بِسْمِ
-
38:1
صٓ ۚ وَٱ لْقُرْءَانِ ذِىٱ ل ذِّكْرِ ١Sad walqur-ani theeaththikr
Suad. By the Quran bearing the Reminder,Ali Quli Qarai
Ṣād. By the Qur’ān containing reminder...Saheeh International
-
38:2
بَلِ
ٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى عِزَّةٍ ۢو َشِقَا ق ٍۢ ٢Bali allatheena kafaroo fee AAizzatinwashiqaq
the faithless indeed dwell in conceit and defiance.Ali Quli Qarai
But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension.Saheeh International
-
38:3
كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِ
ن ق َبْ لِهِم م ِّن ق َرْنٍ ۢف َنَادَوا۟ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَا صٍۢ ٣Kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarninfanadaw walata heena manas
How many a generation We have destroyed before them! They cried out [for help], but gone was the time for escape.Ali Quli Qarai
How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape.Saheeh International

38:4
وَعَجِب
ُوٓ ا۟ أَن ج َا ٓءَهُم م ُّنذ ِرٌ ۭم ِّنْهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَٱ لْكَٰ فِرُونَ هَٰ ذَا سَٰ حِرٌ ۭك َذَّا ب ٌ ٤WaAAajiboo an jaahum munthirunminhum waqala alkafiroona hatha sahirunkaththab
They consider it odd that there should come to them a warner from among themselves, and the faithless say, ‘This is a magician, a mendacious liar.’Ali Quli Qarai
And they wonder that there has come to them a warner [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar.Saheeh International

38:5
أَجَعَلَ
ٱ لَْٔالِهَةَ إِلَٰ هً ۭا و َٰ حِدًا ۖ إِنّ َ هَٰ ذَا لَشَىْءٌ عُجَا ب ٌۭ ٥AjaAAala al-alihata ilahan wahidaninna hatha lashay-on AAujab
‘Has he reduced the gods to one god? This is indeed an odd thing!’Ali Quli Qarai
Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing."Saheeh International

38:6
وَ
ٱ نط َلَقَٱ لْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِٱ مْشُوا۟ وَٱ صْبِرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنّ َ هَٰ ذَا لَشَىْءٌ ۭي ُرَا د ُ ٦Wantalaqa almalao minhum aniimshoo wasbiroo AAala alihatikuminna hatha lashay-on yurad
Their elite go about [urging others]: ‘Go and stand by your gods! This is indeed the desirable thing [to do].Ali Quli Qarai
And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended.Saheeh International

38:7
مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَ
ٰ ذَا فِىٱ لْمِلَّةِٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ إِنْ هَٰ ذَآ إِلَّاٱ خْتِلَٰ ق ٌ ٧Ma samiAAna bihatha feealmillati al-akhirati in hatha illa ikhtilaq
We did not hear of this in the latter-day creed. This is nothing but a fabrication.Ali Quli Qarai
We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication.Saheeh International

38:8
أَءُ
نز ِلَ عَلَيْهِٱ ل ذِّكْرُ مِنۢ ب َيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ ۢم ِّن ذ ِكْرِى ۖ بَل لَّمّ َا يَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَا ب ِ ٨Aonzila AAalayhi aththikru minbaynina bal hum fee shakkin min thikree bal lammayathooqoo AAathab
Has the Reminder been sent down to him out of [all of] us?’ Indeed, they are in doubt concerning My Reminder. Indeed, they have not yet tasted My punishment.Ali Quli Qarai
Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment.Saheeh International

38:9
أَمْ عِ
ند َهُمْ خَزَا ٓئِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَٱ لْعَزِيزِٱ لْوَهَّا ب ِ ٩Am AAindahum khaza-inu rahmatirabbika alAAazeezi alwahhab
Do they possess the treasuries of the mercy of your Lord, the All-mighty, the All-munificent?Ali Quli Qarai
Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower?Saheeh International

38:10
أَمْ لَه
ُم م ُّلْكُٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟ فِىٱ لْأَسْبَٰ ب ِ ١٠Am lahum mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wama baynahuma falyartaqoofee al-asbab
Do they own the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them? [If so,] let them ascend [to the higher spheres] by the means [of ascension].Ali Quli Qarai
Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access.Saheeh International

38:11
جُن
دٌ ۭم َّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌ ۭم ِّنَٱ لْأَحْزَا ب ِ ١١Jundun ma hunalika mahzoomunmina al-ahzab
[They are but] a host routed out there of the factions.Ali Quli Qarai
[They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers].Saheeh International

38:12
كَذَّبَتْ قَ
بْ لَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ ۢو َعَادٌ ۭو َفِرْعَوْنُ ذُوٱ لْأَوْتَا د ِ ١٢Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohinwaAAadun wafirAAawnu thoo al-awtad
Before them Noah’s people impugned [their apostle] and [so did the people of] ‘Ad, and Pharaoh, the Impaler [of his victims],Ali Quli Qarai
The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] ʿAad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes,Saheeh International
-
38:13
وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُو
طٍ ۢو َأَصْحَٰ بُ لَْٔيْكَةِ ۚ أُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَٱ لْأَحْزَا ب ُ ١٣Wathamoodu waqawmu lootin waas-habual-aykati ola-ika al-ahzab
and Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the inhabitants of Aykah: those were the factions.Ali Quli Qarai
And [the tribe of] Thamūd and the people of Lot and the companions of the thicket [i.e., people of Madyan]. Those are the companies.Saheeh International

38:14
إِ
ن ك ُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَٱ ل رُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَا ب ِ ١٤In kullun illa kaththaba arrusulafahaqqa AAiqab
There was not any one but such as impugned the apostles; so My retribution became due [against them].Ali Quli Qarai
Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified.Saheeh International
-
38:15
وَمَا يَ
نظ ُرُ هَٰٓ ؤُلَا ٓءِ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً ۭو َٰ حِدَةً ۭم َّا لَهَا مِن ف َوَا ق ٍۢ ١٥Wama yanthuru haola-iilla sayhatan wahidatan ma lahamin fawaq
These [too] do not await but a single Cry, which will not grant [them] any respite.Ali Quli Qarai
And these [disbelievers] await not but one blast [of the Horn]; for it there will be no delay.Saheeh International

38:16
وَقَالُو
ا۟ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْ لَ يَوْمِٱ لْحِسَا ب ِ ١٦Waqaloo rabbana AAajjil lanaqittana qabla yawmi alhisab
They say, ‘Our Lord! Hasten on for us our share before the Day of Reckoning.’Ali Quli Qarai
And they say, "Our Lord, hasten for us our share [of the punishment] before the Day of Account."Saheeh International

38:17
ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَ
ٱ ذْكُرْ عَبْ دَنَا دَاوُۥ دَ ذَاٱ لْأَيْدِ ۖ إِنّ َهُۥٓ أَوَّا ب ٌ ١٧Isbir AAala mayaqooloona wathkur AAabdana dawooda thaal-aydi innahu awwab
Be patient over what they say, and remember Our servant, David, [the man] of strength. Indeed he was a penitent [soul].Ali Quli Qarai
Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allāh].Saheeh International
-
38:18
إِ
نّ َا سَخَّرْنَاٱ لْجِبَالَ مَعَهُۥ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِٱ لْعَشِىِّ وَٱ لْإِشْرَا ق ِ ١٨Inna sakhkharna aljibalamaAAahu yusabbihna bilAAashiyyi wal-ishraq
We disposed the mountains to glorify [Allah] with him at evening and dawn,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allāh] in the [late] afternoon and [after] sunrise.Saheeh International
-
38:19
وَ
ٱ ل طَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً ۭۖ ك ُلٌّ ۭل َّهُۥٓ أَوَّا ب ٌۭ ١٩Wattayra mahshooratankullun lahu awwab
and the birds [as well], mustered [in flocks]; all echoing him [in a chorus].Ali Quli Qarai
And the birds were assembled, all with him repeating [praises].Saheeh International
-
38:20
وَشَدَ
دْ نَا مُلْكَهُۥ وَءَاتَيْنَٰ هُٱ لْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَٱ لْخِطَا ب ِ ٢٠Washadadna mulkahu waataynahualhikmata wafasla alkhitab
We consolidated his kingdom and gave him wisdom and conclusive speech.Ali Quli Qarai
And We strengthened his kingdom and gave him wisdom and discernment in speech.Saheeh International
-
38:21
۞ وَهَلْ أَتَى
ٰ كَ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱ لْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا۟ ٱ لْمِحْرَا ب َ ٢١Wahal ataka nabao alkhasmi ithtasawwaroo almihrab
Has there not come to you the account of the contenders, when they scaled the wall into the sanctuary?Ali Quli Qarai
And has there come to you the news of the adversaries, when they climbed over the wall of [his] prayer chamber -Saheeh International
-
38:22
إِذْ دَخَلُو
ا۟ عَلَىٰ دَاوُۥ دَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ خَصْمَانِ بَغَىٰ بَعْضُنَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۢف َٱ حْكُم ب َيْنَنَا بِٱ لْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَٱ هْدِنَآ إِلَىٰ سَوَا ٓءِٱ ل صِّرَٰ ط ِ ٢٢Ith dakhaloo AAala dawoodafafaziAAa minhum qaloo la takhaf khasmanibagha baAAduna AAala baAAdinfahkum baynana bilhaqqi walatushtit wahdina ila sawa-iassirat
When they entered into the presence of David, he was alarmed by them. They said, ‘Do not be afraid. [We are only] two contenders: one of us has bullied the other. So judge justly between us, and do not exceed [the bounds of justice], and show us the right path.’Ali Quli Qarai
When they entered upon David and he was alarmed by them? They said, "Fear not. [We are] two adversaries, one of whom has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth and do not exceed [it] and guide us to the sound path.Saheeh International

38:23
إِ
نّ َ هَٰ ذَآ أَخِى لَهُۥ تِسْعٌ ۭو َتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً ۭو َلِىَ نَعْجَةٌ ۭو َٰ حِدَةٌ ۭف َقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِى فِىٱ لْخِطَا ب ِ ٢٣Inna hatha akhee lahu tisAAunwatisAAoona naAAjatan waliya naAAjatun wahidatun faqalaakfilneeha waAAazzanee fee alkhitab
‘This brother of mine has ninety-nine ewes, while I have only a single ewe, and [yet] he says, ‘Commit it to my care,’ and he browbeats me in speech.’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said, 'Entrust her to me,' and he overpowered me in speech."Saheeh International

38:24
قَالَ لَقَ
دْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَىٰ نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ وَإِنّ َ كَثِيرً ۭا م ِّنَٱ لْخُلَطَا ٓءِ لَيَبْ غِى بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ إِلَّاٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱ ل صَّٰ لِحَٰ تِ وَقَلِيلٌ ۭم َّا هُمْ ۗ وَظَنّ َ دَاوُۥ دُ أَنّ َمَا فَتَنّ َٰ هُ فَٱ سْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُۥ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعً ۭا و َأَنَا ب َ ۩ ٢٤Qala laqad thalamakabisu-ali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wa-innakatheeran mina alkhulata-i layabghee baAAduhum AAalabaAAdin illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati waqaleelun mahum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahufastaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanab
He said, ‘He has certainly wronged you by asking your ewe in addition to his own ewes, and indeed many partners bully one another, except such as have faith and do righteous deeds, and few are they.’ Then David knew that We had tested him, whereat he pleaded with his Lord for forgiveness, and fell down in prostration and repented.Ali Quli Qarai
[David] said, "He has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe [in addition] to his ewes. And indeed, many associates oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds - and few are they." And David became certain that We had tried him, and he asked forgiveness of his Lord and fell down bowing [in prostration] and turned in repentance [to Allāh].Saheeh International
-
38:25
فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ
ۥ ذَٰ لِكَ ۖ وَإِنّ َ لَهُۥ عِند َنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مََٔا ب ٍۢ ٢٥Faghafarna lahu thalikawa-inna lahu AAindana lazulfa wahusna maab
So We forgave him that, and indeed he has [a station of] nearness with Us and a good destination.Ali Quli Qarai
So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return.Saheeh International
-
38:26
يَ
ٰ دَاوُۥ دُ إِنّ َا جَعَلْنَٰ كَ خَلِيفَةً ۭف ِىٱ لْأَرْضِ فَٱ حْكُم ب َيْنَٱ ل نّ َاسِ بِٱ لْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِٱ لْهَوَىٰ فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن س َبِيلِٱ للَّهِ ۚ إِنّ َٱ لَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن س َبِيلِٱ للَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ ۭش َدِيدٌۢ ب ِمَا نَسُوا۟ يَوْمَٱ لْحِسَا ب ِ ٢٦Ya dawoodu inna jaAAalnakakhaleefatan fee al-ardi fahkum bayna annasibilhaqqi wala tattabiAAi alhawa fayudillakaAAan sabeeli Allahi inna allatheena yadilloonaAAan sabeeli Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun bimanasoo yawma alhisab
‘O David! Indeed, We have made you a vicegerent on the earth. So judge between people with justice, and do not follow your desires, or they will lead you astray from the way of Allah. Indeed there is a severe punishment for those who stray from the way of Allah, because of their forgetting the Day of Reckoning.’Ali Quli Qarai
[We said], "O David, indeed We have made you a successor upon the earth, so judge between the people in truth and do not follow [your own] desire, as it will lead you astray from the way of Allāh." Indeed, those who go astray from the way of Allāh will have a severe punishment for having forgotten the Day of Account.Saheeh International

38:27
وَمَا خَلَ
قْ نَاٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءَ وَٱ لْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَٰ طِلً ۭاۚ ذ َٰ لِكَ ظَنّ ُٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ ۭل ِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَٱ ل نّ َا رِ ٢٧Wama khalaqna assamaawal-arda wama baynahuma batilanthalika thannu allatheena kafaroofawaylun lillatheena kafaroo mina annar
We did not create the sky and the earth and whatever is between them in vain. That is a conjecture of the faithless. So woe to the faithless for the Fire!Ali Quli Qarai
And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire.Saheeh International

38:28
أَمْ نَ
جْ عَلُٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱ ل صَّٰ لِحَٰ تِ كَٱ لْمُفْسِدِينَ فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْ عَلُٱ لْمُتَّقِينَ كَٱ لْفُجَّا رِ ٢٨Am najAAalu allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati kalmufsideenafee al-ardi am najAAalu almuttaqeena kalfujjar
Shall We treat those who have faith and do righteous deeds like those who cause corruption on the earth? Shall We treat the Godwary like the vicious?Ali Quli Qarai
Or should We treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allāh like the wicked?Saheeh International
-
38:29
كِتَ
ٰ بٌ أَنز َلْنَٰ هُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَٰ رَكٌ ۭل ِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓ ا۟ ءَايَٰ تِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟ لُوا۟ ٱ لْأَلْبَٰ ب ِ ٢٩Kitabun anzalnahu ilayka mubarakunliyaddabbaroo ayatihi waliyatathakkara olooal-albab
[This is] a blessed Book that We have sent down to you, so that they may contemplate its signs, and that those who possess intellect may take admonition.Ali Quli Qarai
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.Saheeh International

38:30
وَوَهَ
بْ نَا لِدَاوُۥ دَ سُلَيْمَٰ نَ ۚ نِعْمَٱ لْعَبْ دُ ۖ إِنّ َهُۥٓ أَوَّا ب ٌ ٣٠Wawahabna lidawooda sulaymananiAAma alAAabdu innahu awwab
And to David We gave Solomon—what an excellent servant he was! Indeed, he was a penitent [soul].Ali Quli Qarai
And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allāh].Saheeh International
-
38:31
إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِ
ٱ لْعَشِىِّٱ ل صَّٰ فِنَٰ تُٱ لْجِيَا د ُ ٣١Ith AAurida AAalayhi bilAAashiyyiassafinatu aljiyad
One evening when there were displayed before him prancing steeds,Ali Quli Qarai
[Mention] when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised [standing] racehorses.Saheeh International
-
38:32
فَقَالَ إِ
نّ ِىٓ أَحْبَبْ تُ حُبَّٱ لْخَيْرِ عَن ذ ِكْرِ رَبِّى حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِٱ لْحِجَا ب ِ ٣٢Faqala innee ahbabtu hubbaalkhayri AAan thikri rabbee hatta tawaratbilhijab
he said, ‘Indeed I have preferred the love of [worldly] niceties to the remembrance of my Lord until [the sun] disappeared behind the [night’s] veil.’Ali Quli Qarai
And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until it [i.e., the sun] disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]."Saheeh International

38:33
رُدُّوهَا عَلَىَّ ۖ فَطَفِقَ مَسْح
ًۢا ب ِٱ ل سُّوقِ وَٱ لْأَعْنَا ق ِ ٣٣Ruddooha AAalayya fatafiqa mashanbissooqi wal-aAAnaq
‘Bring it back for me!’ Then he [and others] began to wipe [their] legs and necks.Ali Quli Qarai
[He said], "Return them to me," and set about striking [their] legs and necks.Saheeh International
-
38:34
وَلَقَ
دْ فَتَنّ َا سُلَيْمَٰ نَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَىٰ كُرْسِيِّهِۦ جَسَدً ۭا ث ُمّ َ أَنَا ب َ ٣٤Walaqad fatanna sulaymanawaalqayna AAala kursiyyihi jasadan thumma anab
Certainly We tried Solomon, and cast a [lifeless] body on his throne. Thereupon he was penitent.Ali Quli Qarai
And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned.Saheeh International
-
38:35
قَالَ رَبِّ
ٱ غْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكً ۭا ل َّا يَنۢب َغِى لِأَحَدٍ ۢم ِّنۢ ب َعْدِىٓ ۖ إِنّ َكَ أَنت َٱ لْوَهَّا ب ُ ٣٥Qala rabbi ighfir lee wahab leemulkan la yanbaghee li-ahadin min baAAdee innakaanta alwahhab
He said, ‘My Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom that will not befit anyone except me. Indeed You are the All-munificent.’Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower."Saheeh International
-
38:36
فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ
ٱ ل رِّيحَ تَجْ رِى بِأَمْرِهِۦ رُخَا ٓءً حَيْثُ أَصَا ب َ ٣٦Fasakhkharna lahu arreehatajree bi-amrihi rukhaan haythu asab
So We disposed the wind for him, blowing softly wherever he intended by his command,Ali Quli Qarai
So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed,Saheeh International
-
38:37
وَ
ٱ ل شَّيَٰ طِينَ كُلَّ بَنّ َا ٓءٍ ۢو َغَوَّا صٍۢ ٣٧Washshayateena kulla banna-inwaghawwas
and every builder and diver from the demons,Ali Quli Qarai
And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diverSaheeh International
-
38:38
وَءَاخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِى
ٱ لْأَصْفَا د ِ ٣٨Waakhareena muqarraneena fee al-asfad
and others [too] bound together in chains.Ali Quli Qarai
And others bound together in irons.Saheeh International
-
38:39
هَ
ٰ ذَا عَطَا ٓؤُنَا فَٱ مْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَا ب ٍۢ ٣٩Hatha AAataona famnunaw amsik bighayri hisab
‘This is Our bounty: so withhold or bestow without any reckoning.’Ali Quli Qarai
[We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account."Saheeh International

38:40
وَإِ
نّ َ لَهُۥ عِند َنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مََٔا ب ٍۢ ٤٠Wa-inna lahu AAindana lazulfawahusna maab
Indeed he has [a station of] nearness with Us and a good destination.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return.Saheeh International
-
38:41
وَ
ٱ ذْكُرْ عَبْ دَنَآ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنّ ِى مَسَّنِىَٱ ل شَّيْطَٰ نُ بِنُصْبٍ ۢو َعَذَا ب ٍ ٤١Wathkur AAabdanaayyooba ith nada rabbahu annee massaniya ashshaytanubinusbin waAAathab
And remember Our servant Job [in the Quran]. When he called out to his Lord, ‘The devil has visited on me hardship and torment,’Ali Quli Qarai
And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment."Saheeh International
-
38:42
ٱرْكُضْ بِرِ
جْ لِكَ ۖ هَٰ ذَا مُغْتَسَلٌۢ ب َارِدٌ ۭو َشَرَا ب ٌۭ ٤٢Orkud birijlika hathamughtasalun baridun washarab
[We told him:] ‘Stamp your foot on the ground; this [ensuing spring] will be a cooling bath and drink.’Ali Quli Qarai
[So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for a] cool bath and drink."Saheeh International
-
38:43
وَوَهَ
بْ نَا لَهُۥٓ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم م َّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً ۭم ِّنّ َا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟ لِىٱ لْأَلْبَٰ ب ِ ٤٣Wawahabna lahu ahlahu wamithlahummaAAahum rahmatan minna wathikrali-olee al-albab
We gave [back] his family to him along with others like them, as a mercy from Us and an admonition for those who possess intellect.Ali Quli Qarai
And We granted him his family and a like [number] with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for those of understanding.Saheeh International
-
38:44
وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْ
ثً ۭا ف َٱ ضْرِب بِّهِۦ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ ۗ إِنّ َا وَجَدْ نَٰ هُ صَابِرً ۭا ۚ ن ِّعْمَٱ لْعَبْ دُ ۖ إِنّ َهُۥٓ أَوَّا ب ٌۭ ٤٤Wakhuth biyadika dighthan fadribbihi wala tahnath inna wajadnahu sabiranniAAma alAAabdu innahu awwab
[We told him:] ‘Take a faggot in your hand and then strike [your wife] with it, but do not break [your] oath.’ Indeed, We found him to be patient. What an excellent servant! Indeed he was a penitent [soul].Ali Quli Qarai
[We said], "And take in your hand a bunch [of grass] and strike with it and do not break your oath." Indeed, We found him patient, an excellent servant. Indeed, he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allāh].Saheeh International
-
38:45
وَ
ٱ ذْكُرْ عِبَٰ دَنَآ إِبْ رَٰ هِيمَ وَإِسْحَٰ قَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُو۟ لِىٱ لْأَيْدِى وَٱ لْأَبْ صَٰ رِ ٤٥Wathkur AAibadanaibraheema wa-ishaqa wayaAAqooba olee al-aydee wal-absar
And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of strength and insight.Ali Quli Qarai
And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision.Saheeh International
-
38:46
إِ
نّ َآ أَخْلَصْنَٰ هُم ب ِخَالِصَةٍ ۢذ ِكْرَىٱ ل دَّا رِ ٤٦Inna akhlasnahum bikhalisatinthikra addar
Indeed We purified them with exclusive remembrance of the abode [of the Hereafter].Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We chose them for an exclusive quality: remembrance of the home [of the Hereafter].Saheeh International
-
38:47
وَإِ
نّ َهُمْ عِند َنَا لَمِنَٱ لْمُصْطَفَيْنَٱ لْأَخْيَا رِ ٤٧Wa-innahum AAindana lamina almustafaynaal-akhyar
Indeed they are surely with Us among the elect of the best.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed they are, to Us, among the chosen and outstanding.Saheeh International
-
38:48
وَ
ٱ ذْكُرْ إِسْمَٰ عِيلَ وَٱ لْيَسَعَ وَذَاٱ لْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّ ۭم ِّنَٱ لْأَخْيَا رِ ٤٨Wathkur ismaAAeelawa-ilyasaAAa watha alkifli wakullun mina al-akhyar
And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhu’l-Kifl—each [of whom was] among the elect.Ali Quli Qarai
And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding.Saheeh International
-
38:49
هَ
ٰ ذَا ذِكْرٌ ۭۚ و َإِنّ َ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مََٔا ب ٍۢ ٤٩Hatha thikrun wa-innalilmuttaqeena lahusna maab
This is a Reminder, and indeed the Godwary have a good destination:Ali Quli Qarai
This is a reminder. And indeed, for the righteous is a good place of return -Saheeh International
-
38:50
جَ
نّ َٰ تِ عَدْ نٍ ۢم ُّفَتَّحَةً ۭل َّهُمُٱ لْأَبْ وَٰ ب ُ ٥٠Jannati AAadnin mufattahatanlahumu al-abwab
the Gardens of Eden, whose gates will be flung open for them.Ali Quli Qarai
Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them.Saheeh International
-
38:51
مُتَّكِِٔينَ فِيهَا يَ
دْ عُونَ فِيهَا بِفَٰ كِهَةٍ ۢك َثِيرَةٍ ۢو َشَرَا ب ٍۢ ٥١Muttaki-eena feeha yadAAoona feehabifakihatin katheeratin washarab
Reclining therein [on couches], they will call for abundant fruits and drinks,Ali Quli Qarai
Reclining within them, they will call therein for abundant fruit and drink.Saheeh International
-
38:52
۞ وَعِ
ند َهُمْ قَٰ صِرَٰ تُٱ ل طَّرْفِ أَتْرَا ب ٌ ٥٢WaAAindahum qasiratu attarfiatrab
and there will be with them maidens of restrained glances, of a like age.Ali Quli Qarai
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances and of equal age.Saheeh International
-
38:53
هَ
ٰ ذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِٱ لْحِسَا ب ِ ٥٣Hatha ma tooAAadoona liyawmialhisab
This is what you are promised on the Day of Reckoning.Ali Quli Qarai
This is what you, [the righteous], are promised for the Day of Account.Saheeh International
-
38:54
إِ
نّ َ هَٰ ذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُۥ مِن ن َّفَا د ٍ ٥٤Inna hatha larizquna malahu min nafad
This is Our provision, which will never be exhausted.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, this is Our provision; for it there is no depletion.Saheeh International
-
38:55
هَ
ٰ ذَا ۚ وَإِنّ َ لِلطَّٰ غِينَ لَشَرَّ مََٔا ب ٍۢ ٥٥Hatha wa-inna littagheenalasharra maab
This [will be for the righteous], and as for the rebellious there will surely be a bad destination:Ali Quli Qarai
This [is so]. But indeed, for the transgressors is an evil place of return -Saheeh International
-
38:56
جَهَ
نّ َمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَٱ لْمِهَا د ُ ٥٦Jahannama yaslawnaha fabi/saalmihad
hell, which they shall enter, an evil resting place.Ali Quli Qarai
Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the resting place.Saheeh International
-
38:57
هَ
ٰ ذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ ۭو َغَسَّا ق ٌۭ ٥٧Hatha falyathooqoohu hameemunwaghassaq
[They will be told, ‘This is scalding water and pus; let them taste it,Ali Quli Qarai
This - so let them taste it - is scalding water and [foul] purulence.Saheeh International
-
38:58
وَءَاخَرُ مِ
ن ش َكْلِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰ ج ٌ ٥٨Waakharu min shaklihi azwaj
and other kinds [of torments] resembling it.’Ali Quli Qarai
And other [punishments] of its type [in various] kinds.Saheeh International
-
38:59
هَ
ٰ ذَا فَوْجٌ ۭم ُّقْ تَحِمٌ ۭم َّعَكُمْ ۖ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا ب ِهِمْ ۚ إِنّ َهُمْ صَالُوا۟ ٱ ل نّ َا رِ ٥٩Hatha fawjun muqtahimunmaAAakum la marhaban bihim innahum saloo annar
[The leaders of the faithless will be told,] ‘This is a group [of your followers] plunging [into hell] along with you.’ [They will repond,] ‘May wretchedness be their lot! For they will enter the Fire.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Its inhabitants will say], "This is a company bursting in with you. No welcome for them. Indeed, they will burn in the Fire."Saheeh International
-
38:60
قَالُو
ا۟ بَلْ أَنت ُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا ب ِكُمْ ۖ أَنت ُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا ۖ فَبِئْسَٱ لْقَرَا رُ ٦٠Qaloo bal antum la marhabanbikum antum qaddamtumoohu lana fabi/sa alqarar
They will say, ‘No, may wretchedness be your lot! You prepared this [hell] for us. What an evil abode!’Ali Quli Qarai
They will say, "Nor you! No welcome for you. You, [our leaders], brought this upon us, and wretched is the settlement."Saheeh International
-
38:61
قَالُو
ا۟ رَبَّنَا مَن ق َدَّمَ لَنَا هَٰ ذَا فَزِدْ هُ عَذَابً ۭا ض ِعْفً ۭا ف ِىٱ ل نّ َا رِ ٦١Qaloo rabbana man qaddama lanahatha fazidhu AAathaban diAAfan fee annar
They will say, ‘Our Lord! Whoever has prepared this for us, double his punishment in the Fire!’Ali Quli Qarai
They will say, "Our Lord, whoever brought this upon us - increase for him double punishment in the Fire."Saheeh International
-
38:62
وَقَالُو
ا۟ مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالً ۭاك ُنّ َا نَعُدُّهُم م ِّنَٱ لْأَشْرَا رِ ٦٢Waqaloo ma lana lanara rijalan kunna naAAudduhum mina al-ashrar
And they will say, ‘Why is it that we do not see [here] men whom we used to count among the bad ones,Ali Quli Qarai
And they will say, "Why do we not see men whom we used to count among the worst?Saheeh International
-
38:63
أَتَّخَذْنَ
ٰ هُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُٱ لْأَبْ صَٰ رُ ٦٣Attakhathnahum sikhriyyan am zaghatAAanhumu al-absar
ridiculing them, or do [our] eyes miss them [here]?’Ali Quli Qarai
Is it [because] we took them in ridicule, or has [our] vision turned away from them?"Saheeh International
-
38:64
إِ
نّ َ ذَٰ لِكَ لَحَقٌّ ۭت َخَاصُمُ أَهْلِٱ ل نّ َا رِ ٦٤Inna thalika lahaqqun takhasumuahli annar
That is indeed a true account of the contentions of the inmates of the Fire.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, that is truth [i.e., reality] - the quarreling of the people of the Fire.Saheeh International
-
38:65
قُلْ إِ
نّ َمَآ أَنَا۠ مُنذ ِرٌ ۭۖ و َمَا مِنْ إِلَٰ هٍ إِلَّاٱ للَّهُٱ لْوَٰ حِدُٱ لْقَهَّا رُ ٦٥Qul innama ana munthirunwama min ilahin illa Allahu alwahidualqahhar
Say, ‘I am just a warner, and there is no god except Allah, the One, the All-paramount,Ali Quli Qarai
Say, [O Muḥammad], "I am only a warner, and there is not any deity except Allāh, the One, the Prevailing,Saheeh International
-
38:66
رَبُّ
ٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَاٱ لْعَزِيزُٱ لْغَفَّٰ رُ ٦٦Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma alAAazeezu alghaffar
the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the All-mighty, the All-forgiver.’Ali Quli Qarai
Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver."Saheeh International
-
38:67
قُلْ هُوَ نَبَؤٌا۟ عَظ
ِي مٌ ٦٧Qul huwa nabaon AAatheem
Say, ‘It is a great prophesy,Ali Quli Qarai
Say, "It is great newsSaheeh International
-
38:68
أَ
نت ُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُو نَ ٦٨Antum AAanhu muAAridoon
of which you are disregardful.Ali Quli Qarai
From which you turn away.Saheeh International
-
38:69
مَا كَانَ لِىَ مِنْ عِلْ
مٍۭ ب ِٱ لْمَلَإِٱ لْأَعْلَىٰٓ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُو نَ ٦٩Ma kana liya min AAilmin bilmala-ial-aAAla ith yakhtasimoon
I have no knowledge of the Supernal Elite when they contend.Ali Quli Qarai
I had no knowledge of the exalted assembly [of angels] when they were disputing [the creation of Adam].Saheeh International
-
38:70
إ
ِن ي ُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ إِلَّآ أَنّ َمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ ۭم ُّبِي نٌ ٧٠In yooha ilayya illa annamaana natheerun mubeen
All that is revealed to me is that I am just a manifest warner.’Ali Quli Qarai
It has not been revealed to me except that I am a clear warner."Saheeh International
-
38:71
إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَ
ٰٓ ئِكَةِ إِنّ ِى خَٰ لِقٌۢ ب َشَرً ۭا م ِّن ط ِي نٍۢ ٧١Ith qala rabbuka lilmala-ikatiinnee khaliqun basharan min teen
When your Lord said to the angels, ‘Indeed I am about to create a human being out of clay.Ali Quli Qarai
[So mention] when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I am going to create a human being from clay.Saheeh International
-
38:72
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ
ۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن ر ُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَٰ جِدِي نَ ٧٢Fa-itha sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehimin roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideen
So when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down in prostration before him.’Ali Quli Qarai
So when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."Saheeh International
-
38:73
فَسَجَدَ
ٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْ مَعُو نَ ٧٣Fasajada almala-ikatu kulluhumajmaAAoon
Thereat the angels prostrated, all of them together,Ali Quli Qarai
So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely,Saheeh International
-
38:74
إِلّ
َآ إِبْ لِيسَٱ سْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَٱ لْكَٰ فِرِي نَ ٧٤Illa ibleesa istakbara wakanamina alkafireen
but not Iblis; he acted arrogantly and he was one of the faithless.Ali Quli Qarai
Except Iblees; he was arrogant and became among the disbelievers.Saheeh International
-
38:75
قَالَ يَ
ٰٓ إِبْ لِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن ت َسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْ تُ بِيَدَىَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنت َ مِنَٱ لْعَالِي نَ ٧٥Qala ya ibleesu mamanaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta amkunta mina alAAaleen
He said, ‘O Iblis! What keeps you from prostrating before that which I have created with My [own] two hands? Are you arrogant, or are you one of the exalted ones?’Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the haughty?"Saheeh International
-
38:76
قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْ
رٌ ۭم ِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْ تَنِى مِن ن َّارٍ ۢو َخَلَقْ تَهُۥ مِن ط ِي نٍۢ ٧٦Qala ana khayrun minhukhalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teen
‘I am better than him,’ he said. ‘You created me from fire and You created him from clay.’Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay."Saheeh International
-
38:77
قَالَ فَ
ٱ خْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنّ َكَ رَجِي مٌۭ ٧٧Qala fakhruj minhafa-innaka rajeem
He said, ‘Begone hence, for you are indeed an outcast,Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "Then get out of it [i.e., Paradise], for indeed, you are expelled.Saheeh International
-
38:78
وَإِ
نّ َ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِٱ ل دِّي نِ ٧٨Wa-inna AAalayka laAAnatee ila yawmiaddeen
and indeed My curse will be on you till the Day of Retribution.’Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, upon you is My curse until the Day of Recompense."Saheeh International
-
38:79
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَ
نظ ِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْ عَثُو نَ ٧٩Qala rabbi faanthirneeila yawmi yubAAathoon
He said, ‘My Lord! Respite me till the day they will be resurrected.’Ali Quli Qarai
He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."Saheeh International
-
38:80
قَالَ فَإِ
نّ َكَ مِنَٱ لْمُنظ َرِي نَ ٨٠Qala fa-innaka mina almunthareen
Said He, ‘You are indeed among the reprievedAli Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprievedSaheeh International
-
38:81
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ
ٱ لْوَقْ تِٱ لْمَعْلُو مِ ٨١Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloom
until the day of the known time.’Ali Quli Qarai
Until the Day of the time well-known."Saheeh International
-
38:82
قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَ
نّ َهُمْ أَجْ مَعِي نَ ٨٢Qala fabiAAizzatika laoghwiyannahumajmaAAeen
He said, ‘By Your might, I will surely pervert them,Ali Quli Qarai
[Iblees] said, "By Your might, I will surely mislead them allSaheeh International
-
38:83
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ
ٱ لْمُخْلَصِي نَ ٨٣Illa AAibadaka minhumualmukhlaseen
except Your exclusive servants among them.’Ali Quli Qarai
Except, among them, Your chosen servants."Saheeh International
-
38:84
قَالَ فَ
ٱ لْحَقُّ وَٱ لْحَقَّ أَقُو لُ ٨٤Qala falhaqqu walhaqqaaqool
Said He, ‘The truth is that—and I speak the truth—Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh] said, "The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say -Saheeh International
-
38:85
لَأَمْلَأَ
نّ َ جَهَنّ َمَ مِنك َ وَمِمّ َن ت َبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْ مَعِي نَ ٨٥Laamlaanna jahannama minka wamimmantabiAAaka minhum ajmaAAeen
I will surely fill hell with you and all those who follow you.’Ali Quli Qarai
[That] I will surely fill Hell with you and those of them that follow you all together."Saheeh International
-
38:86
قُلْ م
َآ أَسَْٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْ رٍ ۢو َمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَٱ لْمُتَكَلِّفِي نَ ٨٦Qul ma as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrinwama ana mina almutakallifeen
Say, ‘I do not ask you any reward for it, and I am no impostor.Ali Quli Qarai
Say, [O Muḥammad], "I do not ask you for it [i.e., the Qur’ān] any payment, and I am not of the pretentious.Saheeh International
-
38:87
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْ
رٌ ۭل ِّلْعَٰ لَمِي نَ ٨٧In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameen
It is just a reminder for all the nations,Ali Quli Qarai
It is but a reminder to the worlds.Saheeh International
-
38:88
وَلَتَعْلَمُ
نّ َ نَبَأَهُۥ بَعْدَ حِي نٍۭ ٨٨WalataAAlamunna nabaahu baAAda heen
and you will surely learn its tidings in due time.’Ali Quli Qarai
And you will surely know [the truth of] its information after a time."Saheeh International
