النازعات

An-Nazi'at · Those who drag forth

46 verses · Revealed in Makkah

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 79:1

   وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِ غَرْقًا ۝١

   QaraiBy those [angels] who wrest [the soul] violently,

2. 79:2

   وَٱلنَّٰشِطَٰتِ نَشْطًا ۝٢

   Qaraiby those who draw [it] out gently,

3. 79:3

   وَٱلسَّٰبِحَٰتِ سَبْحًا ۝٣

   Qaraiby those who swim smoothly,

4. 79:4

   فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِ سَبْقًا ۝٤

   Qaraiby those who, racing, take the lead,

5. 79:5

   فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا ۝٥

   Qaraiby those who direct the affairs [of creatures]:

6. 79:6

   يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ ۝٦

   Qaraithe day when the Quaker quakes

7. 79:7

   تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ ۝٧

   Qaraiand is followed by the Successor,

8. 79:8

   قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ ۝٨

   Qaraihearts will be trembling on that day,

9. 79:9

   أَبْصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةٌ ۝٩

   Qaraibearing a humbled look.

10. 79:10

    يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ ۝١٠

    QaraiThey will say, ‘Are we being returned to our earlier state?

11. 79:11

    أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمًا نَّخِرَةً ۝١١

    QaraiWhat, even after we have been decayed bones?!’

12. 79:12

    قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ ۝١٢

    QaraiThey will say, ‘This is, then, a ruinous return!’

13. 79:13

    فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ ۝١٣

    QaraiYet it will be only a single shout,

14. 79:14

    فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ ۝١٤

    Qaraiand behold, they will be awake.

15. 79:15

    هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ ۝١٥

    QaraiDid you receive the story of Moses,

16. 79:16

    إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى ۝١٦

    Qaraiwhen his Lord called out to him in the holy valley of Tuwa?

17. 79:17

    ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ ۝١٧

    Qarai[And said,] ‘Go to Pharaoh, for indeed he has rebelled,

18. 79:18

    فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ ۝١٨

    Qaraiand say, ‘‘Would you purify yourself?

19. 79:19

    وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ ۝١٩

    QaraiI will guide you to your Lord, that you may fear [Him]?’’ ’

20. 79:20

    فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلَْٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ۝٢٠

    QaraiThen he showed him the greatest sign.

21. 79:21

    فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ ۝٢١

    QaraiBut he denied, and disobeyed.

22. 79:22

    ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ ۝٢٢

    QaraiThen he turned back, walking swiftly,

23. 79:23

    فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ ۝٢٣

    Qaraiand gathered [the people] and proclaimed,

24. 79:24

    فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ۝٢٤

    Qaraisaying, ‘I am your exalted lord!’

25. 79:25

    فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلَْٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ ۝٢٥

    QaraiSo Allah seized him with the punishment of this life and the Hereafter.

26. 79:26

    إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ ۝٢٦

    QaraiThere is indeed a moral in that for someone who fears!

27. 79:27

    ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا ۝٢٧

    QaraiIs your creation more prodigious or that of the heaven He has built?

28. 79:28

    رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا ۝٢٨

    QaraiHe raised its vault and fashioned it,

29. 79:29

    وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا ۝٢٩

    Qaraiand darkened its night, and brought forth its forenoon.

30. 79:30

    وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ ۝٣٠

    QaraiThereafter He spread out the earth,

31. 79:31

    أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا ۝٣١

    Qaraibrought forth from it its water and pastures,

32. 79:32

    وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا ۝٣٢

    Qaraisetting firm the mountains,

33. 79:33

    مَتَٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ ۝٣٣

    Qaraias a [place of] sustenance for you and your livestock.

34. 79:34

    فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ۝٣٤

    QaraiWhen the Greatest Catastrophe befalls

35. 79:35

    يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ ۝٣٥

    Qarai—the day when man will remember his endeavours

36. 79:36

    وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ ۝٣٦

    Qaraiand hell is brought into view for those who can see—

37. 79:37

    فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ ۝٣٧

    Qaraias for him who has been rebellious

38. 79:38

    وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۝٣٨

    Qaraiand preferred the life of this world,

39. 79:39

    فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ ۝٣٩

    Qaraihis refuge will indeed be hell.

40. 79:40

    وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ ۝٤٠

    QaraiBut as for him who is awed to stand before his Lord and restrains his soul from [following] desires,

41. 79:41

    فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ ۝٤١

    Qaraihis refuge will indeed be paradise.

42. 79:42

    يَسَْٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا ۝٤٢

    QaraiThey ask you concerning the Hour, “When will it set in,

43. 79:43

    فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ ۝٤٣

    Qaraiconsidering your frequent mention of it?”

44. 79:44

    إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ ۝٤٤

    QaraiIts outcome is with your Lord.

45. 79:45

    إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا ۝٤٥

    QaraiYou are only a warner for those who are afraid it.

46. 79:46

    كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا ۝٤٦

    QaraiThe day they see it, it shall be as if they had not stayed [in the world] except for an evening or forenoon.
