بِسْمِ
-
16:1
أَتَ
ىٰٓ أَمْرُٱ للَّهِ فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُ ۚ سُبْ حَٰ نَهُۥ وَتَعَٰ لَىٰ عَمّ َا يُشْرِكُو نَ ١Ata amru Allahi falatastaAAjiloohu subhanahu wataAAala AAammayushrikoon
Allah’s edict is coming! So do not seek to hasten it. Immaculate is He and exalted above [having] any partners that they ascribe [to Him].Ali Quli Qarai
The command of Allāh is coming, so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.Saheeh International
-
16:2
يُنَزِّلُ
ٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةَ بِٱ ل رُّوحِ مِنْ أَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن ي َشَا ٓءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذ ِرُوٓ ا۟ أَنّ َهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰ هَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱ تَّقُو نِ ٢Yunazzilu almala-ikata birroohimin amrihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi ananthiroo annahu la ilaha illa anafattaqoon
He sends down the angels with the spirit of His command to whomever He wishes of His servants: ‘Warn [the people] that there is no god except Me; so be wary of Me.’Ali Quli Qarai
He sends down the angels, with the inspiration [i.e., revelation] of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], "Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me."Saheeh International

16:3
خَلَقَ
ٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضَ بِٱ لْحَقِّ ۚ تَعَٰ لَىٰ عَمّ َا يُشْرِكُو نَ ٣Khalaqa assamawati wal-ardabilhaqqi taAAala AAammayushrikoon
He created the heavens and the earth with consummate wisdom. He is above having any partners that they ascribe [to Him].Ali Quli Qarai
He created the heavens and earth in truth. High is He above what they associate with Him.Saheeh International

16:4
خَلَقَ
ٱ لْإِنس َٰ نَ مِن ن ُّطْ فَةٍ ۢف َإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ ۭم ُّبِي نٌۭ ٤Khalaqa al-insana min nutfatinfa-itha huwa khaseemun mubeen
He created man from a drop of [seminal] fluid, and, behold, he is an open contender!Ali Quli Qarai
He created man from a sperm-drop; then at once he is a clear adversary.Saheeh International

16:5
وَ
ٱ لْأَنْعَٰ مَ خَلَقَهَا ۗ لَكُمْ فِيهَا دِفْءٌ ۭو َمَنَٰ فِعُ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُو نَ ٥Wal-anAAama khalaqahalakum feeha dif-on wamanafiAAu waminhata-kuloon
He created the cattle, in which there is warmth for you and [other] uses, and some of them you eat.Ali Quli Qarai
And the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat.Saheeh International

16:6
وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا جَمَالٌ حِينَ تُرِيحُونَ وَحِينَ تَسْرَح
ُو نَ ٦Walakum feeha jamalun heenatureehoona waheena tasrahoon
There is in them a beauty for you when you bring them home for rest and when you drive them forth to pasture.Ali Quli Qarai
And for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty when you bring them in [for the evening] and when you send them out [to pasture].Saheeh International

16:7
وَتَحْمِلُ أَثْقَالَكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَلَ
دٍ ۢل َّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ بَٰ لِغِيهِ إِلَّا بِشِقِّٱ لْأَنف ُسِ ۚ إِنّ َ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌۭ ٧Watahmilu athqalakum ilabaladin lam takoonoo baligheehi illa bishiqqial-anfusi inna rabbakum laraoofun raheem
And they bear your burdens to towns, which you could not reach except by straining yourselves. Indeed your Lord is most kind and merciful.Ali Quli Qarai
And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with difficulty to yourselves. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.Saheeh International

16:8
وَ
ٱ لْخَيْلَ وَٱ لْبِغَالَ وَٱ لْحَمِيرَ لِتَرْكَبُوهَا وَزِينَةً ۭۚ و َيَخْلُقُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُو نَ ٨Walkhayla walbighalawalhameera litarkabooha wazeenatanwayakhluqu ma la taAAlamoon
And horses, mules and asses, for you to ride them, and for pomp, and He creates what you do not know.Ali Quli Qarai
And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.Saheeh International

16:9
وَعَلَى
ٱ للَّهِ قَصْدُٱ ل سَّبِيلِ وَمِنْهَا جَا ٓئِرٌ ۭۚ و َلَوْ شَا ٓءَ لَهَدَىٰ كُمْ أَجْ مَعِي نَ ٩WaAAala Allahi qasdu assabeeliwaminha ja-irun walaw shaa lahadakumajmaAAeen
With Allah rests guidance to the straight path, and some of the paths are devious, and had He wished He would have guided you all.Ali Quli Qarai
And upon Allāh is the direction of the [right] way, and among them [i.e., the various paths] are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all.Saheeh International

16:10
هُوَ
ٱ لَّذِىٓ أَنز َلَ مِنَٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ مَا ٓءً ۭۖ ل َّكُم م ِّنْهُ شَرَابٌ ۭو َمِنْهُ شَجَرٌ ۭف ِيهِ تُسِيمُو نَ ١٠Huwa allathee anzala mina assama-imaan lakum minhu sharabun waminhu shajarun feehituseemoon
It is He who sends down water from the sky: from it you get your drink and with it are [sustained] the plants wherein you pasture your herds.Ali Quli Qarai
It is He who sends down rain from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture [animals].Saheeh International

16:11
يُ
نۢب ِتُ لَكُم ب ِهِٱ ل زَّرْعَ وَٱ ل زَّيْتُونَ وَٱ ل نّ َخِيلَ وَٱ لْأَعْنَٰ بَ وَمِن ك ُلِّٱ ل ثَّمَرَٰ تِ ۗ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَةً ۭل ِّقَوْمٍ ۢي َتَفَكَّرُو نَ ١١Yunbitu lakum bihi azzarAAa wazzaytoonawannakheela wal-aAAnaba wamin kulli aththamaratiinna fee thalika laayatan liqawmin yatafakkaroon
For you He makes the crops grow with it and olives, date palms, vines, and fruits of all kinds. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who reflect.Ali Quli Qarai
He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and of all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.Saheeh International

16:12
وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ
ٱ لَّيْلَ وَٱ ل نّ َهَارَ وَٱ ل شَّمْسَ وَٱ لْقَمَرَ ۖ وَٱ ل نّ ُجُومُ مُسَخَّرَٰ تٌۢ ب ِأَمْرِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَٰ تٍ ۢل ِّقَوْمٍ ۢي َعْقِلُو نَ ١٢Wasakhkhara lakumu allayla wannaharawashshamsa walqamara wannujoomumusakhkharatun bi-amrihi inna fee thalika laayatinliqawmin yaAAqiloon
He disposed the night and the day for you, and the sun, the moon and the stars are disposed by His command. There are indeed signs in that for people who exercise their reason.Ali Quli Qarai
And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.Saheeh International

16:13
وَمَا ذَرَأَ لَكُمْ فِى
ٱ لْأَرْضِ مُخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰ نُهُۥٓ ۗ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَةً ۭل ِّقَوْمٍ ۢي َذَّكَّرُو نَ ١٣Wama tharaa lakum fee al-ardimukhtalifan alwanuhu inna fee thalika laayatanliqawmin yaththakkaroon
And [He disposed for your benefit] whatever He has created for you in the earth of diverse hues—there is indeed a sign in that for a people who take admonition.Ali Quli Qarai
And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember.Saheeh International

16:14
وَهُوَ
ٱ لَّذِى سَخَّرَٱ لْبَحْرَ لِتَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنْهُ لَحْمً ۭا ط َرِيًّ ۭا و َتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟ مِنْهُ حِلْيَةً ۭت َلْبَسُونَهَا وَتَرَىٱ لْفُلْكَ مَوَاخِرَ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْ تَغُوا۟ مِن ف َضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُو نَ ١٤Wahuwa allathee sakhkhara albahralita/kuloo minhu lahman tariyyan watastakhrijoominhu hilyatan talbasoonaha watara alfulkamawakhira feehi walitabtaghoo min fadlihiwalaAAallakum tashkuroon
It is He who disposed the sea [for your benefit] that you may eat from it fresh meat, and obtain from it ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through it, that you may seek His bounty and that you may give thanks.Ali Quli Qarai
And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.Saheeh International

16:15
وَأَلْقَىٰ فِى
ٱ لْأَرْضِ رَوَٰ سِىَ أَن ت َمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَأَنْهَٰ رً ۭا و َسُبُلً ۭال َّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُو نَ ١٥Waalqa fee al-ardi rawasiyaan tameeda bikum waanharan wasubulan laAAallakum tahtadoon
He cast firm mountains in the earth lest it should shake with you, and [made] streams and ways, so that you may be guidedAli Quli Qarai
And He has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it shift with you, and [made] rivers and roads, that you may be guided,Saheeh International
-
16:16
وَعَلَ
ٰ مَٰ تٍ ۢۚ و َبِٱ ل نّ َجْ مِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُو نَ ١٦WaAAalamatin wabinnajmihum yahtadoon
—and the landmarks [as well]—and by the stars they are guided.Ali Quli Qarai
And landmarks. And by the stars they are [also] guided.Saheeh International
-
16:17
أَفَم
َن ي َخْلُقُ كَمَن ل َّا يَخْلُقُ ۗ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُو نَ ١٧Afaman yakhluqu kaman la yakhluquafala tathakkaroon
Is He who creates like one who does not create? Will you not then take admonition?Ali Quli Qarai
Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded?Saheeh International
-
16:18
وَإِ
ن ت َعُدُّوا۟ نِعْمَةَٱ للَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَآ ۗ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ لَغَفُورٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌۭ ١٨Wa-in taAAuddoo niAAmata Allahi latuhsooha inna Allaha laghafoorun raheem
If you enumerate Allah’s blessings, you will not be able to count them. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful,Ali Quli Qarai
And if you should count the favors of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.Saheeh International
-
16:19
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُو نَ ١٩Wallahu yaAAlamu matusirroona wama tuAAlinoon
and Allah knows whatever you hide and whatever you disclose.Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh knows what you conceal and what you declare.Saheeh International
-
16:20
وَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ يَدْ عُونَ مِن د ُونِٱ للَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَئًْ ۭا و َهُمْ يُخْلَقُو نَ ٢٠Wallatheena yadAAoona mindooni Allahi la yakhluqoona shay-an wahumyukhlaqoon
Those whom they invoke besides Allah do not create anything and are themselves created.Ali Quli Qarai
And those they invoke other than Allāh create nothing, and they [themselves] are created.Saheeh International
-
16:21
أَمْوَ
ٰ تٌ غَيْرُ أَحْيَا ٓءٍ ۢۖ و َمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْ عَثُو نَ ٢١Amwatun ghayru ahya-inwama yashAAuroona ayyana yubAAathoon
They are dead and lifeless, and are not aware when they will be resurrected.Ali Quli Qarai
They are [in fact] dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.Saheeh International
-
16:22
إِلَ
ٰ هُكُمْ إِلَٰ هٌ ۭو َٰ حِدٌ ۭۚ ف َٱ لَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ قُلُوبُهُم م ُّنك ِرَةٌ ۭو َهُم م ُّسْتَكْبِرُو نَ ٢٢Ilahukum ilahun wahidunfallatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratiquloobuhum munkiratun wahum mustakbiroon
Your God is the One God. Those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are in denial [of the truth], and they are arrogant.Ali Quli Qarai
Your god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant.Saheeh International
-
16:23
لَا جَرَمَ أَ
نّ َٱ للَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ۚ إِنّ َهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّٱ لْمُسْتَكْبِرِي نَ ٢٣La jarama anna Allaha yaAAlamuma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoona innahu la yuhibbualmustakbireen
Undoubtedly, Allah knows whatever they hide and whatever they disclose. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant.Ali Quli Qarai
Assuredly, Allāh knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant.Saheeh International
-
16:24
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَه
ُم م َّاذَآ أَنز َلَ رَبُّكُمْ ۙ قَالُوٓ ا۟ أَسَٰ طِيرُٱ لْأَوَّلِي نَ ٢٤Wa-itha qeela lahum mathaanzala rabbukum qaloo asateeru al-awwaleen
When they are asked, ‘What is it that your Lord has sent down?’ They say, ‘Myths of the ancients,’Ali Quli Qarai
And when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" they say, "Legends of the former peoples,"Saheeh International
-
16:25
لِيَحْمِل
ُوٓ ا۟ أَوْزَارَهُمْ كَامِلَةً ۭي َوْمَٱ لْقِيَٰ مَةِ ۙ وَمِنْ أَوْزَارِٱ لَّذِينَ يُضِلُّونَهُم ب ِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ أَلَا سَا ٓءَ مَا يَزِرُو نَ ٢٥Liyahmiloo awzarahum kamilatanyawma alqiyamati wamin awzari allatheena yudilloonahumbighayri AAilmin ala saa ma yaziroon
[with the result] that they will bear the full weight of their own burden on the Day of Resurrection, along with part of the burden of those whom they mislead without any knowledge. Behold! Evil is what they bear!Ali Quli Qarai
That they may bear their own burdens [i.e., sins] in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguide without [i.e., by lack of] knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.Saheeh International

16:26
قَ
دْ مَكَرَٱ لَّذِينَ مِن ق َبْ لِهِمْ فَأَتَىٱ للَّهُ بُنْيَٰ نَهُم م ِّنَٱ لْقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَيْهِمُٱ ل سَّقْ فُ مِن ف َوْقِهِمْ وَأَتَىٰ هُمُٱ لْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُو نَ ٢٦Qad makara allatheena min qablihimfaata Allahu bunyanahum mina alqawaAAidifakharra AAalayhimu assaqfu min fawqihim waatahumualAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroon
Those who were before them [had also] schemed. Then Allah came at their edifice from the foundations and the roof fell down upon them from above and the punishment overtook them whence they were not aware.Ali Quli Qarai
Those before them had already plotted, but Allāh came at [i.e., uprooted] their building from the foundations, so the roof fell upon them from above them, and the punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.Saheeh International

16:27
ثُ
مّ َ يَوْمَٱ لْقِيَٰ مَةِ يُخْزِيهِمْ وَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَا ٓءِىَٱ لَّذِينَ كُنت ُمْ تُشَٰٓ قُّونَ فِيهِمْ ۚ قَالَٱ لَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱ لْعِلْمَ إِنّ َٱ لْخِزْىَٱ لْيَوْمَ وَٱ ل سُّو ٓءَ عَلَىٱ لْكَٰ فِرِي نَ ٢٧Thumma yawma alqiyamati yukhzeehimwayaqoolu ayna shuraka-iya allatheena kuntum tushaqqoonafeehim qala allatheena ootoo alAAilma inna alkhizyaalyawma wassoo-a AAala alkafireen
Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them, and say, ‘Where are My “partners” for whose sake you used to defy [Allah]?’ Those who were given knowledge will say, ‘Indeed today disgrace and distress pursue the faithless.’Ali Quli Qarai
Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My 'partners' for whom you used to oppose [the believers]?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Indeed disgrace, this Day, and evil are upon the disbelievers" -Saheeh International

16:28
ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّى
ٰ هُمُٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةُ ظَالِمِىٓ أَنف ُسِهِمْ ۖ فَأَلْقَوُا۟ ٱ ل سَّلَمَ مَا كُنّ َا نَعْمَلُ مِن س ُو ٓءٍۭ ۚ ب َلَىٰٓ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ ب ِمَا كُنت ُمْ تَعْمَلُو نَ ٢٨Allatheena tatawaffahumu almala-ikatuthalimee anfusihim faalqawoo assalamama kunna naAAmalu min soo-in bala inna AllahaAAaleemun bima kuntum taAAmaloon
—Those whom the angels take away while they were wronging themselves. Thereat they submit: ‘We were not doing any evil!’ ‘Yes, [the angels say to them,] indeed Allah knows best what you used to do!Ali Quli Qarai
The ones whom the angels take in death [while] wronging themselves, and [who] then offer submission, [saying], "We were not doing any evil." But, yes! Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of what you used to do.Saheeh International
-
16:29
فَ
ٱ دْ خُلُوٓ ا۟ أَبْ وَٰ بَ جَهَنّ َمَ خَٰ لِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ فَلَبِئْسَ مَثْوَىٱ لْمُتَكَبِّرِي نَ ٢٩Fadkhuloo abwaba jahannama khalideenafeeha falabi/sa mathwa almutakabbireen
Enter the gates of hell to remain in it [forever]. Evil is the [final] abode of the arrogant.’Ali Quli Qarai
So enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and how wretched is the residence of the arrogant.Saheeh International

16:30
۞ وَقِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ
ٱ تَّقَوْا۟ مَاذَآ أَنز َلَ رَبُّكُمْ ۚ قَالُوا۟ خَيْرً ۭا ۗ ل ِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَٰ ذِهِٱ ل دُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ ۭۚ و َلَدَارُٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ ۭۚ و َلَنِعْمَ دَارُٱ لْمُتَّقِي نَ ٣٠Waqeela lillatheena ittaqaw mathaanzala rabbukum qaloo khayran lillatheena ahsanoofee hathihi addunya hasanatun waladarual-akhirati khayrun walaniAAma daru almuttaqeen
But those who were Godwary will be asked, ‘What is it that your Lord has sent down?’ They will say, ‘Good.’ For those who do good in this world there will be a good [reward], and the abode of the Hereafter is better, and the abode of the Godwary is surely excellent:Ali Quli Qarai
And it will be said to those who feared Allāh, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -Saheeh International

16:31
جَ
نّ َٰ تُ عَدْ نٍ ۢي َدْ خُلُونَهَا تَجْ رِى مِن ت َحْتِهَاٱ لْأَنْهَٰ رُ ۖ لَهُمْ فِيهَا مَا يَشَا ٓءُونَ ۚ كَذَٰ لِكَ يَجْ زِىٱ للَّهُٱ لْمُتَّقِي نَ ٣١Jannatu AAadnin yadkhuloonahatajree min tahtiha al-anharu lahum feehama yashaoona kathalika yajzee Allahualmuttaqeen
the Gardens of Eden, which they will enter, with streams running in them. There they will have whatever they wish, and thus does Allah reward the GodwaryAli Quli Qarai
Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allāh reward the righteous -Saheeh International

16:32
ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّى
ٰ هُمُٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةُ طَيِّبِينَ ۙ يَقُولُونَ سَلَٰ مٌ عَلَيْكُمُٱ دْ خُلُوا۟ ٱ لْجَنّ َةَ بِمَا كُنت ُمْ تَعْمَلُو نَ ٣٢Allatheena tatawaffahumu almala-ikatutayyibeena yaqooloona salamun AAalaykumu odkhulooaljannata bima kuntum taAAmaloon
—those whom the angels take away while they are pure. They say [to them], ‘Peace be to you! Enter paradise because of what you used to do.’Ali Quli Qarai
The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do."Saheeh International

16:33
هَلْ يَ
نظ ُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن ت َأْتِيَهُمُٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۚ كَذَٰ لِكَ فَعَلَٱ لَّذِينَ مِن ق َبْ لِهِمْ ۚ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُٱ للَّهُ وَلَٰ كِن ك َانُوٓ ا۟ أَنف ُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُو نَ ٣٣Hal yanthuroona illa anta/tiyahumu almala-ikatu aw ya/tiya amru rabbika kathalikafaAAala allatheena min qablihim wama thalamahumuAllahu walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoon
Do they not consider that the angels may come to them, or your Lord’s edict may come? Those who were before them had acted likewise; Allah did not wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.Ali Quli Qarai
Do they [i.e., the disbelievers] await except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allāh wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves.Saheeh International
-
16:34
فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَئَِّاتُ مَا عَمِلُو
ا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم م َّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُو نَ ٣٤Faasabahum sayyi-atu maAAamiloo wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihiyastahzi-oon
So the evils of what they had earned visited them, and they were besieged by what they used to deride.Ali Quli Qarai
So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.Saheeh International
-
16:35
وَقَالَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَوْ شَا ٓءَٱ للَّهُ مَا عَبَدْ نَا مِن د ُونِهِۦ مِن ش َىْءٍ ۢن َّحْنُ وَلَآ ءَابَا ٓؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن د ُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍ ۢۚ ك َذَٰ لِكَ فَعَلَٱ لَّذِينَ مِن ق َبْ لِهِمْ ۚ فَهَلْ عَلَىٱ ل رُّسُلِ إِلَّاٱ لْبَلَٰ غُٱ لْمُبِي نُ ٣٥Waqala allatheena ashrakoo lawshaa Allahu ma AAabadna min doonihimin shay-in nahnu wala abaonawala harramna min doonihi min shay-in kathalikafaAAala allatheena min qablihim fahal AAala arrusuliilla albalaghu almubeen
The polytheists say, ‘Had Allah wished, we would not have worshiped anything besides Him—neither we, nor our fathers—nor we would have forbidden anything without His sanction.’ Those who were before them had acted likewise. Is the apostles’ duty anything but to communicate in clear terms?Ali Quli Qarai
And those who associate others with Allāh say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification?Saheeh International

16:36
وَلَقَ
دْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمّ َةٍ ۢر َّسُولًا أَنِٱ عْبُدُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ وَٱ جْ تَنِبُوا۟ ٱ ل طَّٰ غُوتَ ۖ فَمِنْهُم م َّنْ هَدَىٱ للَّهُ وَمِنْهُم م َّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِٱ ل ضَّلَٰ لَةُ ۚ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ فَٱ نظ ُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰ قِبَةُٱ لْمُكَذِّبِي نَ ٣٦Walaqad baAAathna fee kulli ommatinrasoolan ani oAAbudoo Allaha wajtaniboo attaghootafaminhum man hada Allahu waminhum man haqqatAAalayhi addalalatu faseeroo fee al-ardifanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatualmukaththibeen
Certainly We raised an apostle in every nation [to preach:] ‘Worship Allah, and shun fake deities.’ Among them were some whom Allah guided, and among them were some who deserved to be in error. So travel over the land and observe how was the fate of the deniers.Ali Quli Qarai
And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allāh and avoid ṭāghūt." And among them were those whom Allāh guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.Saheeh International

16:37
إِ
ن ت َحْرِصْ عَلَىٰ هُدَىٰ هُمْ فَإِنّ َٱ للَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَن ي ُضِلُّ ۖ وَمَا لَهُم م ِّن ن َّٰ صِرِي نَ ٣٧In tahris AAala hudahumfa-inna Allaha la yahdee man yudillu wamalahum min nasireen
Even if you are eager for them to be guided, indeed Allah does not guide those who mislead [others], and they will have no helpers.Ali Quli Qarai
[Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muḥammad], indeed, Allāh does not guide those He sends astray, and they will have no helpers.Saheeh International
-
16:38
وَأَ
قْ سَمُوا۟ بِٱ للَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰ نِهِمْ ۙ لَا يَبْ عَثُٱ للَّهُ مَن ي َمُوتُ ۚ بَلَىٰ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّ ۭا و َلَٰ كِنّ َ أَكْثَرَٱ ل نّ َاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُو نَ ٣٨Waaqsamoo billahi jahda aymanihimla yabAAathu Allahu man yamootu bala waAAdanAAalayhi haqqan walakinna akthara annasila yaAAlamoon
They swear by Allah with solemn oaths that Allah will not resurrect those who die. Yes indeed [He will], it is a promise binding upon Him, but most people do not know,Ali Quli Qarai
And they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths [that] Allāh will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.Saheeh International
-
16:39
لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ
ٱ لَّذِى يَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓ ا۟ أَنّ َهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَٰ ذِبِي نَ ٣٩Liyubayyina lahumu allatheeyakhtalifoona feehi waliyaAAlama allatheena kafarooannahum kanoo kathibeen
so that He may clarify for them what they differ about, and that the faithless may know that they were liars.Ali Quli Qarai
[It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars.Saheeh International
-
16:40
إِ
نّ َمَا قَوْلُنَا لِشَىْءٍ إِذَآ أَرَدْ نَٰ هُ أَن ن َّقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن ف َيَكُو نُ ٤٠Innama qawluna lishay-inithaaradnahu an naqoola lahu kun fayakoon
All that We say to a thing, when We will it, is to say to it ‘Be!’ and it is.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.Saheeh International
-
16:41
وَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِىٱ للَّهِ مِنۢ ب َعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ لَنُبَوِّئَنّ َهُمْ فِىٱ ل دُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ۭۖ و َلَأَجْ رُٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُو نَ ٤١Wallatheena hajaroofee Allahi min baAAdi ma thulimoolanubawwi-annahum fee addunya hasanatanwalaajru al-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoon
Those who migrate for the sake of Allah after they have been wronged, We will surely settle them in a good place in the world, and the reward of the Hereafter is surely greater, had they knownAli Quli Qarai
And those who emigrated for [the cause of] Allāh after they had been wronged - We will surely settle them in this world in a good place; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they could know.Saheeh International

16:42
ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُو
ا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُو نَ ٤٢Allatheena sabaroo waAAalarabbihim yatawakkaloon
—those who are patient and who put their trust in their Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
[They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied.Saheeh International
-
16:43
وَم
َآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ق َبْ لِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالً ۭان ُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ ۚ فَسَْٔلُوٓ ا۟ أَهْلَٱ ل ذِّكْرِ إِن ك ُنت ُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُو نَ ٤٣Wama arsalna min qablika illarijalan noohee ilayhim fas-aloo ahla aththikriin kuntum la taAAlamoon
We did not send [any apostles] before you except as men to whom We revealed. Ask the People of the Reminder if you do not know.Ali Quli Qarai
And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.Saheeh International

16:44
بِ
ٱ لْبَيِّنَٰ تِ وَٱ ل زُّبُرِ ۗ وَأَنز َلْنَآ إِلَيْكَٱ ل ذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنّ َاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُو نَ ٤٤Bilbayyinati wazzuburiwaanzalna ilayka aththikra litubayyina linnasima nuzzila ilayhim walaAAallahum yatafakkaroon
[We sent them] with manifest proofs and scriptures. We have sent down the reminder to you so that you may clarify for the people that which has been sent down to them, so that they may reflect.Ali Quli Qarai
[We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message [i.e., the Qur’ān] that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.Saheeh International
-
16:45
أَفَأَمِنَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱ ل سَّئَِّاتِ أَن ي َخْسِفَٱ للَّهُ بِهِمُٱ لْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُٱ لْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُو نَ ٤٥Afaamina allatheena makaroo assayyi-atian yakhsifa Allahu bihimu al-arda aw ya/tiyahumualAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroon
Do those who devise evil schemes feel secure that Allah will not make the earth swallow them, or the punishment will not overtake them whence they are not aware?Ali Quli Qarai
Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allāh will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?Saheeh International
-
16:46
أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِى تَقَلُّبِهِمْ فَمَا ه
ُم ب ِمُعْجِزِي نَ ٤٦Aw ya/khuthahum fee taqallubihim famahum bimuAAjizeen
Or that He will not seize them in the midst of their bustle, whereupon they will not be able to frustrate [Him]?Ali Quli Qarai
Or that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure [i.e., escape from Him]?Saheeh International
-
16:47
أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَىٰ تَخَوُّ
فٍ ۢف َإِنّ َ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌ ٤٧Aw ya/khuthahum AAalatakhawwufin fa-inna rabbakum laraoofun raheem
Or that He will not visit them with attrition? Indeed your Lord is most kind and merciful.Ali Quli Qarai
Or that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]? But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.Saheeh International
-
16:48
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْ
ا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا خَلَقَٱ للَّهُ مِن ش َىْءٍ ۢي َتَفَيَّؤُا۟ ظِلَٰ لُهُۥ عَنِٱ لْيَمِينِ وَٱ ل شَّمَا ٓئِلِ سُجَّدً ۭا ل ِّلَّهِ وَهُمْ دَٰ خِرُو نَ ٤٨Awa lam yaraw ila ma khalaqaAllahu min shay-in yatafayyao thilaluhuAAani alyameeni washshama-ili sujjadan lillahiwahum dakhiroon
Have they not regarded that whatever thing Allah has created casts its shadow to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allah in utter humility?Ali Quli Qarai
Have they not considered what things Allāh has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allāh, while they [i.e., those creations] are humble.Saheeh International
-
16:49
وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَا فِى
ٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَمَا فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ مِن د َا ٓبَّةٍ ۢو َٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةُ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُو نَ ٤٩Walillahi yasjudu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi min dabbatin walmala-ikatuwahum la yastakbiroon
To Allah prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, including animals and angels, and they are not arrogant.Ali Quli Qarai
And to Allāh prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant.Saheeh International
-
16:50
يَخَافُونَ رَبَّه
ُم م ِّن ف َوْقِهِمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُو نَ ۩ ٥٠Yakhafoona rabbahum min fawqihimwayafAAaloona ma yu/maroon
They fear their Lord above them, and do what they are commanded.Ali Quli Qarai
They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded.Saheeh International
-
16:51
۞ وَقَالَ
ٱ للَّهُ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓ ا۟ إِلَٰ هَيْنِٱ ثْنَيْنِ ۖ إِنّ َمَا هُوَ إِلَٰ هٌ ۭو َٰ حِدٌ ۭۖ ف َإِيَّٰ ىَ فَٱ رْهَبُو نِ ٥١Waqala Allahu latattakhithoo ilahayni ithnayni innama huwailahun wahidun fa-iyyaya farhaboon
Allah has said, ‘Do not worship two gods. Indeed He is the One God, so be in awe of Me [alone].’Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh has said, "Do not take for yourselves two deities. He [i.e., Allāh] is but one God, so fear only Me."Saheeh International
-
16:52
وَلَهُ
ۥ مَا فِىٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضِ وَلَهُٱ ل دِّينُ وَاصِبًا ۚ أَفَغَيْرَٱ للَّهِ تَتَّقُو نَ ٥٢Walahu ma fee assamawatiwal-ardi walahu addeenu wasibanafaghayra Allahi tattaqoon
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him belongs the enduring religion. Will you, then, be wary of other than Allah?Ali Quli Qarai
And to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is [due] worship constantly. Then is it other than Allāh that you fear?Saheeh International
-
16:53
وَمَا بِك
ُم م ِّن ن ِّعْمَةٍ ۢف َمِنَٱ للَّهِ ۖ ثُمّ َ إِذَا مَسَّكُمُٱ ل ضُّرُّ فَإِلَيْهِ تَجْ َٔرُو نَ ٥٣Wama bikum min niAAmatin famina Allahithumma itha massakumu addurru fa-ilayhitaj-aroon
Whatever blessing you have is from Allah, and when a distress befalls you, you make entreaties to Him.Ali Quli Qarai
And whatever you have of favor - it is from Allāh. Then when adversity touches you, to Him you cry for help.Saheeh International

16:54
ثُ
مّ َ إِذَا كَشَفَٱ ل ضُّرَّ عَنك ُمْ إِذَا فَرِيقٌ ۭم ِّنك ُم ب ِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُو نَ ٥٤Thumma itha kashafa addurraAAankum itha fareequn minkum birabbihim yushrikoon
Then, when He removes the distress from you—behold, a part of them ascribe partners to their Lord,Ali Quli Qarai
Then when He removes the adversity from you, at once a party of you associates others with their LordSaheeh International
-
16:55
لِيَكْفُرُو
ا۟ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰ هُمْ ۚ فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُو نَ ٥٥Liyakfuroo bima ataynahumfatamattaAAoo fasawfa taAAlamoon
being unthankful for what We have given them. So let them enjoy. Soon they shall know!Ali Quli Qarai
So they will deny what We have given them. Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know.Saheeh International
-
16:56
وَيَ
جْ عَلُونَ لِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ نَصِيبً ۭا م ِّمّ َا رَزَقْ نَٰ هُمْ ۗ تَٱ للَّهِ لَتُسَْٔلُنّ َ عَمّ َا كُنت ُمْ تَفْتَرُو نَ ٥٦WayajAAaloona lima layaAAlamoona naseeban mimma razaqnahum tallahilatus-alunna AAamma kuntum taftaroon
They assign a share in what We have provided them to what they do not know. By Allah, you will surely be questioned concerning what you used to fabricate.Ali Quli Qarai
And they assign to what they do not know [i.e., false deities] a portion of that which We have provided them. By Allāh, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.Saheeh International
-
16:57
وَيَ
جْ عَلُونَ لِلَّهِٱ لْبَنَٰ تِ سُبْ حَٰ نَهُۥ ۙ وَلَهُم م َّا يَشْتَهُو نَ ٥٧WayajAAaloona lillahi albanatisubhanahu walahum ma yashtahoon
And they attribute daughters to Allah—immaculate is He—while they will have what they desire!Ali Quli Qarai
And they attribute to Allāh daughters - exalted is He - and for them is what they desire [i.e., sons].Saheeh International
-
16:58
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُه
ُم ب ِٱ لْأُنث َىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْ هُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّ ۭا و َهُوَ كَظِي مٌۭ ٥٨Wa-itha bushshira ahaduhum bilonthathalla wajhuhu muswaddan wahuwa katheem
When one of them is brought the news of a female [newborn], his face becomes darkened, and he chokes with suppressed agony.Ali Quli Qarai
And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.Saheeh International
-
16:59
يَتَوَ
ٰ رَىٰ مِنَٱ لْقَوْمِ مِن س ُو ٓءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِۦٓ ۚ أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ عَلَىٰ هُونٍ أَمْ يَدُسُّهُۥ فِىٱ ل تُّرَابِ ۗ أَلَا سَا ٓءَ مَا يَحْكُمُو نَ ٥٩Yatawara mina alqawmi minsoo-i ma bushshira bihi ayumsikuhu AAala hoonin amyadussuhu fee atturabi ala saa mayahkumoon
He hides from the people out of distress at the news he has been brought: shall he retain it in humiliation, or bury it in the ground! Behold! Evil is the judgement that they make.Ali Quli Qarai
He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide.Saheeh International
-
16:60
لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِ
ٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ مَثَلُٱ ل سَّوْءِ ۖ وَلِلَّهِٱ لْمَثَلُٱ لْأَعْلَىٰ ۚ وَهُوَٱ لْعَزِيزُٱ لْحَكِي مُ ٦٠Lillatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratimathalu assaw-i walillahi almathalu al-aAAlawahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeem
There is an evil description for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, and the loftiest description belongs to Allah, and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.Ali Quli Qarai
For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description [i.e., an attribute] of evil; and for Allāh is the highest attribute. And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise.Saheeh International
-
16:61
وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ
ٱ للَّهُٱ ل نّ َاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم م َّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن د َا ٓبَّةٍ ۢو َلَٰ كِن ي ُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ ۢم ُّسَمًّ ۭى ۖ ف َإِذَا جَا ٓءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةً ۭۖ و َلَا يَسْتَقْ دِمُو نَ ٦١Walaw yu-akhithu Allahuannasa bithulmihim ma tarakaAAalayha min dabbatin walakin yu-akhkhiruhumila ajalin musamman fa-itha jaa ajaluhum layasta/khiroona saAAatan wala yastaqdimoon
Were Allah to take mankind to task for their wrongdoing, He would not leave any living being upon it. But He respites them until a specified time; so when their time comes they shall not defer it by a single hour nor shall they advance it.Ali Quli Qarai
And if Allāh were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon it [i.e., the earth] any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].Saheeh International
-
16:62
وَيَ
جْ عَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ وَتَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُهُمُٱ لْكَذِبَ أَنّ َ لَهُمُٱ لْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ لَا جَرَمَ أَنّ َ لَهُمُٱ ل نّ َارَ وَأَنّ َهُم م ُّفْرَطُو نَ ٦٢WayajAAaloona lillahi mayakrahoona watasifu alsinatuhumu alkathiba annalahumu alhusna la jarama anna lahumu annarawaannahum mufratoon
They attribute to Allah what they dislike [for themselves], and their tongues assert the lie that the best of rewards [in the Hereafter] will be theirs. Undoubtedly, the Fire shall be their lot and they will be foremost [in entering it].Ali Quli Qarai
And they attribute to Allāh that which they dislike [i.e., daughters], and their tongues assert the lie that they will have the best [from Him]. Assuredly, they will have the Fire, and they will be [therein] neglected.Saheeh International

16:63
تَ
ٱ للَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ ۢم ِّن ق َبْ لِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُٱ ل شَّيْطَٰ نُ أَعْمَٰ لَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُٱ لْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِي مٌۭ ٦٣Tallahi laqad arsalnaila omamin min qablika fazayyana lahumu ashshaytanuaAAmalahum fahuwa waliyyuhumu alyawma walahum AAathabunaleem
By Allah, We have certainly sent [apostles] to nations before you. But Satan made their deeds seem decorous to them. So he is their master today and there is a painful punishment for them.Ali Quli Qarai
By Allāh, We did certainly send [messengers] to nations before you, but Satan made their deeds attractive to them. And he is their [i.e., the disbelievers] ally today [as well], and they will have a painful punishment.Saheeh International
-
16:64
وَم
َآ أَنز َلْنَا عَلَيْكَٱ لْكِتَٰ بَ إِلَّا لِتُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُٱ لَّذِىٱ خْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ ۙ وَهُدً ۭى و َرَحْمَةً ۭل ِّقَوْمٍ ۢي ُؤْمِنُو نَ ٦٤Wama anzalna AAalayka alkitabailla litubayyina lahumu allathee ikhtalafoo feehiwahudan warahmatan liqawmin yu/minoon
We did not send down the Book to you except [for the purpose] that you may clarify for them what they differ about, and as a guidance and mercy for a people who have faith.Ali Quli Qarai
And We have not revealed to you the Book, [O Muḥammad], except for you to make clear to them that wherein they have differed and as guidance and mercy for a people who believe.Saheeh International

16:65
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ أَنز َلَ مِنَٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ مَا ٓءً ۭف َأَحْيَا بِهِٱ لْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَآ ۚ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَةً ۭل ِّقَوْمٍ ۢي َسْمَعُو نَ ٦٥Wallahu anzala mina assama-imaan faahya bihi al-arda baAAdamawtiha inna fee thalika laayatan liqawminyasmaAAoon
Allah sends down water from the sky with which He revives the earth after its death. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who listen.Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh has sent down rain from the sky and given life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who listen.Saheeh International

16:66
وَإِ
نّ َ لَكُمْ فِىٱ لْأَنْعَٰ مِ لَعِبْ رَةً ۭۖ ن ُّسْقِيكُم م ِّمّ َا فِى بُطُونِهِۦ مِنۢ ب َيْنِ فَرْثٍ ۢو َدَمٍ ۢل َّبَنًا خَالِصً ۭا س َا ٓئِغً ۭا ل ِّلشَّٰ رِبِي نَ ٦٦Wa-inna lakum fee al-anAAamilaAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butoonihi min baynifarthin wadamin labanan khalisan sa-ighan lishsharibeen
There is indeed a lesson for you in the cattle: We give you a drink pleasant to those who drink, pure milk, which is in their bellies, between [intestinal] waste and blood.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, for you in grazing livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from what is in their bellies - between excretion and blood - pure milk, palatable to drinkers.Saheeh International

16:67
وَمِ
ن ث َمَرَٰ تِٱ ل نّ َخِيلِ وَٱ لْأَعْنَٰ بِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهُ سَكَرً ۭا و َرِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۗ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَةً ۭل ِّقَوْمٍ ۢي َعْقِلُو نَ ٦٧Wamin thamarati annakheeli wal-aAAnabitattakhithoona minhu sakaran warizqan hasanan innafee thalika laayatan liqawmin yaAAqiloon
From the fruits of date palms and vines you draw wine and goodly provision. There are indeed signs in that for people who exercise their reason.Ali Quli Qarai
And from the fruits of the palm trees and grapevines you take intoxicant and good provision. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who reason.Saheeh International

16:68
وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى
ٱ ل نّ َحْلِ أَنِٱ تَّخِذِى مِنَٱ لْجِبَالِ بُيُوتً ۭا و َمِنَٱ ل شَّجَرِ وَمِمّ َا يَعْرِشُو نَ ٦٨Waawha rabbuka ila annahliani ittakhithee mina aljibali buyootan wamina ashshajariwamimma yaAArishoon
And your Lord inspired the bee [saying]: ‘Make your home in the mountains, and on the trees and the trellises that they erect.Ali Quli Qarai
And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses [i.e., hives], and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.Saheeh International
-
16:69
ثُ
مّ َ كُلِى مِن ك ُلِّٱ ل ثَّمَرَٰ تِ فَٱ سْلُكِى سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلً ۭاۚ ي َخْرُجُ مِنۢ ب ُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ ۭم ُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰ نُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَا ٓءٌ ۭل ِّلنّ َاسِ ۗ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَةً ۭل ِّقَوْمٍ ۢي َتَفَكَّرُو نَ ٦٩Thumma kulee min kulli aththamaratifaslukee subula rabbiki thululan yakhruju min butoonihasharabun mukhtalifun alwanuhu feehi shifaonlinnasi inna fee thalika laayatanliqawmin yatafakkaroon
Then eat from every [kind of] fruit and follow meekly the ways of your Lord.’ There issues from its belly a juice of diverse hues, in which there is a cure for the people. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who reflect.Ali Quli Qarai
Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.Saheeh International

16:70
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ ثُمّ َ يَتَوَفَّىٰ كُمْ ۚ وَمِنك ُم م َّن ي ُرَدُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَرْذَلِٱ لْعُمُرِ لِكَىْ لَا يَعْلَمَ بَعْدَ عِلْمٍ ۢش َئًْا ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ عَلِيمٌ ۭق َدِي رٌۭ ٧٠Wallahu khalaqakum thummayatawaffakum waminkum man yuraddu ila arthalialAAumuri likay la yaAAlama baAAda AAilmin shay-an innaAllaha AAaleemun qadeer
Allah has created you, then He takes you away, and there are some among you who are relegated to the nethermost age so that he knows nothing after [having possessed] some knowledge. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-powerful.Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh created you; then He will take you in death. And among you is he who is reversed to the most decrepit [old] age so that he will not know, after [having had] knowledge, a thing. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing and Competent.Saheeh International
-
16:71
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ فَضَّلَ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۢف ِىٱ ل رِّزْقِ ۚ فَمَاٱ لَّذِينَ فُضِّلُوا۟ بِرَا ٓدِّى رِزْقِهِمْ عَلَىٰ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰ نُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِيهِ سَوَا ٓءٌ ۚ أَفَبِنِعْمَةِٱ للَّهِ يَجْ حَدُو نَ ٧١Wallahu faddala baAAdakumAAala baAAdin fee arrizqi fama allatheenafuddiloo biraddee rizqihim AAala mamalakat aymanuhum fahum feehi sawaon afabiniAAmatiAllahi yajhadoon
Allah has granted some of you an advantage over others in [respect of] provision. Those who have been granted an advantage do not give over their provision to their slaves so that they become equal in its respect. What, do they deny the blessing of Allah?Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh has favored some of you over others in provision. But those who were favored [i.e., given more] would not hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess [i.e., slaves] so they would be equal to them therein. Then is it the favor of Allāh they reject?Saheeh International
-
16:72
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم م ِّنْ أَنف ُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰ جً ۭا و َجَعَلَ لَكُم م ِّنْ أَزْوَٰ جِكُم ب َنِينَ وَحَفَدَةً ۭو َرَزَقَكُم م ِّنَٱ ل طَّيِّبَٰ تِ ۚ أَفَبِٱ لْبَٰ طِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَتِٱ للَّهِ هُمْ يَكْفُرُو نَ ٧٢Wallahu jaAAala lakum minanfusikum azwajan wajaAAala lakum min azwajikumbaneena wahafadatan warazaqakum mina attayyibatiafabilbatili yu/minoona wabiniAAmati Allahihum yakfuroon
Allah made for you mates from your own selves and appointed for you children and grandchildren from your mates, and We provided you with all the good things. What, do they believe in falsehood while they deny the blessing of Allah?Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allāh they disbelieve?Saheeh International
-
16:73
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِ
ن د ُونِٱ للَّهِ مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ رِزْقً ۭا م ِّنَٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضِ شَئًْ ۭا و َلَا يَسْتَطِيعُو نَ ٧٣WayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi mala yamliku lahum rizqan mina assamawatiwal-ardi shay-an wala yastateeAAoon
They worship besides Allah what has no power to provide them with anything from the heavens and the earth, nor are they capable [of anything].Ali Quli Qarai
And they worship besides Allāh that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable.Saheeh International
-
16:74
فَلَا تَضْرِبُو
ا۟ لِلَّهِٱ لْأَمْثَالَ ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنت ُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُو نَ ٧٤Fala tadriboo lillahial-amthala inna Allaha yaAAlamu waantum lataAAlamoon
So do not draw comparisons for Allah: indeed Allah knows and you do not know.Ali Quli Qarai
So do not assert similarities to Allāh. Indeed, Allāh knows and you do not know.Saheeh International

16:75
۞ ضَرَبَ
ٱ للَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبْ دً ۭا م َّمْلُوكً ۭا ل َّا يَقْ دِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ ۢو َمَن ر َّزَقْ نَٰ هُ مِنّ َا رِزْقًا حَسَنً ۭا ف َهُوَ يُنف ِقُ مِنْهُ سِرًّ ۭا و َجَهْرًا ۖ هَلْ يَسْتَوُۥ نَ ۚٱ لْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُو نَ ٧٥Daraba Allahu mathalan AAabdanmamlookan la yaqdiru AAala shay-in waman razaqnahuminna rizqan hasanan fahuwa yunfiqu minhu sirranwajahran hal yastawoona alhamdu lillahi balaktharuhum la yaAAlamoon
Allah draws a parable: a slave owned [by his master] who has no power over anything, and another one [a free man] whom We have provided a goodly provision and who spends out of it secretly and openly. Are they equal? All praise belongs to Allah. But most of them do not know.Ali Quli Qarai
Allāh presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allāh! But most of them do not know.Saheeh International

16:76
وَضَرَبَ
ٱ للَّهُ مَثَلً ۭار َّجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَبْ كَمُ لَا يَقْ دِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ ۢو َهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَىٰ مَوْلَىٰ هُ أَيْنَمَا يُوَجِّههُّ لَا يَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ ۖ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى هُوَ وَمَن ي َأْمُرُ بِٱ لْعَدْ لِ ۙ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰ طٍ ۢم ُّسْتَقِي مٍۢ ٧٦Wadaraba Allahu mathalanrajulayni ahaduhuma abkamu la yaqdiru AAalashay-in wahuwa kallun AAala mawlahu aynamayuwajjihhu la ya/ti bikhayrin hal yastawee huwa wamanya/muru bilAAadli wahuwa AAala siratinmustaqeem
Allah draws [another] parable: Two men, one of whom is dumb, having no power over anything and who is a liability to his master: wherever he directs him he does not bring any good. Is he equal to someone who enjoins justice and is [steady] on a straight path?Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh presents an example of two men, one of them dumb and unable to do a thing, while he is a burden to his guardian. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice, while he is on a straight path?Saheeh International

16:77
وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ
ٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَآ أَمْرُٱ ل سَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمْحِٱ لْبَصَرِ أَوْ هُوَ أَقْ رَبُ ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۢق َدِي رٌۭ ٧٧Walillahi ghaybu assamawatiwal-ardi wama amru assaAAatiilla kalamhi albasari aw huwa aqrabu innaAllaha AAala kulli shay-in qadeer
To Allah belongs the Unseen of the heavens and the earth. The matter of the Hour is just like the twinkling of an eye, or [even] swifter. Indeed Allah has power over all things.Ali Quli Qarai
And to Allāh belongs the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. And the command for the Hour is not but as a glance of the eye or even nearer. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.Saheeh International
-
16:78
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ أَخْرَجَكُم م ِّنۢ ب ُطُونِ أُمّ َهَٰ تِكُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ شَئًْ ۭا و َجَعَلَ لَكُمُٱ ل سَّمْعَ وَٱ لْأَبْ صَٰ رَ وَٱ لْأَفِْٔدَةَ ۙ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُو نَ ٧٨Wallahu akhrajakum min butooniommahatikum la taAAlamoona shay-an wajaAAala lakumuassamAAa wal-absara wal-af-idatalaAAallakum tashkuroon
Allah has brought you forth from the bellies of your mothers while you did not know anything. He made for you hearing, eyesight, and hearts so that you may give thanks.Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect] that perhaps you would be grateful.Saheeh International
-
16:79
أَلَمْ يَرَوْ
ا۟ إِلَىٱ ل طَّيْرِ مُسَخَّرَٰ تٍ ۢف ِى جَوِّٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنّ َ إِلَّاٱ للَّهُ ۗ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَٰ تٍ ۢل ِّقَوْمٍ ۢي ُؤْمِنُو نَ ٧٩Alam yaraw ila attayrimusakhkharatin fee jawwi assama-i mayumsikuhunna illa Allahu inna fee thalika laayatinliqawmin yu/minoon
Have they not regarded the birds disposed in the air of the sky: no one sustains them except Allah. There are indeed signs in that for a people who have faith.Ali Quli Qarai
Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up except Allāh. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.Saheeh International
-
16:80
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم م ِّنۢ ب ُيُوتِكُمْ سَكَنً ۭا و َجَعَلَ لَكُم م ِّن ج ُلُودِٱ لْأَنْعَٰ مِ بُيُوتً ۭا ت َسْتَخِفُّونَهَا يَوْمَ ظَعْنِكُمْ وَيَوْمَ إِقَامَتِكُمْ ۙ وَمِنْ أَصْوَافِهَا وَأَوْبَارِهَا وَأَشْعَارِهَآ أَثَٰ ثً ۭا و َمَتَٰ عًا إِلَىٰ حِي نٍۢ ٨٠Wallahu jaAAala lakum minbuyootikum sakanan wajaAAala lakum min juloodi al-anAAamibuyootan tastakhiffoonaha yawma thaAAnikumwayawma iqamatikum wamin aswafihawaawbariha waashAAariha athathanwamataAAan ila heen
It is Allah who has made your homes as a place of rest for you and He made for you homes out of the skins of the cattle which you find portable on the day of your shifting and on the day of your halt, and out of their wool, fur and hair [He has appointed] furniture and wares [enduring] for a while.Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh has made for you from your homes a place of rest and made for you from the hides of the animals tents which you find light on your day of travel and your day of encampment; and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing and enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time.Saheeh International
-
16:81
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم م ِّمّ َا خَلَقَ ظِلَٰ لً ۭاو َجَعَلَ لَكُم م ِّنَٱ لْجِبَالِ أَكْنَٰ نً ۭا و َجَعَلَ لَكُمْ سَرَٰ بِيلَ تَقِيكُمُٱ لْحَرَّ وَسَرَٰ بِيلَ تَقِيكُم ب َأْسَكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰ لِكَ يُتِمّ ُ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْلِمُو نَ ٨١Wallahu jaAAala lakum mimmakhalaqa thilalan wajaAAala lakum mina aljibaliaknanan wajaAAala lakum sarabeela taqeekumu alharrawasarabeela taqeekum ba/sakum kathalika yutimmuniAAmatahu AAalaykum laAAallakum tuslimoon
It is Allah who made for you the shade from what He has created, and made for you retreats in the mountains, and made for you garments that protect you from heat, and garments that protect you from your [mutual] violence. That is how He completes His blessing upon you so that you may submit [to Him].Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh has made for you, from that which He has created, shadows [i.e., shade] and has made for you from the mountains, shelters and has made for you garments which protect you from the heat and garments [i.e., coats of mail] which protect you from your [enemy in] battle. Thus does He complete His favor upon you that you might submit [to Him].Saheeh International
-
16:82
فَإِ
ن ت َوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنّ َمَا عَلَيْكَٱ لْبَلَٰ غُٱ لْمُبِي نُ ٨٢Fa-in tawallaw fa-innama AAalaykaalbalaghu almubeen
But if they turn their backs [on you], your duty is only to communicate in clear terms.Ali Quli Qarai
But if they turn away, [O Muḥammad] - then only upon you is [responsibility for] clear notification.Saheeh International
-
16:83
يَعْرِفُونَ نِعْمَتَ
ٱ للَّهِ ثُمّ َ يُنك ِرُونَهَا وَأَكْثَرُهُمُٱ لْكَٰ فِرُو نَ ٨٣YaAArifoona niAAmata Allahi thummayunkiroonaha waaktharuhumu alkafiroon
They recognize the blessing of Allah and then deny it, and most of them are faithless.Ali Quli Qarai
They recognize the favor of Allāh; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers.Saheeh International
-
16:84
وَيَوْمَ نَ
بْ عَثُ مِن ك ُلِّ أُمّ َةٍ ۢش َهِيدً ۭا ث ُمّ َ لَا يُؤْذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُو نَ ٨٤Wayawma nabAAathu min kulli ommatinshaheedan thumma la yu/thanu lillatheenakafaroo wala hum yustaAAtaboon
The day We shall raise a witness from every nation, the faithless will not be permitted [to speak], nor will they be asked to propitiate [Allah].Ali Quli Qarai
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect from every nation a witness [i.e., their prophet]. Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease [Allāh].Saheeh International
-
16:85
وَإِذَا رَءَا
ٱ لَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱ لْعَذَابَ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظ َرُو نَ ٨٥Wa-itha raa allatheena thalamooalAAathaba fala yukhaffafu AAanhum wala humyuntharoon
And when the wrongdoers sight the punishment, it shall not be lightened for them, nor will they be granted any respite.Ali Quli Qarai
And when those who wronged see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.Saheeh International
-
16:86
وَإِذَا رَءَا
ٱ لَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ شُرَكَا ٓءَهُمْ قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓ ؤُلَا ٓءِ شُرَكَا ٓؤُنَاٱ لَّذِينَ كُنّ َا نَدْ عُوا۟ مِن د ُونِكَ ۖ فَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْهِمُٱ لْقَوْلَ إِنّ َكُمْ لَكَٰ ذِبُو نَ ٨٦Wa-itha raa allatheenaashrakoo shurakaahum qaloo rabbana haola-ishurakaona allatheena kunna nadAAoomin doonika faalqaw ilayhimu alqawla innakum lakathiboon
When the polytheists sight their partners, they will say, ‘Our Lord! These are our partners whom we used to invoke besides You.’ But they will retort to them, ‘You are indeed liars!’Ali Quli Qarai
And when those who associated others with Allāh see their "partners," they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners [to You] whom we used to invoke [in worship] besides You." But they will throw at them the statement, "Indeed, you are liars."Saheeh International
-
16:87
وَأَلْقَوْ
ا۟ إِلَىٱ للَّهِ يَوْمَئِذٍٱ ل سَّلَمَ ۖ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم م َّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُو نَ ٨٧Waalqaw ila Allahi yawma-ithinassalama wadalla AAanhum ma kanooyaftaroon
They will submit to Allah on that day, and what they used to fabricate will forsake them.Ali Quli Qarai
And they will impart to Allāh that Day [their] submission, and lost from them is what they used to invent.Saheeh International
-
16:88
ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُو
ا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن س َبِيلِٱ للَّهِ زِدْ نَٰ هُمْ عَذَابً ۭا ف َوْقَٱ لْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يُفْسِدُو نَ ٨٨Allatheena kafaroo wasaddooAAan sabeeli Allahi zidnahum AAathaban fawqaalAAathabi bima kanoo yufsidoon
Those who are faithless and bar from the way of Allah—We shall add punishment to their punishment because of the corruption they used to cause.Ali Quli Qarai
Those who disbelieved and averted [others] from the way of Allāh - We will increase them in punishment over [their] punishment for what corruption they were causing.Saheeh International
-
16:89
وَيَوْمَ نَ
بْ عَثُ فِى كُلِّ أُمّ َةٍ ۢش َهِيدًا عَلَيْهِم م ِّنْ أَنف ُسِهِمْ ۖ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ شَهِيدًا عَلَىٰ هَٰٓ ؤُلَا ٓءِ ۚ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَٱ لْكِتَٰ بَ تِبْ يَٰ نً ۭا ل ِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۢو َهُدً ۭى و َرَحْمَةً ۭو َبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِي نَ ٨٩Wayawma nabAAathu fee kulli ommatinshaheedan AAalayhim min anfusihim waji/na bika shaheedanAAala haola-i wanazzalna AAalaykaalkitaba tibyanan likulli shay-in wahudan warahmatanwabushra lilmuslimeen
The day We raise in every nation a witness against them from among themselves, We shall bring you as a witness against these. We have sent down the Book to you as a clarification of all things and as guidance, mercy and good news for the Muslims.Ali Quli Qarai
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves [i.e., their prophet]. And We will bring you, [O Muḥammad], as a witness over these [i.e., your nation]. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.Saheeh International

16:90
۞ إِ
نّ َٱ للَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِٱ لْعَدْ لِ وَٱ لْإِحْسَٰ نِ وَإِيتَآئِ ذِىٱ لْقُرْبَىٰ وَيَنْهَىٰ عَنِٱ لْفَحْشَا ٓءِ وَٱ لْمُنك َرِ وَٱ لْبَغْىِ ۚ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُو نَ ٩٠Inna Allaha ya/muru bilAAadliwal-ihsani wa-eeta-i theealqurba wayanha AAani alfahsha-i walmunkariwalbaghyi yaAAithukum laAAallakum tathakkaroon
Indeed Allah enjoins justice and kindness, and generosity towards relatives, and He forbids indecency, wrongdoing, and aggression. He advises you, so that you may take admonition.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, Allāh orders justice and good conduct and giving [help] to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.Saheeh International
-
16:91
وَأَوْفُو
ا۟ بِعَهْدِٱ للَّهِ إِذَا عَٰ هَد تُّمْ وَلَا تَنق ُضُوا۟ ٱ لْأَيْمَٰ نَ بَعْدَ تَوْكِيدِهَا وَقَدْ جَعَلْتُمُٱ للَّهَ عَلَيْكُمْ كَفِيلًا ۚ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُو نَ ٩١Waawfoo biAAahdi Allahi ithaAAahadtum wala tanqudoo al-aymanabaAAda tawkeediha waqad jaAAaltumu Allaha AAalaykumkafeelan inna Allaha yaAAlamu ma tafAAaloon
Fulfill Allah’s covenant when you pledge, and do not break [your] oaths, after pledging them solemnly and having made Allah a witness over yourselves. Indeed Allah knows what you do.Ali Quli Qarai
And fulfill the covenant of Allāh when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allāh, over you, a security [i.e., witness]. Indeed, Allāh knows what you do.Saheeh International
-
16:92
وَلَا تَكُونُو
ا۟ كَٱ لَّتِى نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنۢ ب َعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنك َٰ ثً ۭا ت َتَّخِذُونَ أَيْمَٰ نَكُمْ دَخَلًۢ اب َيْنَكُمْ أَن ت َكُونَ أُمّ َةٌ هِىَ أَرْبَىٰ مِنْ أُمّ َةٍ ۚ إِنّ َمَا يَبْ لُوكُمُٱ للَّهُ بِهِۦ ۚ وَلَيُبَيِّنَنّ َ لَكُمْ يَوْمَٱ لْقِيَٰ مَةِ مَا كُنت ُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُو نَ ٩٢Wala takoonoo kallatee naqadatghazlaha min baAAdi quwwatin ankathan tattakhithoonaaymanakum dakhalan baynakum an takoona ommatun hiya arbamin ommatin innama yablookumu Allahu bihiwalayubayyinanna lakum yawma alqiyamati ma kuntumfeehi takhtalifoon
Do not be like her who would undo her yarn, breaking it up after [spinning it to] strength, by making your oaths a means of [mutual] deceit among yourselves, so that one community may become more affluent than another community. Indeed Allah tests you thereby, and He will surely clarify for you on the Day of Resurrection what you used to differ about.Ali Quli Qarai
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community. Allāh only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ.Saheeh International

16:93
وَلَوْ ش
َا ٓءَٱ للَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمّ َةً ۭو َٰ حِدَةً ۭو َلَٰ كِن ي ُضِلُّ مَن ي َشَا ٓءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن ي َشَا ٓءُ ۚ وَلَتُسَْٔلُنّ َ عَمّ َا كُنت ُمْ تَعْمَلُو نَ ٩٣Walaw shaa Allahu lajaAAalakumommatan wahidatan walakin yudillu man yashaowayahdee man yashao walatus-alunna AAamma kuntumtaAAmaloon
Had Allah wished, He would have made you one community, but He leads astray whomever He wishes and guides whomever He wishes, and you will surely be questioned concerning what you used to do.Ali Quli Qarai
And if Allāh had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.Saheeh International

16:94
وَلَا تَتَّخِذ
ُوٓ ا۟ أَيْمَٰ نَكُمْ دَخَلًۢ اب َيْنَكُمْ فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمٌۢ ب َعْدَ ثُبُوتِهَا وَتَذُوقُوا۟ ٱ ل سُّو ٓءَ بِمَا صَدَد تُّمْ عَن س َبِيلِٱ للَّهِ ۖ وَلَكُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِي مٌۭ ٩٤Wala tattakhithoo aymanakumdakhalan baynakum fatazilla qadamun baAAda thubootiha watathooqooassoo-a bima sadadtum AAan sabeeli Allahiwalakum AAathabun AAatheem
Do not make your oaths a means of [mutual] deceit among yourselves, lest feet should stumble after being steady and [lest] you suffer ill for barring from the way of Allah and face a great punishment.Ali Quli Qarai
And do not take your oaths as [means of] deceit between you, lest a foot slip after it was [once] firm, and you would taste evil [in this world] for what [people] you diverted from the way of Allāh, and you would have [in the Hereafter] a great punishment.Saheeh International
-
16:95
وَلَا تَشْتَرُو
ا۟ بِعَهْدِٱ للَّهِ ثَمَنً ۭا ق َلِيلًا ۚ إِنّ َمَا عِند َٱ للَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرٌ ۭل َّكُمْ إِن ك ُنت ُمْ تَعْلَمُو نَ ٩٥Wala tashtaroo biAAahdi Allahithamanan qaleelan innama AAinda Allahi huwa khayrunlakum in kuntum taAAlamoon
Do not sell Allah’s covenants for a paltry gain. Indeed, what is with Allah is better for you, should you know.Ali Quli Qarai
And do not exchange the covenant of Allāh for a small price. Indeed, what is with Allāh is best for you, if only you could know.Saheeh International

16:96
مَا عِ
ند َكُمْ يَنف َدُ ۖ وَمَا عِند َٱ للَّهِ بَاقٍ ۢۗ و َلَنَجْ زِيَنّ َٱ لَّذِينَ صَبَرُوٓ ا۟ أَجْ رَهُم ب ِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُو نَ ٩٦Ma AAindakum yanfadu wamaAAinda Allahi baqin walanajziyanna allatheenasabaroo ajrahum bi-ahsani ma kanooyaAAmaloon
That which is with you will be spent [and gone], but what is with Allah shall last, and We will surely pay the patient their reward by the best of what they used to do.Ali Quli Qarai
Whatever you have will end, but what Allāh has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.Saheeh International

16:97
مَنْ عَمِلَ صَ
ٰ لِحً ۭا م ِّن ذ َكَرٍ أَوْ أُنث َىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ۭف َلَنُحْيِيَنّ َهُۥ حَيَو ٰ ةً ۭط َيِّبَةً ۭۖ و َلَنَجْ زِيَنّ َهُمْ أَجْ رَهُم ب ِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُو نَ ٩٧Man AAamila salihan min thakarinaw ontha wahuwa mu/minun falanuhyiyannahu hayatantayyibatan walanajziyannahum ajrahum bi-ahsani makanoo yaAAmaloon
Whoever acts righteously, [whether] male or female, should he be faithful, We shall revive him with a good life and pay them their reward by the best of what they used to do.Ali Quli Qarai
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.Saheeh International
-
16:98
فَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ
ٱ لْقُرْءَانَ فَٱ سْتَعِذْ بِٱ للَّهِ مِنَٱ ل شَّيْطَٰ نِٱ ل رَّجِي مِ ٩٨Fa-itha qara/ta alqur-ana fastaAAithbillahi mina ashshaytani arrajeem
When you recite the Quran, seek the protection of Allah against the outcast Satan.Ali Quli Qarai
So when you recite the Qur’ān, [first] seek refuge in Allāh from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy].Saheeh International
-
16:99
إِ
نّ َهُۥ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ سُلْطَٰ نٌ عَلَىٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُو نَ ٩٩Innahu laysa lahu sultanun AAalaallatheena amanoo waAAala rabbihimyatawakkaloon
Indeed he does not have any authority over those who have faith and put their trust in their Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord.Saheeh International
-
16:100
إِ
نّ َمَا سُلْطَٰ نُهُۥ عَلَىٱ لَّذِينَ يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُۥ وَٱ لَّذِينَ هُم ب ِهِۦ مُشْرِكُو نَ ١٠٠Innama sultanuhu AAalaallatheena yatawallawnahu wallatheena humbihi mushrikoon
His authority is only over those who befriend him and those who make him a partner [of Allah].Ali Quli Qarai
His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allāh.Saheeh International
-
16:101
وَإِذَا بَدَّلْن
َآ ءَايَةً ۭم َّكَانَ ءَايَةٍ ۢۙ و َٱ للَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُنَزِّلُ قَالُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َمَآ أَنت َ مُفْتَرٍۭ ۚ ب َلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُو نَ ١٠١Wa-itha baddalna ayatanmakana ayatin wallahu aAAlamu bimayunazzilu qaloo innama anta muftarin bal aktharuhumla yaAAlamoon
When We change a sign for another in its stead—and Allah knows best what He sends down—they say, ‘You are indeed a fabricator.’ Indeed, most of them do not know.Ali Quli Qarai
And when We substitute a verse in place of a verse - and Allāh is most knowing of what He sends down - they say, "You, [O Muḥammad], are but an inventor [of lies]." But most of them do not know.Saheeh International

16:102
قُلْ نَزَّلَهُ
ۥ رُوحُٱ لْقُدُسِ مِن ر َّبِّكَ بِٱ لْحَقِّ لِيُثَبِّتَٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهُدً ۭى و َبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِي نَ ١٠٢Qul nazzalahu roohu alqudusi minrabbika bilhaqqi liyuthabbita allatheena amanoowahudan wabushra lilmuslimeen
Say, the Holy Spirit has brought it down duly from your Lord to fortify those who have faith and as guidance and good news for the Muslims.Ali Quli Qarai
Say, [O Muḥammad], "The Pure Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down from your Lord in truth to make firm those who believe and as guidance and good tidings to the Muslims."Saheeh International

16:103
وَلَقَ
دْ نَعْلَمُ أَنّ َهُمْ يَقُولُونَ إِنّ َمَا يُعَلِّمُهُۥ بَشَرٌ ۭۗ ل ِّسَانُٱ لَّذِى يُلْحِدُونَ إِلَيْهِ أَعْجَمِىٌّ ۭو َهَٰ ذَا لِسَانٌ عَرَبِىٌّ ۭم ُّبِي نٌ ١٠٣Walaqad naAAlamu annahum yaqooloona innamayuAAallimuhu basharun lisanu allathee yulhidoonailayhi aAAjamiyyun wahatha lisanun AAarabiyyunmubeen
We certainly know that they say, ‘It is only a human that instructs him.’ The language of him to whom they refer is non-Arabic, while this is a clear Arabic language.Ali Quli Qarai
And We certainly know that they say, "It is only a human being who teaches him [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)]." The tongue of the one they refer to is foreign, and this [recitation, i.e., Qur’ān] is [in] a clear Arabic language.Saheeh International
-
16:104
إِ
نّ َٱ لَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بَِٔايَٰ تِٱ للَّهِ لَا يَهْدِيهِمُٱ للَّهُ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِي مٌ ١٠٤Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabi-ayati Allahi la yahdeehimu Allahuwalahum AAathabun aleem
Indeed those who do not believe in the signs of Allah—Allah shall not guide them and there is a painful punishment for them.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, those who do not believe in the verses of Allāh - Allāh will not guide them, and for them is a painful punishment.Saheeh International
-
16:105
إِ
نّ َمَا يَفْتَرِىٱ لْكَذِبَٱ لَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بَِٔايَٰ تِٱ للَّهِ ۖ وَأُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ هُمُٱ لْكَٰ ذِبُو نَ ١٠٥Innama yaftaree alkathibaallatheena la yu/minoona bi-ayati Allahiwaola-ika humu alkathiboon
Only those fabricate lies who do not believe in the signs of Allah, and it is they who are the liars.Ali Quli Qarai
They only invent falsehood who do not believe in the verses of Allāh, and it is those who are the liars.Saheeh International
-
16:106
مَ
ن ك َفَرَ بِٱ للَّهِ مِنۢ ب َعْدِ إِيمَٰ نِهِۦٓ إِلَّا مَنْ أُكْرِهَ وَقَلْبُهُۥ مُطْ مَئِنٌّۢ ب ِٱ لْإِيمَٰ نِ وَلَٰ كِن م َّن ش َرَحَ بِٱ لْكُفْرِ صَدْ رً ۭا ف َعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ ۭم ِّنَٱ للَّهِ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِي مٌۭ ١٠٦Man kafara billahi minbaAAdi eemanihi illa man okriha waqalbuhu mutma-innunbil-eemani walakin man sharaha bilkufrisadran faAAalayhim ghadabun mina Allahiwalahum AAathabun AAatheem
Excepting someone who is compelled [to recant his faith] while his heart is at rest in it, those who disbelieve in Allah after [affirming] their faith and open up their breasts to unfaith, Allah’s wrath shall be upon them and there is a great punishment for them.Ali Quli Qarai
Whoever disbelieves in [i.e., denies] Allāh after his belief... except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith. But those who [willingly] open their breasts to disbelief, upon them is wrath from Allāh, and for them is a great punishment;Saheeh International
-
16:107
ذَ
ٰ لِكَ بِأَنّ َهُمُٱ سْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱ لْحَيَو ٰ ةَٱ ل دُّنْيَا عَلَىٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ وَأَنّ َٱ للَّهَ لَا يَهْدِىٱ لْقَوْمَٱ لْكَٰ فِرِي نَ ١٠٧Thalika bi-annahumu istahabbooalhayata addunya AAala al-akhiratiwaanna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alkafireen
That, because they preferred the life of the world to the Hereafter and that Allah does not guide the faithless lot.Ali Quli Qarai
That is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter and that Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people.Saheeh International
-
16:108
أُ
و۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَٱ لَّذِينَ طَبَعَٱ للَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْ صَٰ رِهِمْ ۖ وَأُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ هُمُٱ لْغَٰ فِلُو نَ ١٠٨Ola-ika allatheena tabaAAaAllahu AAala quloobihim wasamAAihim waabsarihimwaola-ika humu alghafiloon
They are the ones Allah has set a seal on their hearts, their hearing and their sight, and it is they who are the heedless.Ali Quli Qarai
Those are the ones over whose hearts and hearing and vision Allāh has sealed, and it is those who are the heedless.Saheeh International
-
16:109
لَا جَرَمَ أَ
نّ َهُمْ فِىٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ هُمُٱ لْخَٰ سِرُو نَ ١٠٩La jarama annahum fee al-akhiratihumu alkhasiroon
Undoubtedly, they are the ones who will be the losers in the Hereafter.Ali Quli Qarai
Assuredly, it is they, in the Hereafter, who will be the losers.Saheeh International
-
16:110
ثُ
مّ َ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ مِنۢ ب َعْدِ مَا فُتِنُوا۟ ثُمّ َ جَٰ هَدُوا۟ وَصَبَرُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ ب َعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌۭ ١١٠Thumma inna rabbaka lillatheena hajaroomin baAAdi ma futinoo thumma jahadoo wasabarooinna rabbaka min baAAdiha laghafoorun raheem
Thereafter your Lord will indeed be forgiving and merciful to those who migrated after they were persecuted, waged jihad and remained steadfast.Ali Quli Qarai
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who emigrated after they had been compelled [to say words of disbelief] and thereafter fought [for the cause of Allāh] and were patient - indeed, your Lord, after that, is Forgiving and MercifulSaheeh International
-
16:111
۞ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى كُلُّ نَفْ
سٍ ۢت ُجَٰ دِلُ عَن ن َّفْسِهَا وَتُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ۢم َّا عَمِلَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُو نَ ١١١Yawma ta/tee kullu nafsin tujadiluAAan nafsiha watuwaffa kullu nafsin maAAamilat wahum la yuthlamoon
The day [will come] when every soul will come pleading for itself and every soul will be recompensed fully for what it has done, and they will not be wronged.Ali Quli Qarai
On the Day when every soul will come disputing [i.e., pleading] for itself, and every soul will be fully compensated for what it did, and they will not be wronged [i.e., treated unjustly].Saheeh International
-
16:112
وَضَرَبَ
ٱ للَّهُ مَثَلً ۭاق َرْيَةً ۭك َانَتْ ءَامِنَةً ۭم ُّطْ مَئِنّ َةً ۭي َأْتِيهَا رِزْقُهَا رَغَدً ۭا م ِّن ك ُلِّ مَكَانٍ ۢف َكَفَرَتْ بِأَنْعُمِٱ للَّهِ فَأَذَٰ قَهَاٱ للَّهُ لِبَاسَٱ لْجُوعِ وَٱ لْخَوْفِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُو نَ ١١٢Wadaraba Allahu mathalanqaryatan kanat aminatan mutma-innatanya/teeha rizquha raghadan min kulli makaninfakafarat bi-anAAumi Allahi faathaqaha Allahulibasa aljooAAi walkhawfi bima kanooyasnaAAoon
Allah draws a parable: There was a town secure and peaceful, its provision coming abundantly from every place. But it was ungrateful toward Allah’s blessings. So Allah made it taste hunger and fear because of what they used to do.Ali Quli Qarai
And Allāh presents an example: a city [i.e., Makkah] which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allāh. So Allāh made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing.Saheeh International
-
16:113
وَلَقَ
دْ جَا ٓءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ ۭم ِّنْهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمُٱ لْعَذَابُ وَهُمْ ظَٰ لِمُو نَ ١١٣Walaqad jaahum rasoolun minhum fakaththaboohufaakhathahumu alAAathabu wahum thalimoon
Certainly there had come to them an apostle from among themselves, but they impugned him. So the punishment seized them while they were doing wrong.Ali Quli Qarai
And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers.Saheeh International
-
16:114
فَكُلُو
ا۟ مِمّ َا رَزَقَكُمُٱ للَّهُ حَلَٰ لً ۭاط َيِّبً ۭا و َٱ شْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَٱ للَّهِ إِن ك ُنت ُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُو نَ ١١٤Fakuloo mimma razaqakumu Allahuhalalan tayyiban washkuroo niAAmataAllahi in kuntum iyyahu taAAbudoon
So eat out of what Allah has provided you as lawful and good, and give thanks for Allah’s blessing, if it is Him that you worship.Ali Quli Qarai
Then eat of what Allāh has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allāh, if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.Saheeh International
-
16:115
إِ
نّ َمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُٱ لْمَيْتَةَ وَٱ ل دَّمَ وَلَحْمَٱ لْخِنز ِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِٱ للَّهِ بِهِۦ ۖ فَمَنِٱ ضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ ۢو َلَا عَادٍ ۢف َإِنّ َٱ للَّهَ غَفُورٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌۭ ١١٥Innama harrama AAalaykumualmaytata waddama walahma alkhinzeeri wamaohilla lighayri Allahi bihi famani idturra ghayra baghinwala AAadin fa-inna Allaha ghafoorun raheem
He has forbidden you only carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been offered to other than Allah. But if someone is compelled [to eat any of that], without being rebellious or aggressive, indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.Ali Quli Qarai
He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allāh. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.Saheeh International
-
16:116
وَلَا تَقُولُو
ا۟ لِمَا تَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُكُمُٱ لْكَذِبَ هَٰ ذَا حَلَٰ لٌ ۭو َهَٰ ذَا حَرَامٌ ۭل ِّتَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَىٱ للَّهِٱ لْكَذِبَ ۚ إِنّ َٱ لَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَىٱ للَّهِٱ لْكَذِبَ لَا يُفْلِحُو نَ ١١٦Wala taqooloo lima tasifualsinatukumu alkathiba hatha halalunwahatha haramun litaftaroo AAala Allahialkathiba inna allatheena yaftaroona AAalaAllahi alkathiba la yuflihoon
Do not say, asserting falsely with your tongues, ‘This is lawful, and that is unlawful,’ attributing lies to Allah. Indeed those who attribute lies to Allah will not be felicitous.Ali Quli Qarai
And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, "This is lawful and this is unlawful," to invent falsehood about Allāh. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allāh will not succeed.Saheeh International
-
16:117
مَتَ
ٰ عٌ ۭق َلِيلٌ ۭو َلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِي مٌۭ ١١٧MataAAun qaleelun walahum AAathabunaleem
[Their share of the present life is] a trifling enjoyment, and there will be a painful punishment for them.Ali Quli Qarai
[It is but] a brief enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment.Saheeh International
-
16:118
وَعَلَى
ٱ لَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا مَا قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ مِن ق َبْ لُ ۖ وَمَا ظَلَمْنَٰ هُمْ وَلَٰ كِن ك َانُوٓ ا۟ أَنف ُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُو نَ ١١٨WaAAala allatheena hadooharramna ma qasasnaAAalayka min qablu wama thalamnahumwalakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoon
We forbade to the Jews what We have recounted to you earlier, and We did not wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.Ali Quli Qarai
And to those who are Jews We have prohibited that which We related to you before. And We did not wrong them [thereby], but they were wronging themselves.Saheeh International

16:119
ثُ
مّ َ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا۟ ٱ ل سُّو ٓءَ بِجَهَٰ لَةٍ ۢث ُمّ َ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ ب َعْدِ ذَٰ لِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ ب َعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌ ١١٩Thumma inna rabbaka lillatheenaAAamiloo assoo-a bijahalatin thumma taboomin baAAdi thalika waaslahoo inna rabbakamin baAAdiha laghafoorun raheem
Moreover, your Lord will indeed be forgiving and merciful to those who repent after they having committed evil out of ignorance and reform themselves.Ali Quli Qarai
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and correct themselves - indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful.Saheeh International

16:120
إِ
نّ َ إِبْ رَٰ هِيمَ كَانَ أُمّ َةً ۭق َانِتً ۭا ل ِّلَّهِ حَنِيفً ۭا و َلَمْ يَكُ مِنَٱ لْمُشْرِكِي نَ ١٢٠Inna ibraheema kana ommatan qanitanlillahi haneefan walam yaku mina almushrikeen
Indeed Abraham was a nation [all by himself], obedient to Allah, a Hanif, and he was not a polytheist.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, Abraham was a [comprehensive] leader, devoutly obedient to Allāh, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allāh.Saheeh International

16:121
شَاكِ
رً ۭا ل ِّأَنْعُمِهِ ۚٱ جْ تَبَىٰ هُ وَهَدَىٰ هُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰ طٍ ۢم ُّسْتَقِي مٍۢ ١٢١Shakiran li-anAAumihi ijtabahuwahadahu ila siratin mustaqeem
Grateful [as he was] for His blessings, He chose him and guided him to a straight path.Ali Quli Qarai
[He was] grateful for His favors. He [i.e., Allāh] chose him and guided him to a straight path.Saheeh International

16:122
وَءَاتَيْنَ
ٰ هُ فِىٱ ل دُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ۭۖ و َإِنّ َهُۥ فِىٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ لَمِنَٱ ل صَّٰ لِحِي نَ ١٢٢Waataynahu fee addunyahasanatan wa-innahu fee al-akhirati lamina assaliheen
We gave him good in this world, and in the Hereafter he will indeed be among the Righteous.Ali Quli Qarai
And We gave him good in this world, and indeed, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.Saheeh International

16:123
ثُ
مّ َ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ أَنِٱ تَّبِعْ مِلَّةَ إِبْ رَٰ هِيمَ حَنِيفً ۭا ۖ و َمَا كَانَ مِنَٱ لْمُشْرِكِي نَ ١٢٣Thumma awhayna ilayka aniittabiAA millata ibraheema haneefan wama kanamina almushrikeen
Thereafter We revealed to you [saying], ‘Follow the creed of Abraham, a Hanif, who was not a polytheist.’Ali Quli Qarai
Then We revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], to follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he was not of those who associate with Allāh.Saheeh International

16:124
إِ
نّ َمَا جُعِلَٱ ل سَّبْ تُ عَلَىٱ لَّذِينَٱ خْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ ۚ وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكَ لَيَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَٱ لْقِيَٰ مَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُو نَ ١٢٤Innama juAAila assabtu AAalaallatheena ikhtalafoo feehi wa-inna rabbaka layahkumubaynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehiyakhtalifoon
The Sabbath was only prescribed for those who differed about it. Your Lord will indeed judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they differ.Ali Quli Qarai
The sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it. And indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.Saheeh International

16:125
ٱ
دْ عُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱ لْحِكْمَةِ وَٱ لْمَوْعِظَةِٱ لْحَسَنَةِ ۖ وَجَٰ دِلْهُم ب ِٱ لَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ض َلَّ عَن س َبِيلِهِۦ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱ لْمُهْتَدِي نَ ١٢٥OdAAu ila sabeeli rabbika bilhikmatiwalmawAAithati alhasanati wajadilhumbillatee hiya ahsanu inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamubiman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bilmuhtadeen
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good advice and dispute with them in a manner that is best. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are guided.Ali Quli Qarai
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.Saheeh International

16:126
وَإِنْ عَاقَ
بْ تُمْ فَعَاقِبُوا۟ بِمِثْلِ مَا عُوقِبْ تُم ب ِهِۦ ۖ وَلَئِن ص َبَرْتُمْ لَهُوَ خَيْرٌ ۭل ِّلصَّٰ بِرِي نَ ١٢٦Wa-in AAaqabtum faAAaqiboobimithli ma AAooqibtum bihi wala-in sabartum lahuwakhayrun lissabireen
Should you retaliate, retaliate with the like of what you have been made to suffer, but if you are patient that is surely better for the steadfast.Ali Quli Qarai
And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient.Saheeh International

16:127
وَ
ٱ صْبِرْ وَمَا صَبْ رُكَ إِلَّا بِٱ للَّهِ ۚ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُ فِى ضَيْقٍ ۢم ِّمّ َا يَمْكُرُو نَ ١٢٧Wasbir wama sabrukailla billahi wala tahzanAAalayhim wala taku fee dayqin mimmayamkuroon
So be steadfast, and you cannot be steadfast except with Allah [’s help]. And do not grieve for them, nor be upset by their guile.Ali Quli Qarai
And be patient, [O Muḥammad], and your patience is not but through Allāh. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire.Saheeh International

16:128
إِ
نّ َٱ للَّهَ مَعَٱ لَّذِينَٱ تَّقَوا۟ وَّٱ لَّذِينَ هُم م ُّحْسِنُو نَ ١٢٨Inna Allaha maAAa allatheenaittaqaw wallatheena hum muhsinoon
Indeed Allah is with those who are Godwary and those who are virtuous.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, Allāh is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.Saheeh International
