بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
44:1
حمٓ ١
Ha-meem
QaraiHa, Meem.
Saheeh InternationalḤā, Meem.
-
44:2
وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ٢
Walkitabi almubeen
QaraiBy the Manifest Book!
Saheeh InternationalBy the clear Book,
-
44:3
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ ٣
Inna anzalnahu fee laylatin mubarakatininna kunna munthireen
QaraiWe sent it down on a blessed night, and We have been warning [mankind].
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind].
-
44:4
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ ٤
Feeha yufraqu kullu amrin hakeem
QaraiEvery definitive matter is resolved on it,
Saheeh InternationalTherein [i.e., on that night] is made distinct every precise matter -
-
44:5
أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ ٥
Amran min AAindina inna kunnamursileen
Qaraias an ordinance from Us. We have been sending [apostles]
Saheeh International[Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger]
-
44:6
رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٦
Rahmatan min rabbika innahu huwa assameeAAualAAaleem
Qaraias a mercy from your Lord—indeed He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing—
Saheeh InternationalAs mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing,
-
44:7
رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ ٧
Rabbi assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineen
Qaraithe Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them, should you have conviction.
Saheeh InternationalLord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain.
-
44:8
لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٨
La ilaha illa huwa yuhyeewayumeetu rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumu al-awwaleen
QaraiThere is no god except Him: He gives life and brings death, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.
Saheeh InternationalThere is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers.
-
44:9
بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ ٩
Bal hum fee shakkin yalAAaboon
QaraiBut they play around in doubt.
Saheeh InternationalBut they are in doubt, amusing themselves.
-
44:10
فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ١٠
Fartaqib yawma ta/tee assamaobidukhanin mubeen
QaraiSo watch out for the day when the sky brings on a manifest smoke,
Saheeh InternationalThen watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke
-
44:11
يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ١١
Yaghsha annasa hathaAAathabun aleem
Qaraienveloping the people. [They will cry out:] ‘This is a painful punishment.
Saheeh InternationalCovering the people; this is a painful torment.
-
44:12
رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ ١٢
Rabbana ikshif AAanna alAAathabainna mu/minoon
QaraiOur Lord! Remove this punishment from us. Indeed we have believed!’
Saheeh International[They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers."
-
44:13
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ ١٣
Anna lahumu aththikrawaqad jaahum rasoolun mubeen
QaraiWhat will the admonition avail them, when a manifest apostle had already come to them,
Saheeh InternationalHow will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger.
-
44:14
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ ١٤
Thumma tawallaw AAanhu waqaloomuAAallamun majnoon
Qaraibut they turned away from him, and said, ‘A tutored madman?’
Saheeh InternationalThen they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman."
-
44:15
إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ ١٥
Inna kashifoo alAAathabiqaleelan innakum AAa-idoon
QaraiIndeed We will withdraw the punishment a little; but you will revert [to your earlier ways].
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief].
-
44:16
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ ١٦
Yawma nabtishu albatshataalkubra inna muntaqimoon
QaraiThe day We shall strike with the most terrible striking, We will indeed take vengeance [on them].
Saheeh InternationalThe Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution.
-
44:17
۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ ١٧
Walaqad fatanna qablahum qawmafirAAawna wajaahum rasoolun kareem
QaraiCertainly We tried the people of Pharaoh before them, when a noble apostle came to them,
Saheeh InternationalAnd We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger [i.e., Moses],
-
44:18
أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ١٨
An addoo ilayya AAibada Allahiinnee lakum rasoolun ameen
Qarai[saying,] ‘Give over the servants of Allah to me; indeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you.
Saheeh International[Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allāh. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger,"
-
44:19
وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ ١٩
Waan la taAAloo AAala Allahiinnee ateekum bisultanin mubeen
QaraiDo not defy Allah. Indeed I bring you a manifest authority.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [saying], "Be not haughty with Allāh. Indeed, I have come to you with clear evidence.
-
44:20
وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ ٢٠
Wa-innee AAuthtu birabbee warabbikuman tarjumoon
QaraiI seek the protection of my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.
-
44:21
وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ ٢١
Wa-in lam tu/minoo lee faAAtaziloon
QaraiAnd if you do not believe me, keep out of my way.’
Saheeh InternationalBut if you do not believe me, then leave me alone."
-
44:22
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ ٢٢
FadaAAa rabbahu anna haola-iqawmun mujrimoon
QaraiThen he invoked his Lord, [saying,] ‘These are indeed a guilty lot.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people.
-
44:23
فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ٢٣
Faasri biAAibadee laylan innakummuttabaAAoon
Qarai[Allah told him,] ‘Set out by night with My servants; for you will be pursued.
Saheeh International[Allāh said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued.
-
44:24
وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ ٢٤
Watruki albahra rahwaninnahum jundun mughraqoon
QaraiLeave behind the sea unmoving; for they will be a drowned host.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned."
-
44:25
كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ٢٥
Kam tarakoo min jannatin waAAuyoon
QaraiHow many gardens and springs did they leave behind!
Saheeh InternationalHow much they left behind of gardens and springs
-
44:26
وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ ٢٦
WazurooAAin wamaqamin kareem
QaraiFields and splendid places,
Saheeh InternationalAnd crops and noble sites
-
44:27
وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَٰكِهِينَ ٢٧
WanaAAmatin kanoo feeha fakiheen
Qaraiand the affluence wherein they rejoiced!
Saheeh InternationalAnd comfort wherein they were amused.
-
44:28
كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ ٢٨
Kathalika waawrathnahaqawman akhareen
QaraiSo it was; and We bequeathed them to another people.
Saheeh InternationalThus. And We caused to inherit it another people.
-
44:29
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ ٢٩
Fama bakat AAalayhimu assamaowal-ardu wama kanoo munthareen
QaraiSo neither the sky wept for them, nor the earth; nor were they granted any respite.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.
-
44:30
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ ٣٠
Walaqad najjayna banee isra-eelamina alAAathabi almuheen
QaraiCertainly We delivered the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment
Saheeh InternationalAnd We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment -
-
44:31
مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ ٣١
Min firAAawna innahu kana AAaliyanmina almusrifeen
Qaraiof Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a tyrant among the transgressors.
Saheeh InternationalFrom Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors.
-
44:32
وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٣٢
Walaqadi ikhtarnahum AAalaAAilmin AAala alAAalameen
QaraiCertainly We chose them knowingly above all the nations,
Saheeh InternationalAnd We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds.
-
44:33
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلَْٔايَٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَٰٓؤٌا۟ مُّبِينٌ ٣٣
Waataynahum mina al-ayatima feehi balaon mubeen
Qaraiand We gave them some signs in which there was a manifest test.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial.
-
44:34
إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ ٣٤
Inna haola-i layaqooloon
QaraiThese ones say,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, these [disbelievers] are saying,
-
44:35
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ ٣٥
In hiya illa mawtatuna al-oolawama nahnu bimunshareen
Qarai‘It will be only our first death, and we shall not be resurrected.
Saheeh International"There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected.
-
44:36
فَأْتُوا۟ بَِٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ ٣٦
Fa/too bi-aba-ina inkuntum sadiqeen
QaraiBring our fathers back [to life], if you are truthful.’
Saheeh InternationalThen bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful."
-
44:37
أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ ٣٧
Ahum khayrun am qawmu tubbaAAin wallatheenamin qablihim ahlaknahum innahum kanoo mujrimeen
QaraiAre they better, or the people of Tubba‘, and those who were before them? We destroyed them; indeed, they were guilty.
Saheeh InternationalAre they better or the people of Tubbaʿ and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals.
-
44:38
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ ٣٨
Wama khalaqna assamawatiwal-arda wama baynahuma laAAibeen
QaraiWe did not create the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them for play.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play.
-
44:39
مَا خَلَقْنَٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٣٩
Ma khalaqnahuma illabilhaqqi walakinna aktharahum layaAAlamoon
QaraiWe did not create them except with consummate wisdom; but most of them do not know.
Saheeh InternationalWe did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know.
-
44:40
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٤٠
Inna yawma alfasli meeqatuhumajmaAAeen
QaraiIndeed the Day of Judgement is the tryst for them all,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all -
-
44:41
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَئًْا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ ٤١
Yawma la yughnee mawlan AAan mawlanshay-an wala hum yunsaroon
Qaraithe day when a friend will not avail a friend in any way, nor will they be helped,
Saheeh InternationalThe Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped -
-
44:42
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٤٢
Illa man rahima Allahuinnahu huwa alAAazeezu arraheem
Qaraiexcept for him on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed He is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.
Saheeh InternationalExcept those [believers] on whom Allāh has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
-
44:43
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ٤٣
Inna shajarata azzaqqoom
QaraiIndeed the tree of Zaqqum
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the tree of zaqqūm
-
44:44
طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ ٤٤
TaAAamu al-atheem
Qaraiwill be the food of the sinful.
Saheeh InternationalIs food for the sinful.
-
44:45
كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ ٤٥
Kalmuhli yaghlee fee albutoon
QaraiLike molten copper it will boil in their bellies,
Saheeh InternationalLike murky oil, it boils within bellies
-
44:46
كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ٤٦
Kaghalyi alhameem
Qaraiseething like boiling water.
Saheeh InternationalLike the boiling of scalding water.
-
44:47
خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٤٧
Khuthoohu faAAtiloohu ilasawa-i aljaheem
Qarai[The keepers of hell will be told,] ‘Seize him and drag him to the middle of hell,
Saheeh International[It will be commanded], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire,
-
44:48
ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ٤٨
Thumma subboo fawqa ra/sihi min AAathabialhameem
Qaraithen pour over his head boiling water as punishment,
Saheeh InternationalThen pour over his head from the torment of scalding water."
-
44:49
ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ ٤٩
Thuq innaka anta alAAazeezu alkareem
Qarai[and tell them,] “Taste this! Indeed you are the [self-styled] mighty and noble!
Saheeh International[It will be said], "Taste! Indeed, you are the honored, the noble!
-
44:50
إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ ٥٠
Inna hatha ma kuntum bihitamtaroon
QaraiThis is what you used to doubt!’
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, this is what you used to dispute."
-
44:51
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ ٥١
Inna almuttaqeena fee maqamin ameen
QaraiIndeed the Godwary will be in a safe place,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the righteous will be in a secure place:
-
44:52
فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ٥٢
Fee jannatin waAAuyoon
Qaraiamid gardens and springs,
Saheeh InternationalWithin gardens and springs,
-
44:53
يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ ٥٣
Yalbasoona min sundusin wa-istabraqin mutaqabileen
Qaraidressed in fine silk and brocade, sitting face to face.
Saheeh InternationalWearing [garments of] fine silk and brocade, facing each other.
-
44:54
كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ ٥٤
Kathalika wazawwajnahum bihoorinAAeen
QaraiSo shall it be, and We shall wed them to black-eyed houris.
Saheeh InternationalThus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
-
44:55
يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ ٥٥
YadAAoona feeha bikulli fakihatinamineen
QaraiSecure [from any kind of harm,] there they will call for every kind of fruit [they wish].
Saheeh InternationalThey will call therein for every [kind of] fruit - safe and secure.
-
44:56
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٥٦
La yathooqoona feehaalmawta illa almawtata al-oola wawaqahum AAathabaaljaheem
QaraiOther than the first death, they will not taste death therein, and He will save them from the punishment of hell
Saheeh InternationalThey will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have protected them from the punishment of Hellfire
-
44:57
فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ٥٧
Fadlan min rabbika thalikahuwa alfawzu alAAatheem
Qarai—a grace from your Lord. That is the great success.
Saheeh InternationalAs bounty from your Lord. That is what is the great attainment.
-
44:58
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ ٥٨
Fa-innama yassarnahu bilisanikalaAAallahum yatathakkaroon
QaraiIndeed We have made it simple in your language, so that they may take admonition.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, We have eased it [i.e., the Qur’ān] in your tongue that they might be reminded.
-
44:59
فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ ٥٩
Fartaqib innahum murtaqiboon
QaraiSo wait! They [too] are waiting.
Saheeh InternationalSo watch, [O Muḥammad]; indeed, they are watching [for your end].
