بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
26:1
طسٓمٓ ١
Ta-seen-meem
QaraiTa, Seen, Meem.
Saheeh InternationalṬā, Seen, Meem.
-
26:2
تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ٢
Tilka ayatu alkitabialmubeen
QaraiThese are the signs of the Manifest Book.
Saheeh InternationalThese are the verses of the clear Book.
-
26:3
لَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ ٣
LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka allayakoonoo mu/mineen
QaraiYou are liable to imperil your life [out of distress] that they will not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalPerhaps, [O Muḥammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
-
26:4
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَٰضِعِينَ ٤
In nasha/ nunazzil AAalayhim mina assama-iayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum lahakhadiAAeen
QaraiIf We wish We will send down to them a sign from the sky before which their heads will remain bowed in humility.
Saheeh InternationalIf We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.
-
26:5
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ ٥
Wama ya/teehim min thikrin minaarrahmani muhdathin illa kanooAAanhu muAArideen
QaraiThere does not come to them any new reminder from the All-beneficent but that they disregard it.
Saheeh InternationalAnd no mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.

26:6
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ٦
Faqad kaththaboo fasaya/teehim anbaoma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oon
QaraiThey have already denied [the truth], but soon there will come to them the news of what they have been deriding.
Saheeh InternationalFor they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.

26:7
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ ٧
Awa lam yaraw ila al-ardi kamanbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareem
QaraiHave they not regarded the earth, how many of every splendid kind [of vegetation] We have caused to grow in it?
Saheeh InternationalDid they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
-
26:8
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ٨
Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen
QaraiThere is indeed a sign in that; but most of them do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
-
26:9
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٩
Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
QaraiIndeed your Lord is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

26:10
وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ١٠
Wa-ith nada rabbukamoosa ani i/ti alqawma aththalimeen
QaraiWhen your Lord called out to Moses: [saying,] ‘Go to those wrongdoing people,
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
-
26:11
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ ١١
Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoon
Qaraithe people of Pharaoh. Will they not be wary [of Allah]?’
Saheeh InternationalThe people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allāh?"
-
26:12
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ ١٢
Qala rabbi innee akhafu anyukaththiboon
QaraiHe said, ‘My Lord! I fear they will impugn me,
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
-
26:13
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَٰرُونَ ١٣
Wayadeequ sadree walayantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroon
Qaraiand I will become upset and my tongue will fail me. So send for Aaron [to join me].
Saheeh InternationalAnd that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.

26:14
وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ ١٤
Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafuan yaqtuloon
QaraiBesides, they have a charge against me, and I fear they will kill me.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."

26:15
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بَِٔايَٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ ١٥
Qala kalla fathhababi-ayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoon
QaraiHe said, ‘Certainly not! Let both of you go with Our signs: We will indeed be with you, hearing [everything].
Saheeh International[Allāh] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
-
26:16
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٦
Fa/tiya firAAawna faqoola innarasoolu rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiSo approach Pharaoh and say, ‘‘We are indeed envoys of the Lord of the worlds
Saheeh InternationalGo to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
-
26:17
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ١٧
An arsil maAAana banee isra-eel
Qaraithat you let the Children of Israel leave with us.’’ ’
Saheeh International[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"

26:18
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ ١٨
Qala alam nurabbika feenawaleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineen
QaraiHe [i.e. Pharaoh] said, ‘Did we not rear you as a child among us, and did you not stay with us for years of your life?
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
-
26:19
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ١٩
WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAaltawaanta mina alkafireen
QaraiThen you committed that deed of yours, and you are an ingrate.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."

26:20
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ ٢٠
Qala faAAaltuha ithanwaana mina addalleen
QaraiHe said, ‘I did that when I was astray.
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray [i.e., ignorant].
-
26:21
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ٢١
Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukumfawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleen
QaraiSo I fled from you, as I was afraid of you. Then my Lord gave me sound judgement and made me one of the apostles.
Saheeh InternationalSo I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me judgement [i.e., wisdom and prophethood] and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
-
26:22
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٢٢
Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayyaan AAabbadta banee isra-eel
QaraiThat you have enslaved the Children of Israel—is that the favour with which you reproach me?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"

26:23
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٢٣
Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameen
QaraiHe said, ‘And what is ‘‘the Lord of all the worlds?’’ ’
Saheeh InternationalSaid Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"

26:24
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ ٢٤
Qala rabbu assamawatiwal-ardi wama baynahuma in kuntummooqineen
QaraiHe said, ‘The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them,—should you have conviction.’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."
-
26:25
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ ٢٥
Qala liman hawlahu alatastamiAAoon
QaraiHe said to those who were around him, ‘Don’t you hear?!’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
-
26:26
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٢٦
Qala rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumual-awwaleen
QaraiHe said, ‘Your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers!’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."

26:27
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ ٢٧
Qala inna rasoolakumu allatheeorsila ilaykum lamajnoon
QaraiHe said, ‘Indeed your messenger, who has been sent to you, is surely crazy!’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."

26:28
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ٢٨
Qala rabbu almashriqi walmaghribiwama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloon
QaraiHe said, ‘The Lord of the east and the west and whatever is between them—should you exercise your reason.’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."
-
26:29
قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ ٢٩
Qala la-ini ittakhathta ilahanghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneen
QaraiHe said, ‘If you take up any god other than me, I will surely make you a prisoner!’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."
-
26:30
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ ٣٠
Qala awa law ji/tuka bishay-in mubeen
QaraiHe said, ‘What if I bring you something [as an] unmistakable [proof]?’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you something [i.e., proof] manifest?"
-
26:31
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ ٣١
Qala fa/ti bihi in kunta mina assadiqeen
QaraiHe said, ‘Then bring it, should you be truthful.’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."

26:32
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ ٣٢
Faalqa AAasahu fa-ithahiya thuAAbanun mubeen
QaraiThereat he threw down his staff, and behold, it was a manifest python.
Saheeh InternationalSo [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
-
26:33
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ ٣٣
WanazaAAa yadahu fa-itha hiya baydaolinnathireen
QaraiThen he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white and bright to the onlookers.
Saheeh InternationalAnd he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
-
26:34
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ ٣٤
Qala lilmala-i hawlahu inna hathalasahirun AAaleem
QaraiHe said to the elite [who stood] around him, ‘This is indeed an expert magician
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.
-
26:35
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ ٣٥
Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikumbisihrihi famatha ta/muroon
Qaraiwho seeks to expel you from your land with his magic. So what do you advise?’
Saheeh InternationalHe wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
-
26:36
قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ ٣٦
Qaloo arjih waakhahu wabAAathfee almada-ini hashireen
QaraiThey said, ‘Put him and his brother off for a while, and send heralds to the cities
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
-
26:37
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ ٣٧
Ya/tooka bikulli sahharin AAaleem
Qaraito bring you every expert magician.’
Saheeh InternationalWho will bring you every learned, skilled magician."
-
26:38
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ٣٨
FajumiAAa assaharatu limeeqatiyawmin maAAloom
QaraiSo the magicians were gathered for the tryst of a known day,
Saheeh InternationalSo the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.

26:39
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ ٣٩
Waqeela linnasi hal antummujtamiAAoon
Qaraiand the people were told: ‘Will you all gather?!’
Saheeh InternationalAnd it was said to the people, "Will you congregate
-
26:40
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ ٤٠
LaAAallana nattabiAAu assaharatain kanoo humu alghalibeen
Qarai‘Maybe we will follow the magicians, if they are victors!’
Saheeh InternationalThat we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
-
26:41
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ ٤١
Falamma jaa assaharatuqaloo lifirAAawna a-inna lana laajran in kunnanahnu alghalibeen
QaraiSo when the magicians came, they said to Pharaoh, ‘Shall we have a reward if we were to be the victors?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"
-
26:42
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ ٤٢
Qala naAAam wa-innakum ithanlamina almuqarrabeen
QaraiHe said, ‘Of course; and you will be among members of my inner circle.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."

26:43
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ ٤٣
Qala lahum moosa alqoo maantum mulqoon
QaraiMoses said to them, ‘Throw down whatever you have to throw!’
Saheeh InternationalMoses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."

26:44
فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ ٤٤
Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahumwaqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnualghaliboon
QaraiSo they threw down their sticks and ropes, and said, ‘By the might of Pharaoh, we shall surely be victorious!’
Saheeh InternationalSo they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
-
26:45
فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ ٤٥
Faalqa moosa AAasahufa-itha hiya talqafu ma ya/fikoon
QaraiThereat Moses threw down his staff, and behold, it was swallowing what they had faked.
Saheeh InternationalThen Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
-
26:46
فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَ ٤٦
Faolqiya assaharatu sajideen
QaraiThereat the magicians fell down prostrating.
Saheeh InternationalSo the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allāh].
-
26:47
قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٤٧
Qaloo amanna birabbialAAalameen
QaraiThey said, ‘We believe in the Lord of all the worlds,
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
-
26:48
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ ٤٨
Rabbi moosa waharoon
Qaraithe Lord of Moses and Aaron.’
Saheeh InternationalThe Lord of Moses and Aaron."
-
26:49
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٤٩
Qala amantum lahu qabla an athanalakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu assihrafalasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakummin khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeen
QaraiHe [i.e. Pharaoh] said, ‘Do you profess faith in Him before I should permit you? He is indeed your chief who has taught you magic! Soon you will know! I will cut off your hands and feet from opposite sides, and I will crucify you all.’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him [i.e., Moses] before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."

26:50
قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ ٥٠
Qaloo la dayra innaila rabbina munqaliboon
QaraiThey said, ‘[There is] no harm [in that]! Indeed, we shall return to our Lord.
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
-
26:51
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٥١
Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lanarabbuna khatayana an kunnaawwala almu/mineen
QaraiIndeed we hope our Lord will forgive us our offences for being the first to believe.’
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."

26:52
۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ٥٢
Waawhayna ila moosaan asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoon
QaraiThen We revealed to Moses, [saying],‘Set out with My servants at night, for you will be pursued.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."
-
26:53
فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ ٥٣
Faarsala firAAawnu fee almada-ini hashireen
QaraiThen Pharaoh sent heralds to the cities,
Saheeh InternationalThen Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
-
26:54
إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ ٥٤
Inna haola-i lashirthimatunqaleeloon
Qarai[proclaiming:] ‘These are indeed a small band.
Saheeh International[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,
-
26:55
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ ٥٥
Wa-innahum lana lagha-ithoon
QaraiThey have aroused our wrath,
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, they are enraging us,
-
26:56
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَٰذِرُونَ ٥٦
Wa-inna lajameeAAun hathiroon
Qaraiand we are alert and fully prepared.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, we are a cautious society..."
-
26:57
فَأَخْرَجْنَٰهُم مِّن جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ٥٧
Faakhrajnahum min jannatinwaAAuyoon
QaraiSo We took them out of gardens and springs,
Saheeh InternationalSo We removed them from gardens and springs
-
26:58
وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ ٥٨
Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareem
Qaraiand [made them leave behind] treasures and stately homes.
Saheeh InternationalAnd treasures and honorable station -
-
26:59
كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٥٩
Kathalika waawrathnahabanee isra-eel
QaraiSo it was; and We bequeathed them to the Children of Israel.
Saheeh InternationalThus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
-
26:60
فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ ٦٠
FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeen
QaraiThen they pursued them at sunrise.
Saheeh InternationalSo they pursued them at sunrise.
-
26:61
فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ ٦١
Falamma taraa aljamAAaniqala as-habu moosa innalamudrakoon
QaraiWhen the two hosts sighted each other, the companions of Moses said, ‘Indeed we have been caught up.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

26:62
قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ ٦٢
Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbeesayahdeen
QaraiHe said, ‘Certainly not! Indeed my Lord is with me. He will guide me.’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
-
26:63
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٦٣
Faawhayna ila moosaani idrib biAAasaka albahra fanfalaqafakana kullu firqin kattawdi alAAatheem
QaraiThereupon We revealed to Moses: ‘Strike the sea with your staff!’ Whereupon it parted, and each part was as if it were a great mountain.
Saheeh InternationalThen We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

26:64
وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ ٱلَْٔاخَرِينَ ٦٤
Waazlafna thamma al-akhareen
QaraiThere, We brought the others near,
Saheeh InternationalAnd We advanced thereto the others [i.e., the pursuers].
-
26:65
وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ٦٥
Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahuajmaAAeen
Qaraiand We delivered Moses and all those who were with him.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
-
26:66
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلَْٔاخَرِينَ ٦٦
Thumma aghraqna al-akhareen
QaraiThen We drowned the rest.
Saheeh InternationalThen We drowned the others.
-
26:67
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ٦٧
Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen
QaraiThere is indeed a sign in that, but most of them do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
-
26:68
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٦٨
Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
QaraiIndeed your Lord is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
-
26:69
وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٦٩
Watlu AAalayhim nabaa ibraheem
QaraiRelate to them the account of Abraham
Saheeh InternationalAnd recite to them the news of Abraham,
-
26:70
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ ٧٠
Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mataAAbudoon
Qaraiwhen he said to his father and his people, ‘What is it that you are worshiping?!’
Saheeh InternationalWhen he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
-
26:71
قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَ ٧١
Qaloo naAAbudu asnamanfanathallu laha AAakifeen
QaraiThey said, ‘We worship idols, and are constant in our devotion to them.’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."

26:72
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ ٧٢
Qala hal yasmaAAoonakum ithtadAAoon
QaraiHe said, ‘Do they hear you when you call them?
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?
-
26:73
أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ ٧٣
Aw yanfaAAoonakum aw yadurroon
QaraiOr do they bring you any benefit, or cause you any harm?’
Saheeh InternationalOr do they benefit you, or do they harm?"
-
26:74
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ ٧٤
Qaloo bal wajadna abaanakathalika yafAAaloon
QaraiThey said, ‘Indeed, we found our fathers doing likewise.’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."

26:75
قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ ٧٥
Qala afaraaytum ma kuntumtaAAbudoon
QaraiHe said, ‘Have you regarded what you have been worshipping,
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,
-
26:76
أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ ٧٦
Antum waabaokumu al-aqdamoon
Qaraiyou and your ancestors?
Saheeh InternationalYou and your ancient forefathers?
-
26:77
فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٧٧
Fa-innahum AAaduwwun lee illa rabbaalAAalameen
QaraiThey are indeed enemies to me, but the Lord of all the worlds,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,
-
26:78
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ ٧٨
Allathee khalaqanee fahuwa yahdeen
Qaraiwho created me, it is He who guides me,
Saheeh InternationalWho created me, and He [it is who] guides me.
-
26:79
وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ ٧٩
Wallathee huwa yutAAimuneewayasqeen
Qaraiand provides me with food and drink,
Saheeh InternationalAnd it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.
-
26:80
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ ٨٠
Wa-itha maridtu fahuwayashfeen
Qaraiand when I get sick, it is He who cures me;
Saheeh InternationalAnd when I am ill, it is He who cures me
-
26:81
وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ ٨١
Wallathee yumeetunee thummayuhyeen
Qaraiwho will make me die, then He will bring me to life,
Saheeh InternationalAnd who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
-
26:82
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيَٓٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ ٨٢
Wallathee atmaAAu anyaghfira lee khatee-atee yawma addeen
Qaraiand who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the Day of Retribution.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."
-
26:83
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ٨٣
Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqneebissaliheen
Qarai‘My Lord! Grant me [unerring] judgement, and unite me with the Righteous.
Saheeh International[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.
-
26:84
وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى ٱلَْٔاخِرِينَ ٨٤
WajAAal lee lisana sidqinfee al-akhireen
QaraiConfer on me a worthy repute among the posterity,
Saheeh InternationalAnd grant me a mention [i.e., reputation] of honor among later generations.
-
26:85
وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٨٥
WajAAalnee min warathati jannati annaAAeem
Qaraiand make me one of the heirs to the paradise of bliss.
Saheeh InternationalAnd place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
-
26:86
وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ ٨٦
Waghfir li-abee innahu kanamina addalleen
QaraiForgive my father, for he is one of those who are astray.
Saheeh InternationalAnd forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
-
26:87
وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ ٨٧
Wala tukhzinee yawma yubAAathoon
QaraiDo not disgrace me on the day that they will be resurrected,
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -
-
26:88
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ ٨٨
Yawma la yanfaAAu malun walabanoon
Qaraithe day when neither wealth nor children will avail,
Saheeh InternationalThe Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
-
26:89
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ ٨٩
Illa man ata Allahabiqalbin saleem
Qaraiexcept him who comes to Allah with a sound heart,’
Saheeh InternationalBut only one who comes to Allāh with a sound heart."
-
26:90
وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ ٩٠
Waozlifati aljannatu lilmuttaqeen
Qaraiand paradise will be brought near for the Godwary,
Saheeh InternationalAnd Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.
-
26:91
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ ٩١
Waburrizati aljaheemu lilghaween
Qaraiand hell will be brought into view for the perverse,
Saheeh InternationalAnd Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,
-
26:92
وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ ٩٢
Waqeela lahum ayna ma kuntumtaAAbudoon
Qaraiand they shall be told: ‘Where is that which you used to worship
Saheeh InternationalAnd it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship
-
26:93
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ ٩٣
Min dooni Allahi hal yansuroonakumaw yantasiroon
Qaraibesides Allah? Do they help you, or do they help each other?’
Saheeh InternationalOther than Allāh? Can they help you or help themselves?"
-
26:94
فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ ٩٤
Fakubkiboo feeha hum walghawoon
QaraiThen they will be cast into it on their faces—they and the perverse,
Saheeh InternationalSo they will be overturned into it [i.e., Hellfire], they and the deviators
-
26:95
وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ ٩٥
Wajunoodu ibleesa ajmaAAoon
Qaraiand the hosts of Iblis all together.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the soldiers of Iblees, all together.
-
26:96
قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ ٩٦
Qaloo wahum feeha yakhtasimoon
QaraiThey will say, as they wrangle in it [together],
Saheeh InternationalThey will say while they dispute therein,
-
26:97
تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٩٧
Tallahi in kunna lafeedalalin mubeen
Qarai‘By Allah, we had indeed been in manifest error
Saheeh International"By Allāh, we were indeed in manifest error
-
26:98
إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٩٨
Ith nusawweekum birabbi alAAalameen
Qaraiwhen we equated you with the Lord of all the worlds!
Saheeh InternationalWhen we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.
-
26:99
وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ ٩٩
Wama adallana illaalmujrimoon
QaraiNo one led us astray except the guilty.
Saheeh InternationalAnd no one misguided us except the criminals.
-
26:100
فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَ ١٠٠
Fama lana min shafiAAeen
QaraiNow we have no intercessors,
Saheeh InternationalSo now we have no intercessors
-
26:101
وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ ١٠١
Wala sadeeqin hameem
Qarainor do we have any sympathetic friend.
Saheeh InternationalAnd not a devoted friend.
-
26:102
فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٠٢
Falaw anna lana karratan fanakoonamina almu/mineen
QaraiHad there been another turn for us, we would be among the faithful.’
Saheeh InternationalThen if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers..."
-
26:103
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ١٠٣
Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen
QaraiThere is indeed a sign in that; but most of them do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
-
26:104
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ١٠٤
Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
QaraiIndeed your Lord is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
-
26:105
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٠٥
Kaththabat qawmu noohinalmursaleen
QaraiThe people of Noah impugned the apostles
Saheeh InternationalThe people of Noah denied the messengers
-
26:106
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٠٦
Ith qala lahum akhoohum noohunala tattaqoon
Qaraiwhen Noah, their brother, said to them, ‘Will you not be wary [of Allah]?
Saheeh InternationalWhen their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
-
26:107
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ١٠٧
Innee lakum rasoolun ameen
QaraiIndeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
-
26:108
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١٠٨
Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon
QaraiSo be wary of Allah and obey me.
Saheeh InternationalSo fear Allāh and obey me.
-
26:109
وَمَآ أَسَْٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٠٩
Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiI do not ask you any reward for it; my reward lies only with the Lord of all the worlds.
Saheeh InternationalAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
-
26:110
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١١٠
Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon
QaraiSo be wary of Allah and obey me.’
Saheeh InternationalSo fear Allāh and obey me."
-
26:111
۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ ١١١
Qaloo anu/minu laka wattabaAAakaal-arthaloon
QaraiThey said, ‘Shall we believe in you, when it is the riffraff who follow you?’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"
-
26:112
قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ١١٢
Qala wama AAilmee bimakanoo yaAAmaloon
QaraiHe said, ‘What do I know as to what they used to do?
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?
-
26:113
إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ ١١٣
In hisabuhum illa AAalarabbee law tashAAuroon
QaraiTheir reckoning is only with my Lord, should you be aware.
Saheeh InternationalTheir account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.
-
26:114
وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١١٤
Wama ana bitaridialmu/mineen
QaraiI will not drive away the faithful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd I am not one to drive away the believers.
-
26:115
إِنْ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ١١٥
In ana illa natheerunmubeen
QaraiI am just a manifest warner.’
Saheeh InternationalI am only a clear warner."
-
26:116
قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَ ١١٦
Qaloo la-in lam tantahi yanoohu latakoonanna mina almarjoomeen
QaraiThey said, ‘Noah, if you do not desist, you will certainly be stoned [to death].’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."
-
26:117
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ ١١٧
Qala rabbi inna qawmee kaththaboon
QaraiHe said, ‘My Lord! Indeed my people have impugned me.
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.
-
26:118
فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١١٨
Faftah baynee wabaynahum fathanwanajjinee waman maAAiya mina almu/mineen
QaraiSo judge conclusively between me and them, and deliver me and the faithful who are with me.’
Saheeh InternationalThen judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."
-
26:119
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ ١١٩
Faanjaynahu waman maAAahu feealfulki almashhoon
QaraiThereupon We delivered him and those who were with him in the laden ark.
Saheeh InternationalSo We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.
-
26:120
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ ١٢٠
Thumma aghraqna baAAdu albaqeen
QaraiThen We drowned the rest.
Saheeh InternationalThen We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.
-
26:121
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ١٢١
Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen
QaraiThere is indeed a sign in that; but most of them do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
-
26:122
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ١٢٢
Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
QaraiIndeed your Lord is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
-
26:123
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٢٣
Kaththabat AAadun almursaleen
Qarai[The people of] ‘Ad impugned the apostles,
Saheeh InternationalʿAad denied the messengers
-
26:124
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٢٤
Ith qala lahum akhoohumhoodun ala tattaqoon
Qaraiwhen Hud, their brother, said to them, ‘Will you not be wary [of Allah]?
Saheeh InternationalWhen their brother Hūd said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
-
26:125
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ١٢٥
Innee lakum rasoolun ameen
QaraiIndeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
-
26:126
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١٢٦
Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon
QaraiSo be wary of Allah and obey me.
Saheeh InternationalSo fear Allāh and obey me.
-
26:127
وَمَآ أَسَْٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٢٧
Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiI do not ask you any reward for it; my reward lies only with the Lord of all the worlds.
Saheeh InternationalAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

26:128
أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةً تَعْبَثُونَ ١٢٨
Atabnoona bikulli reeAAin ayatantaAAbathoon
QaraiDo you build futile a sign on every prominence?
Saheeh InternationalDo you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,
-
26:129
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ ١٢٩
Watattakhithoona masaniAAalaAAallakum takhludoon
QaraiYou set up structures as if you will be immortal,
Saheeh InternationalAnd take for yourselves constructions [i.e., palaces and fortresses] that you might abide eternally?
-
26:130
وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ ١٣٠
Wa-itha batashtum batashtumjabbareen
Qaraiand when you seize [someone for punishment], you seize [him] like tyrants.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when you strike, you strike as tyrants.
-
26:131
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١٣١
Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon
QaraiSo be wary of Allah and obey me.
Saheeh InternationalSo fear Allāh and obey me.
-
26:132
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ ١٣٢
Wattaqoo allathee amaddakumbima taAAlamoon
QaraiBe wary of Him who has provided you with whatever you know,
Saheeh InternationalAnd fear He who provided you with that which you know,
-
26:133
أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَٰمٍ وَبَنِينَ ١٣٣
Amaddakum bi-anAAamin wabaneen
Qaraiand aided you with sons and with cattle,
Saheeh InternationalProvided you with grazing livestock and children
-
26:134
وَجَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ١٣٤
Wajannatin waAAuyoon
Qaraigardens and springs.
Saheeh InternationalAnd gardens and springs.

26:135
إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ١٣٥
Innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathabayawmin AAatheem
QaraiIndeed I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous day.’
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."
-
26:136
قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ ١٣٦
Qaloo sawaon AAalaynaawaAAathta am lam takun mina alwaAAitheen
QaraiThey said, ‘It is the same to us whether you exhort us or not.
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.
-
26:137
إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٣٧
In hatha illa khuluqual-awwaleen
QaraiThese are nothing but the traditions of the ancients,
Saheeh InternationalThis is not but the custom of the former peoples,
-
26:138
وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ ١٣٨
Wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeen
Qaraiand we will not be punished.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd we are not to be punished."
-
26:139
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ١٣٩
Fakaththaboohu faahlaknahuminna fee thalika laayatan wama kanaaktharuhum mu/mineen
QaraiSo they impugned him, whereupon We destroyed them. There is indeed a sign in that; but most of them do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
-
26:140
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ١٤٠
Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
QaraiIndeed your Lord is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

26:141
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٤١
Kaththabat thamoodu almursaleen
Qarai[The people of] Thamud impugned the apostles
Saheeh InternationalThamūd denied the messengers
-
26:142
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٤٢
Ith qala lahum akhoohum salihunala tattaqoon
Qaraiwhen Salih, their brother, said to them, ‘Will you not be wary [of Allah]?
Saheeh InternationalWhen their brother Ṣāliḥ said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
-
26:143
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ١٤٣
Innee lakum rasoolun ameen
QaraiIndeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
-
26:144
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١٤٤
Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon
QaraiSo be wary of Allah and obey me.
Saheeh InternationalSo fear Allāh and obey me.
-
26:145
وَمَآ أَسَْٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٤٥
Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiI do not ask you any reward for it; my reward lies only with the Lord of all the worlds.
Saheeh InternationalAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

26:146
أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ ١٤٦
Atutrakoona fee ma hahunaamineen
QaraiWill you be left secure in that which is here
Saheeh InternationalWill you be left in what is here, secure [from death],
-
26:147
فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ١٤٧
Fee jannatin waAAuyoon
Qarai—amid gardens and springs,
Saheeh InternationalWithin gardens and springs
-
26:148
وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ ١٤٨
WazurooAAin wanakhlin talAAuhahadeem
Qaraifarms and date palms with dainty spathes
Saheeh InternationalAnd fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?

26:149
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَٰرِهِينَ ١٤٩
Watanhitoona mina aljibalibuyootan fariheen
Qarai—while you skillfully hew out houses from the mountains?
Saheeh InternationalAnd you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.
-
26:150
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١٥٠
Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon
QaraiSo be wary of Allah and obey me,
Saheeh InternationalSo fear Allāh and obey me.
-
26:151
وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ ١٥١
Wala tuteeAAoo amraalmusrifeen
Qaraiand do not obey the dictates of the transgressors,
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not obey the order of the transgressors,
-
26:152
ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ ١٥٢
Allatheena yufsidoona fee al-ardiwala yuslihoon
Qaraiwho cause corruption in the land and do not bring about reform.’
Saheeh InternationalWho cause corruption in the land and do not amend."

26:153
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ ١٥٣
Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareen
QaraiThey said, ‘Indeed you are one of the bewitched.
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
-
26:154
مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بَِٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ ١٥٤
Ma anta illa basharun mithlunafa/ti bi-ayatin in kunta mina assadiqeena
QaraiYou are just a human being like us. So bring us a sign, should you be truthful.’
Saheeh InternationalYou are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."

26:155
قَالَ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ١٥٥
Qala hathihi naqatunlaha shirbun walakum shirbu yawmin maAAloom
QaraiHe said, ‘This is a she-camel; she shall drink and you shall drink on known days.
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.
-
26:156
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ١٥٦
Wala tamassooha bisoo-infaya/khuthakum AAathabu yawmin AAatheem
QaraiDo not cause her any harm, for then you shall be seized by the punishment of a terrible day.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."

26:157
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَٰدِمِينَ ١٥٧
FaAAaqarooha faasbahoonadimeen
QaraiBut they hamstrung her, whereupon they became regretful.
Saheeh InternationalBut they hamstrung her and so became regretful.
-
26:158
فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ١٥٨
Faakhathahumu alAAathabu innafee thalika laayatan wama kanaaktharuhum mu/mineen
QaraiSo the punishment seized them. There is indeed a sign in that; but most of them do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
-
26:159
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ١٥٩
Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
QaraiIndeed your Lord is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

26:160
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٦٠
Kaththabat qawmu lootinalmursaleen
QaraiThe people of Lot impugned the apostles
Saheeh InternationalThe people of Lot denied the messengers
-
26:161
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٦١
Ith qala lahum akhoohum lootunala tattaqoon
Qaraiwhen Lot, their brother, said to them, ‘Will you not be wary [of Allah]?
Saheeh InternationalWhen their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
-
26:162
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ١٦٢
Innee lakum rasoolun ameen
QaraiIndeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
-
26:163
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١٦٣
Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon
QaraiSo be wary of Allah and obey me.
Saheeh InternationalSo fear Allāh and obey me.
-
26:164
وَمَآ أَسَْٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٦٤
Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiI do not ask you any reward for it; my reward lies only with the Lord of all the worlds.
Saheeh InternationalAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
-
26:165
أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٦٥
Ata/toona aththukranamina alAAalameen
QaraiWhat! Of all people do you come to males,
Saheeh InternationalDo you approach males among the worlds
-
26:166
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ ١٦٦
Watatharoona ma khalaqa lakumrabbukum min azwajikum bal antum qawmun AAadoon
Qaraiabandoning your wives your Lord has created for you? Indeed, you are a transgressing lot.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."

26:167
قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ ١٦٧
Qaloo la-in lam tantahi yalootu latakoonanna mina almukhrajeen
QaraiThey said, ‘Lot, if you do not desist, you will surely be banished.’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."
-
26:168
قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ ١٦٨
Qala innee liAAamalikum mina alqaleen
QaraiHe said, ‘Indeed I detest your conduct.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it].
-
26:169
رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ ١٦٩
Rabbi najjinee waahlee mimmayaAAmaloon
Qarai‘My Lord! Deliver me and my family from what they do.’
Saheeh InternationalMy Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do."

26:170
فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ١٧٠
Fanajjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeen
QaraiSo We delivered him and all his family,
Saheeh InternationalSo We saved him and his family, all,
-
26:171
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ ١٧١
Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireen
Qaraiexcept an old woman who remained behind.
Saheeh InternationalExcept an old woman among those who remained behind.
-
26:172
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلَْٔاخَرِينَ ١٧٢
Thumma dammarna al-akhareen
QaraiThen We destroyed [all] the rest,
Saheeh InternationalThen We destroyed the others.
-
26:173
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ١٧٣
Waamtarna AAalayhim mataranfasaa mataru almunthareen
Qaraiand rained down upon them a rain [of stones]. Evil was the rain of those who were warned!
Saheeh InternationalAnd We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
-
26:174
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ١٧٤
Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen
QaraiThere is indeed a sign in that; but most of them do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
-
26:175
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ١٧٥
Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
QaraiIndeed your Lord is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
-
26:176
كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ لَْٔيْكَةِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٧٦
Kaththaba as-habual-aykati almursaleen
QaraiThe inhabitants of Aykah impugned the apostles,
Saheeh InternationalThe companions of the thicket [i.e., the people of Madyan] denied the messengers
-
26:177
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٧٧
Ith qala lahum shuAAaybun alatattaqoon
Qaraiwhen Shu‘ayb said to them, ‘Will you not be wary [of Allah]?
Saheeh InternationalWhen Shuʿayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
-
26:178
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ١٧٨
Innee lakum rasoolun ameen
QaraiIndeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
-
26:179
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١٧٩
Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon
QaraiSo be wary of Allah and obey me.
Saheeh InternationalSo fear Allāh and obey me.
-
26:180
وَمَآ أَسَْٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٨٠
Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiI do not ask you any reward for it; my reward lies only with the Lord of all the worlds.
Saheeh InternationalAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
-
26:181
۞ أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَ ١٨١
Awfoo alkayla wala takoonoo minaalmukhsireen
QaraiObserve the full measure, and do not be of those who give short measure.
Saheeh InternationalGive full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.
-
26:182
وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ ١٨٢
Wazinoo bilqistasialmustaqeem
QaraiWeigh with an even balance,
Saheeh InternationalAnd weigh with an even [i.e., honest] balance.
-
26:183
وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ ١٨٣
Wala tabkhasoo annasaashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee al-ardimufsideen
Qaraiand do not cheat the people of their goods. Do not act wickedly on the earth, causing corruption.
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.
-
26:184
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٨٤
Wattaqoo allathee khalaqakumwaljibillata al-awwaleen
QaraiBe wary of Him who created you and the earlier generations.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd fear He who created you and the former creation."
-
26:185
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ ١٨٥
Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareen
QaraiThey said, ‘Indeed you are one of the bewitched.
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
-
26:186
وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ ١٨٦
Wama anta illa basharunmithluna wa-in nathunnuka lamina alkathibeen
QaraiYou are just a human being like us, and we indeed consider you to be a liar.
Saheeh InternationalYou are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.
-
26:187
فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ ١٨٧
Faasqit AAalayna kisafan minaassama-i in kunta mina assadiqeen
QaraiMake a fragment of the sky falls upon us, should you be truthful.’
Saheeh InternationalSo cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."

26:188
قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ١٨٨
Qala rabbee aAAlamu bimataAAmaloon
QaraiHe said, ‘My Lord knows best what you are doing.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."
-
26:189
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ١٨٩
Fakaththaboohu faakhathahumAAathabu yawmi aththullati innahu kanaAAathaba yawmin AAatheem
QaraiSo they impugned him, and then they were overtaken by the punishment of the day of the overshadowing cloud. It was indeed the punishment of a terrible day.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.
-
26:190
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لََٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ١٩٠
Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen
QaraiThere is indeed a sign in that; but most of them do not have faith.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
-
26:191
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ١٩١
Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
QaraiIndeed your Lord is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
-
26:192
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٩٢
Wa-innahu latanzeelu rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiThis is indeed [a Book] sent down by the Lord of all the worlds,
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
-
26:193
نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ ١٩٣
Nazala bihi arroohu al-ameen
Qaraibrought down by the Trustworthy Spirit
Saheeh InternationalThe Trustworthy Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down
-
26:194
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ ١٩٤
AAala qalbika litakoona mina almunthireen
Qaraiupon your heart (so that you may be one of the warners),
Saheeh InternationalUpon your heart, [O Muḥammad] - that you may be of the warners
-
26:195
بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ ١٩٥
Bilisanin AAarabiyyin mubeen
Qaraiin a clear Arabic language.
Saheeh InternationalIn a clear Arabic language.
-
26:196
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٩٦
Wa-innahu lafee zuburi al-awwaleen
QaraiIt is indeed [foretold] in the scriptures of the ancients.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
-
26:197
أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ١٩٧
Awa lam yakun lahum ayatan anyaAAlamahu AAulamao banee isra-eel
QaraiIs it not a sign for them that the learned of the Children of Israel recognize it?
Saheeh InternationalAnd has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
-
26:198
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ ١٩٨
Walaw nazzalnahu AAala baAAdial-aAAjameen
QaraiHad We sent it down upon some non-Arab
Saheeh InternationalAnd even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners
-
26:199
فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ ١٩٩
Faqaraahu AAalayhim ma kanoobihi mu/mineen
Qaraiand had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it.
Saheeh InternationalAnd he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.
-
26:200
كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ٢٠٠
Kathalika salaknahu feequloobi almujrimeen
QaraiThis is how We let it pass through the hearts of the guilty:
Saheeh InternationalThus have We inserted it [i.e., disbelief] into the hearts of the criminals.
-
26:201
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ ٢٠١
La yu/minoona bihi hattayarawoo alAAathaba al-aleem
Qaraithey do not believe in it until they sight the painful punishment.
Saheeh InternationalThey will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.
-
26:202
فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ٢٠٢
Faya/tiyahum baghtatan wahum layashAAuroon
QaraiIt will overtake them suddenly while they are unaware.
Saheeh InternationalAnd it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.
-
26:203
فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ ٢٠٣
Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoon
QaraiThereupon they will say, ‘Shall we be granted any respite?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd they will say, "May we be reprieved?"
-
26:204
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ ٢٠٤
AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloon
QaraiSo do they seek to hasten on Our punishment?
Saheeh InternationalSo for Our punishment are they impatient?
-
26:205
أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَٰهُمْ سِنِينَ ٢٠٥
Afaraayta in mattaAAnahum sineen
QaraiTell me, should We let them enjoy for some years,
Saheeh InternationalThen have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
-
26:206
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ ٢٠٦
Thumma jaahum ma kanooyooAAadoon
Qaraithen there comes to them what they have been promised,
Saheeh InternationalAnd then there came to them that which they were promised?
-
26:207
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ ٢٠٧
Ma aghna AAanhum ma kanooyumattaAAoon
Qaraiof what avail to them will be that which they were given to enjoy?
Saheeh InternationalThey would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.
-
26:208
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ ٢٠٨
Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illalaha munthiroon
QaraiWe have not destroyed any town without its having warners,
Saheeh InternationalAnd We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
-
26:209
ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ ٢٠٩
Thikra wama kunnathalimeen
Qaraifor the sake of admonition, and We were not unjust.
Saheeh InternationalAs a reminder; and never have We been unjust.
-
26:210
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ ٢١٠
Wama tanazzalat bihi ashshayateen
QaraiIt has not been brought down by the devils.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the devils have not brought it [i.e., the revelation] down.
-
26:211
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ٢١١
Wama yanbaghee lahum wamayastateeAAoon
QaraiNeither does it behoove them, nor are they capable [of doing that].
Saheeh InternationalIt is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.
-
26:212
إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ ٢١٢
Innahum AAani assamAAilamaAAzooloona
QaraiIndeed, they are kept at bay [even] from hearing it.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.
-
26:213
فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ ٢١٣
Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeen
QaraiSo do not invoke any god besides Allah, lest you should be among the punished.
Saheeh InternationalSo do not invoke with Allāh another deity and [thus] be among the punished.
-
26:214
وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ ٢١٤
Waanthir AAasheerataka al-aqrabeen
QaraiWarn the nearest of your kinsfolk,
Saheeh InternationalAnd warn, [O Muḥammad], your closest kindred.
-
26:215
وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٢١٥
Wakhfid janahakalimani ittabaAAaka mina almu/mineen
Qaraiand lower your wing to the faithful who follow you.
Saheeh InternationalAnd lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to those who follow you of the believers.
-
26:216
فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ ٢١٦
Fa-in AAasawka faqul innee baree-onmimma taAAmaloon
QaraiBut if they disobey you, say, ‘I am absolved of what you do.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."
-
26:217
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٢١٧
Watawakkal AAala alAAazeezi arraheem
QaraiAnd put your trust in the All-mighty, the All-merciful,
Saheeh InternationalAnd rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
-
26:218
ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ ٢١٨
Allathee yaraka heenataqoom
Qaraiwho sees you when you stand [for prayer],
Saheeh InternationalWho sees you when you arise
-
26:219
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ ٢١٩
Wataqallubaka fee assajideen
Qaraiand your going about among those who prostrate.
Saheeh InternationalAnd your movement among those who prostrate.
-
26:220
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٢٢٠
Innahu huwa assameeAAu alAAaleem
QaraiIndeed He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
-
26:221
هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ ٢٢١
Hal onabbi-okum AAala man tanazzaluashshayateen
QaraiShould I inform you on whom the devils descend?
Saheeh InternationalShall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?
-
26:222
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ ٢٢٢
Tanazzalu AAala kulli affakinatheem
QaraiThey descend on every sinful liar.
Saheeh InternationalThey descend upon every sinful liar.
-
26:223
يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَٰذِبُونَ ٢٢٣
Yulqoona assamAAa waaktharuhum kathiboon
QaraiThey eavesdrop, and most of them are liars.
Saheeh InternationalThey pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.
-
26:224
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ ٢٢٤
WashshuAAaraoyattabiAAuhumu alghawoon
QaraiAs for the poets, [only] the perverse follow them.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the poets - [only] the deviators follow them.
-
26:225
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ ٢٢٥
Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadinyaheemoon
QaraiHave you not regarded that they rove in every valley,
Saheeh InternationalDo you not see that in every valley they roam
-
26:226
وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ ٢٢٦
Waannahum yaqooloona ma layafAAaloon
Qaraiand that they say what they do not do?
Saheeh InternationalAnd that they say what they do not do? -
-
26:227
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ ٢٢٧
Illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati wathakaroo Allahakatheeran wantasaroo min baAAdi ma thulimoowasayaAAlamu allatheena thalamoo ayyamunqalabin yanqaliboon
QaraiBarring those who have faith, do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much often, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. And the wrongdoers will soon know at what goal they will end up.
Saheeh InternationalExcept those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allāh often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
