Ta-ha
Ta Ha!Ali Quli Qarai
Ṭā, Hā.Saheeh International
-
20:2
م
َآ أَنز َلْنَا عَلَيْكَٱ لْقُرْءَانَ لِتَشْقَىٰٓ ٢Ma anzalna AAalayka alqur-analitashqa
We did not send down to you the Quran that you should be miserable,Ali Quli Qarai
We have not sent down to you the Qur’ān that you be distressedSaheeh International
-
20:3
إِلَّا تَذْكِرَ
ةً ۭل ِّمَن ي َخْشَىٰ ٣Illa tathkiratan liman yakhsha
but only as an admonition to him who fears [his Lord].Ali Quli Qarai
But only as a reminder for those who fear [Allāh] -Saheeh International
-
20:4
تَ
نز ِيلً ۭام ِّمّ َنْ خَلَقَٱ لْأَرْضَ وَٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِٱ لْعُلَى ٤Tanzeelan mimman khalaqa al-arda wassamawatialAAula
A sending down [of the Revelation] from Him who created the earth and the lofty heavensAli Quli Qarai
A revelation from He who created the earth and highest heavens,Saheeh International
-
20:5
ٱ
ل رَّحْمَٰ نُ عَلَىٱ لْعَرْشِٱ سْتَوَىٰ ٥Arrahmanu AAalaalAAarshi istawa
—the All-beneficent, settled on the Throne.Ali Quli Qarai
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established.Saheeh International
-
20:6
لَهُ
ۥ مَا فِىٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَمَا فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَٱ ل ثَّرَىٰ ٦Lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wama baynahuma wamatahta aththara
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and whatever is between them, and whatever is under the ground.Ali Quli Qarai
To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth and what is between them and what is under the soil.Saheeh International
-
20:7
وَإِ
ن ت َجْ هَرْ بِٱ لْقَوْلِ فَإِنّ َهُۥ يَعْلَمُٱ ل سِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى ٧Wa-in tajhar bilqawli fa-innahuyaAAlamu assirra waakhfa
Whether you speak loudly [or in secret tones,] He indeed knows the secret and what is still more hidden.Ali Quli Qarai
And if you speak aloud - then indeed, He knows the secret and what is [even] more hidden.Saheeh International

20:8
ٱللَّهُ ل
َآ إِلَٰ هَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُٱ لْأَسْمَا ٓءُٱ لْحُسْنَىٰ ٨Allahu la ilaha illahuwa lahu al-asmao alhusna
Allah—there is no god except Him—to Him belong the Best Names.Ali Quli Qarai
Allāh - there is no deity except Him. To Him belong the best names.Saheeh International
-
20:9
وَهَلْ أَتَى
ٰ كَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ ٩Wahal ataka hadeethu moosa
Did the story of Moses come to you,Ali Quli Qarai
And has the story of Moses reached you? -Saheeh International
-
20:10
إِذْ رَءَا نَا
رً ۭا ف َقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِٱ مْكُثُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ ِىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارً ۭا ل َّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم م ِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَىٱ ل نّ َارِ هُدًۭى ١٠Ith raa naran faqalali-ahlihi omkuthoo innee anastu naran laAAallee ateekumminha biqabasin aw ajidu AAala annarihuda
when he sighted a fire, and said to his family, ‘Wait! Indeed, I descry a fire! Maybe I will bring you a brand from it, or find some guidance at the fire.’Ali Quli Qarai
When he saw a fire and said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire; perhaps I can bring you a torch or find at the fire some guidance."Saheeh International

20:11
فَلَ
مّ َآ أَتَىٰ هَا نُودِىَ يَٰ مُوسَىٰٓ ١١Falamma ataha noodiya yamoosa
So when he came to it, he was called, ‘O Moses!Ali Quli Qarai
And when he came to it, he was called, "O Moses,Saheeh International
-
20:12
إِ
نّ ِىٓ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكَ فَٱ خْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنّ َكَ بِٱ لْوَادِٱ لْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًۭى ١٢Innee ana rabbuka fakhlaAAnaAAlayka innaka bilwadi almuqaddasi tuwa
Indeed I am your Lord! So take off your sandals. You are indeed in the sacred valley of Tuwa.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals. Indeed, you are in the blessed valley of Ṭuwā.Saheeh International

20:13
وَأَنَا
ٱ خْتَرْتُكَ فَٱ سْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰٓ ١٣Waana ikhtartuka fastamiAAlima yooha
I have chosen you; so listen to what is revealed.Ali Quli Qarai
And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed [to you].Saheeh International
-
20:14
إِ
نّ َنِىٓ أَنَاٱ للَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰ هَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱ عْبُدْ نِى وَأَقِمِٱ ل صَّلَو ٰ ةَ لِذِكْرِىٓ ١٤Innanee ana Allahu lailaha illa ana faAAbudnee waaqimi assalatalithikree
Indeed I am Allah—there is no god except Me. So worship Me, and maintain the prayer for My remembrance.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, I am Allāh. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.Saheeh International
-
20:15
إِ
نّ َٱ ل سَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْ زَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ ب ِمَا تَسْعَىٰ ١٥Inna assaAAata atiyatunakadu okhfeeha litujza kullu nafsin bimatasAAa
Indeed the Hour is bound to come: I will have it hidden, so that every soul may be rewarded for its endeavour.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.Saheeh International

20:16
فَلَا يَصُدَّ
نّ َكَ عَنْهَا مَن ل َّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَٱ تَّبَعَ هَوَىٰ هُ فَتَرْدَىٰ ١٦Fala yasuddannaka AAanhaman la yu/minu biha wattabaAAa hawahufatarda
So do not let yourself be distracted from it by those who do not believe in it and who follow their desires, or you will perish.’Ali Quli Qarai
So do not let one avert you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish.Saheeh International
-
20:17
وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَ
ٰ مُوسَىٰ ١٧Wama tilka biyameenika ya moosa
‘Moses, what is that in your right hand?’Ali Quli Qarai
And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?"Saheeh International
-
20:18
قَالَ هِىَ عَصَاىَ أَتَوَكَّؤُ
ا۟ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِى وَلِىَ فِيهَا مََٔارِبُ أُخْرَىٰ ١٨Qala hiya AAasaya atawakkaoAAalayha waahushshu biha AAala ghanameewaliya feeha maaribu okhra
He said, ‘It is my staff. I lean on it, and with it I beat down leaves for my sheep; and I have other uses for it.’Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."Saheeh International

20:19
قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَ
ٰ مُوسَىٰ ١٩Qala alqiha ya moosa
He said, ‘Moses, throw it down.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "Throw it down, O Moses."Saheeh International
-
20:20
فَأَلْقَى
ٰ هَا فَإِذَا هِىَ حَيَّةٌ ۭت َسْعَىٰ ٢٠Faalqaha fa-itha hiya hayyatuntasAAa
So he threw it down, and behold, it was a snake, moving swiftly.Ali Quli Qarai
So he threw it down, and thereupon it was a snake, moving swiftly.Saheeh International
-
20:21
قَالَ خُذْهَا وَلَا تَخَفْ ۖ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا
ٱ لْأُولَىٰ ٢١Qala khuthha walatakhaf sanuAAeeduha seerataha al-oola
He said, ‘Take hold of it, and do not fear. We will restore it to its former state.Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition.Saheeh International
-
20:22
وَ
ٱ ضْمُمْ يَدَكَ إِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَا ٓءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُو ٓءٍ ءَايَةً أُخْرَىٰ ٢٢Wadmum yadaka ila janahikatakhruj baydaa min ghayri soo-in ayatan okhra
Now clasp your hand to your armpit: it will emerge white, without any harm—[this is yet] another sign,Ali Quli Qarai
And draw in your hand to your side; it will come out white without disease - another sign,Saheeh International
-
20:23
لِنُرِيَكَ مِنْ ءَايَ
ٰ تِنَاٱ لْكُبْ رَى ٢٣Linuriyaka min ayatinaalkubra
that We may show you some of Our great signs.Ali Quli Qarai
That We may show you [some] of Our greater signs.Saheeh International
-
20:24
ٱذْهَ
بْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنّ َهُۥ طَغَىٰ ٢٤Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu tagha
Go to Pharaoh. He has indeed rebelled.’Ali Quli Qarai
Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed [i.e., tyrannized]."Saheeh International
-
20:25
قَالَ رَبِّ
ٱ شْرَحْ لِى صَدْ رِى ٢٥Qala rabbi ishrah lee sadree
He said, ‘My Lord! Open my breast for me.Ali Quli Qarai
[Moses] said, "My Lord, expand [i.e., relax] for me my breast [with assurance]Saheeh International
-
20:26
وَيَسِّرْ ل
ِىٓ أَمْرِى ٢٦Wayassir lee amree
Make my task easy for me.Ali Quli Qarai
And ease for me my taskSaheeh International
-
20:27
وَ
ٱ حْلُلْ عُقْ دَةً ۭم ِّن ل ِّسَانِى ٢٧Wahlul AAuqdatan min lisanee
Remove the hitch from my tongue,Ali Quli Qarai
And untie the knot from my tongueSaheeh International
-
20:28
يَفْقَهُو
ا۟ قَوْلِى ٢٨Yafqahoo qawlee
[so that] they may understand my speech.Ali Quli Qarai
That they may understand my speech.Saheeh International
-
20:29
وَ
ٱ جْ عَل لِّى وَزِيرً ۭا م ِّنْ أَهْلِى ٢٩WajAAal lee wazeeran min ahlee
Appoint for me a minister from my family,Ali Quli Qarai
And appoint for me a minister [i.e., assistant] from my family -Saheeh International
-
20:30
هَ
ٰ رُونَ أَخِى ٣٠Haroona akhee
Aaron, my brother.Ali Quli Qarai
Aaron, my brother.Saheeh International
-
20:31
ٱشْدُ
دْ بِهِۦٓ أَزْرِى ٣١Oshdud bihi azree
Strengthen my back through him,Ali Quli Qarai
Increase through him my strengthSaheeh International
-
20:32
وَأَشْرِكْهُ ف
ِىٓ أَمْرِى ٣٢Waashrik-hu fee amree
and make him my associate in my task,Ali Quli Qarai
And let him share my taskSaheeh International
-
20:33
كَىْ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيرًۭا ٣٣
Kay nusabbihaka katheera
so that we may glorify You greatly,Ali Quli Qarai
That we may exalt You muchSaheeh International
-
20:34
وَنَذْكُرَكَ كَثِيرًا ٣٤
Wanathkuraka katheera
and remember You greatly.Ali Quli Qarai
And remember You much.Saheeh International
-
20:35
إِ
نّ َكَ كُنت َ بِنَا بَصِيرًۭا ٣٥Innaka kunta bina baseera
Indeed You see us best.’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, You are of us ever Seeing."Saheeh International
-
20:36
قَالَ قَ
دْ أُوتِيتَ سُؤْلَكَ يَٰ مُوسَىٰ ٣٦Qala qad ooteeta su/laka yamoosa
He said, ‘Moses, your request has been granted!Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "You have been granted your request, O Moses.Saheeh International
-
20:37
وَلَقَ
دْ مَنَنّ َا عَلَيْكَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَىٰٓ ٣٧Walaqad mananna AAalayka marratanokhra
Certainly, We have done you a favour another time,Ali Quli Qarai
And We had already conferred favor upon you another time,Saheeh International
-
20:38
إِذْ أَوْحَيْن
َآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمّ ِكَ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ ٣٨Ith awhayna ilaommika ma yooha
when We revealed to your mother whatever was to be revealed:Ali Quli Qarai
When We inspired to your mother what We inspired,Saheeh International
-
20:39
أَنِ
ٱ قْ ذِفِيهِ فِىٱ ل تَّابُوتِ فَٱ قْ ذِفِيهِ فِىٱ لْيَمّ ِ فَلْيُلْقِهِٱ لْيَمّ ُ بِٱ ل سَّاحِلِ يَأْخُذْهُ عَدُوٌّ ۭل ِّى وَعَدُوٌّ ۭل َّهُۥ ۚ وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةً ۭم ِّنّ ِى وَلِتُصْنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيْنِىٓ ٣٩Ani iqthifeehi fee attabootifaqthifeehi fee alyammi falyulqihi alyammu bissahiliya/khuthhu AAaduwwun lee waAAaduwwun lahu waalqaytuAAalayka mahabbatan minnee walitusnaAAa AAalaAAaynee
“Put him in the casket, and cast it into the river. Then the river will cast it on the bank, and he shall be picked up by an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his.” And I made you endearing, and that you might be reared under My [watchful] eyes.Ali Quli Qarai
[Saying], 'Cast him into the chest and cast it into the river, and the river will throw it onto the bank; there will take him an enemy to Me and an enemy to him.' And I bestowed upon you love from Me that you would be brought up under My eye [i.e., observation and care].Saheeh International
-
20:40
إِذْ تَمْش
ِىٓ أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن ي َكْفُلُهُۥ ۖ فَرَجَعْنَٰ كَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمّ ِكَ كَىْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ ۚ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسً ۭا ف َنَجَّيْنَٰ كَ مِنَٱ لْغَمّ ِ وَفَتَنّ َٰ كَ فُتُونً ۭا ۚ ف َلَبِثْتَ سِنِينَ فِىٓ أَهْلِ مَدْ يَنَ ثُمّ َ جِئْتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٍ ۢي َٰ مُوسَىٰ ٤٠Ith tamshee okhtuka fataqoolu haladullukum AAala man yakfuluhu farajaAAnaka ilaommika kay taqarra AAaynuha wala tahzanawaqatalta nafsan fanajjaynaka mina alghammi wafatannakafutoonan falabithta sineena fee ahli madyana thumma ji/ta AAalaqadarin ya moosa
When your sister walked up [to Pharaoh’s palace] saying, “Shall I show you someone who will take care of him?” Then We restored you to your mother, that she might not grieve and be comforted. Then you slew a soul, whereupon We delivered you from anguish, and We tried you with various ordeals. Then you stayed for several years among the people of Midian. Then you turned up as ordained, O Moses!Ali Quli Qarai
[And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses.Saheeh International
-
20:41
وَ
ٱ صْطَنَعْتُكَ لِنَفْسِى ٤١WastanaAAtuka linafsee
And I chose you for Myself.’Ali Quli Qarai
And I produced you for Myself.Saheeh International
-
20:42
ٱذْهَ
بْ أَنت َ وَأَخُوكَ بَِٔايَٰ تِى وَلَا تَنِيَا فِى ذِكْرِى ٤٢Ithhab anta waakhooka bi-ayateewala taniya fee thikree
‘Go ahead, you and your brother, with My signs and do not flag in My remembrance.Ali Quli Qarai
Go, you and your brother, with My signs and do not slacken in My remembrance.Saheeh International
-
20:43
ٱذْهَب
َآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنّ َهُۥ طَغَىٰ ٤٣Ithhaba ila firAAawnainnahu tagha
Both of you go to Pharaoh, for he has indeed rebelled.Ali Quli Qarai
Go, both of you, to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.Saheeh International
-
20:44
فَقُولَا لَهُ
ۥ قَوْلً ۭال َّيِّنً ۭا ل َّعَلَّهُۥ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَىٰ ٤٤Faqoola lahu qawlan layyinanlaAAallahu yatathakkaru aw yakhsha
Speak to him in a soft manner; maybe he will take admonition or fear.’Ali Quli Qarai
And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allāh]."Saheeh International
-
20:45
قَالَا رَبَّن
َآ إِنّ َنَا نَخَافُ أَن ي َفْرُطَ عَلَيْنَآ أَوْ أَن ي َطْ غَىٰ ٤٥Qala rabbana innananakhafu an yafruta AAalayna aw an yatgha
They said, ‘Our Lord! We are indeed afraid that he will forestall us or will exceed all bounds.’Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress."Saheeh International
-
20:46
قَالَ لَا تَخَاف
َآ ۖ إِنّ َنِى مَعَكُمَآ أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ ٤٦Qala la takhafainnanee maAAakuma asmaAAu waara
He said, ‘Do not be afraid, for I will be with the two of you, hearing and seeing [whatever happens].Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.Saheeh International
-
20:47
فَأْتِيَاهُ فَقُول
َآ إِنّ َا رَسُولَا رَبِّكَ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰ ٓءِيلَ وَلَا تُعَذِّبْ هُمْ ۖ قَدْ جِئْنَٰ كَ بَِٔايَةٍ ۢم ِّن ر َّبِّكَ ۖ وَٱ ل سَّلَٰ مُ عَلَىٰ مَنِٱ تَّبَعَٱ لْهُدَىٰٓ ٤٧Fa/tiyahu faqoola innarasoola rabbika faarsil maAAana banee isra-eelawala tuAAaththibhum qad ji/naka bi-ayatinmin rabbika wassalamu AAala mani ittabaAAaalhuda
So approach him and say, ‘‘We are the apostles of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not torture them! We certainly bring you a sign from your Lord, and may peace be upon him who follows guidance!Ali Quli Qarai
So go to him and say, 'Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, so send with us the Children of Israel and do not torment them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord. And peace will be upon he who follows the guidance.Saheeh International
-
20:48
إِ
نّ َا قَدْ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْنَآ أَنّ َٱ لْعَذَابَ عَلَىٰ مَن ك َذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ٤٨Inna qad oohiya ilaynaanna alAAathaba AAala man kaththaba watawalla
Indeed it has been revealed to us that punishment shall befall those who impugn us and turn their backs [on us].’’ ’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away.'"Saheeh International
-
20:49
قَالَ فَم
َن ر َّبُّكُمَا يَٰ مُوسَىٰ ٤٩Qala faman rabbukuma yamoosa
He said, ‘Who is your Lord, Moses?’Ali Quli Qarai
[Pharaoh] said, "So who is the Lord of you two, O Moses?"Saheeh International
-
20:50
قَالَ رَبُّنَا
ٱ لَّذِىٓ أَعْطَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلْقَهُۥ ثُمّ َ هَدَىٰ ٥٠Qala rabbuna allatheeaAAta kulla shay-in khalqahu thumma hada
He said, ‘Our Lord is He who gave everything its creation and then guided it.’Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided [it]."Saheeh International
-
20:51
قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ
ٱ لْقُرُونِٱ لْأُولَىٰ ٥١Qala fama balualqurooni al-oola
He said, ‘What about the former generations?’Ali Quli Qarai
[Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations?"Saheeh International
-
20:52
قَالَ عِلْمُهَا عِ
ند َ رَبِّى فِى كِتَٰ بٍ ۢۖ ل َّا يَضِلُّ رَبِّى وَلَا يَنس َى ٥٢Qala AAilmuha AAinda rabbeefee kitabin la yadillu rabbee walayansa
He said, ‘Their knowledge is with my Lord, in a Book. My Lord neither makes any error nor forgets.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Moses] said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets."Saheeh International

20:53
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ
ٱ لْأَرْضَ مَهْدً ۭا و َسَلَكَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلً ۭاو َأَنز َلَ مِنَٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ مَا ٓءً ۭف َأَخْرَجْ نَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰ جً ۭا م ِّن ن َّبَاتٍ ۢش َتَّىٰ ٥٣Allathee jaAAala lakumu al-ardamahdan wasalaka lakum feeha subulan waanzala mina assama-imaan faakhrajna bihi azwajan min nabatinshatta
He, who made the earth for you a cradle, and in it threaded for you ways, and sent down water from the sky, and with it We brought forth various kinds of vegetation.Ali Quli Qarai
[It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants.Saheeh International

20:54
كُلُو
ا۟ وَٱ رْعَوْا۟ أَنْعَٰ مَكُمْ ۗ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَٰ تٍ ۢل ِّأُو۟ لِىٱ ل نّ ُهَىٰ ٥٤Kuloo warAAaw anAAamakum innafee thalika laayatin li-olee annuha
‘Eat and pasture your cattle.’ There are indeed signs in that for those who have sense.Ali Quli Qarai
Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence.Saheeh International

20:55
۞ مِنْهَا خَلَ
قْ نَٰ كُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ ٥٥Minha khalaqnakum wafeehanuAAeedukum waminha nukhrijukum taratan okhra
From it did We create you, into it shall We return you, and from it shall We bring you forth another time.Ali Quli Qarai
From it [i.e., the earth] We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time.Saheeh International

20:56
وَلَقَ
دْ أَرَيْنَٰ هُ ءَايَٰ تِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ ٥٦Walaqad araynahu ayatinakullaha fakaththaba waaba
Certainly We showed him all Our signs. But he denied [them] and refused [to believe them].Ali Quli Qarai
And We certainly showed him [i.e., Pharaoh] Our signs - all of them - but he denied and refused.Saheeh International
-
20:57
قَالَ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتُخْرِجَنَا مِنْ أَرْضِنَا بِسِحْرِكَ يَ
ٰ مُوسَىٰ ٥٧Qala aji/tana litukhrijanamin ardina bisihrika ya moosa
He said, ‘Moses, have you come to us to expel us from our land with your magic?Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses?Saheeh International
-
20:58
فَلَنَأْتِيَ
نّ َكَ بِسِحْرٍ ۢم ِّثْلِهِۦ فَٱ جْ عَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِدً ۭا ل َّا نُخْلِفُهُۥ نَحْنُ وَلَآ أَنت َ مَكَانً ۭا سُ وًۭى ٥٨Falana/tiyannaka bisihrin mithlihi fajAAalbaynana wabaynaka mawAAidan la nukhlifuhu nahnuwala anta makanan suwa
Yet we [too] will bring you a magic like it! So fix a tryst between us and you, which neither we shall fail nor you, at a middle place.’Ali Quli Qarai
Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned."Saheeh International

20:59
قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ
ٱ ل زِّينَةِ وَأَن ي ُحْشَرَٱ ل نّ َاسُ ضُحًۭى ٥٩Qala mawAAidukum yawmu azzeenatiwaan yuhshara annasu duha
He said, ‘Your tryst shall be the Day of Adornment, and let the people be assembled in early forenoon.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Moses] said, "Your appointment is on the day of the festival when the people assemble at mid-morning."Saheeh International

20:60
فَتَوَلَّىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيْدَهُ
ۥ ثُمّ َ أَتَىٰ ٦٠Fatawalla firAAawnu fajamaAAa kaydahuthumma ata
Then Pharaoh withdrew [to consult privately], summoned up his guile, and then arrived [at the scene of the contest].Ali Quli Qarai
So Pharaoh went away, put together his plan, and then came [to Moses].Saheeh International
-
20:61
قَالَ لَه
ُم م ُّوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَىٱ للَّهِ كَذِبً ۭا ف َيُسْحِتَكُم ب ِعَذَابٍ ۢۖ و َقَدْ خَابَ مَنِٱ فْتَرَىٰ ٦١Qala lahum moosa waylakum lataftaroo AAala Allahi kathiban fayushitakumbiAAathabin waqad khaba mani iftara
Moses said to them, ‘Woe to you! Do not fabricate lies against Allah, or He will obliterate you with a punishment. Whoever fabricates lies certainly fails.’Ali Quli Qarai
Moses said to them [i.e., the magicians summoned by Pharaoh], "Woe to you! Do not invent a lie against Allāh or He will exterminate you with a punishment; and he has failed who invents [such falsehood]."Saheeh International

20:62
فَتَنَ
ٰ زَعُوٓ ا۟ أَمْرَهُم ب َيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱ ل نّ َجْ وَىٰ ٦٢FatanazaAAoo amrahum baynahumwaasarroo annajwa
So they disputed their matter among themselves, and kept their confidential talks secret.Ali Quli Qarai
So they disputed over their affair among themselves and concealed their private conversation.Saheeh International
-
20:63
قَال
ُوٓ ا۟ إِنْ هَٰ ذَٰ نِ لَسَٰ حِرَٰ نِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن ي ُخْرِجَاكُم م ِّنْ أَرْضِكُم ب ِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُٱ لْمُثْلَىٰ ٦٣Qaloo in hathani lasahiraniyureedani an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihimawayathhaba bitareeqatikumu almuthla
They said, ‘These two are indeed magicians who intend to expel you from your land with their magic, and to abolish your excellent tradition!Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "Indeed, these are two magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and do away with your most exemplary way [i.e., religion or tradition].Saheeh International

20:64
فَأَ
جْ مِعُوا۟ كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمّ َٱ ئْتُوا۟ صَفًّ ۭا ۚ و َقَدْ أَفْلَحَٱ لْيَوْمَ مَنِٱ سْتَعْلَىٰ ٦٤FaajmiAAoo kaydakum thumma i/too saffanwaqad aflaha alyawma mani istaAAla
So summon up your ingenuity, then come in ranks. Today he who has the upper hand will be felicitous!’Ali Quli Qarai
So resolve upon your plan and then come [forward] in line. And he has succeeded today who overcomes."Saheeh International

20:65
قَالُو
ا۟ يَٰ مُوسَىٰٓ إِمّ َآ أَن ت ُلْقِىَ وَإِمّ َآ أَن ن َّكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَىٰ ٦٥Qaloo ya moosa immaan tulqiya wa-imma an nakoona awwala man alqa
They said, ‘O Moses! Will you throw first, or shall we?’Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "O Moses, either you throw or we will be the first to throw."Saheeh International
-
20:66
قَالَ بَلْ أَلْقُو
ا۟ ۖ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِن س ِحْرِهِمْ أَنّ َهَا تَسْعَىٰ ٦٦Qala bal alqoo fa-itha hibaluhumwaAAisiyyuhum yukhayyalu ilayhi min sihrihim annahatasAAa
He said, ‘No, you throw first.’ Thereupon, behold, their ropes and staffs appeared to him by their magic to wriggle swiftly.Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "Rather, you throw." And suddenly their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were moving [like snakes].Saheeh International

20:67
فَأَوْجَسَ فِى نَفْسِه
ِۦ خِيفَةً ۭم ُّوسَىٰ ٦٧Faawjasa fee nafsihi kheefatan moosa
Then Moses felt a fear within his heart.Ali Quli Qarai
And he sensed within himself apprehension, did Moses.Saheeh International
-
20:68
قُلْنَا لَا تَخَفْ إِ
نّ َكَ أَنت َٱ لْأَعْلَىٰ ٦٨Qulna la takhaf innaka antaal-aAAla
We said, ‘Do not be afraid. Indeed, you will have the upper hand.Ali Quli Qarai
We [i.e., Allāh] said, "Fear not. Indeed, it is you who are superior.Saheeh International
-
20:69
وَأَلْقِ مَا فِى يَمِينِكَ تَلْقَفْ مَا صَنَع
ُوٓ ا۟ ۖ إِنّ َمَا صَنَعُوا۟ كَيْدُ سَٰ حِرٍ ۢۖ و َلَا يُفْلِحُٱ ل سَّاحِرُ حَيْثُ أَتَىٰ ٦٩Waalqi ma fee yameenika talqaf masanaAAoo innama sanaAAoo kaydu sahirinwala yuflihu assahiru haythuata
Throw down what is in your right hand, and it will swallow what they have conjured. What they have conjured is only a magician’s trick, and the magician does not fare well wherever he may show up.’Ali Quli Qarai
And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is."Saheeh International

20:70
فَأُلْقِىَ
ٱ ل سَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدً ۭا ق َالُوٓ ا۟ ءَامَنّ َا بِرَبِّ هَٰ رُونَ وَمُوسَىٰ ٧٠Faolqiya assaharatu sujjadanqaloo amanna birabbi haroona wamoosa
Thereat the magicians fell down prostrating. They said, ‘We have believed in the Lord of Aaron and Moses!’Ali Quli Qarai
So the magicians fell down in prostration. They said, "We have believed in the Lord of Aaron and Moses."Saheeh International

20:71
قَالَ ءَامَ
نت ُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْ لَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنّ َهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُٱ لَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُٱ ل سِّحْرَ ۖ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنّ َ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم م ِّنْ خِلَٰ فٍ ۢو َلَأُصَلِّبَنّ َكُمْ فِى جُذُوعِٱ ل نّ َخْلِ وَلَتَعْلَمُنّ َ أَيُّنَآ أَشَدُّ عَذَابً ۭا و َأَبْ قَىٰ ٧١Qala amantum lahu qabla an athanalakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu assihrafalaoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafinwalaosallibannakum fee juthooAAi annakhliwalataAAlamunna ayyuna ashaddu AAathaban waabqa
He said, ‘Did you believe in him before I should permit you? He is indeed your chief who has taught you magic! Surely, I will cut off your hands and feet from opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will know which of us can inflict a severer and more lasting punishment.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him [i.e., Moses] before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will surely know which of us is more severe in [giving] punishment and more enduring."Saheeh International

20:72
قَالُو
ا۟ لَن ن ُّؤْثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَا ٓءَنَا مِنَٱ لْبَيِّنَٰ تِ وَٱ لَّذِى فَطَرَنَا ۖ فَٱ قْ ضِ مَآ أَنت َ قَاضٍ ۖ إِنّ َمَا تَقْ ضِى هَٰ ذِهِٱ لْحَيَو ٰ ةَٱ ل دُّنْيَآ ٧٢Qaloo lan nu/thiraka AAala majaana mina albayyinati wallatheefatarana faqdi ma anta qadininnama taqdee hathihi alhayataaddunya
They said, ‘We will never prefer you to the clear proofs which have come to us, and to Him who originated us. Decide whatever you want to decide. You can only decide about the life of this world.Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "Never will we prefer you over what has come to us of clear proofs and [over] He who created us. So decree whatever you are to decree. You can only decree for this worldly life.Saheeh International

20:73
إِ
نّ َآ ءَامَنّ َا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغْفِرَ لَنَا خَطَٰ يَٰ نَا وَمَآ أَكْرَهْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَٱ ل سِّحْرِ ۗ وَٱ للَّهُ خَيْرٌ ۭو َأَبْ قَىٰٓ ٧٣Inna amanna birabbinaliyaghfira lana khatayana wamaakrahtana AAalayhi mina assihri wallahukhayrun waabqa
We have indeed believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our offences and the magic you compelled us to perform. Allah is better and more lasting.’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us [to do] of magic. And Allāh is better and more enduring."Saheeh International

20:74
إِ
نّ َهُۥ مَن ي َأْتِ رَبَّهُۥ مُجْ رِمً ۭا ف َإِنّ َ لَهُۥ جَهَنّ َمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ ٧٤Innahu man ya/ti rabbahu mujriman fa-innalahu jahannama la yamootu feeha wala yahya
Whoever comes to his Lord laden with guilt, for him shall be hell, where he will neither live nor die.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, whoever comes to his Lord as a criminal - indeed, for him is Hell; he will neither die therein nor live.Saheeh International

20:75
وَم
َن ي َأْتِهِۦ مُؤْمِنً ۭا ق َدْ عَمِلَٱ ل صَّٰ لِحَٰ تِ فَأُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ لَهُمُٱ ل دَّرَجَٰ تُٱ لْعُلَىٰ ٧٥Waman ya/tihi mu/minan qad AAamila assalihatifaola-ika lahumu addarajatu alAAula
But whoever comes to Him with faith and he has done righteous deeds, for such shall be the highest ranksAli Quli Qarai
But whoever comes to Him as a believer having done righteous deeds - for those will be the highest degrees [in position]:Saheeh International

20:76
جَ
نّ َٰ تُ عَدْ نٍ ۢت َجْ رِى مِن ت َحْتِهَاٱ لْأَنْهَٰ رُ خَٰ لِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰ لِكَ جَزَا ٓءُ مَن ت َزَكَّىٰ ٧٦Jannatu AAadnin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha wathalikajazao man tazakka
—the Gardens of Eden, with streams running in them, to abide in them [forever], and that is the reward of him who keeps pure.Ali Quli Qarai
Gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of one who purifies himself.Saheeh International

20:77
وَلَقَ
دْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى فَٱ ضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقً ۭا ف ِىٱ لْبَحْرِ يَبَسً ۭا ل َّا تَخَٰ فُ دَرَكً ۭا و َلَا تَخْشَىٰ ٧٧Walaqad awhayna ilamoosa an asri biAAibadee fadriblahum tareeqan fee albahri yabasan la takhafudarakan wala takhsha
We revealed to Moses, [saying], ‘Set out with My servants at night, and strike out for them a dry path through the sea. Do not be afraid of being overtaken, and have no fear [of getting drowned].Ali Quli Qarai
And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]."Saheeh International
-
20:78
فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِه
ِۦ فَغَشِيَهُم م ِّنَٱ لْيَمّ ِ مَا غَشِيَهُمْ ٧٨FaatbaAAahum firAAawnu bijunoodihifaghashiyahum mina alyammi ma ghashiyahum
Then Pharaoh pursued them with his troops, whereat they were engulfed by what engulfed them of the sea.Ali Quli Qarai
So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, and there covered them from the sea that which covered them,Saheeh International
-
20:79
وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُ
ۥ وَمَا هَدَىٰ ٧٩Waadalla firAAawnu qawmahu wamahada
Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide them.Ali Quli Qarai
And Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide [them].Saheeh International
-
20:80
يَ
ٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰ ٓءِيلَ قَدْ أَنج َيْنَٰ كُم م ِّنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ وَوَٰ عَدْ نَٰ كُمْ جَانِبَٱ ل طُّورِٱ لْأَيْمَنَ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُٱ لْمَنّ َ وَٱ ل سَّلْوَىٰ ٨٠Ya banee isra-eela qad anjaynakummin AAaduwwikum wawaAAadnakum janiba attoorial-aymana wanazzalna AAalaykumu almanna wassalwa
O Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We appointed with you a tryst on the right side of the Mount and We sent down to you manna and quails:Ali Quli Qarai
O Children of Israel, We delivered you from your enemy, and We made an appointment with you at the right side of the mount, and We sent down to you manna and quails,Saheeh International
-
20:81
كُلُو
ا۟ مِن ط َيِّبَٰ تِ مَا رَزَقْ نَٰ كُمْ وَلَا تَطْ غَوْا۟ فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِى ۖ وَمَن ي َحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِى فَقَدْ هَوَىٰ ٨١Kuloo min tayyibati marazaqnakum wala tatghaw feehi fayahillaAAalaykum ghadabee waman yahlil AAalayhi ghadabeefaqad hawa
‘Eat of the good things We have provided you, but do not overstep the bounds therein, lest My wrath should descend on you, and he on whom My wrath descends certainly perishes.Ali Quli Qarai
[Saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you and do not transgress [or oppress others] therein, lest My anger should descend upon you. And he upon whom My anger descends has certainly fallen [i.e., perished]."Saheeh International
-
20:82
وَإِ
نّ ِى لَغَفَّارٌ ۭل ِّمَن ت َابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰ لِحً ۭا ث ُمّ َٱ هْتَدَىٰ ٨٢Wa-innee laghaffarun liman tabawaamana waAAamila salihan thumma ihtada
Indeed I forgive those who repent, become faithful, act righteously, and follow guidance.’Ali Quli Qarai
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.Saheeh International

20:83
۞ وَم
َآ أَعْجَلَكَ عَن ق َوْمِكَ يَٰ مُوسَىٰ ٨٣Wama aAAjalaka AAan qawmika yamoosa
[God said,] ‘O Moses, what has prompted you to hasten ahead of your people?’Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh said], "And what made you hasten from your people, O Moses?"Saheeh International
-
20:84
قَالَ هُمْ أُ
و۟ لَا ٓءِ عَلَىٰٓ أَثَرِى وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضَىٰ ٨٤Qala hum ola-i AAalaatharee waAAajiltu ilayka rabbi litarda
He said, ‘They are close upon my heels, and I hurried on to You, my Lord, that You may be pleased.’Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased."Saheeh International
-
20:85
قَالَ فَإِ
نّ َا قَدْ فَتَنّ َا قَوْمَكَ مِنۢ ب َعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُٱ ل سَّامِرِىُّ ٨٥Qala fa-inna qad fatannaqawmaka min baAAdika waadallahumu assamiriy
He said, ‘Indeed We tried your people in your absence, and the Samiri has led them astray.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "But indeed, We have tried your people after you [departed], and the Sāmirī has led them astray."Saheeh International
-
20:86
فَرَجَعَ مُوسَ
ىٰٓ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ غَضْبَٰ نَ أَسِفً ۭا ۚ ق َالَ يَٰ قَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْ كُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا ۚ أَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُٱ لْعَهْدُ أَمْ أَرَد تُّمْ أَن ي َحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٌ ۭم ِّن ر َّبِّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُم م َّوْعِدِى ٨٦FarajaAAa moosa ila qawmihighadbana asifan qala ya qawmi alamyaAAidkum rabbukum waAAdan hasanan afatalaAAalaykumu alAAahdu am aradtum an yahilla AAalaykum ghadabunmin rabbikum faakhlaftum mawAAidee
Thereupon Moses returned to his people, indignant and grieved. He said, ‘O my people! Did your Lord not give you a true promise? Did the period [of my absence] seem too long to you? Or did you desire that your Lord’s wrath should descend on you and so you failed your tryst with me?’Ali Quli Qarai
So Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved. He said, "O my people, did your Lord not make you a good promise? Then, was the time [of its fulfillment] too long for you, or did you wish that wrath from your Lord descend upon you, so you broke your promise [of obedience] to me?"Saheeh International
-
20:87
قَالُو
ا۟ مَآ أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَٰ كِنّ َا حُمّ ِلْنَآ أَوْزَارً ۭا م ِّن ز ِينَةِٱ لْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَٰ هَا فَكَذَٰ لِكَ أَلْقَىٱ ل سَّامِرِىُّ ٨٧Qaloo ma akhlafnamawAAidaka bimalkina walakinna hummilnaawzaran min zeenati alqawmi faqathafnahafakathalika alqa assamiriy
They said, ‘We did not fail our tryst with you of our own accord, but we were laden with the weight of those people’s ornaments, and we cast them [into the fire] and so did the Samiri.’Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "We did not break our promise to you by our will, but we were made to carry burdens from the ornaments of the people [of Pharaoh], so we threw them [into the fire], and thus did the Sāmirī throw."Saheeh International

20:88
فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِ
جْ لً ۭاج َسَدً ۭا ل َّهُۥ خُوَارٌ ۭف َقَالُوا۟ هَٰ ذَآ إِلَٰ هُكُمْ وَإِلَٰ هُ مُوسَىٰ فَنَسِىَ ٨٨Faakhraja lahum AAijlan jasadan lahu khuwarunfaqaloo hatha ilahukum wa-ilahu moosafanasiy
Then he produced for them a calf—a [lifeless] body with a low—and they said, This is your god and the god of Moses, so he forgot!Ali Quli Qarai
And he extracted for them [the statue of] a calf which had a lowing sound, and they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot."Saheeh International
-
20:89
أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْل
ً ۭاو َلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّ ۭا و َلَا نَفْعًۭا ٨٩Afala yarawna alla yarjiAAuilayhim qawlan wala yamliku lahum darran walanafAAa
Did they not see that it did not answer them, nor could it bring them any benefit or harm?Ali Quli Qarai
Did they not see that it could not return to them any speech [i.e., response] and that it did not possess for them any harm or benefit?Saheeh International
-
20:90
وَلَقَ
دْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَٰ رُونُ مِن ق َبْ لُ يَٰ قَوْمِ إِنّ َمَا فُتِنت ُم ب ِهِۦ ۖ وَإِنّ َ رَبَّكُمُٱ ل رَّحْمَٰ نُ فَٱ تَّبِعُونِى وَأَطِيعُوٓ ا۟ أَمْرِى ٩٠Walaqad qala lahum haroonu minqablu ya qawmi innama futintum bihi wa-innarabbakumu arrahmanu fattabiAAooneewaateeAAoo amree
Aaron had certainly told them earlier, ‘O my people! You are only being tested by it. Indeed your Lord is the All-beneficent. So follow me and obey my command!’Ali Quli Qarai
And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order."Saheeh International

20:91
قَالُو
ا۟ لَن ن َّبْ رَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَٰ كِفِينَ حَتَّىٰ يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ ٩١Qaloo lan nabraha AAalayhi AAakifeenahatta yarjiAAa ilayna moosa
They had said, ‘We will keep on clinging to it until Moses returns to us.’Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "We will never cease being devoted to it [i.e., the calf] until Moses returns to us."Saheeh International
-
20:92
قَالَ يَ
ٰ هَٰ رُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوٓا۟ ٩٢Qala ya haroonu mamanaAAaka ith raaytahum dalloo
He said, ‘O Aaron! What kept you, when you saw them going astray,Ali Quli Qarai
[Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray,Saheeh International
-
20:93
أَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِ ۖ أَفَعَصَيْتَ أَمْرِى ٩٣
Alla tattabiAAani afaAAasaytaamree
from following me? Did you disobey my command?’Ali Quli Qarai
From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order?"Saheeh International
-
20:94
قَالَ يَ
بْ نَؤُمّ َ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِى وَلَا بِرَأْسِىٓ ۖ إِنّ ِى خَشِيتُ أَن ت َقُولَ فَرَّقْ تَ بَيْنَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰ ٓءِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِى ٩٤Qala yabnaomma la ta/khuthbilihyatee wala bira/see innee khasheetu an taqoolafarraqta bayna banee isra-eela walam tarqub qawlee
He said, ‘O son of my mother! Do not grab my beard or my head! I feared lest you should say, ‘‘You have caused a rift among the Children of Israel and did not heed my word [of advice].’’’Ali Quli Qarai
[Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.'"Saheeh International
-
20:95
قَالَ فَمَا خَ
طْ بُكَ يَٰ سَٰ مِرِىُّ ٩٥Qala fama khatbuka yasamiriy
He said, ‘What is your business, O Samiri?’Ali Quli Qarai
[Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Sāmirī?"Saheeh International
-
20:96
قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَ
بْ صُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْ ضَةً ۭم ِّنْ أَثَرِٱ ل رَّسُولِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَٰ لِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِى نَفْسِى ٩٦Qala basurtu bima lamyabsuroo bihi faqabadtu qabdatan min athariarrasooli fanabathtuha wakathalikasawwalat lee nafsee
He said, ‘I saw what they did not see. I took a handful [of dust] from the messenger’s trail and threw it. That is how my soul prompted me.’Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me."Saheeh International
-
20:97
قَالَ فَ
ٱ ذْهَبْ فَإِنّ َ لَكَ فِىٱ لْحَيَو ٰ ةِ أَن ت َقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ ۖ وَإِنّ َ لَكَ مَوْعِدً ۭا ل َّن ت ُخْلَفَهُۥ ۖ وَٱ نظ ُرْ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰ هِكَٱ لَّذِى ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفً ۭا ۖ ل َّنُحَرِّقَنّ َهُۥ ثُمّ َ لَنَنس ِفَنّ َهُۥ فِىٱ لْيَمّ ِ نَسْفًا ٩٧Qala fathhab fa-innalaka fee alhayati an taqoola la misasawa-inna laka mawAAidan lan tukhlafahu wanthurila ilahika allathee thaltaAAalayhi AAakifan lanuharriqannahu thummalanansifannahu fee alyammi nasfa
He said, ‘Begone! It shall be your [lot] throughout life to say, ‘‘Do not touch me!’’ Indeed, there is a tryst for you which you will not fail to keep! Now look at your god to whom you went on clinging. We will burn it down and then scatter it[s ashes] into the sea.Ali Quli Qarai
[Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it [i.e., its ashes] into the sea with a blast.Saheeh International

20:98
إِ
نّ َمَآ إِلَٰ هُكُمُٱ للَّهُٱ لَّذِى لَآ إِلَٰ هَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًۭا ٩٨Innama ilahukumu Allahuallathee la ilaha illa huwa wasiAAakulla shay-in AAilma
Indeed your God is Allah. There is no god except Him. He embraces all things in [His] knowledge.’Ali Quli Qarai
Your god is only Allāh, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge."Saheeh International
-
20:99
كَذَ
ٰ لِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنۢب َا ٓءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَ ۚ وَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰ كَ مِن ل َّدُنّ َا ذِكْرًۭا ٩٩Kathalika naqussu AAalayka minanba-i ma qad sabaqa waqad ataynakamin ladunna thikra
Thus do We relate to you some accounts of what is past. Certainly, We have given you a Reminder from Ourselves.Ali Quli Qarai
Thus, [O Muḥammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us a message [i.e., the Qur’ān].Saheeh International
-
20:100
مَّنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِ
نّ َهُۥ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَٱ لْقِيَٰ مَةِ وِزْرًا ١٠٠Man aAArada AAanhu fa-innahu yahmiluyawma alqiyamati wizra
Whoever disregards it shall bear a burden [of punishment] on the Day of Resurrection,Ali Quli Qarai
Whoever turns away from it - then indeed, he will bear on the Day of Resurrection a burden [i.e., great sin],Saheeh International
-
20:101
خَ
ٰ لِدِينَ فِيهِ ۖ وَسَا ٓءَ لَهُمْ يَوْمَٱ لْقِيَٰ مَةِ حِمْلًۭا ١٠١Khalideena feehi wasaa lahumyawma alqiyamati himla
remaining in it [forever]. Evil is their burden on the Day of ResurrectionAli Quli Qarai
[Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load -Saheeh International
-
20:102
يَوْمَ يُ
نف َخُ فِىٱ ل صُّورِ ۚ وَنَحْشُرُٱ لْمُجْ رِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ۢز ُرْقًۭا ١٠٢Yawma yunfakhu fee assooriwanahshuru almujrimeena yawma-ithin zurqa
—the day the Trumpet will be blown; on that day We shall muster the guilty with blind eyes.Ali Quli Qarai
The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed.Saheeh International
-
20:103
يَتَخَ
ٰ فَتُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِن ل َّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا عَشْرًۭا ١٠٣Yatakhafatoona baynahum in labithtumilla AAashra
They will whisper to one another: ‘You have stayed only for ten [days].’Ali Quli Qarai
They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]."Saheeh International
-
20:104
نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذْ يَقُولُ أَمْثَلُهُمْ طَرِيقَةً إ
ِن ل َّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا يَوْمًۭا ١٠٤Nahnu aAAlamu bima yaqooloonaith yaqoolu amthaluhum tareeqatan in labithtum illayawma
We know best what they will say, when the smartest of them in approach will say, ‘You stayed only a day!’Ali Quli Qarai
We are most knowing of what they say when the best of them in manner [i.e., wisdom or speech] will say, "You remained not but one day."Saheeh International
-
20:105
وَيَسَْٔلُونَكَ عَنِ
ٱ لْجِبَالِ فَقُلْ يَنس ِفُهَا رَبِّى نَسْفًۭا ١٠٥Wayas-aloonaka AAani aljibali faqulyansifuha rabbee nasfa
They question you concerning the mountains. Say, ‘My Lord will scatter them [like dust].’Ali Quli Qarai
And they ask you about the mountains, so say, "My Lord will blow them away with a blast.Saheeh International
-
20:106
فَيَذَرُهَا قَا
عً ۭا ص َفْصَفًۭا ١٠٦Fayatharuha qaAAan safsafa
Then He will leave it a level plain.Ali Quli Qarai
And He will leave it [i.e., the earth] a level plain;Saheeh International
-
20:107
لَّا تَرَىٰ فِيهَا عِوَ
جً ۭا و َلَآ أَمْتًۭا ١٠٧La tara feeha AAiwajanwala amta
You will not see any crookedness or unevenness in it.Ali Quli Qarai
You will not see therein a depression or an elevation."Saheeh International
-
20:108
يَوْمَئِ
ذٍ ۢي َتَّبِعُونَٱ ل دَّاعِىَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُۥ ۖ وَخَشَعَتِٱ لْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰ نِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًۭا ١٠٨Yawma-ithin yattabiAAoona addaAAiyala AAiwaja lahu wakhashaAAati al-aswatu lirrahmanifala tasmaAAu illa hamsa
On that day they will follow the summoner without zigzagging. Their voices will be muted before the All-beneficent, and you will hear nothing but a murmur.Ali Quli Qarai
That Day, they [i.e., everyone] will follow [the call of] the Caller [with] no deviation therefrom, and [all] voices will be stilled before the Most Merciful, so you will not hear except a whisper [of footsteps].Saheeh International
-
20:109
يَوْمَئِ
ذٍ ۢل َّا تَنف َعُٱ ل شَّفَٰ عَةُ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُٱ ل رَّحْمَٰ نُ وَرَضِىَ لَهُۥ قَوْلًۭا ١٠٩Yawma-ithin la tanfaAAu ashshafaAAatuilla man athina lahu arrahmanuwaradiya lahu qawla
Intercession will not avail that day except from him whom the All-beneficent allows and approves of his word.Ali Quli Qarai
That Day, no intercession will benefit except [that of] one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and has accepted his word.Saheeh International
-
20:110
يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِه
ِۦ عِلْمًۭا ١١٠YaAAlamu ma bayna aydeehim wamakhalfahum wala yuheetoona bihi AAilma
He knows what is before them and behind them, though they do not comprehend Him in their knowledge.Ali Quli Qarai
He [i.e., Allāh] knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, but they do not encompass it [i.e., what He knows] in knowledge.Saheeh International
-
20:111
۞ وَعَنَتِ
ٱ لْوُجُوهُ لِلْحَىِّٱ لْقَيُّومِ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْمًۭا ١١١WaAAanati alwujoohu lilhayyialqayyoomi waqad khaba man hamala thulma
All faces shall be humbled before the Living One, the All-sustainer, and those who bear [the burden of] wrongdoing will fail.Ali Quli Qarai
And [all] faces will be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. And he will have failed who carries injustice.Saheeh International
-
20:112
وَم
َن ي َعْمَلْ مِنَٱ ل صَّٰ لِحَٰ تِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ۭف َلَا يَخَافُ ظُلْمً ۭا و َلَا هَضْمًۭا ١١٢Waman yaAAmal mina assalihatiwahuwa mu/minun fala yakhafu thulmanwala hadma
But whoever does righteous deeds, being faithful, will neither fear any injustice or disparagement.Ali Quli Qarai
But he who does of righteous deeds while he is a believer - he will neither fear injustice nor deprivation.Saheeh International
-
20:113
وَكَذَ
ٰ لِكَ أَنز َلْنَٰ هُ قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّ ۭا و َصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَٱ لْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرًۭا ١١٣Wakathalika anzalnahu qur-ananAAarabiyyan wasarrafna feehi mina alwaAAeedilaAAallahum yattaqoona aw yuhdithu lahum thikra
Thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran and We have paraphrased the warnings in it variously so that they may be Godwary, or it may prompt them to remembrance.Ali Quli Qarai
And thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’ān and have diversified therein the warnings that perhaps they will avoid [sin] or it would cause them remembrance.Saheeh International
-
20:114
فَتَعَ
ٰ لَىٱ للَّهُٱ لْمَلِكُٱ لْحَقُّ ۗ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِٱ لْقُرْءَانِ مِن ق َبْ لِ أَن ي ُقْ ضَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُۥ ۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْ نِى عِلْمًۭا ١١٤FataAAala Allahualmaliku alhaqqu wala taAAjal bilqur-animin qabli an yuqda ilayka wahyuhu waqul rabbizidnee AAilma
So exalted is Allah, the True Sovereign. Do not hasten with the Quran before its revelation is completed for you, and say, ‘My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.’Ali Quli Qarai
So high [above all] is Allāh, the Sovereign, the Truth. And, [O Muḥammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur’ān before its revelation is completed to you, and say, "My Lord, increase me in knowledge."Saheeh International
-
20:115
وَلَقَ
دْ عَهِدْ نَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ق َبْ لُ فَنَسِىَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُۥ عَزْمًۭا ١١٥Walaqad AAahidna ila adamamin qablu fanasiya walam najid lahu AAazma
Certainly We had enjoined Adam earlier; but he forgot, and We did not find any resoluteness in him.Ali Quli Qarai
And We had already taken a promise from Adam before, but he forgot; and We found not in him determination.Saheeh International
-
20:116
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَ
ٰٓ ئِكَةِٱ سْجُدُوا۟ لَِٔادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓ ا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْ لِيسَ أَبَىٰ ١١٦Wa-ith qulna lilmala-ikatiosjudoo li-adama fasajadoo illa ibleesa aba
When We said to the angels, ‘Prostrate before Adam,’ they prostrated, but not Iblis: he refused.Ali Quli Qarai
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except Iblees; he refused.Saheeh International
-
20:117
فَقُلْنَا يَ
ٰٓ َٔادَمُ إِنّ َ هَٰ ذَا عَدُوٌّ ۭل َّكَ وَلِزَوْجِكَ فَلَا يُخْرِجَنّ َكُمَا مِنَٱ لْجَنّ َةِ فَتَشْقَىٰٓ ١١٧Faqulna ya adamu innahatha AAaduwwun laka walizawjika falayukhrijannakuma mina aljannati fatashqa
We said, ‘O Adam! This is indeed an enemy of yours and your mate’s. So do not let him expel you from paradise, or you will be miserable.Ali Quli Qarai
So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer.Saheeh International
-
20:118
إِ
نّ َ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعْرَىٰ ١١٨Inna laka alla tajooAAa feehawala taAAra
You will neither be hungry in it nor naked.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein or be unclothed.Saheeh International
-
20:119
وَأَ
نّ َكَ لَا تَظْمَؤُا۟ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضْحَىٰ ١١٩Waannaka la tathmaofeeha wala tadha
You will neither be thirsty in it, nor suffer from [the heat of] the sun.’Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, you will not be thirsty therein or be hot from the sun."Saheeh International
-
20:120
فَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ
ٱ ل شَّيْطَٰ نُ قَالَ يَٰٓ َٔادَمُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِٱ لْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٍ ۢل َّا يَبْ لَىٰ ١٢٠Fawaswasa ilayhi ashshaytanuqala ya adamu hal adulluka AAalashajarati alkhuldi wamulkin la yabla
Then Satan tempted him. He said, ‘O Adam! Shall I show you the tree of immortality, and an imperishable kingdom?’Ali Quli Qarai
Then Satan whispered to him; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?"Saheeh International
-
20:121
فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَ
ٰ تُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن و َرَقِٱ لْجَنّ َةِ ۚ وَعَصَىٰٓ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَوَىٰ ١٢١Faakala minha fabadat lahumasaw-atuhuma watafiqa yakhsifaniAAalayhima min waraqi aljannati waAAasa adamurabbahu faghawa
So they both ate of it, and their nakedness became evident to them, and they began to stitch over themselves with the leaves of paradise. Adam disobeyed his Lord, and went amiss.Ali Quli Qarai
And they [i.e., Adam and his wife] ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred.Saheeh International
-
20:122
ثُ
مّ َٱ جْ تَبَٰ هُ رَبُّهُۥ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَدَىٰ ١٢٢Thumma ijtabahu rabbuhu fatabaAAalayhi wahada
Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him clemently, and guided him.Ali Quli Qarai
Then his Lord chose him and turned to him in forgiveness and guided [him].Saheeh International
-
20:123
قَالَ
ٱ هْبِطَا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًۢا ۖ ب َعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ ۭۖ ف َإِمّ َا يَأْتِيَنّ َكُم م ِّنّ ِى هُدً ۭى ف َمَنِٱ تَّبَعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَىٰ ١٢٣Qala ihbita minhajameeAAan baAAdukum libaAAdin AAaduwwun fa-immaya/tiyannakum minnee hudan famani ittabaAAa hudaya falayadillu wala yashqa
He said, ‘Get down both of you from it, all together, being enemies of one another! Yet, should any guidance come to you from Me, those who follow My guidance will not go astray, nor will they be miserable.Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "Descend from it [i.e., Paradise] - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter].Saheeh International
-
20:124
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَ
ن ذ ِكْرِى فَإِنّ َ لَهُۥ مَعِيشَةً ۭض َنكً ۭا و َنَحْشُرُهُۥ يَوْمَٱ لْقِيَٰ مَةِ أَعْمَىٰ ١٢٤Waman aAArada AAan thikreefa-inna lahu maAAeeshatan danka wanahshuruhuyawma alqiyamati aAAma
But whoever disregards My remembrance, his shall be a wretched life, and We shall raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection.’Ali Quli Qarai
And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed [i.e., difficult] life, and We will gather [i.e., raise] him on the Day of Resurrection blind."Saheeh International
-
20:125
قَالَ رَبِّ لِمَ حَشَرْتَن
ِىٓ أَعْمَىٰ وَقَدْ كُنت ُ بَصِيرًۭا ١٢٥Qala rabbi lima hashartaneeaAAma waqad kuntu baseera
He will say, ‘My Lord! Why have You raised me blind, though I used to see?’Ali Quli Qarai
He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?"Saheeh International
-
20:126
قَالَ كَذَ
ٰ لِكَ أَتَتْكَ ءَايَٰ تُنَا فَنَسِيتَهَا ۖ وَكَذَٰ لِكَٱ لْيَوْمَ تُنس َىٰ ١٢٦Qala kathalika atatka ayatunafanaseetaha wakathalika alyawma tunsa
He will say: ‘So it is. Our signs came to you, but you forgot them, and so you will be forgotten today.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot [i.e., disregarded] them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten."Saheeh International
-
20:127
وَكَذَ
ٰ لِكَ نَجْ زِى مَنْ أَسْرَفَ وَلَمْ يُؤْمِنۢ ب َِٔايَٰ تِ رَبِّهِۦ ۚ وَلَعَذَابُٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْ قَىٰٓ ١٢٧Wakathalika najzee man asrafa walamyu/min bi-ayati rabbihi walaAAathabu al-akhiratiashaddu waabqa
Thus do We requite those who transgress and do not believe in the signs of their Lord, and the punishment of the Hereafter is severer and more lasting.Ali Quli Qarai
And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring.Saheeh International
-
20:128
أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَ
بْ لَهُم م ِّنَٱ لْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَٰ كِنِهِمْ ۗ إِنّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لََٔايَٰ تٍ ۢل ِّأُو۟ لِىٱ ل نّ ُهَىٰ ١٢٨Afalam yahdi lahum kam ahlaknaqablahum mina alqurooni yamshoona fee masakinihim inna feethalika laayatin li-olee annuha
Does it not dawn upon them how many generations We have destroyed before them, amid [the ruins of] whose dwellings they walk? There are indeed signs in this for those who have reason.Ali Quli Qarai
Then, has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence.Saheeh International
-
20:129
وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَ
ةٌ ۭس َبَقَتْ مِن ر َّبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَامً ۭا و َأَجَلٌ ۭم ُّسَمّ ًۭى ١٢٩Walawla kalimatun sabaqat minrabbika lakana lizaman waajalun musamma
Were it not for a prior decree of your Lord and a specified time, [their doom] would have attended [their guilt].Ali Quli Qarai
And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it [i.e., punishment] would have been an obligation [due immediately], and [if not for] a specified term [decreed].Saheeh International
-
20:130
فَ
ٱ صْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْ لَ طُلُوعِٱ ل شَّمْسِ وَقَبْ لَ غُرُوبِهَا ۖ وَمِنْ ءَانَآئِٱ لَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْ وَأَطْ رَافَٱ ل نّ َهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرْضَىٰ ١٣٠Fasbir AAala mayaqooloona wasabbih bihamdi rabbika qabla tulooAAiashshamsi waqabla ghuroobiha wamin ana-iallayli fasabbih waatrafa annaharilaAAallaka tarda
So be patient with what they say, and celebrate the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the sunset, and glorify Him in watches of the night and at the day’s ends, that you may be pleased.Ali Quli Qarai
So be patient over what they say and exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied.Saheeh International

20:131
وَلَا تَمُدَّ
نّ َ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰ جً ۭا م ِّنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَٱ لْحَيَو ٰ ةِٱ ل دُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ ۭو َأَبْ قَىٰ ١٣١Wala tamuddanna AAaynayka ilama mattaAAna bihi azwajan minhum zahrata alhayatiaddunya linaftinahum feehi warizqu rabbika khayrunwaabqa
Do not extend your glance toward what We have provided certain groups of them as a glitter of the life of this world, so that We may test them thereby. The provision of your Lord is better and more lasting.Ali Quli Qarai
And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [some] categories of them, [its being but] the splendor of worldly life by which We test them. And the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring.Saheeh International

20:132
وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِ
ٱ ل صَّلَو ٰ ةِ وَٱ صْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا ۖ لَا نَسَْٔلُكَ رِزْقً ۭا ۖ ن َّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ ۗ وَٱ لْعَٰ قِبَةُ لِلتَّقْ وَىٰ ١٣٢Wa/mur ahlaka bissalatiwastabir AAalayha la nas-alukarizqan nahnu narzuquka walAAaqibatu littaqwa
And bid your family to prayer and be steadfast in maintaining it. We do not ask any provision of you: it is We who provide for you, and to Godwariness belongs the ultimate outcome [in the Hereafter].Ali Quli Qarai
And enjoin prayer upon your family [and people] and be steadfast therein. We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the [best] outcome is for [those of] righteousness.Saheeh International

20:133
وَقَالُو
ا۟ لَوْلَا يَأْتِينَا بَِٔايَةٍ ۢم ِّن ر َّبِّهِۦٓ ۚ أَوَلَمْ تَأْتِهِم ب َيِّنَةُ مَا فِىٱ ل صُّحُفِٱ لْأُولَىٰ ١٣٣Waqaloo lawla ya/teenabi-ayatin min rabbihi awa lam ta/tihim bayyinatu mafee assuhufi al-oola
They say, ‘Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?’ Has there not come to them a clear proof in that which is in the former scriptures?Ali Quli Qarai
And they say, "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has there not come to them evidence of what was in the former scriptures?Saheeh International

20:134
وَلَوْ أَ
نّ َآ أَهْلَكْنَٰ هُم ب ِعَذَابٍ ۢم ِّن ق َبْ لِهِۦ لَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لَوْلَآ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولً ۭاف َنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰ تِكَ مِن ق َبْ لِ أَن ن َّذِلَّ وَنَخْزَىٰ ١٣٤Walaw anna ahlaknahum biAAathabinmin qablihi laqaloo rabbana lawla arsaltailayna rasoolan fanattabiAAa ayatika minqabli an nathilla wanakhza
Had We destroyed them with a punishment before it, they would have surely said, ‘Our Lord! Why did You not send us an apostle so that we might have followed Your signs before we were abased and disgraced?’Ali Quli Qarai
And if We had destroyed them with a punishment before him, they would have said, "Our Lord, why did You not send to us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses [i.e., teachings] before we were humiliated and disgraced?"Saheeh International

20:135
قُلْ كُ
لٌّ ۭم ُّتَرَبِّصٌ ۭف َتَرَبَّصُوا۟ ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَصْحَٰ بُٱ ل صِّرَٰ طِٱ ل سَّوِىِّ وَمَنِٱ هْتَدَىٰ ١٣٥Qul kullun mutarabbisun fatarabbasoofasataAAlamoona man as-habu assiratiassawiyyi wamani ihtada
Say, ‘Everyone [of us] is waiting. So wait! Soon you will know who are the people of the right path, and who is [rightly] guided.’Ali Quli Qarai
Say, "Each [of us] is waiting; so wait. For you will know who are the companions of the sound path and who is guided."Saheeh International
