36:1
ي
سٓ ١Ya-seen
Ya Seen!Ali Quli Qarai
Yā, Seen.Saheeh International
-
36:2
وَ
ٱ لْقُرْءَانِٱ لْحَكِي مِ ٢Walqur-ani alhakeem
By the Wise Quran,Ali Quli Qarai
By the wise Qur’ān,Saheeh International
-
36:3
إِ
نّ َكَ لَمِنَٱ لْمُرْسَلِي نَ ٣Innaka lamina almursaleen
you are indeed one of the apostles,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed you, [O Muḥammad], are from among the messengers,Saheeh International
-
36:4
عَلَىٰ صِرَ
ٰ طٍ ۢم ُّسْتَقِي مٍۢ ٤AAala siratin mustaqeem
on a straight path.Ali Quli Qarai
On a straight path.Saheeh International
-
36:5
تَ
نز ِيلَٱ لْعَزِيزِٱ ل رَّحِي مِ ٥Tanzeela alAAazeezi arraheem
[It is a scripture] sent down gradually from the All-mighty, the All-mercifulAli Quli Qarai
[This is] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,Saheeh International
-
36:6
لِتُ
نذ ِرَ قَوْمً ۭا م َّآ أُنذ ِرَ ءَابَا ٓؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَٰ فِلُو نَ ٦Litunthira qawman ma onthiraabaohum fahum ghafiloon
that you may warn a people whose fathers were not warned, so they are oblivious.Ali Quli Qarai
That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware.Saheeh International

36:7
لَقَ
دْ حَقَّٱ لْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰٓ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُو نَ ٧Laqad haqqa alqawlu AAalaaktharihim fahum la yu/minoon
The word has certainly become due against most of them, so they will not have faith.Ali Quli Qarai
Already the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect upon most of them, so they do not believe.Saheeh International
-
36:8
إِ
نّ َا جَعَلْنَا فِىٓ أَعْنَٰ قِهِمْ أَغْلَٰ لً ۭاف َهِىَ إِلَىٱ لْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم م ُّقْ مَحُو نَ ٨Inna jaAAalna fee aAAnaqihimaghlalan fahiya ila al-athqani fahummuqmahoon
Indeed We have put iron collars around their necks, which are up to the chins, so their heads are upturned.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We have put shackles on their necks, and they are to their chins, so they are with heads [kept] aloft.Saheeh International

36:9
وَجَعَلْنَا م
ِنۢ ب َيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّ ۭا و َمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّ ۭا ف َأَغْشَيْنَٰ هُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْ صِرُو نَ ٩WajaAAalna min bayni aydeehim saddanwamin khalfihim saddan faaghshaynahum fahum la yubsiroon
And We have put a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, then We have blind-folded them, so they do not see.Ali Quli Qarai
And We have put before them a barrier and behind them a barrier and covered them, so they do not see.Saheeh International

36:10
وَسَو
َا ٓءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَأَنذ َرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذ ِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُو نَ ١٠Wasawaon AAalayhim aanthartahumam lam tunthirhum la yu/minoon
It is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not have faith.Ali Quli Qarai
And it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe.Saheeh International

36:11
إِ
نّ َمَا تُنذ ِرُ مَنِٱ تَّبَعَٱ ل ذِّكْرَ وَخَشِىَٱ ل رَّحْمَٰ نَ بِٱ لْغَيْبِ ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ ۢو َأَجْ رٍ ۢك َرِي مٍ ١١Innama tunthiru mani ittabaAAaaththikra wakhashiya arrahmanabilghaybi fabashshirhu bimaghfiratin waajrin kareem
You can only warn someone who follows the Reminder and fears the All-beneficent in secret; so give him the good news of forgiveness and a noble reward.Ali Quli Qarai
You can only warn one who follows the message and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward.Saheeh International

36:12
إِ
نّ َا نَحْنُ نُحْىِٱ لْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا۟ وَءَاثَٰ رَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰ هُ فِىٓ إِمَامٍ ۢم ُّبِي نٍۢ ١٢Inna nahnu nuhyeealmawta wanaktubu ma qaddamoo waatharahumwakulla shay-in ahsaynahu fee imamin mubeen
Indeed it is We who revive the dead and write what they have sent ahead and their effects [which they left behind], and We have figured everything in a manifest Imam.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a clear register.Saheeh International

36:13
وَ
ٱ ضْرِبْ لَهُم م َّثَلًا أَصْحَٰ بَٱ لْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَا ٓءَهَاٱ لْمُرْسَلُو نَ ١٣Wadrib lahum mathalan as-habaalqaryati ith jaaha almursaloon
Cite for them the example of the inhabitants of the town when the apostles came to it.Ali Quli Qarai
And present to them an example: the people of the city, when the messengers came to it -Saheeh International
-
36:14
إِذْ أَرْسَلْن
َآ إِلَيْهِمُٱ ثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ ۢف َقَالُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َآ إِلَيْكُم م ُّرْسَلُو نَ ١٤Ith arsalna ilayhimu ithnaynifakaththaboohuma faAAazzazna bithalithinfaqaloo inna ilaykum mursaloon
When We sent to them two [apostles], they impugned both of them. Then We reinforced them with a third, and they said, ‘We have indeed been sent to you.’Ali Quli Qarai
When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened [them] with a third, and they said, "Indeed, we are messengers to you."Saheeh International

36:15
قَالُو
ا۟ مَآ أَنت ُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ ۭم ِّثْلُنَا وَمَآ أَنز َلَٱ ل رَّحْمَٰ نُ مِن ش َىْءٍ إِنْ أَنت ُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُو نَ ١٥Qaloo ma antum illabasharun mithluna wama anzala arrahmanumin shay-in in antum illa takthiboon
They said, ‘You are no other than human beings like us, and the All-beneficent has not sent down anything, and you are only lying.’Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "You are not but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not revealed a thing. You are only telling lies."Saheeh International

36:16
قَالُو
ا۟ رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنّ َآ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُو نَ ١٦Qaloo rabbuna yaAAlamu innailaykum lamursaloon
They said, ‘Our Lord knows that we have indeed been sent to you,Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "Our Lord knows that we are messengers to you,Saheeh International
-
36:17
وَمَا عَلَيْن
َآ إِلَّاٱ لْبَلَٰ غُٱ لْمُبِي نُ ١٧Wama AAalayna illaalbalaghu almubeen
and our duty is only to communicate in clear terms.’Ali Quli Qarai
And we are not responsible except for clear notification."Saheeh International

36:18
قَال
ُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ ۖ لَئِن ل َّمْ تَنت َهُوا۟ لَنَرْجُمَنّ َكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنّ َكُم م ِّنّ َا عَذَابٌ أَلِي مٌۭ ١٨Qaloo inna tatayyarnabikum la-in lam tantahoo lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minnaAAathabun aleem
They said, ‘Indeed we take you for a bad omen. If you do not desist we will stone you, and surely a painful punishment will visit you from us.’Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment."Saheeh International

36:19
قَالُو
ا۟ طَٰٓ ئِرُكُم م َّعَكُمْ ۚ أَئِن ذ ُكِّرْتُم ۚ ب َلْ أَنت ُمْ قَوْمٌ ۭم ُّسْرِفُو نَ ١٩Qaloo ta-irukum maAAakum a-in thukkirtumbal antum qawmun musrifoon
They said, ‘Your bad omens attend you. What! If you are admonished.... Indeed, you are an unrestrained lot.’Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "Your omen [i.e., fate] is with yourselves. Is it because you were reminded? Rather, you are a transgressing people."Saheeh International

36:20
وَج
َا ٓءَ مِنْ أَقْ صَاٱ لْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ ۭي َسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَٰ قَوْمِٱ تَّبِعُوا۟ ٱ لْمُرْسَلِي نَ ٢٠Wajaa min aqsa almadeenatirajulun yasAAa qala ya qawmi ittabiAAooalmursaleen
There came a man hurrying from the city outskirts. He said, ‘O my people! Follow the apostles!Ali Quli Qarai
And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, "O my people, follow the messengers.Saheeh International
-
36:21
ٱتَّبِعُو
ا۟ مَن ل َّا يَسَْٔلُكُمْ أَجْ رً ۭا و َهُم م ُّهْتَدُو نَ ٢١IttabiAAoo man la yas-alukum ajranwahum muhtadoon
Follow them who do not ask you any reward and they are rightly guided.Ali Quli Qarai
Follow those who do not ask of you [any] payment, and they are [rightly] guided.Saheeh International
-
36:22
وَمَا لِىَ ل
َآ أَعْبُدُٱ لَّذِى فَطَرَنِى وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُو نَ ٢٢Wama liya la aAAbudu allatheefataranee wa-ilayhi turjaAAoon
Why should I not worship Him who has originated me, and to whom you shall be brought back?Ali Quli Qarai
And why should I not worship He who created me and to whom you will be returned?Saheeh International
-
36:23
ءَأَتَّخِذُ مِ
ن د ُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً إِن ي ُرِدْ نِٱ ل رَّحْمَٰ نُ بِضُرٍّ ۢل َّا تُغْنِ عَنّ ِى شَفَٰ عَتُهُمْ شَئًْ ۭا و َلَا يُنق ِذُو نِ ٢٣Aattakhithu min doonihi alihatanin yuridni arrahmanu bidurrin la tughniAAannee shafaAAatuhum shay-an wala yunqithoon
Shall I take gods besides Him? If the All-beneficent desired to cause me any distress, their intercession will not avail me in any way, nor will they rescue me.Ali Quli Qarai
Should I take other than Him [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me?Saheeh International
-
36:24
إِ
نّ ِىٓ إِذً ۭا ل َّفِى ضَلَٰ لٍ ۢم ُّبِي نٍ ٢٤Innee ithan lafee dalalinmubeen
Indeed, then I would be in manifest error.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, I would then be in manifest error.Saheeh International
-
36:25
إِ
نّ ِىٓ ءَامَنت ُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَٱ سْمَعُو نِ ٢٥Innee amantu birabbikum fasmaAAoon
Indeed I have faith in your Lord, so listen to me.’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me."Saheeh International
-
36:26
قِيلَ
ٱ دْ خُلِٱ لْجَنّ َةَ ۖ قَالَ يَٰ لَيْتَ قَوْمِى يَعْلَمُو نَ ٢٦Qeela odkhuli aljannata qala yalayta qawmee yaAAlamoon
He was told, ‘Enter paradise!’ He said, ‘Alas! Had my people only knownAli Quli Qarai
It was said, "Enter Paradise." He said, "I wish my people could knowSaheeh International
-
36:27
بِمَا غَفَرَ لِى رَبِّى وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ
ٱ لْمُكْرَمِي نَ ٢٧Bima ghafara lee rabbee wajaAAalaneemina almukrameen
for what my Lord forgave me and made me one of the honoured ones!’Ali Quli Qarai
Of how my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honored."Saheeh International
-
36:28
۞ وَم
َآ أَنز َلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنۢ ب َعْدِهِۦ مِن ج ُندٍ ۢم ِّنَٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ وَمَا كُنّ َا مُنز ِلِي نَ ٢٨Wama anzalna AAalaqawmihi min baAAdihi min jundin mina assama-i wamakunna munzileen
After him We did not send down on his people a host from the sky, nor We would have sent down.Ali Quli Qarai
And We did not send down upon his people after him any soldiers from the heaven, nor would We have done so.Saheeh International
-
36:29
إِ
ن ك َانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً ۭو َٰ حِدَةً ۭف َإِذَا هُمْ خَٰ مِدُو نَ ٢٩In kanat illa sayhatanwahidatan fa-itha hum khamidoon
It was but a single Cry, and, behold, they were stilled [like burnt ashes]!Ali Quli Qarai
It was not but one shout, and immediately they were extinguished.Saheeh International
-
36:30
يَ
ٰ حَسْرَةً عَلَىٱ لْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِم م ِّن ر َّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُو نَ ٣٠Ya hasratan AAalaalAAibadi ma ya/teehim min rasoolin illa kanoobihi yastahzi-oon
How regrettable of the servants! There did not come to them any apostle but that they used to deride him.Ali Quli Qarai
How regretful for the servants. There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him.Saheeh International
-
36:31
أَلَمْ يَرَوْ
ا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْ لَهُم م ِّنَٱ لْقُرُونِ أَنّ َهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُو نَ ٣١Alam yaraw kam ahlakna qablahum minaalqurooni annahum ilayhim la yarjiAAoon
Have they not regarded how many generations We have destroyed before them who will not come back to them?Ali Quli Qarai
Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them - that they to them will not return?Saheeh International
-
36:32
وَإِ
ن ك ُلٌّ ۭل َّمّ َا جَمِيعٌ ۭل َّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُو نَ ٣٢Wa-in kullun lamma jameeAAun ladaynamuhdaroon
And all of them will indeed be presented before Us.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, all of them will yet be brought present before Us.Saheeh International
-
36:33
وَءَايَ
ةٌ ۭل َّهُمُٱ لْأَرْضُٱ لْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَٰ هَا وَأَخْرَجْ نَا مِنْهَا حَبًّ ۭا ف َمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُو نَ ٣٣Waayatun lahumu al-ardualmaytatu ahyaynaha waakhrajna minhahabban faminhu ya/kuloon
A sign for them is the dead earth, which We revive and bring forth grain out of it, so they eat of it.Ali Quli Qarai
And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat.Saheeh International
-
36:34
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَ
نّ َٰ تٍ ۢم ِّن ن َّخِيلٍ ۢو َأَعْنَٰ بٍ ۢو َفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَٱ لْعُيُو نِ ٣٤WajaAAalna feeha jannatinmin nakheelin waaAAnabin wafajjarna feehamina alAAuyoon
We make in it orchards of date palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth in it,Ali Quli Qarai
And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs -Saheeh International
-
36:35
لِيَأْكُلُو
ا۟ مِن ث َمَرِهِۦ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُو نَ ٣٥Liya/kuloo min thamarihi wamaAAamilat-hu aydeehim afala yashkuroon
so that they may eat of its fruit and what their hands have cultivated. Will they not then give thanks?Ali Quli Qarai
That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful?Saheeh International
-
36:36
سُ
بْ حَٰ نَٱ لَّذِى خَلَقَٱ لْأَزْوَٰ جَ كُلَّهَا مِمّ َا تُنۢب ِتُٱ لْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنف ُسِهِمْ وَمِمّ َا لَا يَعْلَمُو نَ ٣٦Subhana allathee khalaqaal-azwaja kullaha mimma tunbitu al-arduwamin anfusihim wamimma la yaAAlamoon
Immaculate is He who has created all the kinds of what the earth grows, and of themselves, and of what they do not know.Ali Quli Qarai
Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know.Saheeh International
-
36:37
وَءَايَ
ةٌ ۭل َّهُمُٱ لَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُٱ ل نّ َهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم م ُّظْلِمُو نَ ٣٧Waayatun lahumu allaylu naslakhuminhu annahara fa-itha hum muthlimoon
A sign for them is the night, which We strip of daylight, and, behold, they find themselves in the dark!Ali Quli Qarai
And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it the [light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness.Saheeh International
-
36:38
وَ
ٱ ل شَّمْسُ تَجْ رِى لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ ۢل َّهَا ۚ ذَٰ لِكَ تَقْ دِيرُٱ لْعَزِيزِٱ لْعَلِي مِ ٣٨Washshamsu tajree limustaqarrin lahathalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleem
The sun runs on to its place of rest: That is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing.Ali Quli Qarai
And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.Saheeh International
-
36:39
وَ
ٱ لْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَٰ هُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱ لْعُرْجُونِٱ لْقَدِي مِ ٣٩Walqamara qaddarnahu manazilahatta AAada kalAAurjooni alqadeem
As for the moon, We have ordained its phases, until it becomes like an old palm leaf.Ali Quli Qarai
And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk.Saheeh International
-
36:40
لَا
ٱ ل شَّمْسُ يَنۢب َغِى لَهَآ أَن ت ُدْ رِكَٱ لْقَمَرَ وَلَاٱ لَّيْلُ سَابِقُٱ ل نّ َهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ ۭف ِى فَلَكٍ ۢي َسْبَحُو نَ ٤٠La ashshamsu yanbaghee lahaan tudrika alqamara wala allaylu sabiqu annahariwakullun fee falakin yasbahoon
Neither it behooves the sun to overtake the moon, nor may the night outrun the day, and each swims in an orbit.Ali Quli Qarai
It is not allowable [i.e., possible] for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.Saheeh International
-
36:41
وَءَايَ
ةٌ ۭل َّهُمْ أَنّ َا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِىٱ لْفُلْكِٱ لْمَشْحُو نِ ٤١Waayatun lahum anna hamalnathurriyyatahum fee alfulki almashhoon
A sign for them is that We carried their progeny in the laden ship,Ali Quli Qarai
And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship.Saheeh International
-
36:42
وَخَلَ
قْ نَا لَهُم م ِّن م ِّثْلِهِۦ مَا يَرْكَبُو نَ ٤٢Wakhalaqna lahum min mithlihi mayarkaboon
and We have created for them what is similar to it, which they ride.Ali Quli Qarai
And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.Saheeh International
-
36:43
وَإ
ِن ن َّشَأْ نُغْرِقْ هُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنق َذُو نَ ٤٣Wa-in nasha/ nughriqhum fala sareekhalahum wala hum yunqathoon
And if We like We drown them, whereat they have no one to call for help, nor are they rescuedAli Quli Qarai
And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be savedSaheeh International
-
36:44
إِلَّا رَحْمَ
ةً ۭم ِّنّ َا وَمَتَٰ عًا إِلَىٰ حِي نٍۢ ٤٤Illa rahmatan minnawamataAAan ila heen
except by a mercy from Us and for an enjoyment until some time.Ali Quli Qarai
Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time.Saheeh International
-
36:45
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ
ٱ تَّقُوا۟ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُو نَ ٤٥Wa-itha qeela lahumu ittaqoo mabayna aydeekum wama khalfakum laAAallakum turhamoon
And when they are told, ‘Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, so that you may receive [His] mercy…’Ali Quli Qarai
But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy..."Saheeh International
-
36:46
وَمَا تَأْتِيه
ِم م ِّنْ ءَايَةٍ ۢم ِّنْ ءَايَٰ تِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِي نَ ٤٦Wama ta/teehim min ayatin min ayatirabbihim illa kanoo AAanha muAArideen
There does not come to them any sign from among the signs of their Lord but that they have been disregarding it.Ali Quli Qarai
And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away.Saheeh International
-
36:47
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَ
نف ِقُوا۟ مِمّ َا رَزَقَكُمُٱ للَّهُ قَالَٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓ ا۟ أَنُطْ عِمُ مَن ل َّوْ يَشَا ٓءُٱ للَّهُ أَطْ عَمَهُۥٓ إِنْ أَنت ُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰ لٍ ۢم ُّبِي نٍۢ ٤٧Wa-itha qeela lahum anfiqoo mimmarazaqakumu Allahu qala allatheena kafaroolillatheena amanoo anutAAimu man law yashaoAllahu atAAamahu in antum illa fee dalalinmubeen
When they are told, ‘Spend out of what Allah has provided you,’ the faithless say to the faithful, ‘Shall we feed [someone] whom Allah would feed, if He wished? You are only in manifest error.’Ali Quli Qarai
And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allāh has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allāh had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error."Saheeh International

36:48
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَ
ٰ ذَاٱ لْوَعْدُ إِن ك ُنت ُمْ صَٰ دِقِي نَ ٤٨Wayaqooloona mata hathaalwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeen
And they say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, should you be truthful?’Ali Quli Qarai
And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"Saheeh International
-
36:49
مَا يَ
نظ ُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً ۭو َٰ حِدَةً ۭت َأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُو نَ ٤٩Ma yanthuroona illasayhatan wahidatan ta/khuthuhum wahumyakhissimoon
They do not await but a single Cry that will seize them as they wrangle.Ali Quli Qarai
They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing.Saheeh International
-
36:50
فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَ
ةً ۭو َلَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُو نَ ٥٠Fala yastateeAAoona tawsiyatanwala ila ahlihim yarjiAAoon
Then they will not be able to make any will, nor will they return to their folks.Ali Quli Qarai
And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return.Saheeh International
-
36:51
وَنُفِخَ فِى
ٱ ل صُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم م ِّنَٱ لْأَجْ دَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنس ِلُو نَ ٥١Wanufikha fee assoori fa-ithahum mina al-ajdathi ila rabbihim yansiloon
And when the Trumpet is blown, behold, there they will be, scrambling towards their Lord from their graves!Ali Quli Qarai
And the Horn will be blown; and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.Saheeh International

36:52
قَالُو
ا۟ يَٰ وَيْلَنَا مَنۢ ب َعَثَنَا مِن م َّرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗ هَٰ ذَا مَا وَعَدَٱ ل رَّحْمَٰ نُ وَصَدَقَٱ لْمُرْسَلُو نَ ٥٢Qaloo ya waylana manbaAAathana min marqadina hatha mawaAAada arrahmanu wasadaqaalmursaloon
They will say, ‘Woe to us! Who raised us from our place of sleep?’ ‘This is what the All-beneficent had promised, and the apostles had spoken the truth!’Ali Quli Qarai
They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?" [The reply will be], "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth."Saheeh International

36:53
إِ
ن ك َانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً ۭو َٰ حِدَةً ۭف َإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ ۭل َّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُو نَ ٥٣In kanat illa sayhatanwahidatan fa-itha hum jameeAAun ladayna muhdaroon
It will be but a single Cry, and, behold, they will all be presented before Us!Ali Quli Qarai
It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us.Saheeh International
-
36:54
فَ
ٱ لْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ ۭش َئًْ ۭا و َلَا تُجْ زَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنت ُمْ تَعْمَلُو نَ ٥٤Falyawma la tuthlamunafsun shay-an wala tujzawna illa ma kuntumtaAAmaloon
‘Today no soul will be wronged in the least, nor will you be requited except for what you used to do.’Ali Quli Qarai
So today [i.e., the Day of Judgement] no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do.Saheeh International

36:55
إِ
نّ َ أَصْحَٰ بَٱ لْجَنّ َةِٱ لْيَوْمَ فِى شُغُلٍ ۢف َٰ كِهُو نَ ٥٥Inna as-haba aljannati alyawmafee shughulin fakihoon
Indeed today the inhabitants of paradise rejoice in their engagementsAli Quli Qarai
Indeed the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in [joyful] occupation -Saheeh International
-
36:56
هُمْ وَأَزْوَ
ٰ جُهُمْ فِى ظِلَٰ لٍ عَلَىٱ لْأَرَا ٓئِكِ مُتَّكُِٔو نَ ٥٦Hum waazwajuhum fee thilalinAAala al-ara-iki muttaki-oon
—they and their mates, reclining on couches in the shades.Ali Quli Qarai
They and their spouses - in shade, reclining on adorned couches.Saheeh International
-
36:57
لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَ
ٰ كِهَةٌ ۭو َلَهُم م َّا يَدَّعُو نَ ٥٧Lahum feeha fakihatun walahumma yaddaAAoon
There they have fruits, and they have whatever they want.Ali Quli Qarai
For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they request [or wish]Saheeh International
-
36:58
سَلَ
ٰ مٌ ۭق َوْلً ۭام ِّن ر َّبٍّ ۢر َّحِي مٍۢ ٥٨Salamun qawlan min rabbin raheem
‘Peace!’—a watchword from the all-merciful Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
[And] "Peace," a word from a Merciful Lord.Saheeh International
-
36:59
وَ
ٱ مْتَٰ زُوا۟ ٱ لْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَاٱ لْمُجْ رِمُو نَ ٥٩Wamtazoo alyawma ayyuhaalmujrimoon
And ‘Get apart today, you guilty ones!’Ali Quli Qarai
[Then He will say], "But stand apart today, you criminals.Saheeh International
-
36:60
۞ أَلَمْ أَعْهَ
دْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَٰ بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ أَن ل َّا تَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱ ل شَّيْطَٰ نَ ۖ إِنّ َهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ ۭم ُّبِي نٌۭ ٦٠Alam aAAhad ilaykum ya banee adamaan la taAAbudoo ashshaytana innahu lakumAAaduwwun mubeen
‘Did I not exhort you, O children of Adam, saying, “Do not worship Satan. He is indeed your manifest enemy.Ali Quli Qarai
Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan - [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy -Saheeh International
-
36:61
وَأَنِ
ٱ عْبُدُونِى ۚ هَٰ ذَا صِرَٰ طٌ ۭم ُّسْتَقِي مٌۭ ٦١Waani oAAbudoonee hatha siratunmustaqeem
Worship Me. That is a straight path”?Ali Quli Qarai
And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path.Saheeh International
-
36:62
وَلَقَ
دْ أَضَلَّ مِنك ُمْ جِبِلًّ ۭاك َثِيرًا ۖ أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا۟ تَعْقِلُو نَ ٦٢Walaqad adalla minkum jibillankatheeran afalam takoonoo taAAqiloon
Certainly, he has led astray many of your generations. Have you not exercised your reason?Ali Quli Qarai
And he had already led astray from among you much of creation, so did you not use reason?Saheeh International
-
36:63
هَ
ٰ ذِهِۦ جَهَنّ َمُٱ لَّتِى كُنت ُمْ تُوعَدُو نَ ٦٣Hathihi jahannamu allatee kuntumtooAAadoon
This is the hell you had been promised!Ali Quli Qarai
This is the Hellfire which you were promised.Saheeh International
-
36:64
ٱصْلَوْهَا
ٱ لْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنت ُمْ تَكْفُرُو نَ ٦٤Islawha alyawma bimakuntum takfuroon
Enter it today, because of what you used to deny.Ali Quli Qarai
[Enter to] burn therein today for what you used to deny."Saheeh International
-
36:65
ٱلْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَ
ىٰٓ أَفْوَٰ هِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَآ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم ب ِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُو نَ ٦٥Alyawma nakhtimu AAala afwahihimwatukallimuna aydeehim watashhadu arjuluhum bima kanooyaksiboon
Today We shall seal their mouths, and their hands shall speak to Us, and their feet shall bear witness concerning what they used to earn.’Ali Quli Qarai
That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.Saheeh International
-
36:66
وَلَوْ نَش
َا ٓءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَٱ سْتَبَقُوا۟ ٱ ل صِّرَٰ طَ فَأَنّ َىٰ يُبْ صِرُو نَ ٦٦Walaw nashao latamasnaAAala aAAyunihim fastabaqoo assiratafaanna yubsiroon
Had We wished We would have blotted out their eyes: then, were they to advance towards the path, how would have they seen?Ali Quli Qarai
And if We willed, We could have obliterated their eyes, and they would race to [find] the path, and how could they see?Saheeh International
-
36:67
وَلَوْ نَش
َا ٓءُ لَمَسَخْنَٰ هُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَاٱ سْتَطَٰ عُوا۟ مُضِيًّ ۭا و َلَا يَرْجِعُو نَ ٦٧Walaw nashao lamasakhnahumAAala makanatihim fama istataAAoo mudiyyanwala yarjiAAoon
And had We wished We would have deformed them in their place; then they would neither have been able to move ahead nor to return.Ali Quli Qarai
And if We willed, We could have deformed them, [paralyzing them] in their places so they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.Saheeh International
-
36:68
وَم
َن ن ُّعَمّ ِرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِىٱ لْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُو نَ ٦٨Waman nuAAammirhu nunakkis-hu fee alkhalqiafala yaAAqiloon
And whomever We give a long life, We cause him to regress in creation. Then, will they not exercise their reason?Ali Quli Qarai
And he to whom We grant long life We reverse in creation; so will they not understand?Saheeh International
-
36:69
وَمَا عَلَّمْنَ
ٰ هُٱ ل شِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنۢب َغِى لَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ ۭو َقُرْءَانٌ ۭم ُّبِي نٌۭ ٦٩Wama AAallamnahu ashshiAArawama yanbaghee lahu in huwa illa thikrunwaqur-anun mubeen
We did not teach him poetry, nor does it behoove him. This is just a reminder and a manifest Quran,Ali Quli Qarai
And We did not give him [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur’ānSaheeh International
-
36:70
لِّيُ
نذ ِرَ مَن ك َانَ حَيًّ ۭا و َيَحِقَّٱ لْقَوْلُ عَلَىٱ لْكَٰ فِرِي نَ ٧٠Liyunthira man kana hayyanwayahiqqa alqawlu AAala alkafireen
so that anyone who is alive may be warned, and that the word may come due against the faithless.Ali Quli Qarai
To warn whoever is alive and justify the word [i.e., decree] against the disbelievers.Saheeh International
-
36:71
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْ
ا۟ أَنّ َا خَلَقْ نَا لَهُم م ِّمّ َا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَآ أَنْعَٰ مً ۭا ف َهُمْ لَهَا مَٰ لِكُو نَ ٧١Awa lam yaraw anna khalaqnalahum mimma AAamilat aydeena anAAaman fahumlaha malikoon
Have they not seen that We have created for them—of what Our hands have worked—cattle, so they have become their masters?Ali Quli Qarai
Do they not see that We have created for them from what Our hands have made, grazing livestock, and [then] they are their owners?Saheeh International
-
36:72
وَذَلَّلْنَ
ٰ هَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُو نَ ٧٢Wathallalnaha lahumfaminha rakoobuhum waminha ya/kuloon
And We made them tractable for them; so some of them make their mounts and some of them they eat.Ali Quli Qarai
And We have tamed them for them, so some of them they ride, and some of them they eat.Saheeh International
-
36:73
وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَ
ٰ فِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُو نَ ٧٣Walahum feeha manafiAAu wamasharibuafala yashkuroon
There are other benefits for them therein, and drinks. Will they not then give thanks?Ali Quli Qarai
And for them therein are [other] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful?Saheeh International
-
36:74
وَ
ٱ تَّخَذُوا۟ مِن د ُونِٱ للَّهِ ءَالِهَةً ۭل َّعَلَّهُمْ يُنص َرُو نَ ٧٤Wattakhathoo min dooni Allahialihatan laAAallahum yunsaroon
They have taken gods besides Allah, [hoping] that they might be helped [by the fake deities].Ali Quli Qarai
But they have taken besides Allāh [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.Saheeh International
-
36:75
لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُن
دٌ ۭم ُّحْضَرُو نَ ٧٥La yastateeAAoona nasrahumwahum lahum jundun muhdaroon
[But] they cannot help them, while they [themselves] are an army mobilized for their defence.Ali Quli Qarai
They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance.Saheeh International
-
36:76
فَلَا يَحْزُ
نك َ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنّ َا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُو نَ ٧٦Fala yahzunka qawluhum innanaAAlamu ma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoon
So do not let their remarks grieve you. We indeed know whatever they hide and whatever they disclose.Ali Quli Qarai
So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they declare.Saheeh International
-
36:77
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ
ٱ لْإِنس َٰ نُ أَنّ َا خَلَقْ نَٰ هُ مِن ن ُّطْ فَةٍ ۢف َإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ ۭم ُّبِي نٌۭ ٧٧Awa lam yara al-insanu annakhalaqnahu min nutfatin fa-itha huwa khaseemunmubeen
Does not man see that We created him from a drop of [seminal] fluid, and, behold, he is an open contender!?Ali Quli Qarai
Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary?Saheeh International
-
36:78
وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَل
ً ۭاو َنَسِىَ خَلْقَهُۥ ۖ قَالَ مَن ي ُحْىِٱ لْعِظَٰ مَ وَهِىَ رَمِي مٌۭ ٧٨Wadaraba lana mathalanwanasiya khalqahu qala man yuhyee alAAithamawahiya rameem
He draws comparisons for Us, and forgets his own creation. He says, ‘Who shall revive the bones when they have decayed?’Ali Quli Qarai
And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"Saheeh International
-
36:79
قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا
ٱ لَّذِىٓ أَنش َأَهَآ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۢۖ و َهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِي مٌ ٧٩Qul yuhyeeha allatheeanshaaha awwala marratin wahuwa bikulli khalqin AAaleem
Say, ‘He will revive them who produced them the first time, and He has knowledge of all creation.Ali Quli Qarai
Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing."Saheeh International
-
36:80
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَك
ُم م ِّنَٱ ل شَّجَرِٱ لْأَخْضَرِ نَارً ۭا ف َإِذَآ أَنت ُم م ِّنْهُ تُوقِدُو نَ ٨٠Allathee jaAAala lakum mina ashshajarial-akhdari naran fa-itha antum minhutooqidoon
He, who made for you fire out of the green tree, and, behold, you light fire from it!Ali Quli Qarai
[It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.Saheeh International
-
36:81
أَوَلَيْسَ
ٱ لَّذِى خَلَقَٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضَ بِقَٰ دِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن ي َخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ ب َلَىٰ وَهُوَٱ لْخَلَّٰ قُٱ لْعَلِي مُ ٨١Awa laysa allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda biqadirin AAala an yakhluqamithlahum bala wahuwa alkhallaqu alAAaleem
Is not He who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them? Yes indeed! He is the All-creator, the All-knowing.Ali Quli Qarai
Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator.Saheeh International
-
36:82
إِ
نّ َمَآ أَمْرُهُۥٓ إِذَآ أَرَادَ شَئًْا أَن ي َقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن ف َيَكُو نُ ٨٢Innama amruhu itha aradashay-an an yaqoola lahu kun fayakoon
All His command, when He wills something, is to say to it ‘Be,’ and it is.Ali Quli Qarai
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.Saheeh International
-
36:83
فَسُ
بْ حَٰ نَٱ لَّذِى بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۢو َإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُو نَ ٨٣Fasubhana allathee biyadihimalakootu kulli shay-in wa-ilayhi turjaAAoon
So immaculate is He in whose hand is the dominion of all things, and to whom you shall be brought back.Ali Quli Qarai
So exalted is He in whose hand is the realm of all things, and to Him you will be returned.Saheeh International
