بِسْمِ
-
79:1
وَ
ٱ ل نّ َٰ زِعَٰ تِ غَرْقًۭا ١WannaziAAati gharqa
By those [angels] who wrest [the soul] violently,Ali Quli Qarai
By those [angels] who extract with violenceSaheeh International
-
79:2
وَ
ٱ ل نّ َٰ شِطَٰ تِ نَشْطًۭا ٢Wannashitati nashta
by those who draw [it] out gently,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] those who remove with easeSaheeh International
-
79:3
وَ
ٱ ل سَّٰ بِحَٰ تِ سَبْ حًۭا ٣Wassabihati sabha
by those who swim smoothly,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] those who glide [as if] swimmingSaheeh International
-
79:4
فَ
ٱ ل سَّٰ بِقَٰ تِ سَبْ قًۭا ٤Fassabiqati sabqa
by those who, racing, take the lead,Ali Quli Qarai
And those who race each other in a raceSaheeh International
-
79:5
فَ
ٱ لْمُدَبِّرَٰ تِ أَمْرًۭا ٥Falmudabbirati amra
by those who direct the affairs [of creatures]:Ali Quli Qarai
And those who arrange [each] matter,Saheeh International
-
79:6
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ
ٱ ل رَّاجِفَةُ ٦Yawma tarjufu arrajifa
the day when the Quaker quakesAli Quli Qarai
On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation],Saheeh International
-
79:7
تَتْبَعُهَا
ٱ ل رَّادِفَةُ ٧TatbaAAuha arradifa
and is followed by the Successor,Ali Quli Qarai
There will follow it the subsequent [one].Saheeh International
-
79:8
قُلُو
بٌ ۭي َوْمَئِذٍ ۢو َاجِفَةٌ ٨Quloobun yawma-ithin wajifa
hearts will be trembling on that day,Ali Quli Qarai
Hearts, that Day, will tremble,Saheeh International
-
79:9
أَ
بْ صَٰ رُهَا خَٰ شِعَةٌۭ ٩Absaruha khashiAAa
bearing a humbled look.Ali Quli Qarai
Their eyes humbled.Saheeh International
-
79:10
يَقُولُونَ أَءِ
نّ َا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِىٱ لْحَافِرَةِ ١٠Yaqooloona a-inna lamardoodoona feealhafira
They will say, ‘Are we being returned to our earlier state?Ali Quli Qarai
They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?Saheeh International
-
79:11
أَءِذَا كُ
نّ َا عِظَٰ مً ۭا ن َّخِرَةًۭ ١١A-itha kunna AAithamannakhira
What, even after we have been decayed bones?!’Ali Quli Qarai
Even if we should be decayed bones?"Saheeh International
-
79:12
قَالُو
ا۟ تِلْكَ إِذً ۭا ك َرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌۭ ١٢Qaloo tilka ithan karratun khasira
They will say, ‘This is, then, a ruinous return!’Ali Quli Qarai
They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."Saheeh International
-
79:13
فَإِ
نّ َمَا هِىَ زَجْ رَةٌ ۭو َٰ حِدَةٌۭ ١٣Fa-innama hiya zajratun wahida
Yet it will be only a single shout,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, it will be but one shout,Saheeh International
-
79:14
فَإِذَا ه
ُم ب ِٱ ل سَّاهِرَةِ ١٤Fa-itha hum bissahira
and behold, they will be awake.Ali Quli Qarai
And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.Saheeh International
-
79:15
هَلْ أَتَى
ٰ كَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ ١٥Hal ataka hadeethu moosa
Did you receive the story of Moses,Ali Quli Qarai
Has there reached you the story of Moses? -Saheeh International
-
79:16
إِذْ نَادَ
ىٰ هُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱ لْوَادِٱ لْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى ١٦Ith nadahu rabbuhu bilwadialmuqaddasi tuwa
when his Lord called out to him in the holy valley of Tuwa?Ali Quli Qarai
When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwā,Saheeh International
-
79:17
ٱذْهَ
بْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنّ َهُۥ طَغَىٰ ١٧Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu tagha
[And said,] ‘Go to Pharaoh, for indeed he has rebelled,Ali Quli Qarai
"Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.Saheeh International
-
79:18
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَ
ىٰٓ أَن ت َزَكَّىٰ ١٨Faqul hal laka ila an tazakka
and say, ‘‘Would you purify yourself?Ali Quli Qarai
And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourselfSaheeh International
-
79:19
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ ١٩
Waahdiyaka ila rabbika fatakhsha
I will guide you to your Lord, that you may fear [Him]?’’ ’Ali Quli Qarai
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'"Saheeh International
-
79:20
فَأَرَ
ىٰ هُٱ لَْٔايَةَٱ لْكُبْ رَىٰ ٢٠Faarahu al-ayata alkubra
Then he showed him the greatest sign.Ali Quli Qarai
And he showed him the greatest sign,Saheeh International
-
79:21
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ ٢١
Fakaththaba waAAasa
But he denied, and disobeyed.Ali Quli Qarai
But he [i.e., Pharaoh] denied and disobeyed.Saheeh International
-
79:22
ثُ
مّ َ أَدْ بَرَ يَسْعَىٰ ٢٢Thumma adbara yasAAa
Then he turned back, walking swiftly,Ali Quli Qarai
Then he turned his back, striving [i.e., plotting].Saheeh International
-
79:23
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ ٢٣
Fahashara fanada
and gathered [the people] and proclaimed,Ali Quli Qarai
And he gathered [his people] and called outSaheeh International
-
79:24
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ
ٱ لْأَعْلَىٰ ٢٤Faqala ana rabbukumu al-aAAla
saying, ‘I am your exalted lord!’Ali Quli Qarai
And said, "I am your most exalted lord."Saheeh International
-
79:25
فَأَخَذَهُ
ٱ للَّهُ نَكَالَٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ وَٱ لْأُولَىٰٓ ٢٥Faakhathahu Allahu nakalaal-akhirati wal-oola
So Allah seized him with the punishment of this life and the Hereafter.Ali Quli Qarai
So Allāh seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]..Saheeh International
-
79:26
إِ
نّ َ فِى ذَٰ لِكَ لَعِبْ رَةً ۭل ِّمَن ي َخْشَىٰٓ ٢٦Inna fee thalika laAAibratan limanyakhsha
There is indeed a moral in that for someone who fears!Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed in that is a lesson [i.e., warning] for whoever would fear [Allāh].Saheeh International
-
79:27
ءَأَ
نت ُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءُ ۚ بَنَىٰ هَا ٢٧Aantum ashaddu khalqan ami assamaobanaha
Is your creation more prodigious or that of the heaven He has built?Ali Quli Qarai
Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? He [i.e., Allāh] constructed it.Saheeh International
-
79:28
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّ
ىٰ هَا ٢٨RafaAAa samkaha fasawwaha
He raised its vault and fashioned it,Ali Quli Qarai
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.Saheeh International
-
79:29
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَى
ٰ هَا ٢٩Waaghtasha laylaha waakhraja duhaha
and darkened its night, and brought forth its forenoon.Ali Quli Qarai
And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness.Saheeh International
-
79:30
وَ
ٱ لْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰ لِكَ دَحَىٰ هَآ ٣٠Wal-arda baAAda thalikadahaha
Thereafter He spread out the earth,Ali Quli Qarai
And after that He spread the earth.Saheeh International
-
79:31
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا م
َا ٓءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰ هَا ٣١Akhraja minha maahawamarAAaha
brought forth from it its water and pastures,Ali Quli Qarai
He extracted from it its water and its pasture,Saheeh International
-
79:32
وَ
ٱ لْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰ هَا ٣٢Waljibala arsaha
setting firm the mountains,Ali Quli Qarai
And the mountains He set firmlySaheeh International
-
79:33
مَتَ
ٰ عً ۭا ل َّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰ مِكُمْ ٣٣MataAAan lakum wali-anAAamikum
as a [place of] sustenance for you and your livestock.Ali Quli Qarai
As enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.Saheeh International
-
79:34
فَإِذَا ج
َا ٓءَتِٱ ل طَّا ٓمّ َةُٱ لْكُبْ رَىٰ ٣٤Fa-itha jaati attammatualkubra
When the Greatest Catastrophe befallsAli Quli Qarai
But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -Saheeh International
-
79:35
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ
ٱ لْإِنس َٰ نُ مَا سَعَىٰ ٣٥Yawma yatathakkaru al-insanu masaAAa
—the day when man will remember his endeavoursAli Quli Qarai
The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,Saheeh International
-
79:36
وَبُرِّزَتِ
ٱ لْجَحِيمُ لِمَن ي َرَىٰ ٣٦Waburrizati aljaheemu liman yara
and hell is brought into view for those who can see—Ali Quli Qarai
And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see -Saheeh International
-
79:37
فَأَ
مّ َا مَن ط َغَىٰ ٣٧Faamma man tagha
as for him who has been rebelliousAli Quli Qarai
So as for he who transgressedSaheeh International
-
79:38
وَءَاثَرَ
ٱ لْحَيَو ٰ ةَٱ ل دُّنْيَا ٣٨Waathara alhayata addunya
and preferred the life of this world,Ali Quli Qarai
And preferred the life of the world,Saheeh International
-
79:39
فَإِ
نّ َٱ لْجَحِيمَ هِىَٱ لْمَأْوَىٰ ٣٩Fa-inna aljaheema hiya alma/wa
his refuge will indeed be hell.Ali Quli Qarai
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.Saheeh International
-
79:40
وَأَ
مّ َا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَىٱ ل نّ َفْسَ عَنِٱ لْهَوَىٰ ٤٠Waama man khafa maqamarabbihi wanaha annafsa AAani alhawa
But as for him who is awed to stand before his Lord and restrains his soul from [following] desires,Ali Quli Qarai
But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,Saheeh International
-
79:41
فَإِ
نّ َٱ لْجَنّ َةَ هِىَٱ لْمَأْوَىٰ ٤١Fa-inna aljannata hiya alma/wa
his refuge will indeed be paradise.Ali Quli Qarai
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.Saheeh International
-
79:42
يَسَْٔلُونَكَ عَنِ
ٱ ل سَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰ هَا ٤٢Yas-aloonaka AAani assaAAatiayyana mursaha
They ask you concerning the Hour, “When will it set in,Ali Quli Qarai
They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?Saheeh International
-
79:43
فِيمَ أَ
نت َ مِن ذ ِكْرَىٰ هَآ ٤٣Feema anta min thikraha
considering your frequent mention of it?”Ali Quli Qarai
In what [position] are you that you should mention it?Saheeh International
-
79:44
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُ
نت َهَىٰ هَآ ٤٤Ila rabbika muntahaha
Its outcome is with your Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
To your Lord is its finality.Saheeh International
-
79:45
إِ
نّ َمَآ أَنت َ مُنذ ِرُ مَن ي َخْشَىٰ هَا ٤٥Innama anta munthiru manyakhshaha
You are only a warner for those who are afraid it.Ali Quli Qarai
You are only a warner for those who fear it.Saheeh International
-
79:46
كَأَ
نّ َهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓ ا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰ هَا ٤٦Kaannahum yawma yarawnaha lamyalbathoo illa AAashiyyatan aw duhaha
The day they see it, it shall be as if they had not stayed [in the world] except for an evening or forenoon.Ali Quli Qarai
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.Saheeh International
