Az-Zukhruf · The Ornaments of Gold

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
43:1
حمٓ ١
Ha-meem
QaraiHa, Meem.
Saheeh InternationalḤā, Meem.
-
43:2
وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ٢
Walkitabi almubeen
QaraiBy the Manifest Book:
Saheeh InternationalBy the clear Book,
-
43:3
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ٣
Inna jaAAalnahu qur-ananAAarabiyyan laAAallakum taAAqiloona
QaraiWe have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may exercise your reason,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’ān that you might understand.
-
43:4
وَإِنَّهُۥ فِىٓ أُمِّ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِىٌّ حَكِيمٌ ٤
Wa-innahu fee ommi alkitabi ladaynalaAAaliyyun hakeem
Qaraiand it is sublime and wise with Us in the Mother Book.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.
-
43:5
أَفَنَضْرِبُ عَنكُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَ صَفْحًا أَن كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا مُّسْرِفِينَ ٥
Afanadribu AAankumu aththikrasafhan an kuntum qawman musrifeen
QaraiShall We keep back the Reminder from you and disregard you because you are an unrestrained lot?
Saheeh InternationalThen should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?
-
43:6
وَكَمْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن نَّبِىٍّ فِى ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٦
Wakam arsalna min nabiyyin feeal-awwaleen
QaraiHow many a prophet We have sent to the former peoples!
Saheeh InternationalAnd how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,
-
43:7
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِىٍّ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ٧
Wama ya/teehim min nabiyyin illakanoo bihi yastahzi-oon
QaraiThere did not come to them any prophet but that they used to deride him.
Saheeh InternationalBut there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.
-
43:8
فَأَهْلَكْنَآ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٨
Faahlakna ashadda minhum batshanwamada mathalu al-awwaleen
QaraiSo We destroyed those who were stronger than these, and the example of the former peoples has already come to pass.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.
-
43:9
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٩
Wala-in saaltahum man khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda layaqoolunna khalaqahunna alAAazeezualAAaleem
QaraiIf you ask them, ‘Who created the heavens and the earth?’ they will surely say, ‘The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing,"

43:10
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ ١٠
Allathee jaAAala lakumu al-ardamahdan wajaAAala lakum feeha subulan laAAallakum tahtadoon
QaraiHe, who made the earth a cradle for you, and made for you in it ways so that you may be guided [to your destinations],
Saheeh International[The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided
-
43:11
وَٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۢ بِقَدَرٍ فَأَنشَرْنَا بِهِۦ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ ١١
Wallathee nazzala mina assama-imaan biqadarin faansharna bihi baldatan maytan kathalikatukhrajoon
Qaraiand who sent down water from the sky in a measured manner, and We revived with it a dead country. Likewise, you shall be raised [from the dead].
Saheeh InternationalAnd who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth -
-
43:12
وَٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْفُلْكِ وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ مَا تَرْكَبُونَ ١٢
Wallathee khalaqa al-azwajakullaha wajaAAala lakum mina alfulki wal-anAAamima tarkaboon
QaraiHe created all the kinds and made for you the ships and the cattle such which you ride,
Saheeh InternationalAnd who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount
-
43:13
لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِۦ ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا ٱسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُوا۟ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُۥ مُقْرِنِينَ ١٣
Litastawoo AAala thuhoorihithumma tathkuroo niAAmata rabbikum itha istawaytumAAalayhi wataqooloo subhana allathee sakhkhara lanahatha wama kunna lahu muqrineen
Qaraithat you may sit on their backs, then remember the blessing of your Lord when you are settled on them, and say, ‘Immaculate is He who has disposed this for us, and we [by ourselves] were no match for it.
Saheeh InternationalThat you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.
-
43:14
وَإِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ ١٤
Wa-inna ila rabbinalamunqaliboon
QaraiIndeed we shall return to our Lord.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return."
-
43:15
وَجَعَلُوا۟ لَهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ جُزْءًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَكَفُورٌ مُّبِينٌ ١٥
WajaAAaloo lahu min AAibadihi juz-aninna al-insana lakafoorun mubeen
QaraiThey ascribe to Him offspring from among His servants! Man is indeed a manifest ingrate.
Saheeh InternationalBut they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful.
-
43:16
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذَ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ بَنَاتٍ وَأَصْفَىٰكُم بِٱلْبَنِينَ ١٦
Ami ittakhatha mimma yakhluqubanatin waasfakum bilbaneen
QaraiDid He adopt daughters from what He creates while He preferred you with sons?
Saheeh InternationalOr has He taken, out of what He has created, daughters and chosen you for [having] sons?
-
43:17
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ ١٧
Wa-itha bushshira ahaduhum bimadaraba lirrahmani mathalan thallawajhuhu muswaddan wahuwa katheem
QaraiWhen one of them is brought the news of what he ascribes to the All-beneficent, his face becomes darkened and he chokes with suppressed rage, [and says]
Saheeh InternationalAnd when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison [i.e., a daughter], his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
-
43:18
أَوَمَن يُنَشَّؤُا۟ فِى ٱلْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِى ٱلْخِصَامِ غَيْرُ مُبِينٍ ١٨
Awaman yunashshao fee alhilyatiwahuwa fee alkhisami ghayru mubeen
Qarai‘What! One who is brought up amid ornaments and is inconspicuous in contests?’
Saheeh InternationalSo is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allāh]?
-
43:19
وَجَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عِبَٰدُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ إِنَٰثًا ۚ أَشَهِدُوا۟ خَلْقَهُمْ ۚ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَٰدَتُهُمْ وَيُسَْٔلُونَ ١٩
WajaAAaloo almala-ikata allatheenahum AAibadu arrahmani inathanashahidoo khalqahum satuktabu shahadatuhum wayus-aloon
QaraiThey have made the angels—who are servants of the All-beneficent—females. Were they witness to their creation? Their testimony will be written down and they shall be questioned.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they described the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, as females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.
-
43:20
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ مَا عَبَدْنَٰهُم ۗ مَّا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ ٢٠
Waqaloo law shaa arrahmanuma AAabadnahum ma lahum bithalika minAAilmin in hum illa yakhrusoon
QaraiThey say, ‘Had the All-beneficent wished, we would not have worshipped them.’ They do not have any knowledge of that, and they do nothing but surmise.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They have of that no knowledge. They are not but misjudging.
-
43:21
أَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ كِتَٰبًا مِّن قَبْلِهِۦ فَهُم بِهِۦ مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ ٢١
Am ataynahum kitabanmin qablihi fahum bihi mustamsikoon
QaraiDid We give them a Book before this, so that they are holding fast to it?
Saheeh InternationalOr have We given them a book before it [i.e., the Qur’ān] to which they are adhering?
-
43:22
بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ ٢٢
Bal qaloo inna wajadna abaanaAAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihimmuhtadoon
QaraiNo, they said, ‘We found our fathers following a creed, and we are indeed guided in their footsteps.’
Saheeh InternationalRather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."
-
43:23
وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَآ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ ٢٣
Wakathalika ma arsalnamin qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qalamutrafooha inna wajadna abaanaAAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihimmuqtadoon
QaraiSo it has been that We did not send any warner to a town before you, without its affluent ones saying, ‘We found our fathers following a creed and we are indeed following in their footsteps.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."

43:24
۞ قَٰلَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم بِأَهْدَىٰ مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ ٢٤
Qala awa law ji/tukum bi-ahdamimma wajadtum AAalayhi abaakum qalooinna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroon
QaraiHe would say, ‘What! Even if I bring you a better guidance than what you found your fathers following?!’ They would say, ‘We indeed disbelieve in what you are sent with.’
Saheeh International[Each warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."

43:25
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ ۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٢٥
Fantaqamna minhum fanthurkayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeen
QaraiThereupon We took vengeance on them; so observe how was the fate of the deniers.
Saheeh InternationalSo We took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers.
-
43:26
وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّنِى بَرَآءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ ٢٦
Wa-ith qala ibraheemuli-abeehi waqawmihi innanee baraon mimma taAAbudoon
QaraiWhen Abraham said to his father and his people, ‘I repudiate what you worship,
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship
-
43:27
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنِى فَإِنَّهُۥ سَيَهْدِينِ ٢٧
Illa allathee fataraneefa-innahu sayahdeen
Qaraiexcepting Him who originated me; indeed He will guide me.’
Saheeh InternationalExcept for He who created me; and indeed, He will guide me."
-
43:28
وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةًۢ بَاقِيَةً فِى عَقِبِهِۦ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ ٢٨
WajaAAalaha kalimatan baqiyatanfee AAaqibihi laAAallahum yarjiAAoon
QaraiHe made it a lasting word among his posterity so that they may come back [to the right path].
Saheeh InternationalAnd he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it].
-
43:29
بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ وَرَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ ٢٩
Bal mattaAAtu haola-i waabaahumhatta jaahumu alhaqqu warasoolunmubeen
QaraiIndeed, I provided for these and their fathers until the truth and a manifest apostle came to them.
Saheeh InternationalHowever, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth and a clear Messenger.
-
43:30
وَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ وَإِنَّا بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ ٣٠
Walamma jaahumu alhaqquqaloo hatha sihrun wa-inna bihi kafiroon
QaraiBut when the truth came to them, they said, ‘This is magic, and we indeed disbelieve in it.’
Saheeh InternationalBut when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers."
-
43:31
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنَ ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ ٣١
Waqaloo lawla nuzzila hathaalqur-anu AAala rajulin mina alqaryatayni AAatheem
QaraiAnd they said, ‘Why was not this Quran sent down to some great man from the two cities?’
Saheeh InternationalAnd they said, "Why was this Qur’ān not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"
-
43:32
أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَتَ رَبِّكَ ۚ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَٰتٍ لِّيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا ۗ وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ ٣٢
Ahum yaqsimoona rahmata rabbika nahnuqasamna baynahum maAAeeshatahum fee alhayatiaddunya warafaAAna baAAdahum fawqabaAAdin darajatin liyattakhitha baAAduhumbaAAdan sukhriyyan warahmatu rabbika khayrun mimmayajmaAAoon
QaraiIs it they who dispense the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have dispensed among them their livelihood in the present life, and raised some of them above others in rank, so that some may take others into service, and your Lord’s mercy is better than what they amass.
Saheeh InternationalDo they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.
-
43:33
وَلَوْلَآ أَن يَكُونَ ٱلنَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً لَّجَعَلْنَا لِمَن يَكْفُرُ بِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفًا مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَمَعَارِجَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْهَرُونَ ٣٣
Walawla an yakoona annasuommatan wahidatan lajaAAalna liman yakfuru birrahmanilibuyootihim suqufan min fiddatin wamaAAarijaAAalayha yathharoon
QaraiWere it not [for the danger] that mankind would be one community, We would have made for those who defy the All-beneficent, silver roofs for their houses and [silver] stairways by which they ascend,
Saheeh InternationalAnd if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount.
-
43:34
وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ أَبْوَٰبًا وَسُرُرًا عَلَيْهَا يَتَّكُِٔونَ ٣٤
Walibuyootihim abwaban wasururanAAalayha yattaki-oon
Qaraiand [silver] doors for their houses and [silver] couches on which they recline,
Saheeh InternationalAnd for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline
-
43:35
وَزُخْرُفًا ۚ وَإِن كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَٱلَْٔاخِرَةُ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ ٣٥
Wazukhrufan wa-in kullu thalika lammamataAAu alhayati addunya wal-akhiratuAAinda rabbika lilmuttaqeen
Qaraiand ornaments of gold; yet all that would be nothing but the wares of the life of this world, and the Hereafter is for the Godwary near your Lord.
Saheeh InternationalAnd gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.
-
43:36
وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُۥ شَيْطَٰنًا فَهُوَ لَهُۥ قَرِينٌ ٣٦
Waman yaAAshu AAan thikri arrahmaninuqayyid lahu shaytanan fahuwa lahu qareen
QaraiWe assign a devil to be the companion of him who turns a blind eye to the remembrance of the All-beneficent.
Saheeh InternationalAnd whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.
-
43:37
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ ٣٧
Wa-innahum layasuddoonahum AAani assabeeliwayahsaboona annahum muhtadoon
QaraiIndeed they bar them from the way [of Allah], while they suppose that they are [rightly] guided.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, they [i.e., the devils] avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided
-
43:38
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَنَا قَالَ يَٰلَيْتَ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْقَرِينُ ٣٨
Hatta itha jaanaqala ya layta baynee wabaynaka buAAda almashriqaynifabi/sa alqareen
QaraiWhen he comes to Us, he will say, ‘I wish there had been between me and you the distance between the east and the west! What an evil companion [you are]!’
Saheeh InternationalUntil, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "How I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west; and what a wretched companion."
-
43:39
وَلَن يَنفَعَكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ إِذ ظَّلَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ ٣٩
Walan yanfaAAakumu alyawma ith thalamtumannakum fee alAAathabi mushtarikoon
Qarai‘Today that will be of no avail to you. As you did wrong, so will you share in the punishment.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment.
-
43:40
أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ أَوْ تَهْدِى ٱلْعُمْىَ وَمَن كَانَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٤٠
Afaanta tusmiAAu assumma awtahdee alAAumya waman kana fee dalalinmubeen
QaraiCan you, then, make the deaf hear or guide the blind and those who are in manifest error?
Saheeh InternationalThen will you make the deaf hear, [O Muḥammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?
-
43:41
فَإِمَّا نَذْهَبَنَّ بِكَ فَإِنَّا مِنْهُم مُّنتَقِمُونَ ٤١
Fa-imma nathhabanna bikafa-inna minhum muntaqimoon
QaraiWe will indeed take vengeance on them, whether We take you away
Saheeh InternationalAnd whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them.
-
43:42
أَوْ نُرِيَنَّكَ ٱلَّذِى وَعَدْنَٰهُمْ فَإِنَّا عَلَيْهِم مُّقْتَدِرُونَ ٤٢
Aw nuriyannaka allathee waAAadnahumfa-inna AAalayhim muqtadiroon
Qaraior show you what We have promised them, for indeed We hold them in Our power.
Saheeh InternationalOr whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability.
-
43:43
فَٱسْتَمْسِكْ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ ٤٣
Fastamsik billatheeoohiya ilayka innaka AAala siratinmustaqeem
QaraiSo hold fast to what has been revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.
Saheeh InternationalSo adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.

43:44
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَذِكْرٌ لَّكَ وَلِقَوْمِكَ ۖ وَسَوْفَ تُسَْٔلُونَ ٤٤
Wa-innahu lathikrun laka waliqawmikawasawfa tus-aloon
QaraiIndeed it is a reminder for you and your people, and soon you will be questioned.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned.
-
43:45
وَسَْٔلْ مَنْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَآ أَجَعَلْنَا مِن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ءَالِهَةً يُعْبَدُونَ ٤٥
Was-al man arsalna minqablika min rusulina ajaAAalna min dooni arrahmanialihatan yuAAbadoon
QaraiAsk those of Our apostles We have sent before you: Did We set up any gods to be worshipped besides the All-beneficent?
Saheeh InternationalAnd ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped?
-
43:46
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بَِٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ فَقَالَ إِنِّى رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٤٦
Walaqad arsalna moosa bi-ayatinaila firAAawna wamala-ihi faqala innee rasoolu rabbialAAalameen
QaraiCertainly We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his elite. He said, ‘I am indeed an apostle of the Lord of all the worlds.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."
-
43:47
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بَِٔايَٰتِنَآ إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَضْحَكُونَ ٤٧
Falamma jaahum bi-ayatinaitha hum minha yadhakoon
QaraiBut when he brought them Our signs, they indeed laughed at them.
Saheeh InternationalBut when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.
-
43:48
وَمَا نُرِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ إِلَّا هِىَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا ۖ وَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ ٤٨
Wama nureehim min ayatin illahiya akbaru min okhtiha waakhathnahum bilAAathabilaAAallahum yarjiAAoon
QaraiWe did not show them a sign but it was greater than the other, and We visited on them punishment so that they might come back.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].
-
43:49
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَ ٱلسَّاحِرُ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ إِنَّنَا لَمُهْتَدُونَ ٤٩
Waqaloo ya ayyuha asahiruodAAu lana rabbaka bima AAahida AAindaka innanalamuhtadoon
QaraiThey would say, ‘O magician! Invoke your Lord for us by the covenant He has made with you [to remove this scourge]. We will indeed be guided [when it is removed].’
Saheeh InternationalAnd they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. Indeed, we will be guided."
-
43:50
فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ ٥٠
Falamma kashafna AAanhumualAAathaba itha hum yankuthoon
QaraiBut when We lifted the punishment from them, behold, they would break their pledge.
Saheeh InternationalBut when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.
-
43:51
وَنَادَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى قَوْمِهِۦ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَلَيْسَ لِى مُلْكُ مِصْرَ وَهَٰذِهِ ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِىٓ ۖ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ ٥١
Wanada firAAawnu fee qawmihi qalaya qawmi alaysa lee mulku misra wahathihial-anharu tajree min tahtee afala tubsiroon
QaraiAnd Pharaoh proclaimed to his people, saying, ‘O my people! Do not the kingdom of Egypt and these rivers that run at my feet belong to me? Do you not perceive?
Saheeh InternationalAnd Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does not the kingdom of Egypt belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see?
-
43:52
أَمْ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ مَهِينٌ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ ٥٢
Am ana khayrun min hatha allatheehuwa maheenun wala yakadu yubeen
QaraiAm I not better than this wretch who cannot even speak clearly?
Saheeh InternationalOr am I [not] better than this one [i.e., Moses] who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?
-
43:53
فَلَوْلَآ أُلْقِىَ عَلَيْهِ أَسْوِرَةٌ مِّن ذَهَبٍ أَوْ جَآءَ مَعَهُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ مُقْتَرِنِينَ ٥٣
Falawla olqiya AAalayhi aswiratun minthahabin aw jaa maAAahu almala-ikatumuqtarineen
QaraiWhy no bracelets of gold have been thrown to him, nor any angels accompany him as escorts?’
Saheeh InternationalThen why have there not been placed upon him bracelets of gold or come with him the angels in conjunction?"
-
43:54
فَٱسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُۥ فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا فَٰسِقِينَ ٥٤
Fastakhaffa qawmahu faataAAoohuinnahum kanoo qawman fasiqeen
QaraiThus did he mislead his people and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were a transgressing lot.
Saheeh InternationalSo he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allāh].
-
43:55
فَلَمَّآ ءَاسَفُونَا ٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٥٥
Falamma asafoonaintaqamna minhum faaghraqnahum ajmaAAeen
QaraiSo when they roused Our wrath, We took vengeance on them and drowned them all.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.
-
43:56
فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ سَلَفًا وَمَثَلًا لِّلَْٔاخِرِينَ ٥٦
FajaAAalnahum salafan wamathalan lil-akhireen
QaraiThus We made them the vanguard and an example for posterity.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We made them a precedent and an example for the later peoples.
-
43:57
۞ وَلَمَّا ضُرِبَ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ مَثَلًا إِذَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْهُ يَصِدُّونَ ٥٧
Walamma duriba ibnu maryamamathalan itha qawmuka minhu yasiddoon
QaraiWhen the Son of Mary was cited as an example, behold, your people raise an outcry.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.
-
43:58
وَقَالُوٓا۟ ءَأَٰلِهَتُنَا خَيْرٌ أَمْ هُوَ ۚ مَا ضَرَبُوهُ لَكَ إِلَّا جَدَلًۢا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُونَ ٥٨
Waqaloo aalihatunakhayrun am huwa ma daraboohu laka illajadalan bal hum qawmun khasimoon
QaraiThey say, ‘Are our gods better or he?’ They cite him to you only for the sake of contention. Indeed, they are a contentious lot.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not present it [i.e., the comparison] except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.
-
43:59
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُ مَثَلًا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٥٩
In huwa illa AAabdun anAAamnaAAalayhi wajaAAalnahu mathalan libanee isra-eel
QaraiHe was just a servant whom We had blessed and made an exemplar for the Children of Israel.
Saheeh InternationalHe [i.e., Jesus] was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.
-
43:60
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَا مِنكُم مَّلَٰٓئِكَةً فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ ٦٠
Walaw nashao lajaAAalna minkummala-ikatan fee al-ardi yakhlufoon
QaraiHad We wished We would have set angels in your stead to be [your] successors on the earth.
Saheeh InternationalAnd if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth.
-
43:61
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَعِلْمٌ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَٱتَّبِعُونِ ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ ٦١
Wa-innahu laAAilmun lissaAAatifala tamtarunna biha wattabiAAooni hathasiratun mustaqeem
Qarai[Say,] ‘Indeed he is a portent of the Hour; so do not doubt it and follow me. This is a straight path.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, he [i.e., Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.
-
43:62
وَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ ٦٢
Wala yasuddannakumu ashshaytanuinnahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeen
QaraiDo not let Satan bar you [from the way of Allah]. Indeed he is your manifest enemy.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
-
43:63
وَلَمَّا جَآءَ عِيسَىٰ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ قَالَ قَدْ جِئْتُكُم بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَلِأُبَيِّنَ لَكُم بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى تَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ٦٣
Walamma jaa AAeesa bilbayyinatiqala qad ji/tukum bilhikmati wali-obayyinalakum baAAda allathee takhtalifoona feehi fattaqooAllaha waateeAAoon
QaraiWhen Jesus brought those manifest proofs, he said, ‘I have certainly brought you wisdom, and [I have come] to make clear to you some of the things that you differ about. So be wary of Allah and obey me.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom [i.e., prophethood] and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allāh and obey me.
-
43:64
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ رَبِّى وَرَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ ٦٤
Inna Allaha huwa rabbee warabbukum faAAbudoohuhatha siratun mustaqeem
QaraiIndeed Allah is my Lord and your Lord; so worship Him. This is a straight path.’
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
-
43:65
فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمٍ أَلِيمٍ ٦٥
Fakhtalafa al-ahzabumin baynihim fawaylun lillatheena thalamoomin AAathabi yawmin aleem
QaraiBut the factions differed among themselves. So woe to the wrongdoers for the punishment of a painful day.
Saheeh InternationalBut the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.
-
43:66
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ٦٦
Hal yanthuroona illa assaAAataan ta/tiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroon
QaraiDo they not consider that the Hour may overtake them suddenly while they are unaware?
Saheeh InternationalAre they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?
-
43:67
ٱلْأَخِلَّآءُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ ٦٧
Al-akhillao yawma-ithin baAAduhumlibaAAdin AAaduwwun illa almuttaqeen
QaraiOn that day, friends will be one another’s enemies, except for the Godwary.
Saheeh InternationalClose friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
-
43:68
يَٰعِبَادِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَلَآ أَنتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ ٦٨
Ya AAibadi la khawfunAAalaykumu alyawma wala antum tahzanoon
Qarai[They will be told,] ‘O My servants! Today you will have no fear, nor will you grieve
Saheeh International[To whom Allāh will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,
-
43:69
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بَِٔايَٰتِنَا وَكَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ ٦٩
Allatheena amanoo bi-ayatinawakanoo muslimeen
Qarai—those who believed in Our signs and had been Muslims.
Saheeh International[You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.
-
43:70
ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ أَنتُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْ تُحْبَرُونَ ٧٠
Odkhuloo aljannata antum waazwajukumtuhbaroon
QaraiEnter paradise, you and your spouses, rejoicing.’
Saheeh InternationalEnter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
-
43:71
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِصِحَافٍ مِّن ذَهَبٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ ۖ وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ ٱلْأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ ٱلْأَعْيُنُ ۖ وَأَنتُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ ٧١
Yutafu AAalayhim bisihafinmin thahabin waakwabin wafeeha matashtaheehi al-anfusu watalaththu al-aAAyunu waantum feehakhalidoon
QaraiThey will be served around with golden dishes and goblets, and therein will be whatever the souls desire and eyes delight in. ‘You will remain in it [forever].
Saheeh InternationalCirculated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
-
43:72
وَتِلْكَ ٱلْجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٧٢
Watilka aljannatu allatee oorithtumoohabima kuntum taAAmaloon
QaraiThat is the paradise you have been given to inherit for what you used to do.
Saheeh InternationalAnd that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
-
43:73
لَكُمْ فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ مِّنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ ٧٣
Lakum feeha fakihatunkatheeratun minha ta/kuloon
QaraiThere are abundant fruits for you in it, from which you will eat.’
Saheeh InternationalFor you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.
-
43:74
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدُونَ ٧٤
Inna almujrimeena fee AAathabijahannama khalidoon
QaraiIndeed the guilty will remain [forever] in the punishment of hell.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
-
43:75
لَا يُفَتَّرُ عَنْهُمْ وَهُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ ٧٥
La yufattaru AAanhum wahum feehimublisoon
QaraiIt will not be lightened for them, and they will be despondent in it.
Saheeh InternationalIt will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.
-
43:76
وَمَا ظَلَمْنَٰهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٧٦
Wama thalamnahumwalakin kanoo humu aththalimeen
QaraiWe did not wrong them, but they themselves were wrongdoers.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
-
43:77
وَنَادَوْا۟ يَٰمَٰلِكُ لِيَقْضِ عَلَيْنَا رَبُّكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنَّكُم مَّٰكِثُونَ ٧٧
Wanadaw ya maliku liyaqdiAAalayna rabbuka qala innakum makithoon
QaraiThey will call out, ‘O Malik! Let your Lord finish us off!’ He will say, ‘Indeed you will stay on.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd they will call, "O Mālik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
-
43:78
لَقَدْ جِئْنَٰكُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَٰرِهُونَ ٧٨
Laqad ji/nakum bilhaqqiwalakinna aktharakum lilhaqqi karihoon
Qarai‘We certainly brought you the truth, but most of you were averse to the truth.’
Saheeh InternationalWe had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
-
43:79
أَمْ أَبْرَمُوٓا۟ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّا مُبْرِمُونَ ٧٩
Am abramoo amran fa-inna mubrimoon
QaraiHave they settled on some [devious] plan? Indeed, We too are settling [on Our plans].
Saheeh InternationalOr have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].
-
43:80
أَمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّا لَا نَسْمَعُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَىٰهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيْهِمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ٨٠
Am yahsaboona anna lanasmaAAu sirrahum wanajwahum bala warusulunaladayhim yaktuboon
QaraiDo they suppose that We do not hear their secret thoughts and their secret talks? Yes indeed [We do]! And with them are Our messengers, writing down [everything].
Saheeh InternationalOr do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers [i.e., angels] are with them recording.
-
43:81
قُلْ إِن كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدٌ فَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلْعَٰبِدِينَ ٨١
Qul in kana lirrahmaniwaladun faana awwalu alAAabideen
QaraiSay, ‘If the All-beneficent had offspring, I would have been the first to worship [him].’
Saheeh InternationalSay, [O Muḥammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."
-
43:82
سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ٨٢
Subhana rabbi assamawatiwal-ardi rabbi alAAarshi AAamma yasifoon
QaraiClear is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Throne, of whatever they allege [concerning Him]!
Saheeh InternationalExalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
-
43:83
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ٨٣
Fatharhum yakhoodoowayalAAaboo hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allatheeyooAAadoon
QaraiSo leave them to gossip and play until they encounter the day they are promised.
Saheeh InternationalSo leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.
-
43:84
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَٰهٌ وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَٰهٌ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٨٤
Wahuwa allathee fee assama-iilahun wafee al-ardi ilahun wahuwa alhakeemualAAaleem
QaraiIt is He who is God in the sky, and God on the earth, and He is the All-Wise, the All-Knowing.
Saheeh InternationalAnd it is He [i.e., Allāh] who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the Wise, the Knowing.
-
43:85
وَتَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ٨٥
Watabaraka allathee lahu mulkuassamawati wal-ardi wamabaynahuma waAAindahu AAilmu assaAAatiwa-ilayhi turjaAAoon
QaraiBlessed is He to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and with Him is the knowledge of the Hour, and to Him you will be brought back.
Saheeh InternationalAnd blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.
-
43:86
وَلَا يَمْلِكُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَن شَهِدَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ ٨٦
Wala yamliku allatheenayadAAoona min doonihi ashshafaAAata illaman shahida bilhaqqi wahum yaAAlamoon
QaraiThose whom they invoke besides Him have no power of intercession, except those who are witness to the truth and who know [for whom to intercede].
Saheeh InternationalAnd those they invoke besides Him do not possess [power of] intercession; but only those who testify to the truth [can benefit], and they know.
-
43:87
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ ٨٧
Wala-in saaltahum man khalaqahumlayaqoolunna Allahu faanna yu/fakoon
QaraiIf you ask them, ‘Who created them?’ they will surely say, ‘Allah.’ Then where do they stray?
Saheeh InternationalAnd if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allāh." So how are they deluded?
-
43:88
وَقِيلِهِۦ يَٰرَبِّ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٨٨
Waqeelihi ya rabbi inna haola-iqawmun la yu/minoon
QaraiAnd his plaint: ‘My Lord! Indeed these are a people who will not have faith!’
Saheeh InternationalAnd [Allāh acknowledges] his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."
-
43:89
فَٱصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ وَقُلْ سَلَٰمٌ ۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ٨٩
Fasfah AAanhum waqulsalamun fasawfa yaAAlamoon
