An-Naml · The Ant
93 verses · Revealed in Makkah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
27:1
طسٓ ۚ تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ وَكِتَابٍ مُّبِينٍ ١
Ta-seen tilka ayatualqur-ani wakitabin mubeen
QaraiTa, Seen. These are the signs of the Quran and a manifest Book,
Saheeh InternationalṬā, Seen. These are the verses of the Qur’ān [i.e., recitation] and a clear Book
-
27:2
هُدًى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٢
Hudan wabushra lilmu/mineen
Qaraia guidance and good news for the faithful
Saheeh InternationalAs guidance and good tidings for the believers
-
27:3
ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ ٣
Allatheena yuqeemoona assalatawayu/toona azzakata wahum bil-akhiratihum yooqinoon
Qarai—those who maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and who are certain of the Hereafter.
Saheeh InternationalWho establish prayer and give zakāh, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith].

27:4
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُونَ ٤
Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabil-akhirati zayyanna lahum aAAmalahumfahum yaAAmahoon
QaraiAs for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds seem decorous to them, and so they are bewildered.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made pleasing to them their deeds, so they wander blindly.

27:5
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَهُمْ فِى ٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ ٥
Ola-ika allatheena lahum soo-oalAAathabi wahum fee al-akhirati humu al-akhsaroon
QaraiThey are the ones for whom there is a terrible punishment, and they are the ones who will be the biggest losers in the Hereafter.
Saheeh InternationalThose are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers.

27:6
وَإِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى ٱلْقُرْءَانَ مِن لَّدُنْ حَكِيمٍ عَلِيمٍ ٦
Wa-innaka latulaqqa alqur-anamin ladun hakeemin AAaleem
QaraiIndeed you receive the Quran from One who is all-wise, all-knowing.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, [O Muḥammad], you receive the Qur’ān from one Wise and Knowing.

27:7
إِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَهْلِهِۦٓ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًا سََٔاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ ءَاتِيكُم بِشِهَابٍ قَبَسٍ لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ ٧
Ith qala moosa li-ahlihiinnee anastu naran saateekum minhabikhabarin aw ateekum bishihabin qabasinlaAAallakum tastaloon
QaraiWhen Moses said to his family, ‘Indeed I descry a fire! I will bring you some news from it, or bring you a firebrand so that you may warm yourselves.’
Saheeh International[Mention] when Moses said to his family, "Indeed, I have perceived a fire. I will bring you from there information or will bring you a burning torch that you may warm yourselves."

27:8
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهَا نُودِىَ أَنۢ بُورِكَ مَن فِى ٱلنَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٨
Falamma jaaha noodiya anboorika man fee annari waman hawlahawasubhana Allahi rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiWhen he came to it, he was called: ‘Blessed is He who is in the fire and who is [as well] around it, and immaculate is Allah, the Lord of all the worlds!’
Saheeh InternationalBut when he came to it, he was called, "Blessed is whoever is at the fire and whoever is around it. And exalted is Allāh, Lord of the worlds.

27:9
يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٩
Ya moosa innahu ana AllahualAAazeezu alhakeem
Qarai‘O Moses! Indeed I am Allah, the All-mighty, the All-wise.’
Saheeh InternationalO Moses, indeed it is I - Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

27:10
وَأَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنٌّ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ ۚ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفْ إِنِّى لَا يَخَافُ لَدَىَّ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ ١٠
Waalqi AAasaka falamma raahatahtazzu kaannaha jannun walla mudbiranwalam yuAAaqqib ya moosa la takhaf innee layakhafu ladayya almursaloon
Qarai‘Throw down your staff!’ When he saw it wriggling, as if it were a snake, he turned his back [to flee], without looking back. ‘O Moses! ‘Do not be afraid. Indeed the apostles are not afraid before Me,
Saheeh InternationalAnd [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it were a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allāh said], "O Moses, fear not. Indeed, in My presence the messengers do not fear.

27:11
إِلَّا مَن ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسْنًۢا بَعْدَ سُوٓءٍ فَإِنِّى غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ١١
Illa man thalama thummabaddala husnan baAAda soo-in fa-innee ghafoorun raheem
Qarainor those who do wrong and then make up for [their] fault with goodness, for indeed I am all-forgiving, all-merciful.’
Saheeh InternationalOtherwise, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil - indeed, I am Forgiving and Merciful.

27:12
وَأَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِى جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٍ ۖ فِى تِسْعِ ءَايَٰتٍ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا فَٰسِقِينَ ١٢
Waadkhil yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaamin ghayri soo-in fee tisAAi ayatin ilafirAAawna waqawmihi innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeen
Qarai‘Insert your hand into your shirt. It will emerge white and bright, without any fault—among nine signs meant for Pharaoh and his people. Indeed they are a transgressing lot.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient."

27:13
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا مُبْصِرَةً قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ ١٣
Falamma jaat-hum ayatunamubsiratan qaloo hatha sihrun mubeen
QaraiBut when Our signs came to them, as eye-openers, they said, ‘This is plain magic.’
Saheeh InternationalBut when there came to them Our visible signs, they said, "This is obvious magic."

27:14
وَجَحَدُوا۟ بِهَا وَٱسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآ أَنفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا ۚ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ ١٤
Wajahadoo biha wastayqanat-haanfusuhum thulman waAAuluwwan fanthurkayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideen
QaraiThey impugned them, wrongfully and out of arrogance, though they were convinced in their hearts [of their veracity]. So observe how the fate of the agents of corruption was!
Saheeh InternationalAnd they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness. So see how was the end of the corrupters.

27:15
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ عِلْمًا ۖ وَقَالَا ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِّنْ عِبَادِهِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٥
Walaqad atayna dawoodawasulaymana AAilman waqala alhamdulillahi allathee faddalana AAalakatheerin min AAibadihi almu/mineen
QaraiCertainly, We gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and they said, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, who granted us an advantage over many of His faithful servants.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allāh, who has favored us over many of His believing servants."

27:16
وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمَٰنُ دَاوُۥدَ ۖ وَقَالَ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا مَنطِقَ ٱلطَّيْرِ وَأُوتِينَا مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَضْلُ ٱلْمُبِينُ ١٦
Wawaritha sulaymanu dawoodawaqala ya ayyuha annasuAAullimna mantiqa attayri waooteenamin kulli shay-in inna hatha lahuwa alfadlualmubeen
QaraiSolomon inherited from David, and he said, ‘O people! We have been taught the speech of the birds, and we have been given out of everything. Indeed this is a manifest advantage.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd Solomon inherited David. He said, "O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty."

27:17
وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَٰنَ جُنُودُهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ وَٱلطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ ١٧
Wahushira lisulaymanajunooduhu mina aljinni wal-insi wattayrifahum yoozaAAoon
Qarai[Once] Solomon’s hosts were marched out for him, comprising jinn, humans and birds, and they were held in check.
Saheeh InternationalAnd gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows
-
27:18
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ وَادِ ٱلنَّمْلِ قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّمْلُ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ مَسَٰكِنَكُمْ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَٰنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ١٨
Hatta itha ataw AAalawadi annamli qalat namlatun ya ayyuhaannamlu odkhuloo masakinakum la yahtimannakumsulaymanu wajunooduhu wahum la yashAAuroon
QaraiWhen they came to the Valley of Ants, an ant said, ‘O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Solomon and his hosts should trample on you while they are unaware.’
Saheeh InternationalUntil, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not."

27:19
فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكًا مِّن قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِىٓ أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَىَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَٰلِحًا تَرْضَىٰهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِى بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِى عِبَادِكَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ١٩
Fatabassama dahikan min qawlihawaqala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allateeanAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihantardahu waadkhilnee birahmatika fee AAibadikaassaliheen
QaraiWhereat he smiled, amused at its words, and he said, ‘My Lord! Inspire me to give thanks for Your blessing with which You have blessed me and my parents, and that I may do righteous deeds which please You, and admit me, by Your mercy, among Your righteous servants.’
Saheeh InternationalSo [Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants."

27:20
وَتَفَقَّدَ ٱلطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَا لِىَ لَآ أَرَى ٱلْهُدْهُدَ أَمْ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْغَآئِبِينَ ٢٠
Watafaqqada attayra faqalama liya la ara alhudhuda am kana minaalgha-ibeen
Qarai[One day] he reviewed the birds, and said, ‘Why do I not see the hoopoe? Or is he absent?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd he took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe - or is he among the absent?
-
27:21
لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُۥ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا أَوْ لَأَا۟ذْبَحَنَّهُۥٓ أَوْ لَيَأْتِيَنِّى بِسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ ٢١
LaoAAaththibannahu AAathabanshadeedan aw laathbahannahu aw laya/tiyannee bisultaninmubeen
Qarai‘I will punish him with a severe punishment, or I will behead him, unless he brings me a credible excuse.’
Saheeh InternationalI will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization."

27:22
فَمَكَثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ أَحَطتُ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِۦ وَجِئْتُكَ مِن سَبَإٍۭ بِنَبَإٍ يَقِينٍ ٢٢
Famakatha ghayra baAAeedin faqala ahattubima lam tuhit bihi waji/tuka min saba-inbinaba-in yaqeen
QaraiHe did not stay for long [before he turned up] and said, ‘I have alighted on something which you have not alighted on, and I have brought you from Sheba a definite report.
Saheeh InternationalBut he [i.e., the hoopoe] stayed not long and said, "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Sheba with certain news.

27:23
إِنِّى وَجَدتُّ ٱمْرَأَةً تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَأُوتِيَتْ مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيمٌ ٢٣
Innee wajadtu imraatan tamlikuhum waootiyatmin kulli shay-in walaha AAarshun AAatheem
QaraiI found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given everything, and she has a great throne.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I found [there] a woman ruling them, and she has been given of all things, and she has a great throne.
-
27:24
وَجَدتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ ٢٤
Wajadtuha waqawmaha yasjudoonalishshamsi min dooni Allahi wazayyana lahumu ashshaytanuaAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani assabeeli fahumla yahtadoon
QaraiI found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah, and Satan has made their deeds seem decorous to them—thus he has barred them from the way [of Allah], so they are not guided—
Saheeh InternationalI found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allāh, and Satan has made their deeds pleasing to them and averted them from [His] way, so they are not guided,
-
27:25
أَلَّا يَسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى يُخْرِجُ ٱلْخَبْءَ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُخْفُونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ ٢٥
Alla yasjudoo lillahi allatheeyukhriju alkhabaa fee assamawati wal-ardiwayaAAlamu ma tukhfoona wama tuAAlinoon
Qaraiso that they do not prostrate themselves to Allah, who brings forth the hidden in the heavens and the earth, and He knows whatever you hide and whatever you disclose.
Saheeh International[And] so they do not prostrate to Allāh, who brings forth what is hidden within the heavens and the earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare -
-
27:26
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ۩ ٢٦
Allahu la ilaha illahuwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheem
QaraiAllah—there is no god except Him—is the Lord of the Great Throne.’
Saheeh InternationalAllāh - there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Great Throne."
-
27:27
۞ قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ ٢٧
Qala sananthuru asadaqtaam kunta mina alkathibeen
QaraiHe said, ‘We shall see whether you are truthful, or if you are one of the liars.
Saheeh International[Solomon] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars.
-
27:28
ٱذْهَب بِّكِتَٰبِى هَٰذَا فَأَلْقِهْ إِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُونَ ٢٨
Ithhab bikitabee hathafaalqih ilayhim thumma tawalla AAanhum fanthurmatha yarjiAAoon
QaraiTake this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then draw away from them and observe what [response] they return.’
Saheeh InternationalTake this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer] they will return."
-
27:29
قَالَتْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ إِنِّىٓ أُلْقِىَ إِلَىَّ كِتَٰبٌ كَرِيمٌ ٢٩
Qalat ya ayyuha almalaoinnee olqiya ilayya kitabun kareem
QaraiShe said, ‘O [members of the] elite! Indeed a noble letter has been delivered to me.
Saheeh InternationalShe said, "O eminent ones, indeed, to me has been delivered a noble letter.
-
27:30
إِنَّهُۥ مِن سُلَيْمَٰنَ وَإِنَّهُۥ بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٣٠
Innahu min sulaymana wa-innahu bismiAllahi arrahmani arraheem
QaraiIt is from Solomon, and it begins in the name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed, it is [i.e., reads]: 'In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,
-
27:31
أَلَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَىَّ وَأْتُونِى مُسْلِمِينَ ٣١
Alla taAAloo AAalayya wa/tooneemuslimeen
Qarai[It states,] ‘‘Do not defy me, and come to me in submission.’’ ’
Saheeh InternationalBe not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims].'"

27:32
قَالَتْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ أَفْتُونِى فِىٓ أَمْرِى مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمْرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشْهَدُونِ ٣٢
Qalat ya ayyuha almalaoaftoonee fee amree ma kuntu qatiAAatan amran hattatashhadoon
QaraiShe said, ‘O [members of the] elite! Give me your opinion concerning my matter. I do not decide any matter until you are present.’
Saheeh InternationalShe said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair. I would not decide a matter until you witness [for] me."
-
27:33
قَالُوا۟ نَحْنُ أُو۟لُوا۟ قُوَّةٍ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ وَٱلْأَمْرُ إِلَيْكِ فَٱنظُرِى مَاذَا تَأْمُرِينَ ٣٣
Qaloo nahnu oloo quwwatinwaoloo ba/sin shadeedin wal-amru ilayki fanthureematha ta/mureen
QaraiThey said, ‘We are powerful and possess a great might. But it is up to you to command. So consider what orders you will give.’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command."

27:34
قَالَتْ إِنَّ ٱلْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُوا۟ قَرْيَةً أَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوٓا۟ أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَآ أَذِلَّةً ۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ ٣٤
Qalat inna almulooka ithadakhaloo qaryatan afsadooha wajaAAaloo aAAizzata ahlihaathillatan wakathalika yafAAaloon
QaraiShe said, ‘Indeed when kings enter a town, they devastate it, and make the mightiest of its people the weakest. That is how they act.
Saheeh InternationalShe said, "Indeed kings - when they enter a city, they ruin it and render the honored of its people humbled. And thus do they do.
-
27:35
وَإِنِّى مُرْسِلَةٌ إِلَيْهِم بِهَدِيَّةٍ فَنَاظِرَةٌۢ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ ٣٥
Wa-innee mursilatun ilayhim bihadiyyatin fanathiratunbima yarjiAAu almursaloon
QaraiI will send them a gift, and see what the envoys bring back.’
Saheeh InternationalBut indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return."
-
27:36
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٍ فَمَآ ءَاتَىٰنِۦَ ٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّآ ءَاتَىٰكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ ٣٦
Falamma jaa sulaymana qalaatumiddoonani bimalin fama ataniyaAllahu khayrun mimma atakum bal antumbihadiyyatikum tafrahoon
QaraiSo when he came to Solomon, he said, ‘Are you aiding me with wealth? What Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Indeed, you are proud of your gift!
Saheeh InternationalSo when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allāh has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift.
-
27:37
ٱرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمْ فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُم بِجُنُودٍ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُم بِهَا وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم مِّنْهَآ أَذِلَّةً وَهُمْ صَٰغِرُونَ ٣٧
IrjiAA ilayhim falana/tiyannahum bijunoodinla qibala lahum biha walanukhrijannahum minhaathillatan wahum saghiroon
QaraiGo back to them, for we will come at them with hosts which they cannot face, and we will expel them from it, abased and degraded.’
Saheeh InternationalReturn to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased."

27:38
قَالَ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ أَيُّكُمْ يَأْتِينِى بِعَرْشِهَا قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتُونِى مُسْلِمِينَ ٣٨
Qala ya ayyuha almalaoayyukum ya/teenee biAAarshiha qabla an ya/toonee muslimeen
QaraiHe said, ‘O [members of the] elite! Which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?’
Saheeh International[Solomon] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"

27:39
قَالَ عِفْرِيتٌ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ أَنَا۠ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن تَقُومَ مِن مَّقَامِكَ ۖ وَإِنِّى عَلَيْهِ لَقَوِىٌّ أَمِينٌ ٣٩
Qala AAifreetun mina aljinni anaateeka bihi qabla an taqooma min maqamika wa-inneAAalayhi laqawiyyun ameen
QaraiAn afreet from among the jinn said, ‘I will bring it to you before you rise from your place. I have the power to do it and am trustworthy.’
Saheeh InternationalA powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy."

27:40
قَالَ ٱلَّذِى عِندَهُۥ عِلْمٌ مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أَنَا۠ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن يَرْتَدَّ إِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهُ مُسْتَقِرًّا عِندَهُۥ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّى لِيَبْلُوَنِىٓ ءَأَشْكُرُ أَمْ أَكْفُرُ ۖ وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّى غَنِىٌّ كَرِيمٌ ٤٠
Qala allathee AAindahu AAilmunmina alkitabi ana ateeka bihi qabla anyartadda ilayka tarfuka falamma raahumustaqirran AAindahu qala hatha min fadlirabbee liyabluwanee aashkuru am akfuru waman shakara fa-innamayashkuru linafsihi waman kafara fa-inna rabbee ghaniyyun kareem
QaraiThe one who had knowledge of the Book said, ‘I will bring it to you in the twinkling of an eye.’ So when he saw it set near him, he said, ‘This is by the grace of my Lord, to test me if I will give thanks or be ungrateful. Whoever gives thanks, gives thanks only for his own sake. And whoever is ungrateful [should know that] my Lord is indeed all-sufficient, all-generous.’
Saheeh InternationalSaid one who had knowledge from the Scripture, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you." And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful - his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever is ungrateful - then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous."

27:41
قَالَ نَكِّرُوا۟ لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنظُرْ أَتَهْتَدِىٓ أَمْ تَكُونُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ ٤١
Qala nakkiroo laha AAarshahananthur atahtadee am takoonu mina allatheenala yahtadoon
QaraiHe said, ‘Disguise her throne for her, so that we may see whether she is discerning or if she is one of the undiscerning ones.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Disguise for her her throne; we will see whether she will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided."

27:42
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ قِيلَ أَهَٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِ ۖ قَالَتْ كَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ ۚ وَأُوتِينَا ٱلْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِينَ ٤٢
Falamma jaat qeela ahakathaAAarshuki qalat kaannahu huwa waooteena alAAilmamin qabliha wakunna muslimeen
QaraiSo when she came, it was said [to her], ‘Is your throne like this one?’ She said, ‘It seems to be the same, and we were informed before it, and we had submitted.’
Saheeh InternationalSo when she arrived, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" She said, "[It is] as though it was it." [Solomon said], "And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been Muslims [in submission to Allāh].

27:43
وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِن قَوْمٍ كَٰفِرِينَ ٤٣
Wasaddaha ma kanattaAAbudu min dooni Allahi innaha kanat minqawmin kafireen
QaraiShe had been barred [from the way of Allah] by what she used to worship besides Allah, for she belonged to a faithless people.
Saheeh InternationalAnd that which she was worshipping other than Allāh had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people."

27:44
قِيلَ لَهَا ٱدْخُلِى ٱلصَّرْحَ ۖ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَكَشَفَتْ عَن سَاقَيْهَا ۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّن قَوَارِيرَ ۗ قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّى ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِى وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٤٤
Qeela laha odkhulee assarhafalamma raat-hu hasibat-hu lujjatan wakashafat AAansaqayha qala innahu sarhunmumarradun min qawareera qalat rabbi innee thalamtunafsee waaslamtu maAAa sulaymana lillahi rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiIt was said to her, ‘Enter the palace.’ So when she saw it, she supposed it to be a pool of water, and she bared her shanks. He said, ‘It is a palace paved with crystal.’ She said, ‘My Lord! Indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.’
Saheeh InternationalShe was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allāh, Lord of the worlds."

27:45
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَٰلِحًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَانِ يَخْتَصِمُونَ ٤٥
Walaqad arsalna ila thamoodaakhahum salihan ani oAAbudoo Allahafa-itha hum fareeqani yakhtasimoon
QaraiCertainly We sent to Thamud Salih, their brother, [with the summons:] ‘Worship Allah!’ But thereat they became two groups contending with each other.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We had certainly sent to Thamūd their brother Ṣāliḥ, [saying], "Worship Allāh," and at once they were two parties conflicting.

27:46
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ ۖ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ ٤٦
Qala ya qawmi limatastaAAjiloona bissayyi-ati qabla alhasanati lawlatastaghfiroona Allaha laAAallakum turhamoon
QaraiHe said, ‘O My people! Why do you press for evil sooner than for good? Why do you not plead to Allah for forgiveness so that you may receive His mercy?’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil before [i.e., instead of] good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allāh that you may receive mercy?"

27:47
قَالُوا۟ ٱطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَ ۚ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُونَ ٤٧
Qaloo ittayyarna bikawabiman maAAaka qala ta-irukum AAinda Allahibal antum qawmun tuftanoon
QaraiThey said, ‘We take you and those who are with you for a bad omen.’ He said, ‘Your bad omens are from Allah. Indeed, you are a people being tested.’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen [i.e., fate] is with Allāh. Rather, you are a people being tested."

27:48
وَكَانَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ ٤٨
Wakana fee almadeenati tisAAatu rahtinyufsidoona fee al-ardi wala yuslihoon
QaraiThere were nine persons in the city who caused corruption in the land and did not set things right.
Saheeh InternationalAnd there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs].
-
27:49
قَالُوا۟ تَقَاسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ ٤٩
Qaloo taqasamoo billahilanubayyitannahu waahlahu thumma lanaqoolanna liwaliyyihi mashahidna mahlika ahlihi wa-inna lasadiqoon
QaraiThey said, ‘Swear by Allah that we will attack him and his family by night. Then we will tell his heir that we were not present at the murder of his family and that we speak the truth.’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Take a mutual oath by Allāh that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.'"
-
27:50
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ٥٠
Wamakaroo makran wamakarna makranwahum la yashAAuroon
QaraiThey devised a plot, and We [too] devised a plan, but they were not aware.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not.
-
27:51
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٥١
Fanthur kayfa kanaAAaqibatu makrihim anna dammarnahumwaqawmahum ajmaAAeen
QaraiSo observe how was the outcome of their plotting, as We destroyed them and all their people.
Saheeh InternationalThen look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all.
-
27:52
فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةًۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ ٥٢
Fatilka buyootuhum khawiyatan bimathalamoo inna fee thalika laayatanliqawmin yaAAlamoon
QaraiSo there lay their houses, fallen in ruin because of their wrongdoing. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who have knowledge.
Saheeh InternationalSo those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know.

27:53
وَأَنجَيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ ٥٣
Waanjayna allatheena amanoowakanoo yattaqoon
QaraiAnd We delivered those who had faith and were Godwary.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We saved those who believed and used to fear Allāh.
-
27:54
وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ ٥٤
Walootan ith qalaliqawmihi ata/toona alfahishata waantum tubsiroon
Qarai[We also sent] Lot, when he said to his people, ‘What! Do you commit this indecency while you look on?
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing?
-
27:55
أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ ٥٥
A-innakum lata/toona arrijalashahwatan min dooni annisa-i bal antum qawmuntajhaloon
QaraiDo you approach men with [sexual] desire instead of women?! Indeed, you are a senseless lot!’
Saheeh InternationalDo you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly."
-
27:56
۞ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ أَخْرِجُوٓا۟ ءَالَ لُوطٍ مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ ٥٦
Fama kana jawabaqawmihi illa an qaloo akhrijoo ala lootinmin qaryatikum innahum onasun yatatahharoon
QaraiBut the only answer of his people was that they said, ‘Expel Lot’s family from your town! They are indeed a puritanical lot.’
Saheeh InternationalBut the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure."

27:57
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَٰهَا مِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ ٥٧
Faanjaynahu waahlahu illaimraatahu qaddarnaha mina alghabireen
QaraiSo We delivered him and his family, except his wife. We ordained her to be among those who remained behind.
Saheeh InternationalSo We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who remained behind.
-
27:58
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ٥٨
Waamtarna AAalayhim mataranfasaa mataru almunthareen
QaraiThen We poured down upon them a rain [of stones]. Evil was that rain for those who had been warned!
Saheeh InternationalAnd We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
-
27:59
قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصْطَفَىٰٓ ۗ ءَآللَّهُ خَيْرٌ أَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ٥٩
Quli alhamdu lillahi wasalamunAAala AAibadihi allatheena istafaallahu khayrun amma yushrikoon
QaraiSay, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, and Peace be to the servants whom He has chosen.’ Is Allah better, or the partners they ascribe [to Him]?
Saheeh InternationalSay, [O Muḥammad], "Praise be to Allāh, and peace upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is Allāh better or what they associate with Him?"
-
27:60
أَمَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَنۢبَتْنَا بِهِۦ حَدَآئِقَ ذَاتَ بَهْجَةٍ مَّا كَانَ لَكُمْ أَن تُنۢبِتُوا۟ شَجَرَهَآ ۗ أَءِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ يَعْدِلُونَ ٦٠
Amman khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda waanzala lakum mina assama-imaan faanbatna bihi hada-iqa thatabahjatin ma kana lakum an tunbitoo shajarahaa-ilahun maAAa Allahi bal hum qawmun yaAAdiloon
QaraiIs He who created the heavens and the earth, and sends down for you water from the sky, whereby We grow delightful gardens, whose trees you could never cause to grow...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Indeed, they are a lot who equate [others with Allah].
Saheeh International[More precisely], is He [not best] who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you rain from the sky, causing to grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty which you could not [otherwise] have grown the trees thereof? Is there a deity with Allāh? [No], but they are a people who ascribe equals [to Him].
-
27:61
أَمَّن جَعَلَ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَجَعَلَ خِلَٰلَهَآ أَنْهَٰرًا وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزًا ۗ أَءِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٦١
Amman jaAAala al-arda qararanwajaAAala khilalaha anharan wajaAAala laharawasiya wajaAAala bayna albahrayni hajizana-ilahun maAAa Allahi bal aktharuhum layaAAlamoon
QaraiIs He who made the earth an abode [for you], and made rivers [flowing] through it, and set firm mountains for it [’s stability], and set a barrier between the two seas...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Indeed, most of them do not know.
Saheeh InternationalIs He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allāh? [No], but most of them do not know.
-
27:62
أَمَّن يُجِيبُ ٱلْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَءِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ٦٢
Amman yujeebu almudtarra ithadaAAahu wayakshifu assoo-a wayajAAalukum khulafaaal-ardi a-ilahun maAAa Allahi qaleelan matathakkaroon
QaraiIs He who answers the call of the distressed [person] when he invokes Him and removes his distress, and makes you successors on the earth...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Little is the admonition that you take.
Saheeh InternationalIs He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allāh? Little do you remember.
-
27:63
أَمَّن يَهْدِيكُمْ فِى ظُلُمَٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ وَمَن يُرْسِلُ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ بُشْرًۢا بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَحْمَتِهِۦٓ ۗ أَءِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ تَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ٦٣
Amman yahdeekum fee thulumatialbarri walbahri waman yursilu arriyahabushran bayna yaday rahmatihi a-ilahun maAAa AllahitaAAala Allahu AAamma yushrikoon
QaraiIs He who guides you in the darkness of land and sea and who sends the winds as harbingers of His mercy...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Exalted is Allah above [having] any partners that they ascribe [to Him].
Saheeh InternationalIs He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allāh? High is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.
-
27:64
أَمَّن يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ وَمَن يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَءِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ ٦٤
Amman yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhuwaman yarzuqukum mina assama-i wal-ardia-ilahun maAAa Allahi qul hatoo burhanakumin kuntum sadiqeen
QaraiIs He who originates the creation, then He will bring it back, and who provides for you from the sky and the earth...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Say, ‘Produce your evidence, if you are truthful.’
Saheeh InternationalIs He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allāh? Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."
-
27:65
قُل لَّا يَعْلَمُ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْغَيْبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ ٦٥
Qul la yaAAlamu man fee assamawatiwal-ardi alghayba illa Allahu wamayashAAuroona ayyana yubAAathoon
QaraiSay, ‘No one in the heavens or the earth knows the Unseen except Allah, and they are not aware when they will be resurrected.’
Saheeh InternationalSay, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allāh, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected."
-
27:66
بَلِ ٱدَّٰرَكَ عِلْمُهُمْ فِى ٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهَا ۖ بَلْ هُم مِّنْهَا عَمُونَ ٦٦
Bali iddaraka AAilmuhum fee al-akhiratibal hum fee shakkin minha bal hum minha AAamoon
QaraiDo they comprehend the knowledge of the Hereafter? No, they are in doubt about it. Indeed, they are blind to it.
Saheeh InternationalRather, their knowledge is arrested concerning the Hereafter. Rather, they are in doubt about it. Rather, they are, concerning it, blind.
-
27:67
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا كُنَّا تُرَٰبًا وَءَابَآؤُنَآ أَئِنَّا لَمُخْرَجُونَ ٦٧
Waqala allatheena kafaroo a-ithakunna turaban waabaona a-innalamukhrajoon
QaraiThe faithless say, ‘What! When we and our fathers have become dust shall we be raised [from the dead]?
Saheeh InternationalAnd those who disbelieve say, "When we have become dust as well as our forefathers, will we indeed be brought out [of the graves]?
-
27:68
لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا هَٰذَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٦٨
Laqad wuAAidna hatha nahnuwaabaona min qablu in hatha illaasateeru al-awwaleen
QaraiWe and our fathers were promised this before. [But] these are just myths of the ancients.’
Saheeh InternationalWe have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before. This is not but legends of the former peoples."
-
27:69
قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ٦٩
Qul seeroo fee al-ardi fanthurookayfa kana AAaqibatu almujrimeen
QaraiSay, ‘Travel over the land and observe how was the fate of the guilty.’
Saheeh InternationalSay, [O Muḥammad], "Proceed [i.e., travel] through the land and observe how was the end of the criminals."
-
27:70
وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُن فِى ضَيْقٍ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَ ٧٠
Wala tahzan AAalayhim walatakun fee dayqin mimma yamkuroon
QaraiDo not grieve for them, and do not be upset by their guile.
Saheeh InternationalAnd grieve not over them or be in distress from what they conspire.

27:71
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ ٧١
Wayaqooloona mata hathaalwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeen
QaraiThey say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?"
-
27:72
قُلْ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُم بَعْضُ ٱلَّذِى تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ ٧٢
Qul AAasa an yakoona radifa lakumbaAAdu allathee tastaAAjiloon
QaraiSay, ‘Perhaps there is right behind you some of what you seek to hasten.’
Saheeh InternationalSay, "Perhaps it is close behind you [i.e., very near] - some of that for which you are impatient.
-
27:73
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ ٧٣
Wa-inna rabbaka lathoo fadlinAAala annasi walakinna aktharahum layashkuroon
QaraiIndeed your Lord is gracious to mankind, but most of them do not give thanks.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord is the possessor of bounty for the people, but most of them are not grateful."
-
27:74
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ٧٤
Wa-inna rabbaka layaAAlamu ma tukinnusudooruhum wama yuAAlinoon
QaraiYour Lord knows whatever their breasts conceal, and whatever they disclose.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare.
-
27:75
وَمَا مِنْ غَآئِبَةٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا فِى كِتَٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ ٧٥
Wama min gha-ibatin fee assama-iwal-ardi illa fee kitabin mubeen
QaraiThere is no invisible thing in the heaven and the earth but it is in a manifest Book.
Saheeh InternationalAnd there is nothing concealed within the heaven and the earth except that it is in a clear Register.

27:76
إِنَّ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ يَقُصُّ عَلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَكْثَرَ ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ ٧٦
Inna hatha alqur-ana yaqussuAAala banee isra-eela akthara allathee humfeehi yakhtalifoon
QaraiThis Quran recounts for the Children of Israel most of what they differ about,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, this Qur’ān relates to the Children of Israel most of that over which they disagree.
-
27:77
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٧٧
Wa-innahu lahudan warahmatunlilmu/mineen
Qaraiand it is indeed a guidance and mercy for the faithful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it is guidance and mercy for the believers.
-
27:78
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِى بَيْنَهُم بِحُكْمِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٧٨
Inna rabbaka yaqdee baynahum bihukmihiwahuwa alAAazeezu alAAaleem
QaraiYour Lord will decide between them by His judgement, and He is the All-mighty, the All-knowing.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, your Lord will judge between them by His [wise] judgement. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.
-
27:79
فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَى ٱلْحَقِّ ٱلْمُبِينِ ٧٩
Fatawakkal AAala Allahi innakaAAala alhaqqi almubeen
QaraiSo put your trust in Allah, for you indeed stand on the manifest truth.
Saheeh InternationalSo rely upon Allāh; indeed, you are upon the clear truth.
-
27:80
إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَلَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا وَلَّوْا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ ٨٠
Innaka la tusmiAAu almawta walatusmiAAu assumma adduAAaa ithawallaw mudbireen
QaraiYou cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf listen to your call when they turn their backs,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating.
-
27:81
وَمَآ أَنتَ بِهَٰدِى ٱلْعُمْىِ عَن ضَلَٰلَتِهِمْ ۖ إِن تُسْمِعُ إِلَّا مَن يُؤْمِنُ بَِٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُم مُّسْلِمُونَ ٨١
Wama anta bihadee alAAumyiAAan dalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa manyu/minu bi-ayatina fahum muslimoon
Qarainor can you lead the blind out of their error. You can make only those hear you who believe in Our signs and have submitted.
Saheeh InternationalAnd you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [i.e., submitting to Allāh].
-
27:82
۞ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَآبَّةً مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ كَانُوا۟ بَِٔايَٰتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَ ٨٢
Wa-itha waqaAAa alqawlu AAalayhimakhrajna lahum dabbatan mina al-arditukallimuhum anna annasa kanoo bi-ayatinala yooqinoon
QaraiWhen the word [of judgement] falls upon them, We shall bring out for them an Animal from the earth who shall tell them that the people had no faith in Our signs.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the word [i.e., decree] befalls them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, [saying] that the people were, of Our verses, not certain [in faith].
-
27:83
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ فَوْجًا مِّمَّن يُكَذِّبُ بَِٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ ٨٣
Wayawma nahshuru min kulli ommatinfawjan mimman yukaththibu bi-ayatinafahum yoozaAAoon
QaraiOn that day We shall resurrect from every nation a group of those who denied Our signs, and they will be held in check.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [warn of] the Day when We will gather from every nation a company of those who deny Our signs, and they will be [driven] in rows
-
27:84
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُو قَالَ أَكَذَّبْتُم بَِٔايَٰتِى وَلَمْ تُحِيطُوا۟ بِهَا عِلْمًا أَمَّاذَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٨٤
Hatta itha jaooqala akaththabtum bi-ayatee walam tuheetoobiha AAilman ammatha kuntum taAAmaloon
QaraiWhen they come, He will say, ‘Did you deny My signs without comprehending them in knowledge? What was it that you used to do?’
Saheeh InternationalUntil, when they arrive [at the place of Judgement], He will say, "Did you deny My signs while you encompassed them not in knowledge, or what [was it that] you were doing?"
-
27:85
وَوَقَعَ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِم بِمَا ظَلَمُوا۟ فَهُمْ لَا يَنطِقُونَ ٨٥
WawaqaAAa alqawlu AAalayhim bima thalamoofahum la yantiqoon
QaraiAnd the word [of judgement] shall fall upon them for their wrongdoing, and they will not speak.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the decree will befall them for the wrong they did, and they will not [be able to] speak.
-
27:86
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِيَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ٨٦
Alam yaraw anna jaAAalnaallayla liyaskunoo feehi wannahara mubsiraninna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yu/minoon
QaraiDo they not see that We made the night that they may rest in it, and the day to provide visibility. There are indeed signs in that for a people who have faith.
Saheeh InternationalDo they not see that We made the night that they may rest therein and the day giving sight? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
-
27:87
وَيَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَفَزِعَ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَكُلٌّ أَتَوْهُ دَٰخِرِينَ ٨٧
Wayawma yunfakhu fee assoorifafaziAAa man fee assamawati waman feeal-ardi illa man shaa Allahu wakullunatawhu dakhireen
QaraiThe day when the trumpet is blown, whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified, except such as Allah wishes, and all will come to Him in utter humility.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [warn of] the Day the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified except whom Allāh wills. And all will come to Him humbled.
-
27:88
وَتَرَى ٱلْجِبَالَ تَحْسَبُهَا جَامِدَةً وَهِىَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ ٱلسَّحَابِ ۚ صُنْعَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَتْقَنَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَفْعَلُونَ ٨٨
Watara aljibala tahsabuhajamidatan wahiya tamurru marra assahabi sunAAaAllahi allathee atqana kulla shay-in innahukhabeerun bima tafAAaloon
QaraiYou see the mountains, which you suppose, to be stationary, while they drift like passing clouds—the handiwork of Allah who has made everything faultless. He is indeed well aware of what you do.
Saheeh InternationalAnd you see the mountains, thinking them motionless, while they will pass as the passing of clouds. [It is] the work of Allāh, who perfected all things. Indeed, He is Aware of that which you do.
-
27:89
مَن جَآءَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَا وَهُم مِّن فَزَعٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ ءَامِنُونَ ٨٩
Man jaa bilhasanatifalahu khayrun minha wahum min fazaAAin yawma-ithinaminoon
QaraiWhoever brings virtue shall receive [a reward] better than it; and on that day they will be secure from terror.
Saheeh InternationalWhoever comes [at Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it, and they, from the terror of that Day, will be safe.
-
27:90
وَمَن جَآءَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٩٠
Waman jaa bissayyi-atifakubbat wujoohuhum fee annari hal tujzawna illama kuntum taAAmaloon
QaraiBut whoever brings vice—they shall be cast on their faces into the Fire [and told:] ‘Shall you not be requited for what you used to do?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd whoever comes with an evil deed - their faces will be overturned into the Fire, [and it will be said], "Are you recompensed except for what you used to do?"
-
27:91
إِنَّمَآ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ رَبَّ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْبَلْدَةِ ٱلَّذِى حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهُۥ كُلُّ شَىْءٍ ۖ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ ٩١
Innama omirtu an aAAbuda rabba hathihialbaldati allathee harramaha walahu kullushay-in waomirtu an akoona mina almuslimeen
Qarai[Say], ‘I have been commanded to worship the Lord of this city who has made it inviolable and to whom all things belong, and I have been commanded to be among those who submit [to Allah],
Saheeh International[Say, O Muḥammad], "I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city, who made it sacred and to whom [belongs] all things. And I am commanded to be of the Muslims [i.e., those who submit to Allāh]
-
27:92
وَأَنْ أَتْلُوَا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ ۖ فَمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِى لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَقُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ ٩٢
Waan atluwa alqur-ana famani ihtadafa-innama yahtadee linafsihi waman dalla faqulinnama ana mina almunthireen
Qaraiand to recite the Quran.’ Whoever is guided is guided only for his own good, and as for him who goes astray, say, ‘I am just one of the warners.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd to recite the Qur’ān." And whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] himself; and whoever strays - say, "I am only [one] of the warners."
-
27:93
وَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ سَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ فَتَعْرِفُونَهَا ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ ٩٣
Waquli alhamdu lillahisayureekum ayatihi fataAArifoonaha wamarabbuka bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloon
QaraiAnd say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah. Soon He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them.’ Your Lord is not oblivious of what you do.
Saheeh InternationalAnd say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allāh. He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do."
