بِسْمِ
-
37:1
وَ
ٱ ل صَّٰٓ فَّٰ تِ صَفًّۭا ١Wassaffati saffa
By the [angels] ranged in ranks,Ali Quli Qarai
By those [angels] lined up in rowsSaheeh International
-
37:2
فَ
ٱ ل زَّٰ جِرَٰ تِ زَجْ رًۭا ٢Fazzajirati zajra
by the ones who drive [the clouds] vigorously,Ali Quli Qarai
And those who drive [the clouds]Saheeh International
-
37:3
فَ
ٱ ل تَّٰ لِيَٰ تِ ذِكْرًا ٣Fattaliyati thikra
by the ones who recite the reminder:Ali Quli Qarai
And those who recite the message,Saheeh International
-
37:4
إِ
نّ َ إِلَٰ هَكُمْ لَوَٰ حِد ٌۭ ٤Inna ilahakum lawahid
indeed your God is certainly One,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, your God is One,Saheeh International
-
37:5
رَّبُّ
ٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّٱ لْمَشَٰ رِق ِ ٥Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma warabbu almashariq
the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and the Lord of the easts.Ali Quli Qarai
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.Saheeh International
-
37:6
إِ
نّ َا زَيَّنّ َاٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءَٱ ل دُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍٱ لْكَوَاكِب ِ ٦Inna zayyanna assamaaaddunya bizeenatin alkawakib
Indeed We have adorned the lowest heaven with the finery of the stars,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of starsSaheeh International
-
37:7
وَحِفْ
ظً ۭا م ِّن ك ُلِّ شَيْطَٰ نٍ ۢم َّارِد ٍۢ ٧Wahifthan min kulli shaytaninmarid
and to guard from any froward devil.Ali Quli Qarai
And as protection against every rebellious devilSaheeh International
-
37:8
لَّا يَسَّ
مّ َعُونَ إِلَىٱ لْمَلَإِٱ لْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْ ذَفُونَ مِن ك ُلِّ جَانِب ٍۢ ٨La yassammaAAoona ila almala-ial-aAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janib
They do not eavesdrop on the Supernal Elite—they are shot at from every side,Ali Quli Qarai
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,Saheeh International
-
37:9
دُحُو
رً ۭا ۖ و َلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ ۭو َاصِب ٌ ٩Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasib
to drive them away, and there is a perpetual punishment for them—Ali Quli Qarai
Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,Saheeh International
-
37:10
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ
ٱ لْخَطْ فَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ۭث َاقِب ٌۭ ١٠Illa man khatifa alkhatfatafaatbaAAahu shihabun thaqib
except any who snatches a snatch, whereat a piercing flame pursues him.Ali Quli Qarai
Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].Saheeh International
-
37:11
فَ
ٱ سْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم م َّنْ خَلَقْ نَآ ۚ إِنّ َا خَلَقْ نَٰ هُم م ِّن ط ِينٍ ۢل َّازِب ٍۭ ١١Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan amman khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teeninlazib
Ask them, is their creation more prodigious or [that of other creatures] that We have created? Indeed, We created them from a viscous clay.Ali Quli Qarai
Then inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created them [i.e., men] from sticky clay.Saheeh International
-
37:12
بَلْ عَجِ
بْ تَ وَيَسْخَرُو نَ ١٢Bal AAajibta wayaskharoon
Indeed you wonder, while they engage in ridicule,Ali Quli Qarai
But you wonder, while they mock,Saheeh International
-
37:13
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُو
ا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُو نَ ١٣Wa-itha thukkiroo la yathkuroon
and [even] when admonished do not take admonition,Ali Quli Qarai
And when they are reminded, they remember not.Saheeh International
-
37:14
وَإِذَا رَأَوْ
ا۟ ءَايَةً ۭي َسْتَسْخِرُو نَ ١٤Wa-itha raaw ayatanyastaskhiroon
and when they see a sign they make it an object of ridicule,Ali Quli Qarai
And when they see a sign, they ridicule.Saheeh International
-
37:15
وَقَال
ُوٓ ا۟ إِنْ هَٰ ذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ ۭم ُّبِي نٌ ١٥Waqaloo in hatha illasihrun mubeen
and say, ‘This is nothing but plain magic!’Ali Quli Qarai
And say, "This is not but obvious magic.Saheeh International
-
37:16
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُ
نّ َا تُرَابً ۭا و َعِظَٰ مًا أَءِنّ َا لَمَبْ عُوثُو نَ ١٦A-itha mitna wakunnaturaban waAAithaman a-innalamabAAoothoon
‘What! When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected?Ali Quli Qarai
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?Saheeh International
-
37:17
أَوَءَاب
َا ٓؤُنَاٱ لْأَوَّلُو نَ ١٧Awa abaona al-awwaloon
And our forefathers too?!’Ali Quli Qarai
And our forefathers [as well]?"Saheeh International
-
37:18
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَ
نت ُمْ دَٰ خِرُو نَ ١٨Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroon
Say, ‘Yes! And you will be utterly humble.’Ali Quli Qarai
Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."Saheeh International
-
37:19
فَإِ
نّ َمَا هِىَ زَجْ رَةٌ ۭو َٰ حِدَةٌ ۭف َإِذَا هُمْ يَنظ ُرُو نَ ١٩Fa-innama hiya zajratun wahidatunfa-itha hum yanthuroon
It will be only a single shout and, behold, they will look on,Ali Quli Qarai
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.Saheeh International
-
37:20
وَقَالُو
ا۟ يَٰ وَيْلَنَا هَٰ ذَا يَوْمُٱ ل دِّي نِ ٢٠Waqaloo ya waylana hathayawmu addeen
and say, ‘Woe to us! This is the Day of Retribution!’Ali Quli Qarai
They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."Saheeh International
-
37:21
هَ
ٰ ذَا يَوْمُٱ لْفَصْلِٱ لَّذِى كُنت ُم ب ِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُو نَ ٢١Hatha yawmu alfasli allatheekuntum bihi tukaththiboon
‘This is the Day of Judgement that you used to deny!’Ali Quli Qarai
[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."Saheeh International
-
37:22
۞ ٱحْشُرُو
ا۟ ٱ لَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰ جَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُو نَ ٢٢Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoowaazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoon
‘Muster the wrongdoers and their mates and what they used to worshipAli Quli Qarai
[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worshipSaheeh International
-
37:23
مِ
ن د ُونِٱ للَّهِ فَٱ هْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰ طِٱ لْجَحِي مِ ٢٣Min dooni Allahi fahdoohum ilasirati aljaheem
besides Allah, and show them the way to hell!Ali Quli Qarai
Other than Allāh, and guide them to the path of HellfireSaheeh International
-
37:24
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِ
نّ َهُم م َّسُْٔولُو نَ ٢٤Waqifoohum innahum masooloon
[But first] stop them! For they must be questioned.’Ali Quli Qarai
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."Saheeh International
-
37:25
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَر
ُو نَ ٢٥Ma lakum la tanasaroon
‘Why is it that you do not support one another [today]?’Ali Quli Qarai
[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"Saheeh International
-
37:26
بَلْ هُمُ
ٱ لْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُو نَ ٢٦Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoon
‘Indeed, they are [meek and] submissive today!’Ali Quli Qarai
But they, that Day, are in surrender.Saheeh International
-
37:27
وَأَ
قْ بَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۢي َتَسَا ٓءَلُو نَ ٢٧Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloon
Some of them will turn to others, questioning each other.Ali Quli Qarai
And they will approach one another asking [i.e., blaming] each other.Saheeh International
-
37:28
قَال
ُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َكُمْ كُنت ُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِٱ لْيَمِي نِ ٢٨Qaloo innakum kuntum ta/toonanaAAani alyameen
They will say, ‘Indeed you used to accost us peremptorily.’Ali Quli Qarai
They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."Saheeh International
-
37:29
قَالُو
ا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِي نَ ٢٩Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mu/mineen
They will answer, ‘No, you [yourselves] had no faith.Ali Quli Qarai
They [i.e., the oppressors] will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,Saheeh International
-
37:30
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْك
ُم م ِّن س ُلْطَٰ نٍۭ ۖ ب َلْ كُنت ُمْ قَوْمً ۭا ط َٰ غِي نَ ٣٠Wama kana lanaAAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheen
We had no authority over you. No, you [yourselves] were a rebellious lot.Ali Quli Qarai
And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.Saheeh International
-
37:31
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّن
َآ ۖ إِنّ َا لَذَا ٓئِقُو نَ ٣١Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbinainna latha-iqoon
So our Lord’s word became due against us that we shall indeed taste [the punishment].Ali Quli Qarai
So the word [i.e., decree] of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].Saheeh International
-
37:32
فَأَغْوَيْنَ
ٰ كُمْ إِنّ َا كُنّ َا غَٰ وِي نَ ٣٢Faaghwaynakum inna kunnaghaween
So we perverted you, for we were perverse [ourselves].’Ali Quli Qarai
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."Saheeh International
-
37:33
فَإِ
نّ َهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ۢف ِىٱ لْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُو نَ ٣٣Fa-innahum yawma-ithin fee alAAathabimushtarikoon
So, that day they will share the punishment.Ali Quli Qarai
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.Saheeh International
-
37:34
إِ
نّ َا كَذَٰ لِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱ لْمُجْ رِمِي نَ ٣٤Inna kathalika nafAAalu bilmujrimeen
Indeed, that is how We deal with the guilty.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.Saheeh International
-
37:35
إِ
نّ َهُمْ كَانُوٓ ا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰ هَ إِلَّاٱ للَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُو نَ ٣٥Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahumla ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroon
Indeed, it was they who, when they were told, ‘There is no god except Allah,’ used to be disdainful,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allāh," were arrogantSaheeh International
-
37:36
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِ
نّ َا لَتَارِكُوٓ ا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ ۢم َّجْ نُو نٍۭ ٣٦Wayaqooloona a-inna latarikoo alihatinalishaAAirin majnoon
and [they would] say, ‘Shall we abandon our gods for a crazy poet?’Ali Quli Qarai
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"Saheeh International
-
37:37
بَلْ ج
َا ٓءَ بِٱ لْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَٱ لْمُرْسَلِي نَ ٣٧Bal jaa bilhaqqi wasaddaqaalmursaleen
Indeed, he has brought [them] the truth, and confirmed the [earlier] apostles.Ali Quli Qarai
Rather, he [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.Saheeh International
-
37:38
إِ
نّ َكُمْ لَذَا ٓئِقُوا۟ ٱ لْعَذَابِٱ لْأَلِي مِ ٣٨Innakum latha-iqoo alAAathabial-aleem
Indeed you will taste the painful punishment,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,Saheeh International
-
37:39
وَمَا تُ
جْ زَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنت ُمْ تَعْمَلُو نَ ٣٩Wama tujzawna illa makuntum taAAmaloon
and you will be requited only for what you used to doAli Quli Qarai
And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -Saheeh International
-
37:40
إِلَّا عِبَادَ
ٱ للَّهِٱ لْمُخْلَصِي نَ ٤٠Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
—[all] except Allah’s exclusive servants.Ali Quli Qarai
But not the chosen servants of Allāh.Saheeh International
-
37:41
أُ
و۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ ۭم َّعْلُو مٌۭ ٤١Ola-ika lahum rizqun maAAloom
For such there is a known provisionAli Quli Qarai
Those will have a provision determined -Saheeh International
-
37:42
فَوَ
ٰ كِهُ ۖ وَهُم م ُّكْرَمُو نَ ٤٢Fawakihu wahum mukramoon
—fruits—and they will be held in honour,Ali Quli Qarai
Fruits; and they will be honoredSaheeh International
-
37:43
فِى جَ
نّ َٰ تِٱ ل نّ َعِي مِ ٤٣Fee jannati annaAAeem
in the gardens of bliss,Ali Quli Qarai
In gardens of pleasureSaheeh International
-
37:44
عَلَىٰ سُرُ
رٍ ۢم ُّتَقَٰ بِلِي نَ ٤٤AAala sururin mutaqabileen
[reclining] on couches, facing one another,Ali Quli Qarai
On thrones facing one another.Saheeh International
-
37:45
يُطَافُ عَلَيْه
ِم ب ِكَأْسٍ ۢم ِّن م َّعِي نٍۭ ٤٥Yutafu AAalayhim bika/sin min maAAeen
served around with a cup, from a clear fountain,Ali Quli Qarai
There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,Saheeh International
-
37:46
بَيْض
َا ٓءَ لَذَّةٍ ۢل ِّلشَّٰ رِبِي نَ ٤٦Baydaa laththatin lishsharibeen
snow-white, delicious to the drinkers,Ali Quli Qarai
White and delicious to the drinkers;Saheeh International
-
37:47
لَا فِيهَا غَوْ
لٌ ۭو َلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنز َفُو نَ ٤٧La feeha ghawlun walahum AAanha yunzafoon
wherein there will be neither headache nor will it cause them stupefaction,Ali Quli Qarai
No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.Saheeh International
-
37:48
وَعِ
ند َهُمْ قَٰ صِرَٰ تُٱ ل طَّرْفِ عِي نٌۭ ٤٨WaAAindahum qasiratu attarfiAAeen
and with them will be maidens, of restrained glances with big [beautiful] eyes,Ali Quli Qarai
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,Saheeh International
-
37:49
كَأَ
نّ َهُنّ َ بَيْضٌ ۭم َّكْنُو نٌۭ ٤٩Kaannahunna baydun maknoon
as if they were hidden ostrich eggs.Ali Quli Qarai
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.Saheeh International
-
37:50
فَأَ
قْ بَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۢي َتَسَا ٓءَلُو نَ ٥٠Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloon
Some of them will turn to others, questioning each other.Ali Quli Qarai
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.Saheeh International
-
37:51
قَالَ ق
َا ٓئِلٌ ۭم ِّنْهُمْ إِنّ ِى كَانَ لِى قَرِي نٌۭ ٥١Qala qa-ilun minhum innee kanalee qareen
One of them will say, ‘Indeed I had a companionAli Quli Qarai
A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth].Saheeh International
-
37:52
يَقُولُ أَءِ
نّ َكَ لَمِنَٱ لْمُصَدِّقِي نَ ٥٢Yaqoolu a-innaka lamina almusaddiqeen
who used to say, ‘‘Are you really among those who affirmAli Quli Qarai
Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believeSaheeh International
-
37:53
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُ
نّ َا تُرَابً ۭا و َعِظَٰ مًا أَءِنّ َا لَمَدِينُو نَ ٥٣A-itha mitna wakunnaturaban waAAithaman a-innalamadeenoon
that when we have died and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to retribution?’’ ’Ali Quli Qarai
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"Saheeh International
-
37:54
قَالَ هَلْ أَ
نت ُم م ُّطَّلِعُو نَ ٥٤Qala hal antum muttaliAAoon
He will say, ‘Will you have a look?’Ali Quli Qarai
He will say, "Would you [care to] look?"Saheeh International
-
37:55
فَ
ٱ طَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَا ٓءِٱ لْجَحِي مِ ٥٥FattalaAAa faraahu feesawa-i aljaheem
Then he will take a look and sight him in the middle of hell.Ali Quli Qarai
And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.Saheeh International
-
37:56
قَالَ تَ
ٱ للَّهِ إِن ك ِد تَّ لَتُرْدِي نِ ٥٦Qala tallahi in kidtalaturdeen
He will say, ‘By Allah, you had almost ruined me!Ali Quli Qarai
He will say, "By Allāh, you almost ruined me.Saheeh International
-
37:57
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُ
نت ُ مِنَٱ لْمُحْضَرِي نَ ٥٧Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu minaalmuhdareen
Had it not been for my Lord’s blessing, I too would have been among those mustered [in hell]!’Ali Quli Qarai
If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].Saheeh International
-
37:58
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّت
ِي نَ ٥٨Afama nahnu bimayyiteen
‘Is it [true] that we shall not die [anymore],Ali Quli Qarai
Then, are we not to dieSaheeh International
-
37:59
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا
ٱ لْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِي نَ ٥٩Illa mawtatana al-oolawama nahnu bimuAAaththabeen
aside from our earlier death, and that we shall not be punished?Ali Quli Qarai
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"Saheeh International
-
37:60
إِ
نّ َ هَٰ ذَا لَهُوَٱ لْفَوْزُٱ لْعَظِي مُ ٦٠Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheem
This is indeed the supreme triumph!’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, this is the great attainment.Saheeh International
-
37:61
لِمِثْلِ هَ
ٰ ذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِٱ لْعَٰ مِلُو نَ ٦١Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloon
Let all workers work for the like of this!Ali Quli Qarai
For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.Saheeh International
-
37:62
أَذَ
ٰ لِكَ خَيْرٌ ۭن ُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُٱ ل زَّقُّو مِ ٦٢Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratuazzaqqoom
Is this a better reception, or the Zaqqum tree?Ali Quli Qarai
Is that [i.e., Paradise] a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqūm?Saheeh International
-
37:63
إِ
نّ َا جَعَلْنَٰ هَا فِتْنَةً ۭل ِّلظَّٰ لِمِي نَ ٦٣Inna jaAAalnahafitnatan liththalimeen
Indeed We have made it a punishment for the wrongdoers.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.Saheeh International
-
37:64
إِ
نّ َهَا شَجَرَةٌ ۭت َخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِٱ لْجَحِي مِ ٦٤Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee aslialjaheem
It is a tree that rises from the depths of hell.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,Saheeh International
-
37:65
طَلْعُهَا كَأَ
نّ َهُۥ رُءُوسُٱ ل شَّيَٰ طِي نِ ٦٥TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu ashshayateen
Its spathes are as if they were devils’ heads.Ali Quli Qarai
Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.Saheeh International
-
37:66
فَإِ
نّ َهُمْ لََٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالُِٔونَ مِنْهَاٱ لْبُطُو نَ ٦٦Fa-innahum laakiloona minhafamali-oona minha albutoon
They will eat from it and gorge with it their bellies.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.Saheeh International
-
37:67
ثُ
مّ َ إِنّ َ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبً ۭا م ِّنْ حَمِي مٍۢ ٦٧Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawbanmin hameem
On top of that they will take a solution of scalding water.Ali Quli Qarai
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.Saheeh International
-
37:68
ثُ
مّ َ إِنّ َ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَىٱ لْجَحِي مِ ٦٨Thumma inna marjiAAahum la-ila aljaheem
Then their retreat will be toward hell.Ali Quli Qarai
Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.Saheeh International
-
37:69
إِ
نّ َهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَا ٓءَهُمْ ضَا ٓلِّي نَ ٦٩Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleen
They had found their fathers astray,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed they found their fathers astray.Saheeh International
-
37:70
فَهُمْ عَلَ
ىٰٓ ءَاثَٰ رِهِمْ يُهْرَعُو نَ ٧٠Fahum AAala atharihimyuhraAAoon
yet they press onwards in their footsteps.Ali Quli Qarai
So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.Saheeh International
-
37:71
وَلَقَ
دْ ضَلَّ قَبْ لَهُمْ أَكْثَرُٱ لْأَوَّلِي نَ ٧١Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharual-awwaleen
Most of the former peoples went astray before them,Ali Quli Qarai
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,Saheeh International
-
37:72
وَلَقَ
دْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم م ُّنذ ِرِي نَ ٧٢Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireen
and We had certainly sent warners among them.Ali Quli Qarai
And We had already sent among them warners.Saheeh International
-
37:73
فَ
ٱ نظ ُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰ قِبَةُٱ لْمُنذ َرِي نَ ٧٣Fanthur kayfa kanaAAaqibatu almunthareen
So observe how was the fate of those who were warnedAli Quli Qarai
Then look how was the end of those who were warned -Saheeh International
-
37:74
إِلَّا عِبَادَ
ٱ للَّهِٱ لْمُخْلَصِي نَ ٧٤Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
—[all] except Allah’s exclusive servants!Ali Quli Qarai
But not the chosen servants of Allāh.Saheeh International
-
37:75
وَلَقَ
دْ نَادَىٰ نَا نُوحٌ ۭف َلَنِعْمَٱ لْمُجِيبُو نَ ٧٥Walaqad nadana noohunfalaniAAma almujeeboon
Certainly Noah called out to Us, and how well did We respond!Ali Quli Qarai
And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.Saheeh International
-
37:76
وَنَجَّيْنَ
ٰ هُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَٱ لْكَرْبِٱ لْعَظِي مِ ٧٦Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbialAAatheem
We delivered him and his family from their great distress,Ali Quli Qarai
And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.Saheeh International
-
37:77
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ
ۥ هُمُٱ لْبَاقِي نَ ٧٧WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humualbaqeen
and made his descendants the survivors,Ali Quli Qarai
And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]Saheeh International
-
37:78
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى
ٱ لَْٔاخِرِي نَ ٧٨Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen
and left for him a good name among posterity:Ali Quli Qarai
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:Saheeh International
-
37:79
سَلَ
ٰ مٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ ۢف ِىٱ لْعَٰ لَمِي نَ ٧٩Salamun AAala noohinfee alAAalameen
‘Peace to Noah, throughout the nations!’Ali Quli Qarai
"Peace upon Noah among the worlds."Saheeh International
-
37:80
إِ
نّ َا كَذَٰ لِكَ نَجْ زِىٱ لْمُحْسِنِي نَ ٨٠Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Thus do We reward the virtuous.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.Saheeh International
-
37:81
إِ
نّ َهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَاٱ لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ ٨١Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen
He is indeed one of Our faithful servants.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.Saheeh International
-
37:82
ثُ
مّ َ أَغْرَقْ نَاٱ لَْٔاخَرِي نَ ٨٢Thumma aghraqna al-akhareen
Then We drowned the rest.Ali Quli Qarai
Then We drowned the others [i.e., disbelievers].Saheeh International
-
37:83
۞ وَإِ
نّ َ مِن ش ِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْ رَٰ هِي مَ ٨٣Wa-inna min sheeAAatihi la-ibraheem
Indeed Abraham was among his followers,Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,Saheeh International
-
37:84
إِذْ ج
َا ٓءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ ۢس َلِي مٍ ٨٤Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbinsaleem
when he came to his Lord with a sound heart [untainted by sin].Ali Quli Qarai
When he came to his Lord with a sound heartSaheeh International
-
37:85
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِه
ِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُو نَ ٨٥Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mathataAAbudoon
When he said to his father and his people, ‘What is it that you are worshiping?Ali Quli Qarai
[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?Saheeh International
-
37:86
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَ
ةً ۭد ُونَٱ للَّهِ تُرِيدُو نَ ٨٦A-ifkan alihatan doona Allahitureedoon
Is it a lie, gods other than Allah, that you desire?Ali Quli Qarai
Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allāh you desire?Saheeh International
-
37:87
فَمَا ظَ
نّ ُكُم ب ِرَبِّٱ لْعَٰ لَمِي نَ ٨٧Fama thannukum birabbialAAalameen
Then what is your idea about the Lord of all the worlds?’Ali Quli Qarai
Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"Saheeh International
-
37:88
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَ
ةً ۭف ِىٱ ل نّ ُجُو مِ ٨٨Fanathara nathratanfee annujoom
Then he made an observation of the starsAli Quli Qarai
And he cast a look at the starsSaheeh International
-
37:89
فَقَالَ إِ
نّ ِى سَقِي مٌۭ ٨٩Faqala innee saqeem
and said, ‘Indeed I am sick!’Ali Quli Qarai
And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."Saheeh International
-
37:90
فَتَوَلَّوْ
ا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْ بِرِي نَ ٩٠Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireen
So they went away leaving him behind.Ali Quli Qarai
So they turned away from him, departing.Saheeh International
-
37:91
فَرَاغَ إِلَ
ىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُو نَ ٩١Faragha ila alihatihimfaqala ala ta/kuloon
Then he stole away to their gods and said, ‘Will you not eat?Ali Quli Qarai
Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?Saheeh International
-
37:92
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَ
نط ِقُو نَ ٩٢Ma lakum la tantiqoon
Why do you not speak?’Ali Quli Qarai
What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?"Saheeh International
-
37:93
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْب
ًۢا ب ِٱ لْيَمِي نِ ٩٣Faragha AAalayhim darban bilyameen
Then he attacked them, striking forcefully.Ali Quli Qarai
And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.Saheeh International
-
37:94
فَأَ
قْ بَلُوٓ ا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّو نَ ٩٤Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoon
They came running towards him.Ali Quli Qarai
Then they [i.e., the people] came toward him, hastening.Saheeh International
-
37:95
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِت
ُو نَ ٩٥Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoon
He said, ‘Do you worship what you have yourselves carved,Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,Saheeh International
-
37:96
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُو نَ ٩٦Wallahu khalaqakum wamataAAmaloon
when Allah has created you and whatever you make?’Ali Quli Qarai
While Allāh created you and that which you do?"Saheeh International
-
37:97
قَالُو
ا۟ ٱ بْ نُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰ نً ۭا ف َأَلْقُوهُ فِىٱ لْجَحِي مِ ٩٧Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyananfaalqoohu fee aljaheem
They said, ‘Build a structure for him and cast him into a huge fire.’Ali Quli Qarai
They said, "Construct for him a structure [i.e., furnace] and throw him into the burning fire."Saheeh International
-
37:98
فَأَرَادُو
ا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدً ۭا ف َجَعَلْنَٰ هُمُٱ لْأَسْفَلِي نَ ٩٨Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumual-asfaleen
So they sought to outwit him, but We made them the lowermost.Ali Quli Qarai
And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the most debased.Saheeh International
-
37:99
وَقَالَ إِ
نّ ِى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِي نِ ٩٩Waqala innee thahibun ilarabbee sayahdeen
He said, ‘Indeed I am going toward my Lord, who will guide me.’Ali Quli Qarai
And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.Saheeh International
-
37:100
رَبِّ هَ
بْ لِى مِنَٱ ل صَّٰ لِحِي نَ ١٠٠Rabbi hablee mina assaliheen
‘My Lord! Give me [an heir], one of the righteous.’Ali Quli Qarai
My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."Saheeh International
-
37:101
فَبَشَّرْنَ
ٰ هُ بِغُلَٰ مٍ حَلِي مٍۢ ١٠١Fabashsharnahu bighulamin haleem
So We gave him the good news of a forbearing son.Ali Quli Qarai
So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.Saheeh International
-
37:102
فَلَ
مّ َا بَلَغَ مَعَهُٱ ل سَّعْىَ قَالَ يَٰ بُنَىَّ إِنّ ِىٓ أَرَىٰ فِىٱ لْمَنَامِ أَنّ ِىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱ نظ ُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَٰٓ أَبَتِٱ فْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن ش َا ٓءَٱ للَّهُ مِنَٱ ل صَّٰ بِرِي نَ ١٠٢Falamma balagha maAAahu assaAAyaqala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanamiannee athbahuka fanthur mathatara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tu/marusatajidunee in shaa Allahu mina assabireen
When he was old enough to assist in his endeavour, he said, ‘My son! I see in dreams that I am sacrificing you. See what you think.’ He said, ‘Father! Do whatever you have been commanded. If Allah wishes, you will find me to be patient.’Ali Quli Qarai
And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allāh wills, of the steadfast."Saheeh International
-
37:103
فَلَ
مّ َآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِي نِ ١٠٣Falamma aslama watallahuliljabeen
So when they had both surrendered [to Allah’s will], and he had laid him down on his forehead,Ali Quli Qarai
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,Saheeh International
-
37:104
وَنَ
ٰ دَيْنَٰ هُ أَن ي َٰٓ إِبْ رَٰ هِي مُ ١٠٤Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheem
We called out to him, ‘O Abraham!Ali Quli Qarai
We called to him, "O Abraham,Saheeh International
-
37:105
قَ
دْ صَدَّقْ تَٱ ل رُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنّ َا كَذَٰ لِكَ نَجْ زِىٱ لْمُحْسِنِي نَ ١٠٥Qad saddaqta arru/yainna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
You have indeed fulfilled your vision! Thus indeed do We reward the virtuous!Ali Quli Qarai
You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.Saheeh International
-
37:106
إِ
نّ َ هَٰ ذَا لَهُوَٱ لْبَلَٰٓ ؤُا۟ ٱ لْمُبِي نُ ١٠٦Inna hatha lahuwa albalaoalmubeen
This was indeed a manifest test.’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, this was the clear trial.Saheeh International
-
37:107
وَفَدَيْنَ
ٰ هُ بِذِبْ حٍ عَظِي مٍۢ ١٠٧Wafadaynahu bithibhinAAatheem
Then We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,Ali Quli Qarai
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,Saheeh International
-
37:108
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى
ٱ لَْٔاخِرِي نَ ١٠٨Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen
and left for him a good name in posterity:Ali Quli Qarai
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:Saheeh International
-
37:109
سَلَ
ٰ مٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْ رَٰ هِي مَ ١٠٩Salamun AAala ibraheem
‘Peace be to Abraham!’Ali Quli Qarai
"Peace upon Abraham."Saheeh International
-
37:110
كَذَ
ٰ لِكَ نَجْ زِىٱ لْمُحْسِنِي نَ ١١٠Kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Thus do We reward the virtuous.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.Saheeh International
-
37:111
إِ
نّ َهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَاٱ لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ ١١١Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen
He is indeed one of Our faithful servants.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.Saheeh International
-
37:112
وَبَشَّرْنَ
ٰ هُ بِإِسْحَٰ قَ نَبِيًّ ۭا م ِّنَٱ ل صَّٰ لِحِي نَ ١١٢Wabashsharnahu bi-ishaqanabiyyan mina assaliheen
And We gave him the good news of [the birth of] Isaac, a prophet, one of the righteous.Ali Quli Qarai
And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.Saheeh International
-
37:113
وَبَ
ٰ رَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰ قَ ۚ وَمِن ذ ُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ ۭو َظَالِمٌ ۭل ِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِي نٌۭ ١١٣Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAalaishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinunwathalimun linafsihi mubeen
And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants [some] are virtuous, and [some] who manifestly wrong themselves.Ali Quli Qarai
And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself [i.e., sinner].Saheeh International
-
37:114
وَلَقَ
دْ مَنَنّ َا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰ رُو نَ ١١٤Walaqad mananna AAala moosawaharoon
Certainly We favoured Moses and Aaron,Ali Quli Qarai
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.Saheeh International
-
37:115
وَنَجَّيْنَ
ٰ هُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَٱ لْكَرْبِٱ لْعَظِي مِ ١١٥Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahumamina alkarbi alAAatheem
and delivered them and their people from their great distress,Ali Quli Qarai
And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,Saheeh International
-
37:116
وَنَصَرْنَ
ٰ هُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُٱ لْغَٰ لِبِي نَ ١١٦Wanasarnahum fakanoohumu alghalibeen
and We helped them so that they became the victors.Ali Quli Qarai
And We supported them so it was they who overcame.Saheeh International
-
37:117
وَءَاتَيْنَ
ٰ هُمَاٱ لْكِتَٰ بَٱ لْمُسْتَبِي نَ ١١٧Waataynahuma alkitabaalmustabeen
We gave them the illuminating scriptureAli Quli Qarai
And We gave them the explicit Scripture [i.e., the Torah],Saheeh International
-
37:118
وَهَدَيْنَ
ٰ هُمَاٱ ل صِّرَٰ طَٱ لْمُسْتَقِي مَ ١١٨Wahadaynahuma assirataalmustaqeem
and guided them to the straight path,Ali Quli Qarai
And We guided them on the straight path.Saheeh International
-
37:119
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى
ٱ لَْٔاخِرِي نَ ١١٩Watarakna AAalayhima fee al-akhireen
and left for them a good name in posterity.Ali Quli Qarai
And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:Saheeh International
-
37:120
سَلَ
ٰ مٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰ رُو نَ ١٢٠Salamun AAala moosawaharoon
‘Peace be to Moses and Aaron!’Ali Quli Qarai
"Peace upon Moses and Aaron."Saheeh International
-
37:121
إِ
نّ َا كَذَٰ لِكَ نَجْ زِىٱ لْمُحْسِنِي نَ ١٢١Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Thus indeed do We reward the virtuous.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.Saheeh International
-
37:122
إِ
نّ َهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَاٱ لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ ١٢٢Innahuma min AAibadinaalmu/mineen
They are indeed among Our faithful servants.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.Saheeh International
-
37:123
وَإِ
نّ َ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَٱ لْمُرْسَلِي نَ ١٢٣Wa-inna ilyasa lamina almursaleen
Indeed Ilyas was one of the apostles.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,Saheeh International
-
37:124
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِه
ِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُو نَ ١٢٤Ith qala liqawmihi alatattaqoon
When he said to his people, ‘Will you not be Godwary?Ali Quli Qarai
When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allāh?Saheeh International
-
37:125
أَتَ
دْ عُونَ بَعْلً ۭاو َتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَٱ لْخَٰ لِقِي نَ ١٢٥AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsanaalkhaliqeen
Do you invoke Baal and abandon the best of creators,Ali Quli Qarai
Do you call upon Baʿl and leave the best of creators -Saheeh International
-
37:126
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَاب
َا ٓئِكُمُٱ لْأَوَّلِي نَ ١٢٦Allaha rabbakum warabba aba-ikumual-awwaleen
Allah, your Lord and Lord of your forefathers?,’Ali Quli Qarai
Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"Saheeh International
-
37:127
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِ
نّ َهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُو نَ ١٢٧Fakaththaboohu fa-innahum lamuhdaroon
they impugned him. So they will indeed be mustered [in hell]Ali Quli Qarai
And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],Saheeh International
-
37:128
إِلَّا عِبَادَ
ٱ للَّهِٱ لْمُخْلَصِي نَ ١٢٨Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
—[all] except Allah’s exclusive servants.Ali Quli Qarai
Except the chosen servants of Allāh.Saheeh International
-
37:129
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى
ٱ لَْٔاخِرِي نَ ١٢٩Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen
We left for him a good name in posterity.Ali Quli Qarai
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:Saheeh International
-
37:130
سَلَ
ٰ مٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ ١٣٠Salamun AAala il yaseen
‘Peace be to Ilyas!’Ali Quli Qarai
"Peace upon Elias."Saheeh International
-
37:131
إِ
نّ َا كَذَٰ لِكَ نَجْ زِىٱ لْمُحْسِنِي نَ ١٣١Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Thus indeed do We reward the virtuous.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.Saheeh International
-
37:132
إِ
نّ َهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَاٱ لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ ١٣٢Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen
He is indeed one of Our faithful servants.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.Saheeh International
-
37:133
وَإِ
نّ َ لُوطً ۭا ل َّمِنَٱ لْمُرْسَلِي نَ ١٣٣Wa-inna lootan lamina almursaleen
Indeed Lot was one of the apostles.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.Saheeh International
-
37:134
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَ
ٰ هُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْ مَعِي نَ ١٣٤Ith najjaynahu waahlahuajmaAAeen
When We delivered him and all his family,Ali Quli Qarai
[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,Saheeh International
-
37:135
إِلَّا عَجُو
زً ۭا ف ِىٱ لْغَٰ بِرِي نَ ١٣٥Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireen
excepting an old woman among those who remained behind,Ali Quli Qarai
Except an old woman [i.e., his wife] among those who remained [with the evildoers].Saheeh International
-
37:136
ثُ
مّ َ دَمّ َرْنَاٱ لَْٔاخَرِي نَ ١٣٦Thumma dammarna al-akhareen
We destroyed the rest.Ali Quli Qarai
Then We destroyed the others.Saheeh International
-
37:137
وَإِ
نّ َكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم م ُّصْبِحِي نَ ١٣٧Wa-innakum latamurroona AAalayhim musbiheen
Indeed you pass by them at dawnAli Quli Qarai
And indeed, you pass by them in the morningSaheeh International
-
37:138
وَبِ
ٱ لَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُو نَ ١٣٨Wabillayli afala taAAqiloon
and at night. Do you not exercise your reason?Ali Quli Qarai
And at night. Then will you not use reason?Saheeh International
-
37:139
وَإِ
نّ َ يُونُسَ لَمِنَٱ لْمُرْسَلِي نَ ١٣٩Wa-inna yoonusa lamina almursaleen
Indeed Jonah was one of the apostles.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.Saheeh International
-
37:140
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى
ٱ لْفُلْكِٱ لْمَشْحُو نِ ١٤٠Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhoon
When he absconded toward the laden ship,Ali Quli Qarai
[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.Saheeh International
-
37:141
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ
ٱ لْمُدْ حَضِي نَ ١٤١Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeen
he drew lots with them and was the one to be condemned [as one to be thrown overboard].Ali Quli Qarai
And he drew lots and was among the losers.Saheeh International
-
37:142
فَ
ٱ لْتَقَمَهُٱ لْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِي مٌۭ ١٤٢Faltaqamahu alhootu wahuwamuleem
Then the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy.Ali Quli Qarai
Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.Saheeh International
-
37:143
فَلَوْل
َآ أَنّ َهُۥ كَانَ مِنَٱ لْمُسَبِّحِي نَ ١٤٣Falawla annahu kana minaalmusabbiheen
Had he not been one of those who celebrate Allah’s glory,Ali Quli Qarai
And had he not been of those who exalt Allāh,Saheeh International
-
37:144
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَ
طْ نِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْ عَثُو نَ ١٤٤Lalabitha fee batnihi ilayawmi yubAAathoon
he would have surely remained in its belly till the day they will be resurrected.Ali Quli Qarai
He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.Saheeh International
-
37:145
۞ فَنَبَذْنَ
ٰ هُ بِٱ لْعَرَا ٓءِ وَهُوَ سَقِي مٌۭ ١٤٥Fanabathnahu bilAAara-iwahuwa saqeem
Then We cast him on a bare shore, and he was sick.Ali Quli Qarai
But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.Saheeh International
-
37:146
وَأَ
نۢب َتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً ۭم ِّن ي َقْ طِي نٍۢ ١٤٦Waanbatna AAalayhi shajaratan minyaqteen
So We made a gourd plant grow above him.Ali Quli Qarai
And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.Saheeh International
-
37:147
وَأَرْسَلْنَ
ٰ هُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُو نَ ١٤٧Waarsalnahu ila mi-ati alfinaw yazeedoon
We sent him to a [community of] hundred thousand or more,Ali Quli Qarai
And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.Saheeh International
-
37:148
فََٔامَنُو
ا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَٰ هُمْ إِلَىٰ حِي نٍۢ ١٤٨Faamanoo famattaAAnahum ilaheen
and they believed [in him]. So We provided for them for a while.Ali Quli Qarai
And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.Saheeh International
-
37:149
فَ
ٱ سْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَٱ لْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُٱ لْبَنُو نَ ١٤٩Fastaftihim alirabbika albanatuwalahumu albanoon
Ask them, are daughters to be for your Lord while sons are to be for them?Ali Quli Qarai
So inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?Saheeh International
-
37:150
أَمْ خَلَ
قْ نَاٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةَ إِنَٰ ثً ۭا و َهُمْ شَٰ هِدُو نَ ١٥٠Am khalaqna almala-ikata inathanwahum shahidoon
Did We create the angels females while they were present?Ali Quli Qarai
Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?"Saheeh International
-
37:151
أَل
َآ إِنّ َهُم م ِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُو نَ ١٥١Ala innahum min ifkihim layaqooloon
Be aware that it is out of their mendacity that they say,Ali Quli Qarai
Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,Saheeh International
-
37:152
وَلَدَ
ٱ للَّهُ وَإِنّ َهُمْ لَكَٰ ذِبُو نَ ١٥٢Walada Allahu wa-innahum lakathiboon
‘Allah has begotten [offsprings],’ and they indeed speak a falsehood.Ali Quli Qarai
"Allāh has begotten," and indeed, they are liars.Saheeh International
-
37:153
أَصْطَفَى
ٱ لْبَنَاتِ عَلَىٱ لْبَنِي نَ ١٥٣Astafa albanati AAalaalbaneen
Has He preferred daughters to sons?Ali Quli Qarai
Has He chosen daughters over sons?Saheeh International
-
37:154
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُم
ُو نَ ١٥٤Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoon
What is the matter with you? How do you judge?Ali Quli Qarai
What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?Saheeh International
-
37:155
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّر
ُو نَ ١٥٥Afala tathakkaroon
Will you not then take admonition?Ali Quli Qarai
Then will you not be reminded?Saheeh International
-
37:156
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَ
ٰ نٌ ۭم ُّبِي نٌۭ ١٥٦Am lakum sultanun mubeen
Do you have a manifest authority?Ali Quli Qarai
Or do you have a clear authority?Saheeh International
-
37:157
فَأْتُو
ا۟ بِكِتَٰ بِكُمْ إِن ك ُنت ُمْ صَٰ دِقِي نَ ١٥٧Fa/too bikitabikum in kuntum sadiqeen
Then produce your scripture, should you be truthful.Ali Quli Qarai
Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.Saheeh International
-
37:158
وَجَعَلُو
ا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَٱ لْجِنّ َةِ نَسَبً ۭا ۚ و َلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِٱ لْجِنّ َةُ إِنّ َهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُو نَ ١٥٨WajaAAaloo baynahu wabayna aljinnatinasaban walaqad AAalimati aljinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon
And they have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn, while the jinn certainly know that they will be presented [before Him].Ali Quli Qarai
And they have made [i.e., claimed] between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought [to punishment].Saheeh International
-
37:159
سُ
بْ حَٰ نَٱ للَّهِ عَمّ َا يَصِفُو نَ ١٥٩Subhana Allahi AAammayasifoon
Clear is Allah of whatever they allege [about Him]Ali Quli Qarai
Exalted is Allāh above what they describe,Saheeh International
-
37:160
إِلَّا عِبَادَ
ٱ للَّهِٱ لْمُخْلَصِي نَ ١٦٠Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
—[all] except Allah’s exclusive servants.Ali Quli Qarai
Except the chosen servants of Allāh [who do not share in that sin].Saheeh International
-
37:161
فَإِ
نّ َكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُو نَ ١٦١Fa-innakum wama taAAbudoon
Indeed you and what you worshipAli Quli Qarai
So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,Saheeh International
-
37:162
م
َآ أَنت ُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰ تِنِي نَ ١٦٢Ma antum AAalayhi bifatineen
cannot mislead [anyone] about Him,Ali Quli Qarai
You cannot tempt [anyone] away from HimSaheeh International
-
37:163
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ
ٱ لْجَحِي مِ ١٦٣Illa man huwa sali aljaheem
except someone who is bound for hell.Ali Quli Qarai
Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.Saheeh International
-
37:164
وَمَا مِ
نّ َآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ ۭم َّعْلُو مٌۭ ١٦٤Wama minna illa lahumaqamun maAAloom
‘There is none among us but has a known place.Ali Quli Qarai
[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.Saheeh International
-
37:165
وَإِ
نّ َا لَنَحْنُٱ ل صَّا ٓفُّو نَ ١٦٥Wa-inna lanahnu assaffoon
It is we who are the ranged ones.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].Saheeh International
-
37:166
وَإِ
نّ َا لَنَحْنُٱ لْمُسَبِّحُو نَ ١٦٦Wa-inna lanahnu almusabbihoon
It is we who celebrate Allah’s glory.’Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, we are those who exalt Allāh."Saheeh International
-
37:167
وَإِ
ن ك َانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُو نَ ١٦٧Wa-in kanoo layaqooloon
They indeed, used to say,Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, they [i.e., the disbelievers] used to say,Saheeh International
-
37:168
لَوْ أَ
نّ َ عِند َنَا ذِكْرً ۭا م ِّنَٱ لْأَوَّلِي نَ ١٦٨Law anna AAindana thikranmina al-awwaleen
‘Had we possessed a Reminder from our predecessors,Ali Quli Qarai
"If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,Saheeh International
-
37:169
لَكُ
نّ َا عِبَادَٱ للَّهِٱ لْمُخْلَصِي نَ ١٦٩Lakunna AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
we would have surely been Allah’s exclusive servants.’Ali Quli Qarai
We would have been the chosen servants of Allāh."Saheeh International
-
37:170
فَكَفَرُو
ا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُو نَ ١٧٠Fakafaroo bihi fasawfa yaAAlamoon
But they disbelieved it [when it came to them]. Soon they will know!Ali Quli Qarai
But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know.Saheeh International
-
37:171
وَلَقَ
دْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَاٱ لْمُرْسَلِي نَ ١٧١Walaqad sabaqat kalimatuna liAAibadinaalmursaleen
Certainly Our decree has gone beforehand in favour of Our servants, the apostles,Ali Quli Qarai
And Our word [i.e., decree] has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,Saheeh International
-
37:172
إِ
نّ َهُمْ لَهُمُٱ لْمَنص ُورُو نَ ١٧٢Innahum lahumu almansooroon
that they will indeed receive [Allah’s] help,Ali Quli Qarai
[That] indeed, they would be those given victorySaheeh International
-
37:173
وَإِ
نّ َ جُند َنَا لَهُمُٱ لْغَٰ لِبُو نَ ١٧٣Wa-inna jundana lahumu alghaliboon
and indeed Our hosts will be the victors.Ali Quli Qarai
And [that] indeed, Our soldiers [i.e., the believers] will be those who overcome.Saheeh International
-
37:174
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ ح
ِي نٍۢ ١٧٤Fatawalla AAanhum hatta heen
So leave them alone for a while,Ali Quli Qarai
So, [O Muḥammad], leave them for a time.Saheeh International
-
37:175
وَأَ
بْ صِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْ صِرُو نَ ١٧٥Waabsirhum fasawfa yubsiroon
and watch them; soon they will see [the truth of the matter]!Ali Quli Qarai
And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.Saheeh International
-
37:176
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِل
ُو نَ ١٧٦AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloon
Do they seek to hasten Our punishment?Ali Quli Qarai
Then for Our punishment are they impatient?Saheeh International
-
37:177
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَس
َا ٓءَ صَبَاحُٱ لْمُنذ َرِي نَ ١٧٧Fa-itha nazala bisahatihimfasaa sabahu almunthareen
But when it descends in their courtyard it will be a dismal dawn for those who had been warned.Ali Quli Qarai
But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.Saheeh International
-
37:178
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ ح
ِي نٍۢ ١٧٨Watawalla AAanhum hatta heen
So leave them alone for a while,Ali Quli Qarai
And leave them for a time.Saheeh International
-
37:179
وَأَ
بْ صِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْ صِرُو نَ ١٧٩Waabsir fasawfa yubsiroon
and watch; soon they will see!Ali Quli Qarai
And see, for they are going to see.Saheeh International
-
37:180
سُ
بْ حَٰ نَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّٱ لْعِزَّةِ عَمّ َا يَصِفُو نَ ١٨٠Subhana rabbika rabbi alAAizzatiAAamma yasifoon
Clear is your Lord, the Lord of Might, of whatever they allege [concerning Him].Ali Quli Qarai
Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.Saheeh International
-
37:181
وَسَلَ
ٰ مٌ عَلَىٱ لْمُرْسَلِي نَ ١٨١Wasalamun AAala almursaleen
Peace be to the apostles!Ali Quli Qarai
And peace upon the messengers.Saheeh International
-
37:182
وَ
ٱ لْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّٱ لْعَٰ لَمِي نَ ١٨٢Walhamdu lillahirabbi alAAalameen
All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds.Ali Quli Qarai
And praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.Saheeh International
