Al-Anbya · The Prophets
112 verses · Revealed in Makkah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
21:1
ٱقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِى غَفْلَةٍ مُّعْرِضُونَ ١
Iqtaraba linnasi hisabuhumwahum fee ghaflatin muAAridoon
QaraiMankind’s reckoning has drawn near to them, yet they are disregardful in [their] obliviousness.
Saheeh International[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.
-
21:2
مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِم مُّحْدَثٍ إِلَّا ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ ٢
Ma ya/teehim min thikrin minrabbihim muhdathin illa istamaAAoohu wahumyalAAaboon
QaraiThere does not come to them any new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it as they play around,
Saheeh InternationalNo mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play
-
21:3
لَاهِيَةً قُلُوبُهُمْ ۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجْوَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ هَلْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ ۖ أَفَتَأْتُونَ ٱلسِّحْرَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ ٣
Lahiyatan quloobuhum waasarroo annajwaallatheena thalamoo hal hatha illabasharun mithlukum afata/toona assihra waantum tubsiroon
Qaraitheir hearts set on diversions. The wrongdoers secretly whisper together, [saying], ‘Is this [man] not a human being like yourselves? Will you give in to magic with open eyes?’
Saheeh InternationalWith their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?"

21:4
قَالَ رَبِّى يَعْلَمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٤
Qala rabbee yaAAlamu alqawla fee assama-iwal-ardi wahuwa assameeAAu alAAaleem
QaraiHe said, ‘My Lord knows every word [spoken] in the sky and on the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.’
Saheeh InternationalHe [the Prophet (ﷺ)] said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing."

21:5
بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ أَضْغَٰثُ أَحْلَٰمٍۭ بَلِ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ بَلْ هُوَ شَاعِرٌ فَلْيَأْتِنَا بَِٔايَةٍ كَمَآ أُرْسِلَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ٥
Bal qaloo adghathu ahlaminbali iftarahu bal huwa shaAAirun falya/tinabi-ayatin kama orsila al-awwaloon
QaraiBut they said, ‘[They are] muddled dreams!’ ‘Indeed, he has fabricated it!’ ‘Indeed, he is a poet!’ ‘Let him bring us a sign, like those sent to the former generations.’
Saheeh InternationalBut they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."

21:6
مَآ ءَامَنَتْ قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَٰهَآ ۖ أَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ ٦
Ma amanat qablahum min qaryatinahlaknaha afahum yu/minoon
QaraiNo town that We destroyed before them believed. Will these then have faith [if they are sent signs]?
Saheeh InternationalNot a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe?
-
21:7
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَسَْٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٧
Wama arsalna qablaka illarijalan noohee ilayhim fas-aloo ahla aththikriin kuntum la taAAlamoon
QaraiWe did not send [any apostles] before you except as men to whom We revealed. Ask the People of the Reminder if you do not know.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We sent not before you, [O Muḥammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.
-
21:8
وَمَا جَعَلْنَٰهُمْ جَسَدًا لَّا يَأْكُلُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ خَٰلِدِينَ ٨
Wama jaAAalnahum jasadan laya/kuloona attaAAama wama kanookhalideen
QaraiWe did not make them bodies that did not eat food, nor were they immortal.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We did not make them [i.e., the prophets] forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth].

21:9
ثُمَّ صَدَقْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْوَعْدَ فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُمْ وَمَن نَّشَآءُ وَأَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ ٩
Thumma sadaqnahumu alwaAAdafaanjaynahum waman nashao waahlaknaalmusrifeen
QaraiThen We fulfilled Our promise to them, and We delivered them and whomever We wished, and We destroyed the transgressors.
Saheeh InternationalThen We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors.

21:10
لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَٰبًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ ۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ١٠
Laqad anzalna ilaykum kitabanfeehi thikrukum afala taAAqiloon
QaraiCertainly We have sent down to you a Book in which there is an admonition for you. Do you not exercise your reason?
Saheeh InternationalWe have certainly sent down to you a Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in which is your mention. Then will you not reason?

21:11
وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ كَانَتْ ظَالِمَةً وَأَنشَأْنَا بَعْدَهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ ١١
Wakam qasamna min qaryatin kanatthalimatan waansha/na baAAdahaqawman akhareen
QaraiHow many a town We have smashed that had been wrongdoing, and We brought forth another people after it.
Saheeh InternationalAnd how many a city which was unjust have We shattered and produced after it another people.
-
21:12
فَلَمَّآ أَحَسُّوا۟ بَأْسَنَآ إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَرْكُضُونَ ١٢
Falamma ahassoo ba/sanaitha hum minha yarkudoon
QaraiSo when they sighted Our punishment, behold, they ran away from it.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when they [i.e., its inhabitants] perceived Our punishment, at once they fled from it.
-
21:13
لَا تَرْكُضُوا۟ وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَمَسَٰكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسَْٔلُونَ ١٣
La tarkudoo warjiAAooila ma otriftum feehi wamasakinikumlaAAallakum tus-aloon
Qarai‘Do not run away! Return to the opulence you were given to enjoy and to your dwellings so that you may be questioned!’
Saheeh International[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned."

21:14
قَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ ١٤
Qaloo ya waylana innakunna thalimeen
QaraiThey said, ‘Woe to us! We have indeed been wrongdoers!’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."

21:15
فَمَا زَالَت تِّلْكَ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَعَلْنَٰهُمْ حَصِيدًا خَٰمِدِينَ ١٥
Fama zalat tilka daAAwahumhatta jaAAalnahum haseedan khamideen
QaraiThat remained their cry until We turned them into a mown field, stilled [like burnt ashes].
Saheeh InternationalAnd that declaration of theirs did not cease until We made them [as] a harvest [mowed down], extinguished [like a fire].
-
21:16
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ ١٦
Wama khalaqna assamaawal-arda wama baynahuma laAAibeen
QaraiWe did not create the sky and the earth and whatever is between them for play.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play.
-
21:17
لَوْ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهْوًا لَّٱتَّخَذْنَٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّآ إِن كُنَّا فَٰعِلِينَ ١٧
Law aradna an nattakhithalahwan lattakhathnahu min ladunna inkunna faAAileen
QaraiHad We desired to take up some diversion We would have taken it up with Ourselves, were We to do [so].
Saheeh InternationalHad We intended to take a diversion, We could have taken it from [what is] with Us - if [indeed] We were to do so.
-
21:18
بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِٱلْحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلْبَٰطِلِ فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ ۚ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْوَيْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ ١٨
Bal naqthifu bilhaqqiAAala albatili fayadmaghuhu fa-itha huwa zahiqunwalakumu alwaylu mimma tasifoon
QaraiIndeed, We hurl the truth against falsehood, and it crushes its head, and behold, falsehood vanishes! And woe to you for what you allege [about Allah].
Saheeh InternationalRather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it, and thereupon it departs. And for you is destruction from that which you describe.
-
21:19
وَلَهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَنْ عِندَهُۥ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ ١٩
Walahu man fee assamawatiwal-ardi waman AAindahu la yastakbiroonaAAan AAibadatihi wala yastahsiroon
QaraiTo Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and those who are near Him do not disdain to worship Him, nor do they become weary.
Saheeh InternationalTo Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him [i.e., the angels] are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire.
-
21:20
يُسَبِّحُونَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لَا يَفْتُرُونَ ٢٠
Yusabbihoona allayla wannaharala yafturoon
QaraiThey glorify [Him] night and day, and they do not flag.
Saheeh InternationalThey exalt [Him] night and day [and] do not slacken.
-
21:21
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَةً مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ هُمْ يُنشِرُونَ ٢١
Ami ittakhathoo alihatan minaal-ardi hum yunshiroon
QaraiHave they taken gods from the earth who raise [the dead]?
Saheeh InternationalOr have they [i.e., men] taken for themselves gods from the earth who resurrect [the dead]?
-
21:22
لَوْ كَانَ فِيهِمَآ ءَالِهَةٌ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَا ۚ فَسُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ٢٢
Law kana feehima alihatunilla Allahu lafasadata fasubhana Allahirabbi alAAarshi AAamma yasifoon
QaraiHad there been any gods in them other than Allah, they would surely have fallen apart. Clear is Allah, the Lord of the Throne, of what they allege [concerning Him].
Saheeh InternationalHad there been within them [i.e., the heavens and earth] gods besides Allāh, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allāh, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
-
21:23
لَا يُسَْٔلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسَْٔلُونَ ٢٣
La yus-alu AAamma yafAAaluwahum yus-aloon
QaraiHe is not questioned concerning what He does, but they are questioned.
Saheeh InternationalHe is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.
-
21:24
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً ۖ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ ۖ هَٰذَا ذِكْرُ مَن مَّعِىَ وَذِكْرُ مَن قَبْلِى ۗ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ فَهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ ٢٤
Ami ittakhathoo min doonihi alihatanqul hatoo burhanakum hatha thikru manmaAAiya wathikru man qablee bal aktharuhum layaAAlamoona alhaqqa fahum muAAridoon
QaraiHave they taken gods besides Him? Say, ‘Produce your evidence! This is a precept of those who are with me, and a precept of those [who went] before me.’ But most of them do not know the truth, and so they are disregardful.
Saheeh InternationalOr have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muḥammad], "Produce your proof. This [Qur’ān] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me." But most of them do not know the truth, so they are turning away.
-
21:25
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدُونِ ٢٥
Wama arsalna min qablika minrasoolin illa noohee ilayhi annahu la ilahailla ana faAAbudoon
QaraiWe did not send any apostle before you but that We revealed to him that ‘There is no god except Me; so worship Me.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd We sent not before you any messenger except We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."
-
21:26
وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَلَدًا ۗ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ ۚ بَلْ عِبَادٌ مُّكْرَمُونَ ٢٦
Waqaloo ittakhatha arrahmanuwaladan subhanahu bal AAibadun mukramoon
QaraiThey say, ‘The All-beneficent has taken offsprings.’ Immaculate is He! Indeed, they are [His] honoured servants.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants.
-
21:27
لَا يَسْبِقُونَهُۥ بِٱلْقَوْلِ وَهُم بِأَمْرِهِۦ يَعْمَلُونَ ٢٧
La yasbiqoonahu bilqawliwahum bi-amrihi yaAAmaloon
QaraiThey do not venture to speak ahead of Him, and they act by His command.
Saheeh InternationalThey cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command.
-
21:28
يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يَشْفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنْ خَشْيَتِهِۦ مُشْفِقُونَ ٢٨
YaAAlamu ma bayna aydeehim wamakhalfahum wala yashfaAAoona illa limani irtadawahum min khashyatihi mushfiqoon
QaraiHe knows that which is before them and that which is behind them, and they do not intercede except for someone He approves of, and they are apprehensive for the fear of Him.
Saheeh InternationalHe knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive.
-
21:29
۞ وَمَن يَقُلْ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّىٓ إِلَٰهٌ مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِيهِ جَهَنَّمَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٢٩
Waman yaqul minhum innee ilahun mindoonihi fathalika najzeehi jahannama kathalikanajzee aththalimeen
QaraiShould any of them say, ‘I am a god besides Him,’ We will requite him with hell. Thus do We requite the wrongdoers.
Saheeh InternationalAnd whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him" - that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.

21:30
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَٰهُمَا ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَىٍّ ۖ أَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٣٠
Awa lam yara allatheenakafaroo anna assamawati wal-ardakanata ratqan fafataqnahuma wajaAAalnamina alma-i kulla shay-in hayyin afalayu/minoon
QaraiHave the faithless not regarded that the heavens and the earth were interwoven and We unravelled them, and We made every living thing out of water? Will they not then have faith?
Saheeh InternationalHave those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and then We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?
-
21:31
وَجَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِهِمْ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا فِجَاجًا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ ٣١
WajaAAalna fee al-ardi rawasiyaan tameeda bihim wajaAAalna feeha fijajansubulan laAAallahum yahtadoon
QaraiWe set firm mountains in the earth lest it should shake with them, and We made broad ways in them so that they may be guided [to their destinations].
Saheeh InternationalAnd We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided.
-
21:32
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ سَقْفًا مَّحْفُوظًا ۖ وَهُمْ عَنْ ءَايَٰتِهَا مُعْرِضُونَ ٣٢
WajaAAalna assamaasaqfan mahfoothan wahum AAan ayatihamuAAridoon
QaraiWe made the sky a preserved roof and yet they are disregardful of its signs.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away.
-
21:33
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ كُلٌّ فِى فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ ٣٣
Wahuwa allathee khalaqa allayla wannaharawashshamsa walqamara kullun fee falakin yasbahoon
QaraiIt is He who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon, each swimming in an orbit.
Saheeh InternationalAnd it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming.
-
21:34
وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ ٱلْخُلْدَ ۖ أَفَإِي۟ن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ ٱلْخَٰلِدُونَ ٣٤
Wama jaAAalna libasharin minqablika alkhulda afa-in mitta fahumu alkhalidoon
QaraiWe did not give immortality to any human before you. If you are fated to die, will they live on forever?
Saheeh InternationalAnd We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal?
-
21:35
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۗ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِٱلشَّرِّ وَٱلْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ ٣٥
Kullu nafsin tha-iqatu almawtiwanablookum bishsharri walkhayri fitnatanwa-ilayna turjaAAoon
QaraiEvery soul shall taste death, and We will test you with good and ill by way of test, and to Us you will be brought back.
Saheeh InternationalEvery soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.
-
21:36
وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَذْكُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ ٣٦
Wa-itha raaka allatheenakafaroo in yattakhithoonaka illa huzuwan ahathaallathee yathkuru alihatakum wahum bithikriarrahmani hum kafiroon
QaraiWhenever the faithless see you they only take you in derision: ‘Is this the one who remembers your gods?’ while they remain defiant towards the remembrance of the All-beneficent.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muḥammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who mentions [i.e., insults] your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers.

21:37
خُلِقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مِنْ عَجَلٍ ۚ سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِى فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ ٣٧
Khuliqa al-insanu min AAajalinsaoreekum ayatee fala tastaAAjiloon
QaraiMan is a creature of haste. Soon I will show you My signs. So do not ask Me to hasten.
Saheeh InternationalMan was created of haste [i.e., impatience]. I will show you My signs [i.e., vengeance], so do not impatiently urge Me.
-
21:38
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ ٣٨
Wayaqooloona mata hathaalwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeen
QaraiAnd they say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"
-
21:39
لَوْ يَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ حِينَ لَا يَكُفُّونَ عَن وُجُوهِهِمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا عَن ظُهُورِهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ ٣٩
Law yaAAlamu allatheena kafaroo heenala yakuffoona AAan wujoohihimu annara walaAAan thuhoorihim wala hum yunsaroon
QaraiIf only the faithless knew about the time when they will not be able to keep the Fire off their faces and their backs, nor will they be helped!
Saheeh InternationalIf those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...
-
21:40
بَلْ تَأْتِيهِم بَغْتَةً فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ ٤٠
Bal ta/teehim baghtatan fatabhatuhum falayastateeAAoona raddaha wala hum yuntharoon
QaraiIndeed, it will overtake them suddenly, dumbfounding them. So they will neither be able to avert it, nor will they be granted any respite.
Saheeh InternationalRather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.

21:41
وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ٤١
Walaqadi istuhzi-a birusulin min qablika fahaqabillatheena sakhiroo minhum ma kanoobihi yastahzi-oon
QaraiApostles were certainly derided before you; but those who ridiculed them were besieged by what they had been deriding.
Saheeh InternationalAnd already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
-
21:42
قُلْ مَن يَكْلَؤُكُم بِٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ مِنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۗ بَلْ هُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ ٤٢
Qul man yaklaokum billayli wannaharimina arrahmani bal hum AAan thikrirabbihim muAAridoon
QaraiSay, ‘Who can guard you, day and night, against [the punishment of] the All-beneficent [should He want to punish you]?’ Indeed, they are disregardful of their Lord’s remembrance.
Saheeh InternationalSay, "Who can protect you at night or by day from the Most Merciful?" But they are, from the remembrance of their Lord, turning away.

21:43
أَمْ لَهُمْ ءَالِهَةٌ تَمْنَعُهُم مِّن دُونِنَا ۚ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَا هُم مِّنَّا يُصْحَبُونَ ٤٣
Am lahum alihatun tamnaAAuhum mindoonina la yastateeAAoona nasraanfusihim wala hum minna yushaboon
QaraiDo they have gods besides Us to defend them? Neither can they help themselves, nor can they shield [the idolaters] from Us.
Saheeh InternationalOr do they have gods to defend them other than Us? They are unable [even] to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us.

21:44
بَلْ مَتَّعْنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ طَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعُمُرُ ۗ أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّا نَأْتِى ٱلْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَآ ۚ أَفَهُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ ٤٤
Bal mattaAAna haola-iwaabaahum hatta talaAAalayhimu alAAumuru afala yarawna anna na/teeal-arda nanqusuha min atrafihaafahumu alghaliboon
QaraiIndeed, We have provided for them and their fathers until they lived on for long years. Do they not see how We visit the land diminishing it at its edges? Are they the ones who will prevail?
Saheeh InternationalBut, [on the contrary], We have provided good things for these [disbelievers] and their fathers until life was prolonged for them. Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders? Is it they who will overcome?

21:45
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُنذِرُكُم بِٱلْوَحْىِ ۚ وَلَا يَسْمَعُ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا مَا يُنذَرُونَ ٤٥
Qul innama onthirukum bilwahyiwala yasmaAAu assummu adduAAaaitha ma yuntharoon
QaraiSay, ‘I indeed warn you by the means of revelation.’ But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.
Saheeh InternationalSay, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.
-
21:46
وَلَئِن مَّسَّتْهُمْ نَفْحَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ يَٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ ٤٦
Wala-in massat-hum nafhatun min AAathabirabbika layaqoolunna ya waylana inna kunnathalimeen
QaraiShould a whiff of your Lord’s punishment touch them, they will surely say, ‘Woe to us! We have indeed been wrongdoers!’
Saheeh InternationalAnd if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."

21:47
وَنَضَعُ ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ ٱلْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَئًْا ۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَٰسِبِينَ ٤٧
WanadaAAu almawazeena alqistaliyawmi alqiyamati fala tuthlamunafsun shay-an wa-in kana mithqala habbatinmin khardalin atayna biha wakafa binahasibeen
QaraiWe shall set up just scales on the Day of Resurrection, and no soul will be wronged in the least. Even if it be the weight of a mustard seed We shall produce it and We suffice as reckoners.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

21:48
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ وَضِيَآءً وَذِكْرًا لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ٤٨
Walaqad atayna moosawaharoona alfurqana wadiyaan wathikranlilmuttaqeen
QaraiCertainly We gave Moses and Aaron the Criterion, a light and reminder for the Godwary
Saheeh InternationalAnd We had already given Moses and Aaron the criterion and a light and a reminder for the righteous
-
21:49
ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ مُشْفِقُونَ ٤٩
Allatheena yakhshawna rabbahum bilghaybiwahum mina assaAAati mushfiqoon
Qarai—those who fear their Lord in secret, and who are apprehensive of the Hour.
Saheeh InternationalWho fear their Lord unseen, while they are of the Hour apprehensive.
-
21:50
وَهَٰذَا ذِكْرٌ مُّبَارَكٌ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ ۚ أَفَأَنتُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ٥٠
Wahatha thikrun mubarakunanzalnahu afaantum lahu munkiroon
QaraiThis [too] is a blessed reminder, which We have sent down. Will you then deny it?
Saheeh InternationalAnd this [Qur’ān] is a blessed message which We have sent down. Then are you with it unacquainted?
-
21:51
۞ وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ رُشْدَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِۦ عَٰلِمِينَ ٥١
Walaqad atayna ibraheemarushdahu min qablu wakunna bihi AAalimeen
QaraiCertainly We had given Abraham his probity before, and We knew him
Saheeh InternationalAnd We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing
-
21:52
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلتَّمَاثِيلُ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنتُمْ لَهَا عَٰكِفُونَ ٥٢
Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mahathihi attamatheelu allatee antum lahaAAakifoon
Qaraiwhen he said to his father and his people, ‘What are these images to which you keep on clinging?’
Saheeh InternationalWhen he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?"
-
21:53
قَالُوا۟ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا لَهَا عَٰبِدِينَ ٥٣
Qaloo wajadna abaanalaha AAabideen
QaraiThey said, ‘We found our fathers worshipping them.’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them."

21:54
قَالَ لَقَدْ كُنتُمْ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمْ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٥٤
Qala laqad kuntum antum waabaokumfee dalalin mubeen
QaraiHe said, ‘Certainly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error."
-
21:55
قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ أَمْ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱللَّٰعِبِينَ ٥٥
Qaloo aji/tana bilhaqqiam anta mina allaAAibeen
QaraiThey said, ‘Are you telling the truth, or are you [just] kidding?’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?"
-
21:56
قَالَ بَل رَّبُّكُمْ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَهُنَّ وَأَنَا۠ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ ٥٦
Qala bal rabbukum rabbu assamawatiwal-ardi allathee fatarahunna waanaAAala thalikum mina ashshahideen
QaraiHe said, ‘Indeed, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who originated them, and I affirm that.
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify.
-
21:57
وَتَٱللَّهِ لَأَكِيدَنَّ أَصْنَٰمَكُم بَعْدَ أَن تُوَلُّوا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ ٥٧
Watallahi laakeedanna asnamakumbaAAda an tuwalloo mudbireen
QaraiBy Allah, I will devise a stratagem against your idols after you have gone away.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd [I swear] by Allāh, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away."
-
21:58
فَجَعَلَهُمْ جُذَٰذًا إِلَّا كَبِيرًا لَّهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ يَرْجِعُونَ ٥٨
FajaAAalahum juthathan illakabeeran lahum laAAallahum ilayhi yarjiAAoon
QaraiSo he broke them into pieces—all except the biggest of them—so that they might come back to it.
Saheeh InternationalSo he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question].
-
21:59
قَالُوا۟ مَن فَعَلَ هَٰذَا بَِٔالِهَتِنَآ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٥٩
Qaloo man faAAala hatha bi-alihatinainnahu lamina aththalimeen
QaraiThey said, ‘Whoever has done this to Our gods?! He is indeed a wrongdoer!’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers."
-
21:60
قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا فَتًى يَذْكُرُهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهُۥٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ ٦٠
Qaloo samiAAna fatan yathkuruhumyuqalu lahu ibraheem
QaraiThey said, ‘We heard a young man mentioning them. He is called ‘‘Abraham.’’ ’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham."
-
21:61
قَالُوا۟ فَأْتُوا۟ بِهِۦ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ ٦١
Qaloo fa/too bihi AAalaaAAyuni annasi laAAallahum yashhadoon
QaraiThey said, ‘Bring him before the people’s eyes so that they may bear witness [against him].’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify."
-
21:62
قَالُوٓا۟ ءَأَنتَ فَعَلْتَ هَٰذَا بَِٔالِهَتِنَا يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ٦٢
Qaloo aanta faAAalta hatha bi-alihatinaya ibraheem
QaraiThey said, ‘Was it you who did this to our gods, O Abraham?’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?"
-
21:63
قَالَ بَلْ فَعَلَهُۥ كَبِيرُهُمْ هَٰذَا فَسَْٔلُوهُمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ يَنطِقُونَ ٦٣
Qala bal faAAalahu kabeeruhum hathafas-aloohum in kanoo yantiqoon
QaraiHe said, ‘No, it was this biggest one of them who did it! Ask them, if they can speak.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak."
-
21:64
فَرَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ أَنتُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ ٦٤
FarajaAAoo ila anfusihim faqalooinnakum antumu aththalimoon
QaraiThereat they came to themselves and said [to one another], ‘Indeed it is you who are the wrongdoers!’
Saheeh InternationalSo they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers."
-
21:65
ثُمَّ نُكِسُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رُءُوسِهِمْ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ يَنطِقُونَ ٦٥
Thumma nukisoo AAala ruoosihim laqadAAalimta ma haola-i yantiqoon
QaraiThen they hung their heads. [However, they said,] ‘You certainly know that they cannot speak.’
Saheeh InternationalThen they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!"
-
21:66
قَالَ أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكُمْ شَئًْا وَلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ ٦٦
Qala afataAAbudoona min dooni Allahima la yanfaAAukum shay-an wala yadurrukum
QaraiHe said, ‘Then, do you worship besides Allah that which cannot cause you any benefit or harm?
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Then do you worship instead of Allāh that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?
-
21:67
أُفٍّ لَّكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ٦٧
Offin lakum walima taAAbudoona mindooni Allahi afala taAAqiloon
QaraiFie on you and what you worship besides Allah! Do you not exercise your reason?’
Saheeh InternationalUff to you and to what you worship instead of Allāh. Then will you not use reason?"
-
21:68
قَالُوا۟ حَرِّقُوهُ وَٱنصُرُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ ٦٨
Qaloo harriqoohu wansurooalihatakum in kuntum faAAileen
QaraiThey said, ‘Burn him, and help your gods, if you are to do anything!’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act."
-
21:69
قُلْنَا يَٰنَارُ كُونِى بَرْدًا وَسَلَٰمًا عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٦٩
Qulna ya naru kooneebardan wasalaman AAala ibraheem
QaraiWe said, ‘O fire! Be cool and safe for Abraham!’
Saheeh InternationalWe [i.e., Allāh] said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."
-
21:70
وَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ ٧٠
Waaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumual-akhsareen
QaraiThey plotted to harm him, but We made them the biggest losers.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the greatest losers.
-
21:71
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا لِلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٧١
Wanajjaynahu walootan ilaal-ardi allatee barakna feeha lilAAalameen
QaraiWe delivered him and Lot toward the land, which We have blessed for all nations.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds [i.e., peoples].
-
21:72
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ نَافِلَةً ۖ وَكُلًّا جَعَلْنَا صَٰلِحِينَ ٧٢
Wawahabna lahu ishaqawayaAAqooba nafilatan wakullan jaAAalna saliheen
QaraiAnd We gave him Isaac, and Jacob as well for a grandson, and each of them We made righteous.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.
-
21:73
وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَإِقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِيتَآءَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا عَٰبِدِينَ ٧٣
WajaAAalnahum a-immatan yahdoonabi-amrina waawhayna ilayhim fiAAla alkhayratiwa-iqama assalati wa-eetaa azzakatiwakanoo lana AAabideen
QaraiWe made them imams, guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them [concerning] the performance of good deeds, the maintenance of prayers, and the giving of zakat, and they used to worship Us.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakāh; and they were worshippers of Us.
-
21:74
وَلُوطًا ءَاتَيْنَٰهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِى كَانَت تَّعْمَلُ ٱلْخَبَٰٓئِثَ ۗ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَٰسِقِينَ ٧٤
Walootan ataynahu hukmanwaAAilman wanajjaynahu mina alqaryati allatee kanattaAAmalu alkhaba-itha innahum kanoo qawma saw-in fasiqeen
QaraiWe gave judgement and knowledge to Lot, and We delivered him from the town which used to commit vicious acts. Indeed, they were an evil and depraved lot.
Saheeh InternationalAnd to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient.
-
21:75
وَأَدْخَلْنَٰهُ فِى رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ٧٥
Waadkhalnahu fee rahmatinainnahu mina assaliheen
QaraiAnd We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was one of the righteous.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous.
-
21:76
وَنُوحًا إِذْ نَادَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٧٦
Wanoohan ith nadamin qablu fastajabna lahu fanajjaynahuwaahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheem
QaraiAnd before that Noah, when he called out, We responded to him and delivered him and his family from the great agony.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allāh] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great affliction [i.e., the flood].
-
21:77
وَنَصَرْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بَِٔايَٰتِنَآ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٧٧
Wanasarnahu mina alqawmi allatheenakaththaboo bi-ayatina innahum kanooqawma saw-in faaghraqnahum ajmaAAeen
QaraiAnd We helped him against the people who denied Our signs. They were indeed an evil lot; so We drowned them all.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We aided [i.e., saved] him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together.
-
21:78
وَدَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ إِذْ يَحْكُمَانِ فِى ٱلْحَرْثِ إِذْ نَفَشَتْ فِيهِ غَنَمُ ٱلْقَوْمِ وَكُنَّا لِحُكْمِهِمْ شَٰهِدِينَ ٧٨
Wadawooda wasulaymana ithyahkumani fee alharthi ith nafashatfeehi ghanamu alqawmi wakunna lihukmihim shahideen
QaraiAnd [remember] David and Solomon when they gave judgement concerning the tillage when the sheep of some people strayed into it by night, and We were witness to their judgement.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field - when the sheep of a people overran it [at night], and We were witness to their judgement.
-
21:79
فَفَهَّمْنَٰهَا سُلَيْمَٰنَ ۚ وَكُلًّا ءَاتَيْنَا حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا ۚ وَسَخَّرْنَا مَعَ دَاوُۥدَ ٱلْجِبَالَ يُسَبِّحْنَ وَٱلطَّيْرَ ۚ وَكُنَّا فَٰعِلِينَ ٧٩
Fafahhamnaha sulaymanawakullan atayna hukman waAAilman wasakhkharnamaAAa dawooda aljibala yusabbihna wattayrawakunna faAAileen
QaraiWe gave its understanding to Solomon, and to each We gave judgement and knowledge. We disposed the mountains and the birds to glorify [Us] with David, and We have been the doer [of these things].
Saheeh InternationalAnd We gave understanding of it [i.e., the case] to Solomon, and to each [of them] We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt [Us], along with David and [also] the birds. And We were doing [that].
-
21:80
وَعَلَّمْنَٰهُ صَنْعَةَ لَبُوسٍ لَّكُمْ لِتُحْصِنَكُم مِّنۢ بَأْسِكُمْ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنتُمْ شَٰكِرُونَ ٨٠
WaAAallamnahu sanAAatalaboosin lakum lituhsinakum min ba/sikum fahal antum shakiroon
QaraiWe taught him the making of coats of mail for you, to protect you from your [own] violence. Will you then be grateful?
Saheeh InternationalAnd We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful?
-
21:81
وَلِسُلَيْمَٰنَ ٱلرِّيحَ عَاصِفَةً تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا ۚ وَكُنَّا بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَٰلِمِينَ ٨١
Walisulaymana arreehaAAasifatan tajree bi-amrihi ila al-ardiallatee barakna feeha wakunna bikullishay-in AAalimeen
QaraiAnd [We disposed] for Solomon the tempestuous wind which blew by his command toward the land which We have blessed, and We have knowledge of all things.
Saheeh InternationalAnd to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing.
-
21:82
وَمِنَ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ مَن يَغُوصُونَ لَهُۥ وَيَعْمَلُونَ عَمَلًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَكُنَّا لَهُمْ حَٰفِظِينَ ٨٢
Wamina ashshayateeni manyaghoosoona lahu wayaAAmaloona AAamalan doona thalikawakunna lahum hafitheen
QaraiAmong the devils were some who dived for him and performed tasks other than that, and We were watchful over them.
Saheeh InternationalAnd of the devils [i.e., jinn] were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian.

21:83
۞ وَأَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ ٨٣
Waayyooba ith nadarabbahu annee massaniya addurru waanta arhamuarrahimeen
QaraiAnd [remember] Job, when he called out to his Lord, ‘Indeed distress has befallen me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful."
-
21:84
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرٍّ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَٰبِدِينَ ٨٤
Fastajabna lahu fakashafnama bihi min durrin waataynahu ahlahuwamithlahum maAAahum rahmatan min AAindina wathikralilAAabideen
QaraiSo We answered his prayer and removed his distress, and We gave him [back] his family along with others like them, as a mercy from Us and an admonition for the devout.
Saheeh InternationalSo We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allāh].
-
21:85
وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِدْرِيسَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ كُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ ٨٥
Wa-ismaAAeela wa-idreesa wathaalkifli kullun mina assabireen
QaraiAnd [remember] Ishmael, Idris, and Dhul-Kifl—each of them was among the patient.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.
-
21:86
وَأَدْخَلْنَٰهُمْ فِى رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ٨٦
Waadkhalnahum fee rahmatinainnahum mina assaliheen
QaraiWe admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were among the righteous.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.
-
21:87
وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَٰضِبًا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ أَن لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٨٧
Watha annooni ith thahabamughadiban fathanna an lan naqdira AAalayhifanada fee aththulumatian la ilaha illa anta subhanaka inneekuntu mina aththalimeen
QaraiAnd [remember] the Man of the Fish, when he left in a rage, thinking that We would not put him to hardship. Then he cried out in the darkness, ‘There is no god except You! You are immaculate! I have indeed been among the wrongdoers!’
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] the man of the fish [i.e., Jonah], when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

21:88
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُۨجِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٨٨
Fastajabna lahu wanajjaynahumina alghammi wakathalika nunjee almu/mineen
QaraiSo We answered his prayer and delivered him from the agony; and thus do We deliver the faithful.
Saheeh InternationalSo We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.
-
21:89
وَزَكَرِيَّآ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِى فَرْدًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ ٨٩
Wazakariyya ith nadarabbahu rabbi la tatharnee fardan waanta khayru alwaritheen
QaraiAnd [remember] Zechariah, when he cried out to his Lord, ‘My Lord! Do not leave me without an heir, and You are the best of inheritors.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while You are the best of inheritors."
-
21:90
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ وَأَصْلَحْنَا لَهُۥ زَوْجَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًا وَرَهَبًا ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَٰشِعِينَ ٩٠
Fastajabna lahu wawahabnalahu yahya waaslahna lahuzawjahu innahum kanoo yusariAAoona fee alkhayratiwayadAAoonana raghaban warahaban wakanoo lanakhashiAAeen
QaraiSo We answered his prayer, and gave him John, and cured for him his wife [of infertility]. Indeed, they were active in [performing] good works, and they would supplicate Us with eagerness and awe and were humble before Us.
Saheeh InternationalSo We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive.
-
21:91
وَٱلَّتِىٓ أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلْنَٰهَا وَٱبْنَهَآ ءَايَةً لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٩١
Wallatee ahsanat farjahafanafakhna feeha min roohinawajaAAalnaha wabnaha ayatanlilAAalameen
QaraiAnd [remember] her who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into her Our spirit, and made her and her son a sign for all the nations.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] the one who guarded her chastity [i.e., Mary], so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [i.e., Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.
-
21:92
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُونِ ٩٢
Inna hathihi ommatukum ommatan wahidatanwaana rabbukum faoAAbudoon
QaraiIndeed this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord. So worship Me.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.
-
21:93
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلٌّ إِلَيْنَا رَٰجِعُونَ ٩٣
WataqattaAAoo amrahum baynahum kullunilayna rajiAAoon
QaraiThey have fragmented their religion among themselves, but everyone of them will return to Us.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [yet] they divided their affair [i.e., that of their religion] among themselves, [but] all to Us will return.
-
21:94
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَا كُفْرَانَ لِسَعْيِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَٰتِبُونَ ٩٤
Faman yaAAmal mina assalihatiwahuwa mu/minun fala kufrana lisaAAyihi wa-innalahu katiboon
QaraiWhoever is faithful and does righteous deeds, his endeavour shall not go unappreciated, and We will indeed record it for him.
Saheeh InternationalSo whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer - no denial will there be for his effort, and indeed We [i.e., Our angels], of it, are recorders.
-
21:95
وَحَرَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَٰهَآ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ ٩٥
Waharamun AAalaqaryatin ahlaknaha annahum la yarjiAAoon
QaraiIt is forbidden for [the people of] any town that We have destroyed [to return to the world]: they shall not return,
Saheeh InternationalAnd it is prohibited to [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return
-
21:96
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فُتِحَتْ يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنسِلُونَ ٩٦
Hatta itha futihatya/jooju wama/jooju wahum min kulli hadabin yansiloon
Qaraiuntil when Gog and Magog are let loose, and they race down from every slope,
Saheeh InternationalUntil when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend
-
21:97
وَٱقْتَرَبَ ٱلْوَعْدُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِىَ شَٰخِصَةٌ أَبْصَٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِى غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ هَٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ ٩٧
Waqtaraba alwaAAdu alhaqqufa-itha hiya shakhisatun absaru allatheenakafaroo ya waylana qad kunna fee ghaflatinmin hatha bal kunna thalimeen
Qaraiand the true promise draws near [to its fulfillment], behold, the faithless will look on with a fixed gaze: ‘Woe to us! We have certainly been oblivious of this! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers!’
Saheeh InternationalAnd [when] the true promise [i.e., the resurrection] has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."

21:98
إِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمْ لَهَا وَٰرِدُونَ ٩٨
Innakum wama taAAbudoona min dooniAllahi hasabu jahannama antum laha waridoon
QaraiIndeed you and what [idols] you worship besides Allah shall be fuel for hell, and you will enter it.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allāh are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.
-
21:99
لَوْ كَانَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ءَالِهَةً مَّا وَرَدُوهَا ۖ وَكُلٌّ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ ٩٩
Law kana haola-i alihatanma waradooha wakullun feeha khalidoon
QaraiHad they been gods, they would not have entered it, and they will all remain in it [forever].
Saheeh InternationalHad these [false deities] been [actual] gods, they would not have come to it, but all are eternal therein.
-
21:100
لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٌ وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يَسْمَعُونَ ١٠٠
Lahum feeha zafeerun wahum feehala yasmaAAoon
QaraiTheir lot therein will be groaning, and they will not hear anything in it.
Saheeh InternationalFor them therein is heavy sighing, and they therein will not hear.
-
21:101
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُم مِّنَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ ١٠١
Inna allatheena sabaqat lahum minnaalhusna ola-ika AAanha mubAAadoon
QaraiIndeed those to whom there has gone beforehand [the promise of] the best reward from Us will be kept away from it.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed.
-
21:102
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَا ۖ وَهُمْ فِى مَا ٱشْتَهَتْ أَنفُسُهُمْ خَٰلِدُونَ ١٠٢
La yasmaAAoona haseesahawahum fee ma ishtahat anfusuhum khalidoon
QaraiThey will not hear even its faint sound and they will remain [forever] in what their souls desire.
Saheeh InternationalThey will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally.
-
21:103
لَا يَحْزُنُهُمُ ٱلْفَزَعُ ٱلْأَكْبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ هَٰذَا يَوْمُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ ١٠٣
La yahzunuhumu alfazaAAual-akbaru watatalaqqahumu almala-ikatu hathayawmukumu allathee kuntum tooAAadoon
QaraiThe Great Terror will not upset them, and the angels will receive them [saying]: ‘This is your day which you were promised.’
Saheeh InternationalThey will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised" -
-
21:104
يَوْمَ نَطْوِى ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَطَىِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلْكُتُبِ ۚ كَمَا بَدَأْنَآ أَوَّلَ خَلْقٍ نُّعِيدُهُۥ ۚ وَعْدًا عَلَيْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَٰعِلِينَ ١٠٤
Yawma natwee assamaakatayyi assijlli lilkutubi kama bada/naawwala khalqin nuAAeeduhu waAAdan AAalayna innakunna faAAileen
QaraiThe day We shall roll up the heaven, like rolling of the scrolls [meant] for writings. We will bring it back just as We began the first creation—a promise [binding] on Us. [That] indeed We will do.
Saheeh InternationalThe Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.
-
21:105
وَلَقَدْ كَتَبْنَا فِى ٱلزَّبُورِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلذِّكْرِ أَنَّ ٱلْأَرْضَ يَرِثُهَا عِبَادِىَ ٱلصَّٰلِحُونَ ١٠٥
Walaqad katabna fee azzaboorimin baAAdi aththikri anna al-arda yarithuhaAAibadiya assalihoon
QaraiCertainly We wrote in the Psalms, after the Torah: ‘Indeed My righteous servants shall inherit the earth.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.
-
21:106
إِنَّ فِى هَٰذَا لَبَلَٰغًا لِّقَوْمٍ عَٰبِدِينَ ١٠٦
Inna fee hatha labalaghanliqawmin AAabideen
QaraiThere is indeed in this a proclamation for a devout people.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, in this [Qur’ān] is notification for a worshipping people.
-
21:107
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٠٧
Wama arsalnaka illa rahmatanlilAAalameen
QaraiWe did not send you but as a mercy to all the nations.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
-
21:108
قُلْ إِنَّمَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ ١٠٨
Qul innama yooha ilayya annamailahukum ilahun wahidun fahal antummuslimoon
QaraiSay, ‘It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God. So will you submit?’
Saheeh InternationalSay, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?"
-
21:109
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقُلْ ءَاذَنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَآءٍ ۖ وَإِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌ أَم بَعِيدٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ ١٠٩
Fa-in tawallaw faqul athantukum AAalasawa-in wa-in adree aqareebun am baAAeedun matooAAadoon
QaraiBut if they turn away, say, ‘I have proclaimed to you all alike, and I do not know whether what you have been promised is far or near.
Saheeh InternationalBut if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally. And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised.
-
21:110
إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْتُمُونَ ١١٠
Innahu yaAAlamu aljahra mina alqawliwayaAAlamu ma taktumoon
QaraiIndeed He knows whatever is spoken aloud, and He knows whatever you conceal.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, He knows what is declared of speech, and He knows what you conceal.
-
21:111
وَإِنْ أَدْرِى لَعَلَّهُۥ فِتْنَةٌ لَّكُمْ وَمَتَٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ ١١١
Wa-in adree laAAallahu fitnatun lakum wamataAAunila heen
QaraiI do not know—maybe it is a trial for you and an enjoyment for a while.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd I know not; perhaps it is a trial for you and enjoyment for a time."

21:112
قَٰلَ رَبِّ ٱحْكُم بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَرَبُّنَا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ ١١٢
Qala rabbi ohkum bilhaqqiwarabbuna arrahmanu almustaAAanuAAala ma tasifoon
QaraiHe said, ‘My Lord! Judge [between us and the polytheists] with justice.’ ‘Our Lord is the All-beneficent; [He is our] resort against what you allege.’
Saheeh International[The Prophet (ﷺ)] has said, "My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe."
