بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
19:1
كٓهيعٓصٓ ١
Kaf-ha-ya-AAayn-sad
QaraiKaf, Ha, Ya, ‘Ayn, Suad.
Saheeh InternationalKāf, Hā, Yā, ʿAyn, Ṣād.
-
19:2
ذِكْرُ رَحْمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهُۥ زَكَرِيَّآ ٢
Thikru rahmati rabbika AAabdahuzakariyya
Qarai[This is] an account of your Lord’s mercy on His servant, Zechariah,
Saheeh International[This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah
-
19:3
إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ نِدَآءً خَفِيًّا ٣
Ith nada rabbahu nidaankhafiyya
Qaraiwhen he called out to his Lord with a secret cry.
Saheeh InternationalWhen he called to his Lord a private call [i.e., supplication].
-
19:4
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى وَهَنَ ٱلْعَظْمُ مِنِّى وَٱشْتَعَلَ ٱلرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا وَلَمْ أَكُنۢ بِدُعَآئِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا ٤
Qala rabbi innee wahana alAAathmuminnee washtaAAala arra/su shayban walam akunbiduAAa-ika rabbi shaqiyya
QaraiHe said, ‘My Lord! Indeed my bones have become feeble, and my head has turned white with age, yet never have I, my Lord, been disappointed in supplicating You!
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy [i.e., disappointed].

19:5
وَإِنِّى خِفْتُ ٱلْمَوَٰلِىَ مِن وَرَآءِى وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا فَهَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّا ٥
Wa-innee khiftu almawaliya min wara-eewakanati imraatee AAaqiran fahab lee min ladunkawaliyya
QaraiIndeed I fear my kinsmen, after me, and my wife is barren. So grant me from Yourself an heir
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir
-
19:6
يَرِثُنِى وَيَرِثُ مِنْ ءَالِ يَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَٱجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّا ٦
Yarithunee wayarithu min ali yaAAqoobawajAAalhu rabbi radiyya
Qaraiwho may inherit from me and inherit from the House of Jacob, and make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]!’
Saheeh InternationalWho will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]."

19:7
يَٰزَكَرِيَّآ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ ٱسْمُهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا ٧
Ya zakariyya innanubashshiruka bighulamin ismuhu yahya lamnajAAal lahu min qablu samiyya
Qarai‘O Zechariah! Indeed We give you the good news of a son, whose name is ‘‘John.’’ Never before have We made anyone his namesake.’
Saheeh International[He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name."

19:8
قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَٰمٌ وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ ٱلْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا ٨
Qala rabbi anna yakoonu leeghulamun wakanati imraatee AAaqiran waqadbalaghtu mina alkibari AAitiyya
QaraiHe said, ‘My Lord! How shall I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I am already advanced in age?’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?"
-
19:9
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَئًْا ٩
Qala kathalika qalarabbuka huwa AAalayya hayyinun waqad khalaqtuka min qablu walamtaku shay-a
QaraiHe said, ‘So shall it be. Your Lord has said, ‘‘It is simple for Me.’’ Certainly I created you before when you were nothing.’
Saheeh International[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.'"
-
19:10
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةً ۚ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا ١٠
Qala rabbi ijAAal lee ayatan qalaayatuka alla tukallima annasa thalathalayalin sawiyya
QaraiHe said, ‘My Lord! Appoint a sign for me.’ He said, ‘Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three complete nights.’
Saheeh International[Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound."

19:11
فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلْمِحْرَابِ فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِمْ أَن سَبِّحُوا۟ بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّا ١١
Fakharaja AAala qawmihi mina almihrabifaawha ilayhim an sabbihoo bukratan waAAashiyya
QaraiSo he emerged before his people from the Temple, and signalled to them that they should glorify [Allah] morning and evening.
Saheeh InternationalSo he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allāh] in the morning and afternoon.
-
19:12
يَٰيَحْيَىٰ خُذِ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِقُوَّةٍ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ ٱلْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا ١٢
Ya yahya khuthialkitaba biquwwatin waataynahu alhukmasabiyya
Qarai‘O John!’ [We said,] ‘Hold on with power to the Book!’ And We gave him judgement while still a child,
Saheeh International[Allāh said], "O John, take the Scripture [i.e., adhere to it] with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy
-
19:13
وَحَنَانًا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَزَكَوٰةً ۖ وَكَانَ تَقِيًّا ١٣
Wahananan min ladunnawazakatan wakana taqiyya
Qaraiand a compassion and purity from Us. He was Godwary
Saheeh InternationalAnd affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allāh
-
19:14
وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِيًّا ١٤
Wabarran biwalidayhi walam yakun jabbaranAAasiyya
Qaraiand good to his parents, and was not self-willed or disobedient.
Saheeh InternationalAnd dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant.
-
19:15
وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ وُلِدَ وَيَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ يُبْعَثُ حَيًّا ١٥
Wasalamun AAalayhi yawma wulidawayawma yamootu wayawma yubAAathu hayya
QaraiPeace be to him, the day he was born, and the day he dies, and the day he is raised alive!
Saheeh InternationalAnd peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive.

19:16
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مَرْيَمَ إِذِ ٱنتَبَذَتْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا مَكَانًا شَرْقِيًّا ١٦
Wathkur fee alkitabimaryama ithi intabathat min ahliha makanansharqiyya
QaraiAnd mention in the Book Mary, when she withdrew from her family to an easterly place.
Saheeh InternationalAnd mention, [O Muḥammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.
-
19:17
فَٱتَّخَذَتْ مِن دُونِهِمْ حِجَابًا فَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرًا سَوِيًّا ١٧
Fattakhathat min doonihim hijabanfaarsalna ilayha roohanafatamaththala laha basharan sawiyya
QaraiThus did she seclude herself from them, whereupon We sent to her Our Spirit and he became incarnate for her as a well-proportioned human.
Saheeh InternationalAnd she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel [i.e., Gabriel], and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.
-
19:18
قَالَتْ إِنِّىٓ أَعُوذُ بِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِيًّا ١٨
Qalat innee aAAoothu birrahmaniminka in kunta taqiyya
QaraiShe said, ‘I seek the protection of the All-beneficent from you, should you be Godwary!’
Saheeh InternationalShe said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allāh."
-
19:19
قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ لِأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَٰمًا زَكِيًّا ١٩
Qala innama ana rasoolurabbiki li-ahaba laki ghulaman zakiyya
QaraiHe said, ‘I am only a messenger of your Lord that I may give you a pure son.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy [i.e., son]."
-
19:20
قَالَتْ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَٰمٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِى بَشَرٌ وَلَمْ أَكُ بَغِيًّا ٢٠
Qalat anna yakoonu lee ghulamunwalam yamsasnee basharun walam aku baghiyya
QaraiShe said, ‘How shall I have a child seeing that no human being has ever touched me, nor have I been unchaste?’
Saheeh InternationalShe said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?"
-
19:21
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ ۖ وَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓ ءَايَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَةً مِّنَّا ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرًا مَّقْضِيًّا ٢١
Qala kathaliki qalarabbuki huwa AAalayya hayyinun walinajAAalahu ayatan linnasiwarahmatan minna wakana amran maqdiyya
QaraiHe said, ‘So shall it be. Your Lord says, ‘‘It is simple for Me.’’ And so that We may make him a sign for mankind and a mercy from Us, and it is a matter [already] decided.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.'"
-
19:22
۞ فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَٱنتَبَذَتْ بِهِۦ مَكَانًا قَصِيًّا ٢٢
Fahamalat-hu fantabathatbihi makanan qasiyya
QaraiThus she conceived him, then withdrew with him to a distant place.
Saheeh InternationalSo she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.
-
19:23
فَأَجَآءَهَا ٱلْمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَٰلَيْتَنِى مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَٰذَا وَكُنتُ نَسْيًا مَّنسِيًّا ٢٣
Faajaaha almakhadu ilajithAAi annakhlati qalat ya laytaneemittu qabla hatha wakuntu nasyan mansiyya
QaraiThe birth pangs brought her to the trunk of a date palm. She said, ‘I wish I had died before this and become a forgotten thing, beyond recall.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."

19:24
فَنَادَىٰهَا مِن تَحْتِهَآ أَلَّا تَحْزَنِى قَدْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَرِيًّا ٢٤
Fanadaha min tahtihaalla tahzanee qad jaAAala rabbuki tahtakisariyya
QaraiThereupon he called her from below her [saying,] ‘Do not grieve! Your Lord has made a spring to flow at your feet.
Saheeh InternationalBut he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.
-
19:25
وَهُزِّىٓ إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ تُسَٰقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّا ٢٥
Wahuzzee ilayki bijithAAi annakhlatitusaqit AAalayki rutaban janiyya
QaraiShake the trunk of the palm tree, freshly picked dates will drop upon you.
Saheeh InternationalAnd shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.
-
19:26
فَكُلِى وَٱشْرَبِى وَقَرِّى عَيْنًا ۖ فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ ٱلْبَشَرِ أَحَدًا فَقُولِىٓ إِنِّى نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ صَوْمًا فَلَنْ أُكَلِّمَ ٱلْيَوْمَ إِنسِيًّا ٢٦
Fakulee washrabee waqarree AAaynanfa-imma tarayinna mina albashari ahadan faqooleeinnee nathartu lirrahmani sawmanfalan okallima alyawma insiyya
QaraiEat, drink, and be comforted. Then if you see any human, say, ‘‘Indeed I have vowed a fast to the All-beneficent, so I will not speak to any human today.’’ ’
Saheeh InternationalSo eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.'"
-
19:27
فَأَتَتْ بِهِۦ قَوْمَهَا تَحْمِلُهُۥ ۖ قَالُوا۟ يَٰمَرْيَمُ لَقَدْ جِئْتِ شَئًْا فَرِيًّا ٢٧
Faatat bihi qawmaha tahmiluhuqaloo ya maryamu laqad ji/ti shay-an fariyya
QaraiThen carrying him she brought him to her people. They said, ‘O Mary, you have certainly come up with an odd thing!
Saheeh InternationalThen she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.
-
19:28
يَٰٓأُخْتَ هَٰرُونَ مَا كَانَ أَبُوكِ ٱمْرَأَ سَوْءٍ وَمَا كَانَتْ أُمُّكِ بَغِيًّا ٢٨
Ya okhta haroona ma kanaabooki imraa saw-in wama kanat ommuki baghiyya
QaraiO sister of Aaron[’s lineage]! Your father was not an evil man, nor was your mother unchaste.’
Saheeh InternationalO sister [i.e., descendant] of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."
-
19:29
فَأَشَارَتْ إِلَيْهِ ۖ قَالُوا۟ كَيْفَ نُكَلِّمُ مَن كَانَ فِى ٱلْمَهْدِ صَبِيًّا ٢٩
Faasharat ilayhi qaloo kayfanukallimu man kana fee almahdi sabiyya
QaraiThereat she pointed to him. They said, ‘How can we speak to one who is yet a baby in the cradle?’
Saheeh InternationalSo she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?"
-
19:30
قَالَ إِنِّى عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ ءَاتَىٰنِىَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَجَعَلَنِى نَبِيًّا ٣٠
Qala innee AAabdu Allahi ataniyaalkitaba wajaAAalanee nabiyya
QaraiHe said, ‘Indeed I am a servant of Allah! He has given me the Book and made me a prophet.
Saheeh International[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allāh. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.
-
19:31
وَجَعَلَنِى مُبَارَكًا أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُ وَأَوْصَٰنِى بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ مَا دُمْتُ حَيًّا ٣١
WajaAAalanee mubarakan aynamakuntu waawsanee bissalati wazzakatima dumtu hayya
QaraiHe has made me blessed, wherever I may be, and He has enjoined me to [maintain] the prayer and to [pay] the zakat as long as I live,
Saheeh InternationalAnd He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakāh as long as I remain alive
-
19:32
وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَتِى وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِى جَبَّارًا شَقِيًّا ٣٢
Wabarran biwalidatee walam yajAAalneejabbaran shaqiyya
Qaraiand to be good to my mother, and He has not made me self-willed and wretched.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.
-
19:33
وَٱلسَّلَٰمُ عَلَىَّ يَوْمَ وُلِدتُّ وَيَوْمَ أَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ أُبْعَثُ حَيًّا ٣٣
Wassalamu AAalayya yawmawulidtu wayawma amootu wayawma obAAathu hayya
QaraiPeace to me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I am raised alive.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."
-
19:34
ذَٰلِكَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۚ قَوْلَ ٱلْحَقِّ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ ٣٤
Thalika AAeesa ibnu maryamaqawla alhaqqi allathee feehi yamtaroon
QaraiThat is Jesus, son of Mary, a Word of the Real concerning whom they are in doubt.
Saheeh InternationalThat is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute.
-
19:35
مَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ مِن وَلَدٍ ۖ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥٓ ۚ إِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ ٣٥
Ma kana lillahi anyattakhitha min waladin subhanahu itha qadaamran fa-innama yaqoolu lahu kun fayakoon
QaraiIt is not for Allah to take a son. Immaculate is He! When He decides on a matter, He just says to it, ‘Be!’ and it is.
Saheeh InternationalIt is not [befitting] for Allāh to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.
-
19:36
وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ ٣٦
Wa-inna Allaha rabbee warabbukum faAAbudoohuhatha siratun mustaqeem
Qarai[And Jesus said,] ‘Indeed Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a straight path.’
Saheeh International[Jesus said], "And indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path."
-
19:37
فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن مَّشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ٣٧
Fakhtalafa al-ahzabumin baynihim fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo min mashhadiyawmin AAatheem
QaraiBut the factions differed among themselves. So woe to the faithless at the scene of a tremendous day.
Saheeh InternationalThen the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day.
-
19:38
أَسْمِعْ بِهِمْ وَأَبْصِرْ يَوْمَ يَأْتُونَنَا ۖ لَٰكِنِ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ ٱلْيَوْمَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٣٨
AsmiAA bihim waabsir yawma ya/toonanalakini aththalimoona alyawmafee dalalin mubeen
QaraiHow well they will hear and how well they will see on the day when they come to Us! But today the wrongdoers are in manifest error.
Saheeh InternationalHow [clearly] they will hear and see the Day they come to Us, but the wrongdoers today are in clear error.
-
19:39
وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْحَسْرَةِ إِذْ قُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَهُمْ فِى غَفْلَةٍ وَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٣٩
Waanthirhum yawma alhasrati ithqudiya al-amru wahum fee ghaflatin wahum layu/minoon
QaraiWarn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be decided, while they are [yet] heedless and do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalAnd warn them, [O Muḥammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe.
-
19:40
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَرِثُ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَنْ عَلَيْهَا وَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَ ٤٠
Inna nahnu narithu al-ardawaman AAalayha wa-ilayna yurjaAAoon
QaraiIndeed We shall inherit the earth and whoever there is on it, and to Us they shall be brought back.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, it is We who will inherit the earth and whoever is on it, and to Us they will be returned.
-
19:41
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا ٤١
Wathkur fee alkitabiibraheema innahu kana siddeeqan nabiyya
QaraiAnd mention in the Book Abraham. Indeed, he was a truthful man and a prophet.
Saheeh InternationalAnd mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.
-
19:42
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ يَٰٓأَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ وَلَا يُبْصِرُ وَلَا يُغْنِى عَنكَ شَئًْا ٤٢
Ith qala li-abeehi yaabati lima taAAbudu ma la yasmaAAu wala yubsiruwala yughnee AAanka shay-a
QaraiWhen he said to his father, ‘Father! Why do you worship that which neither hears nor sees, and is of no avail to you in any way?
Saheeh International[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all?
-
19:43
يَٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّى قَدْ جَآءَنِى مِنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِكَ فَٱتَّبِعْنِىٓ أَهْدِكَ صِرَٰطًا سَوِيًّا ٤٣
Ya abati innee qad jaanee minaalAAilmi ma lam ya/tika fattabiAAnee ahdika siratansawiyya
QaraiFather! Indeed a knowledge has already come to me, which has not come to you. So follow me that I may guide you to a right path.
Saheeh InternationalO my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path.
-
19:44
يَٰٓأَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ عَصِيًّا ٤٤
Ya abati la taAAbudi ashshaytanainna ashshaytana kana lirrahmaniAAasiyya
QaraiFather! Do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan is disobedient to the All-beneficent.
Saheeh InternationalO my father, do not worship [i.e., obey] Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient.

19:45
يَٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَٰنِ وَلِيًّا ٤٥
Ya abati innee akhafu anyamassaka AAathabun mina arrahmanifatakoona lishshyatani waliyya
QaraiFather! I am indeed afraid that a punishment from the All-beneficent will befall you, and you will become Satan’s accomplice.’
Saheeh InternationalO my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]."

19:46
قَالَ أَرَاغِبٌ أَنتَ عَنْ ءَالِهَتِى يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ۖ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ ۖ وَٱهْجُرْنِى مَلِيًّا ٤٦
Qala araghibun anta AAan alihateeya ibraheemu la-in lam tantahi laarjumannaka wahjurneemaliyya
QaraiHe said, ‘Abraham! Are you renouncing my gods? If you do not desist, I will stone you. Get away from me for a long while.’
Saheeh International[His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time."

19:47
قَالَ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكَ ۖ سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّىٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِى حَفِيًّا ٤٧
Qala salamun AAalaykasaastaghfiru laka rabbee innahu kana bee hafiyya
QaraiHe said, ‘Peace be to you! I shall plead with my Lord to forgive you. Indeed, He is gracious to me.
Saheeh International[Abraham] said, "Peace [i.e., safety] will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me.
-
19:48
وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى عَسَىٰٓ أَلَّآ أَكُونَ بِدُعَآءِ رَبِّى شَقِيًّا ٤٨
WaaAAtazilukum wama tadAAoona mindooni Allahi waadAAoo rabbee AAasa allaakoona biduAAa-i rabbee shaqiyya
QaraiI dissociate myself from you and whatever you invoke besides Allah. I will supplicate my Lord. Hopefully, I will not be disappointed in supplicating my Lord.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allāh and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy [i.e., disappointed]."

19:49
فَلَمَّا ٱعْتَزَلَهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَكُلًّا جَعَلْنَا نَبِيًّا ٤٩
Falamma iAAtazalahum wamayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi wahabna lahu ishaqawayaAAqooba wakullan jaAAalna nabiyya
QaraiSo when he had left them and what they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each We made a prophet.
Saheeh InternationalSo when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allāh, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet.

19:50
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِنَا وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ عَلِيًّا ٥٠
Wawahabna lahum min rahmatinawajaAAalna lahum lisana sidqin AAaliyya
QaraiAnd We gave them out of Our mercy, and conferred on them a worthy and lofty repute.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We gave them of Our mercy, and We made for them a mention [i.e., reputation] of high honor.

19:51
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مُخْلَصًا وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّا ٥١
Wathkur fee alkitabimoosa innahu kana mukhlasan wakanarasoolan nabiyya
QaraiAnd mention in the Book Moses. Indeed he was exclusively dedicated [to Allah], and an apostle and prophet.
Saheeh InternationalAnd mention in the Book, Moses. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

19:52
وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلْأَيْمَنِ وَقَرَّبْنَٰهُ نَجِيًّا ٥٢
Wanadaynahu min janibiattoori al-aymani waqarrabnahu najiyya
QaraiWe called him from the right side of the Mount and We drew him near [to Ourselves] for confidential discourse.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We called him from the side of the mount at [his] right and brought him near, confiding [to him].
-
19:53
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ مِن رَّحْمَتِنَآ أَخَاهُ هَٰرُونَ نَبِيًّا ٥٣
Wawahabna lahu min rahmatinaakhahu haroona nabiyya
QaraiAnd We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Aaron, a prophet.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Aaron as a prophet.
-
19:54
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ إِسْمَٰعِيلَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ ٱلْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّا ٥٤
Wathkur fee alkitabiismaAAeela innahu kana sadiqa alwaAAdi wakanarasoolan nabiyya
QaraiAnd mention in the Book Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and an apostle and prophet.
Saheeh InternationalAnd mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

19:55
وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُۥ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرْضِيًّا ٥٥
Wakana ya/muru ahlahu bissalatiwazzakati wakana AAinda rabbihi mardiyya
QaraiHe used to bid his family to [maintain] the prayer and to [pay] the zakat, and was pleasing to his Lord.
Saheeh InternationalAnd he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakāh and was to his Lord pleasing [i.e., accepted by Him].
-
19:56
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ إِدْرِيسَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا ٥٦
Wathkur fee alkitabiidreesa innahu kana siddeeqan nabiyya
QaraiAnd mention in the Book Idrees. Indeed, he was a truthful one and a prophet,
Saheeh InternationalAnd mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

19:57
وَرَفَعْنَٰهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا ٥٧
WarafaAAnahu makanan AAaliyya
Qaraiand We raised him to an exalted station.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We raised him to a high station.
-
19:58
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۧنَ مِن ذُرِّيَّةِ ءَادَمَ وَمِمَّنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّةِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَمِمَّنْ هَدَيْنَا وَٱجْتَبَيْنَآ ۚ إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ خَرُّوا۟ سُجَّدًا وَبُكِيًّا ۩ ٥٨
Ola-ika allatheena anAAama AllahuAAalayhim mina annabiyyeena min thurriyyati adamawamimman hamalna maAAa noohin wamin thurriyyatiibraheema wa-isra-eela wamimman hadayna wajtabaynaitha tutla AAalayhim ayatu arrahmanikharroo sujjadan wabukiyya
QaraiThey are the ones whom Allah has blessed from among the prophets of Adam’s progeny, and from [the progeny of] those We carried with Noah, and from among the progeny of Abraham and Israel, and from among those that We guided and chose. When the signs of the All-beneficent were recited to them, they would fall down weeping in prostration.
Saheeh InternationalThose were the ones upon whom Allāh bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel [i.e., Jacob], and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping.

19:59
۞ فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا ٥٩
Fakhalafa min baAAdihim khalfun adaAAooassalata wattabaAAoo ashshahawatifasawfa yalqawna ghayya
QaraiBut they were succeeded by an evil posterity who neglected the prayer, and followed [their base] appetites. So they will soon encounter [the reward of] perversity,
Saheeh InternationalBut there came after them successors [i.e., later generations] who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil -
-
19:60
إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًا فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ شَئًْا ٦٠
Illa man taba waamanawaAAamila salihan faola-ika yadkhuloonaaljannata wala yuthlamoona shay-a
Qaraibarring those who repent, believe, and act righteously. Such will enter paradise, and they will not be wronged in the least.
Saheeh InternationalExcept those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all.

19:61
جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍ ٱلَّتِى وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ عِبَادَهُۥ بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَأْتِيًّا ٦١
Jannati AAadnin allatee waAAada arrahmanuAAibadahu bighaybi innahu kana waAAduhuma/tiyya
QaraiGardens of Eden promised by the All-beneficent to His servants, [while they were still] unseen. Indeed His promise is bound to come to pass.
Saheeh International[Therein are] gardens of perpetual residence which the Most Merciful has promised His servants in the unseen. Indeed, His promise has ever been eminent.

19:62
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا إِلَّا سَلَٰمًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ رِزْقُهُمْ فِيهَا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّا ٦٢
La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwanilla salaman walahum rizquhum feeha bukratanwaAAashiyya
QaraiTherein they will not hear vain talk, but only ‘Peace!’ Therein they will have their provision morning and evening.
Saheeh InternationalThey will not hear therein any ill speech - only [greetings of] peace - and they will have their provision therein, morning and afternoon.

19:63
تِلْكَ ٱلْجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِى نُورِثُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا مَن كَانَ تَقِيًّا ٦٣
Tilka aljannatu allatee noorithu min AAibadinaman kana taqiyya
QaraiThis is the paradise We will give as inheritance to those of Our servants who are Godwary.
Saheeh InternationalThat is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allāh.
-
19:64
وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَ ۖ لَهُۥ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيًّا ٦٤
Wama natanazzalu illa bi-amrirabbika lahu ma bayna aydeena wama khalfanawama bayna thalika wama kana rabbukanasiyya
Qarai[O Gabriel, tell the Prophet,] ‘We do not descend except by the command of your Lord. To Him belongs whatever is before us and whatever is behind us and whatever is in between that, and your Lord does not forget
Saheeh International[Gabriel said], "And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs that before us and that behind us and what is in between. And never is your Lord forgetful -
-
19:65
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَٱعْبُدْهُ وَٱصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَٰدَتِهِۦ ۚ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِيًّا ٦٥
Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma faAAbudhu wastabirliAAibadatihi hal taAAlamu lahu samiyya
Qarai—the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. So worship Him and be steadfast in His worship. Do you know anyone who could be His namesake?’
Saheeh InternationalLord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?"

19:66
وَيَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَءِذَا مَا مِتُّ لَسَوْفَ أُخْرَجُ حَيًّا ٦٦
Wayaqoolu al-insanu a-itha mamittu lasawfa okhraju hayya
QaraiMan says, ‘What? Shall I be brought forth alive [from the grave], when I have been dead?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd man [i.e., the disbeliever] says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive?"
-
19:67
أَوَلَا يَذْكُرُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ يَكُ شَئًْا ٦٧
Awa la yathkuru al-insanuanna khalaqnahu min qablu walam yaku shay-a
QaraiDoes not man remember that We created him before when he was nothing?
Saheeh InternationalDoes man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?
-
19:68
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْ وَٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ ثُمَّ لَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْ حَوْلَ جَهَنَّمَ جِثِيًّا ٦٨
Fawarabbika lanahshurannahum washshayateenathumma lanuhdirannahum hawla jahannama jithiyya
QaraiBy your Lord, We will surely gather them with the devils; then We will surely bring them up around hell [scrambling] on their knees.
Saheeh InternationalSo by your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils; then We will bring them to be present around Hell upon their knees.

19:69
ثُمَّ لَنَنزِعَنَّ مِن كُلِّ شِيعَةٍ أَيُّهُمْ أَشَدُّ عَلَى ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ عِتِيًّا ٦٩
Thumma lananziAAanna min kulli sheeAAatinayyuhum ashaddu AAala arrahmaniAAitiyya
QaraiThen from every group We shall draw whichever of them was more defiant towards the All-beneficent.
Saheeh InternationalThen We will surely extract from every sect those of them who were worst against the Most Merciful in insolence.

19:70
ثُمَّ لَنَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِهَا صِلِيًّا ٧٠
Thumma lanahnu aAAlamu billatheenahum awla biha siliyya
QaraiThen surely We will know best those who deserve most to enter it.
Saheeh InternationalThen, surely it is We who are most knowing of those most worthy of burning therein.
-
19:71
وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِيًّا ٧١
Wa-in minkum illa wariduhakana AAala rabbika hatman maqdiyya
QaraiThere is none of you but will come to it: a [matter that is a] decided certainty with your Lord.
Saheeh InternationalAnd there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed.
-
19:72
ثُمَّ نُنَجِّى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّنَذَرُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ فِيهَا جِثِيًّا ٧٢
Thumma nunajjee allatheena ittaqawwanatharu aththalimeena feehajithiyya
QaraiThen We will deliver those who are Godwary, and leave the wrongdoers in it, fallen on their knees.
Saheeh InternationalThen We will save those who feared Allāh and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.
-
19:73
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٍ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَىُّ ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ خَيْرٌ مَّقَامًا وَأَحْسَنُ نَدِيًّا ٧٣
Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunabayyinatin qala allatheena kafaroo lillatheenaamanoo ayyu alfareeqayni khayrun maqaman waahsanunadiyya
QaraiWhen Our manifest signs are recited to them, the faithless say to the faithful, ‘Which of the two groups is superior in station and better with respect to company?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of [our] two parties is best in position and best in association?"

19:74
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَحْسَنُ أَثَٰثًا وَرِءْيًا ٧٤
Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin humahsanu athathan wari/ya
QaraiHow many a generation We have destroyed before them, who were superior in furnishings and appearance!
Saheeh InternationalAnd how many a generation have We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and [outward] appearance?
-
19:75
قُلْ مَن كَانَ فِى ٱلضَّلَٰلَةِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ مَدًّا ۚ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ إِمَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ وَإِمَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضْعَفُ جُندًا ٧٥
Qul man kana fee addalalatifalyamdud lahu arrahmanu maddan hattaitha raaw ma yooAAadoona imma alAAathabawa-imma assaAAata fasayaAAlamoona man huwasharrun makanan waadAAafu junda
QaraiSay, ‘Whoever abides in error, the All-beneficent shall prolong his respite until they sight what they have been promised: either punishment, or the Hour.’ Then they will know whose position is worse, and whose host is weaker.
Saheeh InternationalSay, "Whoever is in error - let the Most Merciful extend for him an extension [in wealth and time] until, when they see that which they were promised - either punishment [in this world] or the Hour [of resurrection] - they will come to know who is worst in position and weaker in soldiers."

19:76
وَيَزِيدُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱهْتَدَوْا۟ هُدًى ۗ وَٱلْبَٰقِيَٰتُ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ مَّرَدًّا ٧٦
Wayazeedu Allahu allatheenaihtadaw hudan walbaqiyatu assalihatukhayrun AAinda rabbika thawaban wakhayrun maradda
QaraiAllah enhances in guidance those who are [rightly] guided, and lasting righteous deeds are better with your Lord in reward, and better at the return [to Allah].
Saheeh InternationalAnd Allāh increases those who were guided, in guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for recourse.
-
19:77
أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَرَ بَِٔايَٰتِنَا وَقَالَ لَأُوتَيَنَّ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا ٧٧
Afaraayta allathee kafara bi-ayatinawaqala laootayanna malan wawalada
QaraiHave you not regarded him who defies Our signs, and says, ‘I will surely be given wealth and children’?
Saheeh InternationalThen, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children [in the next life]"?
-
19:78
أَطَّلَعَ ٱلْغَيْبَ أَمِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ عَهْدًا ٧٨
AttalaAAa alghayba ami ittakhathaAAinda arrahmani AAahda
QaraiHas he come to know the Unseen, or taken a promise from the All-beneficent?
Saheeh InternationalHas he looked into the unseen, or has he taken from the Most Merciful a promise?
-
19:79
كَلَّا ۚ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ مَدًّا ٧٩
Kalla sanaktubu ma yaqooluwanamuddu lahu mina alAAathabi madda
QaraiNo indeed! We will write down what he says, and We will prolong his punishment endlessly.
Saheeh InternationalNo! We will record what he says and extend [i.e., increase] for him from the punishment extensively.
-
19:80
وَنَرِثُهُۥ مَا يَقُولُ وَيَأْتِينَا فَرْدًا ٨٠
Wanarithuhu ma yaqoolu waya/teenafarda
QaraiWe shall take over from him what he talks about, and he will come to Us alone.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We will inherit him [in] what he mentions, and he will come to Us alone.
-
19:81
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً لِّيَكُونُوا۟ لَهُمْ عِزًّا ٨١
Wattakhathoo min dooni Allahialihatan liyakoonoo lahum AAizza
QaraiThey have taken gods besides Allah that they may be a [source of] might to them.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they have taken besides Allāh [false] deities that they would be for them [a source of] honor.
-
19:82
كَلَّا ۚ سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدًّا ٨٢
Kalla sayakfuroona biAAibadatihimwayakoonoona AAalayhim didda
QaraiNo Indeed! Soon they will disown their worship, and they will be their opponents.
Saheeh InternationalNo! They [i.e., those "gods"] will deny their worship of them and will be against them opponents [on the Day of Judgement].

19:83
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ تَؤُزُّهُمْ أَزًّا ٨٣
Alam tara anna arsalna ashshayateenaAAala alkafireena taozzuhum azza
QaraiHave you not regarded that We unleash the devils upon the faithless to urge them vigorously?
Saheeh InternationalDo you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them [to evil] with [constant] incitement?
-
19:84
فَلَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمْ عَدًّا ٨٤
Fala taAAjal AAalayhim innamanaAAuddu lahum AAadda
QaraiSo do not make haste against them; indeed We are counting for them, a counting [down].
Saheeh InternationalSo be not impatient over them. We only count out [i.e., allow] to them a [limited] number.

19:85
يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ إِلَى ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَفْدًا ٨٥
Yawma nahshuru almuttaqeena ilaarrahmani wafda
QaraiThe day We shall gather the Godwary toward the All-beneficent, on mounts,
Saheeh InternationalOn the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation
-
19:86
وَنَسُوقُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ وِرْدًا ٨٦
Wanasooqu almujrimeena ila jahannamawirda
Qaraiand drive the guilty as a thirsty herd towards hell,
Saheeh InternationalAnd will drive the criminals to Hell in thirst
-
19:87
لَّا يَمْلِكُونَ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ عَهْدًا ٨٧
La yamlikoona ashshafaAAatailla mani ittakhatha AAinda arrahmaniAAahda
Qaraino one will have the power to intercede [with Allah], except for him who has taken a covenant with the All-beneficent.
Saheeh InternationalNone will have [power of] intercession except he who had taken from the Most Merciful a covenant.
-
19:88
وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَلَدًا ٨٨
Waqaloo ittakhatha arrahmanuwalada
QaraiThey say, ‘The All-beneficent has taken a son!’
Saheeh InternationalAnd they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son."

19:89
لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَئًْا إِدًّا ٨٩
Laqad ji/tum shay-an idda
QaraiYou have certainly advanced something hideous!
Saheeh InternationalYou have done an atrocious thing.
-
19:90
تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنشَقُّ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ ٱلْجِبَالُ هَدًّا ٩٠
Takadu assamawatuyatafattarna minhu watanshaqqu al-ardu watakhirrualjibalu hadda
QaraiThe heavens are about to be rent apart at it, the earth to split open, and the mountains to collapse into bits,
Saheeh InternationalThe heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation
-
19:91
أَن دَعَوْا۟ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدًا ٩١
An daAAaw lirrahmaniwalada
Qaraithat they should ascribe a son to the All-beneficent!
Saheeh InternationalThat they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.
-
19:92
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا ٩٢
Wama yanbaghee lirrahmanian yattakhitha walada
QaraiIt does not behoove the All-beneficent to take a son.
Saheeh InternationalAnd it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.

19:93
إِن كُلُّ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّآ ءَاتِى ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ عَبْدًا ٩٣
In kullu man fee assamawatiwal-ardi illa atee arrahmaniAAabda
QaraiThere is none in the heavens and the earth but he comes to the All-beneficent as a servant.
Saheeh InternationalThere is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.
-
19:94
لَّقَدْ أَحْصَىٰهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدًّا ٩٤
Laqad ahsahum waAAaddahum AAadda
QaraiCertainly He has counted them [all] and numbered them precisely,
Saheeh InternationalHe has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting.

19:95
وَكُلُّهُمْ ءَاتِيهِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فَرْدًا ٩٥
Wakulluhum ateehi yawma alqiyamatifarda
Qaraiand each of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection.
Saheeh InternationalAnd all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.

19:96
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وُدًّا ٩٦
Inna allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati sayajAAalu lahumu arrahmanuwudda
QaraiIndeed those who have faith and do righteous deeds—the All-beneficent will endear them [to His creation].
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection.

19:97
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّرَ بِهِ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ وَتُنذِرَ بِهِۦ قَوْمًا لُّدًّا ٩٧
Fa-innama yassarnahu bilisanikalitubashshira bihi almuttaqeena watunthira bihi qawmanludda
QaraiIndeed We have made it simple in your language so that you may give good news thereby to the Godwary and warn with it a disputatious lot.
Saheeh InternationalSo, [O Muḥammad], We have only made it [i.e., the Qur’ān] easy in your tongue [i.e., the Arabic language] that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people.

19:98
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْهُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ أَوْ تَسْمَعُ لَهُمْ رِكْزًۢا ٩٨
Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin haltuhissu minhum min ahadin aw tasmaAAu lahum rikza
QaraiHow many a generation We have destroyed before them! Can you descry any one of them, or hear from them so much as a murmur?
Saheeh InternationalAnd how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound?
