mustakbiroon
QaraiYour God is the One God. Those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are in denial [of the truth], and they are arrogant.
Saheeh InternationalYour god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant.
-
16:23
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ ٢٣
La jarama anna Allaha yaAAlamuma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoona innahu la yuhibbualmustakbireen
QaraiUndoubtedly, Allah knows whatever they hide and whatever they disclose. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant.
Saheeh InternationalAssuredly, Allāh knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant.
-
16:24
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُم مَّاذَآ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ ۙ قَالُوٓا۟ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٢٤
Wa-itha qeela lahum mathaanzala rabbukum qaloo asateeru al-awwaleen
QaraiWhen they are asked, ‘What is it that your Lord has sent down?’ They say, ‘Myths of the ancients,’
Saheeh InternationalAnd when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" they say, "Legends of the former peoples,"
-
16:25
لِيَحْمِلُوٓا۟ أَوْزَارَهُمْ كَامِلَةً يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۙ وَمِنْ أَوْزَارِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُضِلُّونَهُم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ ٢٥
Liyahmiloo awzarahum kamilatanyawma alqiyamati wamin awzari allatheena yudilloonahumbighayri AAilmin ala saa ma yaziroon
Qarai[with the result] that they will bear the full weight of their own burden on the Day of Resurrection, along with part of the burden of those whom they mislead without any knowledge. Behold! Evil is what they bear!
Saheeh InternationalThat they may bear their own burdens [i.e., sins] in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguide without [i.e., by lack of] knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

16:26
قَدْ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنْيَٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّقْفُ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ٢٦
Qad makara allatheena min qablihimfaata Allahu bunyanahum mina alqawaAAidifakharra AAalayhimu assaqfu min fawqihim waatahumualAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroon
QaraiThose who were before them [had also] schemed. Then Allah came at their edifice from the foundations and the roof fell down upon them from above and the punishment overtook them whence they were not aware.
Saheeh InternationalThose before them had already plotted, but Allāh came at [i.e., uprooted] their building from the foundations, so the roof fell upon them from above them, and the punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.
-
16:27
ثُمَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يُخْزِيهِمْ وَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تُشَٰٓقُّونَ فِيهِمْ ۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ إِنَّ ٱلْخِزْىَ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَٱلسُّوٓءَ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ٢٧
Thumma yawma alqiyamati yukhzeehimwayaqoolu ayna shuraka-iya allatheena kuntum tushaqqoonafeehim qala allatheena ootoo alAAilma inna alkhizyaalyawma wassoo-a AAala alkafireen
QaraiThen, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them, and say, ‘Where are My “partners” for whose sake you used to defy [Allah]?’ Those who were given knowledge will say, ‘Indeed today disgrace and distress pursue the faithless.’
Saheeh InternationalThen on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My 'partners' for whom you used to oppose [the believers]?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Indeed disgrace, this Day, and evil are upon the disbelievers" -

16:28
ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ فَأَلْقَوُا۟ ٱلسَّلَمَ مَا كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ مِن سُوٓءٍۭ ۚ بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٢٨
Allatheena tatawaffahumu almala-ikatuthalimee anfusihim faalqawoo assalamama kunna naAAmalu min soo-in bala inna AllahaAAaleemun bima kuntum taAAmaloon
Qarai—Those whom the angels take away while they were wronging themselves. Thereat they submit: ‘We were not doing any evil!’ ‘Yes, [the angels say to them,] indeed Allah knows best what you used to do!
Saheeh InternationalThe ones whom the angels take in death [while] wronging themselves, and [who] then offer submission, [saying], "We were not doing any evil." But, yes! Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of what you used to do.
-
16:29
فَٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ فَلَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ٢٩
Fadkhuloo abwaba jahannama khalideenafeeha falabi/sa mathwa almutakabbireen
QaraiEnter the gates of hell to remain in it [forever]. Evil is the [final] abode of the arrogant.’
Saheeh InternationalSo enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and how wretched is the residence of the arrogant.
-
16:30
۞ وَقِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ مَاذَآ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ ۚ قَالُوا۟ خَيْرًا ۗ لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ ۚ وَلَدَارُ ٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ ۚ وَلَنِعْمَ دَارُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ ٣٠
Waqeela lillatheena ittaqaw mathaanzala rabbukum qaloo khayran lillatheena ahsanoofee hathihi addunya hasanatun waladarual-akhirati khayrun walaniAAma daru almuttaqeen
QaraiBut those who were Godwary will be asked, ‘What is it that your Lord has sent down?’ They will say, ‘Good.’ For those who do good in this world there will be a good [reward], and the abode of the Hereafter is better, and the abode of the Godwary is surely excellent:
Saheeh InternationalAnd it will be said to those who feared Allāh, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -
-
16:31
جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍ يَدْخُلُونَهَا تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ۖ لَهُمْ فِيهَا مَا يَشَآءُونَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْزِى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ ٣١
Jannatu AAadnin yadkhuloonahatajree min tahtiha al-anharu lahum feehama yashaoona kathalika yajzee Allahualmuttaqeen
Qaraithe Gardens of Eden, which they will enter, with streams running in them. There they will have whatever they wish, and thus does Allah reward the Godwary
Saheeh InternationalGardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allāh reward the righteous -
-
16:32
ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ طَيِّبِينَ ۙ يَقُولُونَ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٣٢
Allatheena tatawaffahumu almala-ikatutayyibeena yaqooloona salamun AAalaykumu odkhulooaljannata bima kuntum taAAmaloon
Qarai—those whom the angels take away while they are pure. They say [to them], ‘Peace be to you! Enter paradise because of what you used to do.’
Saheeh InternationalThe ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do."

16:33
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ ٣٣
Hal yanthuroona illa anta/tiyahumu almala-ikatu aw ya/tiya amru rabbika kathalikafaAAala allatheena min qablihim wama thalamahumuAllahu walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoon
QaraiDo they not consider that the angels may come to them, or your Lord’s edict may come? Those who were before them had acted likewise; Allah did not wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.
Saheeh InternationalDo they [i.e., the disbelievers] await except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allāh wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves.

16:34
فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَئَِّاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ٣٤
Faasabahum sayyi-atu maAAamiloo wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihiyastahzi-oon
QaraiSo the evils of what they had earned visited them, and they were besieged by what they used to deride.
Saheeh InternationalSo they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

16:35
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا عَبَدْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍ نَّحْنُ وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ فَهَلْ عَلَى ٱلرُّسُلِ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ ٣٥
Waqala allatheena ashrakoo lawshaa Allahu ma AAabadna min doonihimin shay-in nahnu wala abaonawala harramna min doonihi min shay-in kathalikafaAAala allatheena min qablihim fahal AAala arrusuliilla albalaghu almubeen
QaraiThe polytheists say, ‘Had Allah wished, we would not have worshiped anything besides Him—neither we, nor our fathers—nor we would have forbidden anything without His sanction.’ Those who were before them had acted likewise. Is the apostles’ duty anything but to communicate in clear terms?
Saheeh InternationalAnd those who associate others with Allāh say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification?

16:36
وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُ ۚ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٣٦
Walaqad baAAathna fee kulli ommatinrasoolan ani oAAbudoo Allaha wajtaniboo attaghootafaminhum man hada Allahu waminhum man haqqatAAalayhi addalalatu faseeroo fee al-ardifanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatualmukaththibeen
QaraiCertainly We raised an apostle in every nation [to preach:] ‘Worship Allah, and shun fake deities.’ Among them were some whom Allah guided, and among them were some who deserved to be in error. So travel over the land and observe how was the fate of the deniers.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allāh and avoid ṭāghūt." And among them were those whom Allāh guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.
-
16:37
إِن تَحْرِصْ عَلَىٰ هُدَىٰهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَن يُضِلُّ ۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ ٣٧
In tahris AAala hudahumfa-inna Allaha la yahdee man yudillu wamalahum min nasireen
QaraiEven if you are eager for them to be guided, indeed Allah does not guide those who mislead [others], and they will have no helpers.
Saheeh International[Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muḥammad], indeed, Allāh does not guide those He sends astray, and they will have no helpers.
-
16:38
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ ۙ لَا يَبْعَثُ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَمُوتُ ۚ بَلَىٰ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٣٨
Waaqsamoo billahi jahda aymanihimla yabAAathu Allahu man yamootu bala waAAdanAAalayhi haqqan walakinna akthara annasila yaAAlamoon
QaraiThey swear by Allah with solemn oaths that Allah will not resurrect those who die. Yes indeed [He will], it is a promise binding upon Him, but most people do not know,
Saheeh InternationalAnd they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths [that] Allāh will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.
-
16:39
لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَٰذِبِينَ ٣٩
Liyubayyina lahumu allatheeyakhtalifoona feehi waliyaAAlama allatheena kafarooannahum kanoo kathibeen
Qaraiso that He may clarify for them what they differ about, and that the faithless may know that they were liars.
Saheeh International[It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars.
-
16:40
إِنَّمَا قَوْلُنَا لِشَىْءٍ إِذَآ أَرَدْنَٰهُ أَن نَّقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ ٤٠
Innama qawluna lishay-inithaaradnahu an naqoola lahu kun fayakoon
QaraiAll that We say to a thing, when We will it, is to say to it ‘Be!’ and it is.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.
-
16:41
وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِى ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ۖ وَلَأَجْرُ ٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ ٤١
Wallatheena hajaroofee Allahi min baAAdi ma thulimoolanubawwi-annahum fee addunya hasanatanwalaajru al-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoon
QaraiThose who migrate for the sake of Allah after they have been wronged, We will surely settle them in a good place in the world, and the reward of the Hereafter is surely greater, had they known
Saheeh InternationalAnd those who emigrated for [the cause of] Allāh after they had been wronged - We will surely settle them in this world in a good place; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they could know.
-
16:42
ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ ٤٢
Allatheena sabaroo waAAalarabbihim yatawakkaloon
Qarai—those who are patient and who put their trust in their Lord.
Saheeh International[They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied.
-
16:43
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ ۚ فَسَْٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٤٣
Wama arsalna min qablika illarijalan noohee ilayhim fas-aloo ahla aththikriin kuntum la taAAlamoon
QaraiWe did not send [any apostles] before you except as men to whom We revealed. Ask the People of the Reminder if you do not know.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.
-
16:44
بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَٱلزُّبُرِ ۗ وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ٤٤
Bilbayyinati wazzuburiwaanzalna ilayka aththikra litubayyina linnasima nuzzila ilayhim walaAAallahum yatafakkaroon
Qarai[We sent them] with manifest proofs and scriptures. We have sent down the reminder to you so that you may clarify for the people that which has been sent down to them, so that they may reflect.
Saheeh International[We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message [i.e., the Qur’ān] that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.
-
16:45
أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱلسَّئَِّاتِ أَن يَخْسِفَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ٤٥
Afaamina allatheena makaroo assayyi-atian yakhsifa Allahu bihimu al-arda aw ya/tiyahumualAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroon
QaraiDo those who devise evil schemes feel secure that Allah will not make the earth swallow them, or the punishment will not overtake them whence they are not aware?
Saheeh InternationalThen, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allāh will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?
-
16:46
أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِى تَقَلُّبِهِمْ فَمَا هُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ ٤٦
Aw ya/khuthahum fee taqallubihim famahum bimuAAjizeen
QaraiOr that He will not seize them in the midst of their bustle, whereupon they will not be able to frustrate [Him]?
Saheeh InternationalOr that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure [i.e., escape from Him]?
-
16:47
أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَىٰ تَخَوُّفٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ ٤٧
Aw ya/khuthahum AAalatakhawwufin fa-inna rabbakum laraoofun raheem
QaraiOr that He will not visit them with attrition? Indeed your Lord is most kind and merciful.
Saheeh InternationalOr that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]? But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.
-
16:48
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍ يَتَفَيَّؤُا۟ ظِلَٰلُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ سُجَّدًا لِّلَّهِ وَهُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ ٤٨
Awa lam yaraw ila ma khalaqaAllahu min shay-in yatafayyao thilaluhuAAani alyameeni washshama-ili sujjadan lillahiwahum dakhiroon
QaraiHave they not regarded that whatever thing Allah has created casts its shadow to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allah in utter humility?
Saheeh InternationalHave they not considered what things Allāh has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allāh, while they [i.e., those creations] are humble.
-
16:49
وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ٤٩
Walillahi yasjudu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi min dabbatin walmala-ikatuwahum la yastakbiroon
QaraiTo Allah prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, including animals and angels, and they are not arrogant.
Saheeh InternationalAnd to Allāh prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant.
-
16:50
يَخَافُونَ رَبَّهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ ۩ ٥٠
Yakhafoona rabbahum min fawqihimwayafAAaloona ma yu/maroon
QaraiThey fear their Lord above them, and do what they are commanded.
Saheeh InternationalThey fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded.
-
16:51
۞ وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ إِلَٰهَيْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِ ۖ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۖ فَإِيَّٰىَ فَٱرْهَبُونِ ٥١
Waqala Allahu latattakhithoo ilahayni ithnayni innama huwailahun wahidun fa-iyyaya farhaboon
QaraiAllah has said, ‘Do not worship two gods. Indeed He is the One God, so be in awe of Me [alone].’
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh has said, "Do not take for yourselves two deities. He [i.e., Allāh] is but one God, so fear only Me."
-
16:52
وَلَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَهُ ٱلدِّينُ وَاصِبًا ۚ أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَتَّقُونَ ٥٢
Walahu ma fee assamawatiwal-ardi walahu addeenu wasibanafaghayra Allahi tattaqoon
QaraiTo Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him belongs the enduring religion. Will you, then, be wary of other than Allah?
Saheeh InternationalAnd to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is [due] worship constantly. Then is it other than Allāh that you fear?
-
16:53
وَمَا بِكُم مِّن نِّعْمَةٍ فَمِنَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فَإِلَيْهِ تَجَْٔرُونَ ٥٣
Wama bikum min niAAmatin famina Allahithumma itha massakumu addurru fa-ilayhitaj-aroon
QaraiWhatever blessing you have is from Allah, and when a distress befalls you, you make entreaties to Him.
Saheeh InternationalAnd whatever you have of favor - it is from Allāh. Then when adversity touches you, to Him you cry for help.
-
16:54
ثُمَّ إِذَا كَشَفَ ٱلضُّرَّ عَنكُمْ إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنكُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ ٥٤
Thumma itha kashafa addurraAAankum itha fareequn minkum birabbihim yushrikoon
QaraiThen, when He removes the distress from you—behold, a part of them ascribe partners to their Lord,
Saheeh InternationalThen when He removes the adversity from you, at once a party of you associates others with their Lord
-
16:55
لِيَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ ۚ فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ٥٥
Liyakfuroo bima ataynahumfatamattaAAoo fasawfa taAAlamoon
Qaraibeing unthankful for what We have given them. So let them enjoy. Soon they shall know!
Saheeh InternationalSo they will deny what We have given them. Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know.
-
16:56
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ نَصِيبًا مِّمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ ۗ تَٱللَّهِ لَتُسَْٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَفْتَرُونَ ٥٦
WayajAAaloona lima layaAAlamoona naseeban mimma razaqnahum tallahilatus-alunna AAamma kuntum taftaroon
QaraiThey assign a share in what We have provided them to what they do not know. By Allah, you will surely be questioned concerning what you used to fabricate.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they assign to what they do not know [i.e., false deities] a portion of that which We have provided them. By Allāh, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.
-
16:57
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ ٱلْبَنَٰتِ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ ۙ وَلَهُم مَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ٥٧
WayajAAaloona lillahi albanatisubhanahu walahum ma yashtahoon
QaraiAnd they attribute daughters to Allah—immaculate is He—while they will have what they desire!
Saheeh InternationalAnd they attribute to Allāh daughters - exalted is He - and for them is what they desire [i.e., sons].
-
16:58
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ ٥٨
Wa-itha bushshira ahaduhum bilonthathalla wajhuhu muswaddan wahuwa katheem
QaraiWhen one of them is brought the news of a female [newborn], his face becomes darkened, and he chokes with suppressed agony.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
-
16:59
يَتَوَٰرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ مِن سُوٓءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِۦٓ ۚ أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ عَلَىٰ هُونٍ أَمْ يَدُسُّهُۥ فِى ٱلتُّرَابِ ۗ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ ٥٩
Yatawara mina alqawmi minsoo-i ma bushshira bihi ayumsikuhu AAala hoonin amyadussuhu fee atturabi ala saa mayahkumoon
QaraiHe hides from the people out of distress at the news he has been brought: shall he retain it in humiliation, or bury it in the ground! Behold! Evil is the judgement that they make.
Saheeh InternationalHe hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide.
-
16:60
لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ مَثَلُ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۖ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَثَلُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٦٠
Lillatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratimathalu assaw-i walillahi almathalu al-aAAlawahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeem
QaraiThere is an evil description for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, and the loftiest description belongs to Allah, and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.
Saheeh InternationalFor those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description [i.e., an attribute] of evil; and for Allāh is the highest attribute. And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise.
-
16:61
وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةً ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ ٦١
Walaw yu-akhithu Allahuannasa bithulmihim ma tarakaAAalayha min dabbatin walakin yu-akhkhiruhumila ajalin musamman fa-itha jaa ajaluhum layasta/khiroona saAAatan wala yastaqdimoon
QaraiWere Allah to take mankind to task for their wrongdoing, He would not leave any living being upon it. But He respites them until a specified time; so when their time comes they shall not defer it by a single hour nor shall they advance it.
Saheeh InternationalAnd if Allāh were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon it [i.e., the earth] any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].
-
16:62
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ وَتَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُهُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَأَنَّهُم مُّفْرَطُونَ ٦٢
WayajAAaloona lillahi mayakrahoona watasifu alsinatuhumu alkathiba annalahumu alhusna la jarama anna lahumu annarawaannahum mufratoon
QaraiThey attribute to Allah what they dislike [for themselves], and their tongues assert the lie that the best of rewards [in the Hereafter] will be theirs. Undoubtedly, the Fire shall be their lot and they will be foremost [in entering it].
Saheeh InternationalAnd they attribute to Allāh that which they dislike [i.e., daughters], and their tongues assert the lie that they will have the best [from Him]. Assuredly, they will have the Fire, and they will be [therein] neglected.
-
16:63
تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ٦٣
Tallahi laqad arsalnaila omamin min qablika fazayyana lahumu ashshaytanuaAAmalahum fahuwa waliyyuhumu alyawma walahum AAathabunaleem
QaraiBy Allah, We have certainly sent [apostles] to nations before you. But Satan made their deeds seem decorous to them. So he is their master today and there is a painful punishment for them.
Saheeh InternationalBy Allāh, We did certainly send [messengers] to nations before you, but Satan made their deeds attractive to them. And he is their [i.e., the disbelievers] ally today [as well], and they will have a painful punishment.
-
16:64
وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا لِتُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ ۙ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ٦٤
Wama anzalna AAalayka alkitabailla litubayyina lahumu allathee ikhtalafoo feehiwahudan warahmatan liqawmin yu/minoon
QaraiWe did not send down the Book to you except [for the purpose] that you may clarify for them what they differ about, and as a guidance and mercy for a people who have faith.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We have not revealed to you the Book, [O Muḥammad], except for you to make clear to them that wherein they have differed and as guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
-
16:65
وَٱللَّهُ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَآ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ ٦٥
Wallahu anzala mina assama-imaan faahya bihi al-arda baAAdamawtiha inna fee thalika laayatan liqawminyasmaAAoon
QaraiAllah sends down water from the sky with which He revives the earth after its death. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who listen.
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh has sent down rain from the sky and given life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who listen.
-
16:66
وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ لَعِبْرَةً ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهِۦ مِنۢ بَيْنِ فَرْثٍ وَدَمٍ لَّبَنًا خَالِصًا سَآئِغًا لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ ٦٦
Wa-inna lakum fee al-anAAamilaAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butoonihi min baynifarthin wadamin labanan khalisan sa-ighan lishsharibeen
QaraiThere is indeed a lesson for you in the cattle: We give you a drink pleasant to those who drink, pure milk, which is in their bellies, between [intestinal] waste and blood.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, for you in grazing livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from what is in their bellies - between excretion and blood - pure milk, palatable to drinkers.
-
16:67
وَمِن ثَمَرَٰتِ ٱلنَّخِيلِ وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهُ سَكَرًا وَرِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ ٦٧
Wamin thamarati annakheeli wal-aAAnabitattakhithoona minhu sakaran warizqan hasanan innafee thalika laayatan liqawmin yaAAqiloon
QaraiFrom the fruits of date palms and vines you draw wine and goodly provision. There are indeed signs in that for people who exercise their reason.
Saheeh InternationalAnd from the fruits of the palm trees and grapevines you take intoxicant and good provision. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who reason.

16:68
وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلنَّحْلِ أَنِ ٱتَّخِذِى مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا وَمِنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا يَعْرِشُونَ ٦٨
Waawha rabbuka ila annahliani ittakhithee mina aljibali buyootan wamina ashshajariwamimma yaAArishoon
QaraiAnd your Lord inspired the bee [saying]: ‘Make your home in the mountains, and on the trees and the trellises that they erect.
Saheeh InternationalAnd your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses [i.e., hives], and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.
-
16:69
ثُمَّ كُلِى مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ فَٱسْلُكِى سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًا ۚ يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَآءٌ لِّلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ٦٩
Thumma kulee min kulli aththamaratifaslukee subula rabbiki thululan yakhruju min butoonihasharabun mukhtalifun alwanuhu feehi shifaonlinnasi inna fee thalika laayatanliqawmin yatafakkaroon
QaraiThen eat from every [kind of] fruit and follow meekly the ways of your Lord.’ There issues from its belly a juice of diverse hues, in which there is a cure for the people. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who reflect.
Saheeh InternationalThen eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.

16:70
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمْ ۚ وَمِنكُم مَّن يُرَدُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَرْذَلِ ٱلْعُمُرِ لِكَىْ لَا يَعْلَمَ بَعْدَ عِلْمٍ شَئًْا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ ٧٠
Wallahu khalaqakum thummayatawaffakum waminkum man yuraddu ila arthalialAAumuri likay la yaAAlama baAAda AAilmin shay-an innaAllaha AAaleemun qadeer
QaraiAllah has created you, then He takes you away, and there are some among you who are relegated to the nethermost age so that he knows nothing after [having possessed] some knowledge. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-powerful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh created you; then He will take you in death. And among you is he who is reversed to the most decrepit [old] age so that he will not know, after [having had] knowledge, a thing. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing and Competent.
-
16:71
وَٱللَّهُ فَضَّلَ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فِى ٱلرِّزْقِ ۚ فَمَا ٱلَّذِينَ فُضِّلُوا۟ بِرَآدِّى رِزْقِهِمْ عَلَىٰ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِيهِ سَوَآءٌ ۚ أَفَبِنِعْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ ٧١
Wallahu faddala baAAdakumAAala baAAdin fee arrizqi fama allatheenafuddiloo biraddee rizqihim AAala mamalakat aymanuhum fahum feehi sawaon afabiniAAmatiAllahi yajhadoon
QaraiAllah has granted some of you an advantage over others in [respect of] provision. Those who have been granted an advantage do not give over their provision to their slaves so that they become equal in its respect. What, do they deny the blessing of Allah?
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh has favored some of you over others in provision. But those who were favored [i.e., given more] would not hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess [i.e., slaves] so they would be equal to them therein. Then is it the favor of Allāh they reject?
-
16:72
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم بَنِينَ وَحَفَدَةً وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ ۚ أَفَبِٱلْبَٰطِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَتِ ٱللَّهِ هُمْ يَكْفُرُونَ ٧٢
Wallahu jaAAala lakum minanfusikum azwajan wajaAAala lakum min azwajikumbaneena wahafadatan warazaqakum mina attayyibatiafabilbatili yu/minoona wabiniAAmati Allahihum yakfuroon
QaraiAllah made for you mates from your own selves and appointed for you children and grandchildren from your mates, and We provided you with all the good things. What, do they believe in falsehood while they deny the blessing of Allah?
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allāh they disbelieve?
-
16:73
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ رِزْقًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ شَئًْا وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ٧٣
WayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi mala yamliku lahum rizqan mina assamawatiwal-ardi shay-an wala yastateeAAoon
QaraiThey worship besides Allah what has no power to provide them with anything from the heavens and the earth, nor are they capable [of anything].
Saheeh InternationalAnd they worship besides Allāh that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable.
-
16:74
فَلَا تَضْرِبُوا۟ لِلَّهِ ٱلْأَمْثَالَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٧٤
Fala tadriboo lillahial-amthala inna Allaha yaAAlamu waantum lataAAlamoon
QaraiSo do not draw comparisons for Allah: indeed Allah knows and you do not know.
Saheeh InternationalSo do not assert similarities to Allāh. Indeed, Allāh knows and you do not know.
-
16:75
۞ ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبْدًا مَّمْلُوكًا لَّا يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ وَمَن رَّزَقْنَٰهُ مِنَّا رِزْقًا حَسَنًا فَهُوَ يُنفِقُ مِنْهُ سِرًّا وَجَهْرًا ۖ هَلْ يَسْتَوُۥنَ ۚ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٧٥
Daraba Allahu mathalan AAabdanmamlookan la yaqdiru AAala shay-in waman razaqnahuminna rizqan hasanan fahuwa yunfiqu minhu sirranwajahran hal yastawoona alhamdu lillahi balaktharuhum la yaAAlamoon
QaraiAllah draws a parable: a slave owned [by his master] who has no power over anything, and another one [a free man] whom We have provided a goodly provision and who spends out of it secretly and openly. Are they equal? All praise belongs to Allah. But most of them do not know.
Saheeh InternationalAllāh presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allāh! But most of them do not know.

16:76
وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا رَّجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَبْكَمُ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَىٰ مَوْلَىٰهُ أَيْنَمَا يُوَجِّههُّ لَا يَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ ۖ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى هُوَ وَمَن يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ ۙ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ ٧٦
Wadaraba Allahu mathalanrajulayni ahaduhuma abkamu la yaqdiru AAalashay-in wahuwa kallun AAala mawlahu aynamayuwajjihhu la ya/ti bikhayrin hal yastawee huwa wamanya/muru bilAAadli wahuwa AAala siratinmustaqeem
QaraiAllah draws [another] parable: Two men, one of whom is dumb, having no power over anything and who is a liability to his master: wherever he directs him he does not bring any good. Is he equal to someone who enjoins justice and is [steady] on a straight path?
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh presents an example of two men, one of them dumb and unable to do a thing, while he is a burden to his guardian. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice, while he is on a straight path?
-
16:77
وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَآ أَمْرُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمْحِ ٱلْبَصَرِ أَوْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ٧٧
Walillahi ghaybu assamawatiwal-ardi wama amru assaAAatiilla kalamhi albasari aw huwa aqrabu innaAllaha AAala kulli shay-in qadeer
QaraiTo Allah belongs the Unseen of the heavens and the earth. The matter of the Hour is just like the twinkling of an eye, or [even] swifter. Indeed Allah has power over all things.
Saheeh InternationalAnd to Allāh belongs the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. And the command for the Hour is not but as a glance of the eye or even nearer. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.
-
16:78
وَٱللَّهُ أَخْرَجَكُم مِّنۢ بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ شَئًْا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ وَٱلْأَفِْٔدَةَ ۙ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ ٧٨
Wallahu akhrajakum min butooniommahatikum la taAAlamoona shay-an wajaAAala lakumuassamAAa wal-absara wal-af-idatalaAAallakum tashkuroon
QaraiAllah has brought you forth from the bellies of your mothers while you did not know anything. He made for you hearing, eyesight, and hearts so that you may give thanks.
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect] that perhaps you would be grateful.
-
16:79
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ مُسَخَّرَٰتٍ فِى جَوِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ٧٩
Alam yaraw ila attayrimusakhkharatin fee jawwi assama-i mayumsikuhunna illa Allahu inna fee thalika laayatinliqawmin yu/minoon
QaraiHave they not regarded the birds disposed in the air of the sky: no one sustains them except Allah. There are indeed signs in that for a people who have faith.
Saheeh InternationalDo they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up except Allāh. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
-
16:80
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنۢ بُيُوتِكُمْ سَكَنًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّن جُلُودِ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ بُيُوتًا تَسْتَخِفُّونَهَا يَوْمَ ظَعْنِكُمْ وَيَوْمَ إِقَامَتِكُمْ ۙ وَمِنْ أَصْوَافِهَا وَأَوْبَارِهَا وَأَشْعَارِهَآ أَثَٰثًا وَمَتَٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ ٨٠
Wallahu jaAAala lakum minbuyootikum sakanan wajaAAala lakum min juloodi al-anAAamibuyootan tastakhiffoonaha yawma thaAAnikumwayawma iqamatikum wamin aswafihawaawbariha waashAAariha athathanwamataAAan ila heen
QaraiIt is Allah who has made your homes as a place of rest for you and He made for you homes out of the skins of the cattle which you find portable on the day of your shifting and on the day of your halt, and out of their wool, fur and hair [He has appointed] furniture and wares [enduring] for a while.
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh has made for you from your homes a place of rest and made for you from the hides of the animals tents which you find light on your day of travel and your day of encampment; and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing and enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time.
-
16:81
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّمَّا خَلَقَ ظِلَٰلًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ أَكْنَٰنًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ سَرَٰبِيلَ تَقِيكُمُ ٱلْحَرَّ وَسَرَٰبِيلَ تَقِيكُم بَأْسَكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْلِمُونَ ٨١
Wallahu jaAAala lakum mimmakhalaqa thilalan wajaAAala lakum mina aljibaliaknanan wajaAAala lakum sarabeela taqeekumu alharrawasarabeela taqeekum ba/sakum kathalika yutimmuniAAmatahu AAalaykum laAAallakum tuslimoon
QaraiIt is Allah who made for you the shade from what He has created, and made for you retreats in the mountains, and made for you garments that protect you from heat, and garments that protect you from your [mutual] violence. That is how He completes His blessing upon you so that you may submit [to Him].
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh has made for you, from that which He has created, shadows [i.e., shade] and has made for you from the mountains, shelters and has made for you garments which protect you from the heat and garments [i.e., coats of mail] which protect you from your [enemy in] battle. Thus does He complete His favor upon you that you might submit [to Him].
-
16:82
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ ٨٢
Fa-in tawallaw fa-innama AAalaykaalbalaghu almubeen
QaraiBut if they turn their backs [on you], your duty is only to communicate in clear terms.
Saheeh InternationalBut if they turn away, [O Muḥammad] - then only upon you is [responsibility for] clear notification.
-
16:83
يَعْرِفُونَ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُنكِرُونَهَا وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ ٨٣
YaAArifoona niAAmata Allahi thummayunkiroonaha waaktharuhumu alkafiroon
QaraiThey recognize the blessing of Allah and then deny it, and most of them are faithless.
Saheeh InternationalThey recognize the favor of Allāh; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers.
-
16:84
وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيدًا ثُمَّ لَا يُؤْذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ ٨٤
Wayawma nabAAathu min kulli ommatinshaheedan thumma la yu/thanu lillatheenakafaroo wala hum yustaAAtaboon
QaraiThe day We shall raise a witness from every nation, the faithless will not be permitted [to speak], nor will they be asked to propitiate [Allah].
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] the Day when We will resurrect from every nation a witness [i.e., their prophet]. Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease [Allāh].
-
16:85
وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ ٨٥
Wa-itha raa allatheena thalamooalAAathaba fala yukhaffafu AAanhum wala humyuntharoon
QaraiAnd when the wrongdoers sight the punishment, it shall not be lightened for them, nor will they be granted any respite.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when those who wronged see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.
-
16:86
وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَهُمْ قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُرَكَآؤُنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كُنَّا نَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِكَ ۖ فَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ إِنَّكُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ ٨٦
Wa-itha raa allatheenaashrakoo shurakaahum qaloo rabbana haola-ishurakaona allatheena kunna nadAAoomin doonika faalqaw ilayhimu alqawla innakum lakathiboon
QaraiWhen the polytheists sight their partners, they will say, ‘Our Lord! These are our partners whom we used to invoke besides You.’ But they will retort to them, ‘You are indeed liars!’
Saheeh InternationalAnd when those who associated others with Allāh see their "partners," they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners [to You] whom we used to invoke [in worship] besides You." But they will throw at them the statement, "Indeed, you are liars."
-
16:87
وَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلسَّلَمَ ۖ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ ٨٧
Waalqaw ila Allahi yawma-ithinassalama wadalla AAanhum ma kanooyaftaroon
QaraiThey will submit to Allah on that day, and what they used to fabricate will forsake them.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they will impart to Allāh that Day [their] submission, and lost from them is what they used to invent.
-
16:88
ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ زِدْنَٰهُمْ عَذَابًا فَوْقَ ٱلْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يُفْسِدُونَ ٨٨
Allatheena kafaroo wasaddooAAan sabeeli Allahi zidnahum AAathaban fawqaalAAathabi bima kanoo yufsidoon
QaraiThose who are faithless and bar from the way of Allah—We shall add punishment to their punishment because of the corruption they used to cause.
Saheeh InternationalThose who disbelieved and averted [others] from the way of Allāh - We will increase them in punishment over [their] punishment for what corruption they were causing.
-
16:89
وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ شَهِيدًا عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ۚ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ تِبْيَٰنًا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ ٨٩
Wayawma nabAAathu fee kulli ommatinshaheedan AAalayhim min anfusihim waji/na bika shaheedanAAala haola-i wanazzalna AAalaykaalkitaba tibyanan likulli shay-in wahudan warahmatanwabushra lilmuslimeen
QaraiThe day We raise in every nation a witness against them from among themselves, We shall bring you as a witness against these. We have sent down the Book to you as a clarification of all things and as guidance, mercy and good news for the Muslims.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves [i.e., their prophet]. And We will bring you, [O Muḥammad], as a witness over these [i.e., your nation]. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.
-
16:90
۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَٱلْإِحْسَٰنِ وَإِيتَآئِ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَيَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱلْبَغْىِ ۚ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ ٩٠
Inna Allaha ya/muru bilAAadliwal-ihsani wa-eeta-i theealqurba wayanha AAani alfahsha-i walmunkariwalbaghyi yaAAithukum laAAallakum tathakkaroon
QaraiIndeed Allah enjoins justice and kindness, and generosity towards relatives, and He forbids indecency, wrongdoing, and aggression. He advises you, so that you may take admonition.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, Allāh orders justice and good conduct and giving [help] to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.
-
16:91
وَأَوْفُوا۟ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا عَٰهَدتُّمْ وَلَا تَنقُضُوا۟ ٱلْأَيْمَٰنَ بَعْدَ تَوْكِيدِهَا وَقَدْ جَعَلْتُمُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيْكُمْ كَفِيلًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ ٩١
Waawfoo biAAahdi Allahi ithaAAahadtum wala tanqudoo al-aymanabaAAda tawkeediha waqad jaAAaltumu Allaha AAalaykumkafeelan inna Allaha yaAAlamu ma tafAAaloon
QaraiFulfill Allah’s covenant when you pledge, and do not break [your] oaths, after pledging them solemnly and having made Allah a witness over yourselves. Indeed Allah knows what you do.
Saheeh InternationalAnd fulfill the covenant of Allāh when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allāh, over you, a security [i.e., witness]. Indeed, Allāh knows what you do.
-
16:92
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّتِى نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَٰثًا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ أَن تَكُونَ أُمَّةٌ هِىَ أَرْبَىٰ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ ۚ إِنَّمَا يَبْلُوكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ ۚ وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ لَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ مَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ ٩٢
Wala takoonoo kallatee naqadatghazlaha min baAAdi quwwatin ankathan tattakhithoonaaymanakum dakhalan baynakum an takoona ommatun hiya arbamin ommatin innama yablookumu Allahu bihiwalayubayyinanna lakum yawma alqiyamati ma kuntumfeehi takhtalifoon
QaraiDo not be like her who would undo her yarn, breaking it up after [spinning it to] strength, by making your oaths a means of [mutual] deceit among yourselves, so that one community may become more affluent than another community. Indeed Allah tests you thereby, and He will surely clarify for you on the Day of Resurrection what you used to differ about.
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community. Allāh only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ.
-
16:93
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَٰكِن يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَلَتُسَْٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٩٣
Walaw shaa Allahu lajaAAalakumommatan wahidatan walakin yudillu man yashaowayahdee man yashao walatus-alunna AAamma kuntumtaAAmaloon
QaraiHad Allah wished, He would have made you one community, but He leads astray whomever He wishes and guides whomever He wishes, and you will surely be questioned concerning what you used to do.
Saheeh InternationalAnd if Allāh had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
-
16:94
وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمٌۢ بَعْدَ ثُبُوتِهَا وَتَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِمَا صَدَدتُّمْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَلَكُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ ٩٤
Wala tattakhithoo aymanakumdakhalan baynakum fatazilla qadamun baAAda thubootiha watathooqooassoo-a bima sadadtum AAan sabeeli Allahiwalakum AAathabun AAatheem
QaraiDo not make your oaths a means of [mutual] deceit among yourselves, lest feet should stumble after being steady and [lest] you suffer ill for barring from the way of Allah and face a great punishment.
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not take your oaths as [means of] deceit between you, lest a foot slip after it was [once] firm, and you would taste evil [in this world] for what [people] you diverted from the way of Allāh, and you would have [in the Hereafter] a great punishment.
-
16:95
وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ٩٥
Wala tashtaroo biAAahdi Allahithamanan qaleelan innama AAinda Allahi huwa khayrunlakum in kuntum taAAlamoon
QaraiDo not sell Allah’s covenants for a paltry gain. Indeed, what is with Allah is better for you, should you know.
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not exchange the covenant of Allāh for a small price. Indeed, what is with Allāh is best for you, if only you could know.
-
16:96
مَا عِندَكُمْ يَنفَدُ ۖ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ بَاقٍ ۗ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوٓا۟ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ٩٦
Ma AAindakum yanfadu wamaAAinda Allahi baqin walanajziyanna allatheenasabaroo ajrahum bi-ahsani ma kanooyaAAmaloon
QaraiThat which is with you will be spent [and gone], but what is with Allah shall last, and We will surely pay the patient their reward by the best of what they used to do.
Saheeh InternationalWhatever you have will end, but what Allāh has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.

16:97
مَنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحًا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُۥ حَيَوٰةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ٩٧
Man AAamila salihan min thakarinaw ontha wahuwa mu/minun falanuhyiyannahu hayatantayyibatan walanajziyannahum ajrahum bi-ahsani makanoo yaAAmaloon
QaraiWhoever acts righteously, [whether] male or female, should he be faithful, We shall revive him with a good life and pay them their reward by the best of what they used to do.
Saheeh InternationalWhoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.
-
16:98
فَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ ٩٨
Fa-itha qara/ta alqur-ana fastaAAithbillahi mina ashshaytani arrajeem
QaraiWhen you recite the Quran, seek the protection of Allah against the outcast Satan.
Saheeh InternationalSo when you recite the Qur’ān, [first] seek refuge in Allāh from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy].
-
16:99
إِنَّهُۥ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ سُلْطَٰنٌ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ ٩٩
Innahu laysa lahu sultanun AAalaallatheena amanoo waAAala rabbihimyatawakkaloon
QaraiIndeed he does not have any authority over those who have faith and put their trust in their Lord.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord.
-
16:100
إِنَّمَا سُلْطَٰنُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِهِۦ مُشْرِكُونَ ١٠٠
Innama sultanuhu AAalaallatheena yatawallawnahu wallatheena humbihi mushrikoon
QaraiHis authority is only over those who befriend him and those who make him a partner [of Allah].
Saheeh InternationalHis authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allāh.
-
16:101
وَإِذَا بَدَّلْنَآ ءَايَةً مَّكَانَ ءَايَةٍ ۙ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُنَزِّلُ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُفْتَرٍۭ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ١٠١
Wa-itha baddalna ayatanmakana ayatin wallahu aAAlamu bimayunazzilu qaloo innama anta muftarin bal aktharuhumla yaAAlamoon
QaraiWhen We change a sign for another in its stead—and Allah knows best what He sends down—they say, ‘You are indeed a fabricator.’ Indeed, most of them do not know.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when We substitute a verse in place of a verse - and Allāh is most knowing of what He sends down - they say, "You, [O Muḥammad], are but an inventor [of lies]." But most of them do not know.
-
16:102
قُلْ نَزَّلَهُۥ رُوحُ ٱلْقُدُسِ مِن رَّبِّكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِيُثَبِّتَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهُدًى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ ١٠٢
Qul nazzalahu roohu alqudusi minrabbika bilhaqqi liyuthabbita allatheena amanoowahudan wabushra lilmuslimeen
QaraiSay, the Holy Spirit has brought it down duly from your Lord to fortify those who have faith and as guidance and good news for the Muslims.
Saheeh InternationalSay, [O Muḥammad], "The Pure Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down from your Lord in truth to make firm those who believe and as guidance and good tidings to the Muslims."

16:103
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّمَا يُعَلِّمُهُۥ بَشَرٌ ۗ لِّسَانُ ٱلَّذِى يُلْحِدُونَ إِلَيْهِ أَعْجَمِىٌّ وَهَٰذَا لِسَانٌ عَرَبِىٌّ مُّبِينٌ ١٠٣
Walaqad naAAlamu annahum yaqooloona innamayuAAallimuhu basharun lisanu allathee yulhidoonailayhi aAAjamiyyun wahatha lisanun AAarabiyyunmubeen
QaraiWe certainly know that they say, ‘It is only a human that instructs him.’ The language of him to whom they refer is non-Arabic, while this is a clear Arabic language.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We certainly know that they say, "It is only a human being who teaches him [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)]." The tongue of the one they refer to is foreign, and this [recitation, i.e., Qur’ān] is [in] a clear Arabic language.

16:104
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بَِٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَهْدِيهِمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ١٠٤
Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabi-ayati Allahi la yahdeehimu Allahuwalahum AAathabun aleem
QaraiIndeed those who do not believe in the signs of Allah—Allah shall not guide them and there is a painful punishment for them.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, those who do not believe in the verses of Allāh - Allāh will not guide them, and for them is a painful punishment.
-
16:105
إِنَّمَا يَفْتَرِى ٱلْكَذِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بَِٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰذِبُونَ ١٠٥
Innama yaftaree alkathibaallatheena la yu/minoona bi-ayati Allahiwaola-ika humu alkathiboon
QaraiOnly those fabricate lies who do not believe in the signs of Allah, and it is they who are the liars.
Saheeh InternationalThey only invent falsehood who do not believe in the verses of Allāh, and it is those who are the liars.
-
16:106
مَن كَفَرَ بِٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِيمَٰنِهِۦٓ إِلَّا مَنْ أُكْرِهَ وَقَلْبُهُۥ مُطْمَئِنٌّۢ بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ وَلَٰكِن مَّن شَرَحَ بِٱلْكُفْرِ صَدْرًا فَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ ١٠٦
Man kafara billahi minbaAAdi eemanihi illa man okriha waqalbuhu mutma-innunbil-eemani walakin man sharaha bilkufrisadran faAAalayhim ghadabun mina Allahiwalahum AAathabun AAatheem
QaraiExcepting someone who is compelled [to recant his faith] while his heart is at rest in it, those who disbelieve in Allah after [affirming] their faith and open up their breasts to unfaith, Allah’s wrath shall be upon them and there is a great punishment for them.
Saheeh InternationalWhoever disbelieves in [i.e., denies] Allāh after his belief... except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith. But those who [willingly] open their breasts to disbelief, upon them is wrath from Allāh, and for them is a great punishment;
-
16:107
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ١٠٧
Thalika bi-annahumu istahabbooalhayata addunya AAala al-akhiratiwaanna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alkafireen
QaraiThat, because they preferred the life of the world to the Hereafter and that Allah does not guide the faithless lot.
Saheeh InternationalThat is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter and that Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people.
-
16:108
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَٰرِهِمْ ۖ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰفِلُونَ ١٠٨
Ola-ika allatheena tabaAAaAllahu AAala quloobihim wasamAAihim waabsarihimwaola-ika humu alghafiloon
QaraiThey are the ones Allah has set a seal on their hearts, their hearing and their sight, and it is they who are the heedless.
Saheeh InternationalThose are the ones over whose hearts and hearing and vision Allāh has sealed, and it is those who are the heedless.
-
16:109
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ ١٠٩
La jarama annahum fee al-akhiratihumu alkhasiroon
QaraiUndoubtedly, they are the ones who will be the losers in the Hereafter.
Saheeh InternationalAssuredly, it is they, in the Hereafter, who will be the losers.
-
16:110
ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا فُتِنُوا۟ ثُمَّ جَٰهَدُوا۟ وَصَبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ١١٠
Thumma inna rabbaka lillatheena hajaroomin baAAdi ma futinoo thumma jahadoo wasabarooinna rabbaka min baAAdiha laghafoorun raheem
QaraiThereafter your Lord will indeed be forgiving and merciful to those who migrated after they were persecuted, waged jihad and remained steadfast.
Saheeh InternationalThen, indeed your Lord, to those who emigrated after they had been compelled [to say words of disbelief] and thereafter fought [for the cause of Allāh] and were patient - indeed, your Lord, after that, is Forgiving and Merciful
-
16:111
۞ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ تُجَٰدِلُ عَن نَّفْسِهَا وَتُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ ١١١
Yawma ta/tee kullu nafsin tujadiluAAan nafsiha watuwaffa kullu nafsin maAAamilat wahum la yuthlamoon
QaraiThe day [will come] when every soul will come pleading for itself and every soul will be recompensed fully for what it has done, and they will not be wronged.
Saheeh InternationalOn the Day when every soul will come disputing [i.e., pleading] for itself, and every soul will be fully compensated for what it did, and they will not be wronged [i.e., treated unjustly].
-
16:112
وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا قَرْيَةً كَانَتْ ءَامِنَةً مُّطْمَئِنَّةً يَأْتِيهَا رِزْقُهَا رَغَدًا مِّن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ فَكَفَرَتْ بِأَنْعُمِ ٱللَّهِ فَأَذَٰقَهَا ٱللَّهُ لِبَاسَ ٱلْجُوعِ وَٱلْخَوْفِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُونَ ١١٢
Wadaraba Allahu mathalanqaryatan kanat aminatan mutma-innatanya/teeha rizquha raghadan min kulli makaninfakafarat bi-anAAumi Allahi faathaqaha Allahulibasa aljooAAi walkhawfi bima kanooyasnaAAoon
QaraiAllah draws a parable: There was a town secure and peaceful, its provision coming abundantly from every place. But it was ungrateful toward Allah’s blessings. So Allah made it taste hunger and fear because of what they used to do.
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh presents an example: a city [i.e., Makkah] which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allāh. So Allāh made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing.
-
16:113
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَهُمْ ظَٰلِمُونَ ١١٣
Walaqad jaahum rasoolun minhum fakaththaboohufaakhathahumu alAAathabu wahum thalimoon
QaraiCertainly there had come to them an apostle from among themselves, but they impugned him. So the punishment seized them while they were doing wrong.
Saheeh InternationalAnd there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers.
-
16:114
فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ حَلَٰلًا طَيِّبًا وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ ١١٤
Fakuloo mimma razaqakumu Allahuhalalan tayyiban washkuroo niAAmataAllahi in kuntum iyyahu taAAbudoon
QaraiSo eat out of what Allah has provided you as lawful and good, and give thanks for Allah’s blessing, if it is Him that you worship.
Saheeh InternationalThen eat of what Allāh has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allāh, if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.
-
16:115
إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَيْتَةَ وَٱلدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ ٱلْخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ ۖ فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ١١٥
Innama harrama AAalaykumualmaytata waddama walahma alkhinzeeri wamaohilla lighayri Allahi bihi famani idturra ghayra baghinwala AAadin fa-inna Allaha ghafoorun raheem
QaraiHe has forbidden you only carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been offered to other than Allah. But if someone is compelled [to eat any of that], without being rebellious or aggressive, indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalHe has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allāh. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
-
16:116
وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ لِمَا تَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ هَٰذَا حَلَٰلٌ وَهَٰذَا حَرَامٌ لِّتَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ لَا يُفْلِحُونَ ١١٦
Wala taqooloo lima tasifualsinatukumu alkathiba hatha halalunwahatha haramun litaftaroo AAala Allahialkathiba inna allatheena yaftaroona AAalaAllahi alkathiba la yuflihoon
QaraiDo not say, asserting falsely with your tongues, ‘This is lawful, and that is unlawful,’ attributing lies to Allah. Indeed those who attribute lies to Allah will not be felicitous.
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, "This is lawful and this is unlawful," to invent falsehood about Allāh. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allāh will not succeed.

16:117
مَتَٰعٌ قَلِيلٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ١١٧
MataAAun qaleelun walahum AAathabunaleem
Qarai[Their share of the present life is] a trifling enjoyment, and there will be a painful punishment for them.
Saheeh International[It is but] a brief enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment.
-
16:118
وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا مَا قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَمَا ظَلَمْنَٰهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ ١١٨
WaAAala allatheena hadooharramna ma qasasnaAAalayka min qablu wama thalamnahumwalakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoon
QaraiWe forbade to the Jews what We have recounted to you earlier, and We did not wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.
Saheeh InternationalAnd to those who are Jews We have prohibited that which We related to you before. And We did not wrong them [thereby], but they were wronging themselves.
-
16:119
ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوٓا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ١١٩
Thumma inna rabbaka lillatheenaAAamiloo assoo-a bijahalatin thumma taboomin baAAdi thalika waaslahoo inna rabbakamin baAAdiha laghafoorun raheem
QaraiMoreover, your Lord will indeed be forgiving and merciful to those who repent after they having committed evil out of ignorance and reform themselves.
Saheeh InternationalThen, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and correct themselves - indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful.
-
16:120
إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةً قَانِتًا لِّلَّهِ حَنِيفًا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ١٢٠
Inna ibraheema kana ommatan qanitanlillahi haneefan walam yaku mina almushrikeen
QaraiIndeed Abraham was a nation [all by himself], obedient to Allah, a Hanif, and he was not a polytheist.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, Abraham was a [comprehensive] leader, devoutly obedient to Allāh, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allāh.
-
16:121
شَاكِرًا لِّأَنْعُمِهِ ۚ ٱجْتَبَىٰهُ وَهَدَىٰهُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ ١٢١
Shakiran li-anAAumihi ijtabahuwahadahu ila siratin mustaqeem
QaraiGrateful [as he was] for His blessings, He chose him and guided him to a straight path.
Saheeh International[He was] grateful for His favors. He [i.e., Allāh] chose him and guided him to a straight path.
-
16:122
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ١٢٢
Waataynahu fee addunyahasanatan wa-innahu fee al-akhirati lamina assaliheen
QaraiWe gave him good in this world, and in the Hereafter he will indeed be among the Righteous.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We gave him good in this world, and indeed, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.
-
16:123
ثُمَّ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ أَنِ ٱتَّبِعْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًا ۖ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ١٢٣
Thumma awhayna ilayka aniittabiAA millata ibraheema haneefan wama kanamina almushrikeen
QaraiThereafter We revealed to you [saying], ‘Follow the creed of Abraham, a Hanif, who was not a polytheist.’
Saheeh InternationalThen We revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], to follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he was not of those who associate with Allāh.
-
16:124
إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ ٱلسَّبْتُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ ۚ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ ١٢٤
Innama juAAila assabtu AAalaallatheena ikhtalafoo feehi wa-inna rabbaka layahkumubaynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehiyakhtalifoon
QaraiThe Sabbath was only prescribed for those who differed about it. Your Lord will indeed judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they differ.
Saheeh InternationalThe sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it. And indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.

16:125
ٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ ۖ وَجَٰدِلْهُم بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ ١٢٥
OdAAu ila sabeeli rabbika bilhikmatiwalmawAAithati alhasanati wajadilhumbillatee hiya ahsanu inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamubiman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bilmuhtadeen
QaraiInvite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good advice and dispute with them in a manner that is best. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are guided.
Saheeh InternationalInvite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.

16:126
وَإِنْ عَاقَبْتُمْ فَعَاقِبُوا۟ بِمِثْلِ مَا عُوقِبْتُم بِهِۦ ۖ وَلَئِن صَبَرْتُمْ لَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لِّلصَّٰبِرِينَ ١٢٦
Wa-in AAaqabtum faAAaqiboobimithli ma AAooqibtum bihi wala-in sabartum lahuwakhayrun lissabireen
QaraiShould you retaliate, retaliate with the like of what you have been made to suffer, but if you are patient that is surely better for the steadfast.
Saheeh InternationalAnd if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient.

16:127
وَٱصْبِرْ وَمَا صَبْرُكَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ ۚ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُ فِى ضَيْقٍ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَ ١٢٧
Wasbir wama sabrukailla billahi wala tahzanAAalayhim wala taku fee dayqin mimmayamkuroon
QaraiSo be steadfast, and you cannot be steadfast except with Allah [’s help]. And do not grieve for them, nor be upset by their guile.
Saheeh InternationalAnd be patient, [O Muḥammad], and your patience is not but through Allāh. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire.

16:128
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّٱلَّذِينَ هُم مُّحْسِنُونَ ١٢٨
Inna Allaha maAAa allatheenaittaqaw wallatheena hum muhsinoon
QaraiIndeed Allah is with those who are Godwary and those who are virtuous.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, Allāh is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.
