بِسْمِ
-
52:1
وَ
ٱ ل طُ ّو رِ ١Wattoor
By the Mount [Sinai],Ali Quli Qarai
By the mountSaheeh International
-
52:2
وَكِتَ
ٰ بٍ ۢم َّسْطُو رٍۢ ٢Wakitabin mastoor
by the Book inscribedAli Quli Qarai
And [by] a Book inscribedSaheeh International
-
52:3
فِى رَ
قٍّ ۢم َّنش ُو رٍۢ ٣Fee raqqin manshoor
on an unrolled parchment;Ali Quli Qarai
In parchment spread openSaheeh International
-
52:4
وَ
ٱ لْبَيْتِٱ لْمَعْمُو رِ ٤Walbayti almaAAmoor
by the House greatly frequented;Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the frequented HouseSaheeh International
-
52:5
وَ
ٱ ل سَّقْ فِٱ لْمَرْفُو عِ ٥Wassaqfi almarfooAA
by the vault raised high,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the ceiling [i.e., heaven] raised highSaheeh International
-
52:6
وَ
ٱ لْبَحْرِٱ لْمَسْجُو رِ ٦Walbahri almasjoor
by the surging sea:Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the sea set on fire,Saheeh International
-
52:7
إِ
نّ َ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰ قِعٌۭ ٧Inna AAathaba rabbika lawaqiAA
indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely befall.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.Saheeh International
-
52:8
مَّا لَهُ
ۥ مِن د َافِعٍۢ ٨Ma lahu min dafiAA
There is none who can avert it.Ali Quli Qarai
Of it there is no preventer.Saheeh International
-
52:9
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ
ٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءُ مَوْرًۭا ٩Yawma tamooru assamao mawra
On the day when the sky whirls violently,Ali Quli Qarai
On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motionSaheeh International
-
52:10
وَتَسِيرُ
ٱ لْجِبَالُ سَيْرًۭا ١٠Wataseeru aljibalu sayra
and the mountains move with an awful motion:Ali Quli Qarai
And the mountains will pass on, departing -Saheeh International
-
52:11
فَوَيْ
لٌ ۭي َوْمَئِذٍ ۢل ِّلْمُكَذِّبِي نَ ١١Fawaylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
woe to the deniers on that dayAli Quli Qarai
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,Saheeh International
-
52:12
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْ
ضٍ ۢي َلْعَبُو نَ ١٢Allatheena hum fee khawdinyalAAaboon
—those who play around in vain talk,Ali Quli Qarai
Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.Saheeh International
-
52:13
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَ
نّ َمَ دَعًّا ١٣Yawma yudaAAAAoona ila narijahannama daAAAAa
the day when they will be shoved forcibly toward the fire of hell, [and told:]Ali Quli Qarai
The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],Saheeh International
-
52:14
هَ
ٰ ذِهِٱ ل نّ َارُٱ لَّتِى كُنت ُم ب ِهَا تُكَذِّبُو نَ ١٤Hathihi annaru allateekuntum biha tukaththiboon
‘This is the Fire which you used to deny!Ali Quli Qarai
"This is the Fire which you used to deny.Saheeh International
-
52:15
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَ
ٰ ذَآ أَمْ أَنت ُمْ لَا تُبْ صِرُو نَ ١٥Afasihrun hatha am antum latubsiroon
Is this, then, [also] magic, or is it you who do not perceive?Ali Quli Qarai
Then is this magic, or do you not see?Saheeh International
-
52:16
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَ
ٱ صْبِرُوٓ ا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَا ٓءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنّ َمَا تُجْ زَوْنَ مَا كُنت ُمْ تَعْمَلُو نَ ١٦Islawha fasbirooaw la tasbiroo sawaon AAalaykum innamatujzawna ma kuntum taAAmaloon
Enter it, and it will be the same for you whether you are patient or impatient. You are only being requited for what you used to do.’Ali Quli Qarai
[Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do."Saheeh International

52:17
إِ
نّ َٱ لْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنّ َٰ تٍ ۢو َنَعِي مٍۢ ١٧Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatinwanaAAeem
Indeed the Godwary will be amid gardens and bliss,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,Saheeh International
-
52:18
فَ
ٰ كِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰ هُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰ هُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَٱ لْجَحِي مِ ١٨Fakiheena bima atahumrabbuhum wawaqahum rabbuhum AAathaba aljaheem
rejoicing because of what their Lord has given them, and that their Lord has saved them from the punishment of hell.Ali Quli Qarai
Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.Saheeh International

52:19
كُلُو
ا۟ وَٱ شْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓ ًٔۢا ب ِمَا كُنت ُمْ تَعْمَلُو نَ ١٩Kuloo washraboo hanee-an bimakuntum taAAmaloon
[They will be told:] ‘Enjoy your food and drink, [as a reward] for what you used to do.’Ali Quli Qarai
[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."Saheeh International

52:20
مُتَّكِِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُ
رٍ ۢم َّصْفُوفَةٍ ۢۖ و َزَوَّجْ نَٰ هُم ب ِحُورٍ عِي نٍۢ ٢٠Muttaki-eena AAala sururin masfoofatinwazawwajnahum bihoorin AAeen
They will be reclining on arrayed couches, and We will wed them to big-eyed houris.Ali Quli Qarai
They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.Saheeh International

52:21
وَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱ تَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم ب ِإِيمَٰ نٍ أَلْحَقْ نَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَٰ هُم م ِّنْ عَمَلِهِم م ِّن شَىْءٍ ۢۚ ك ُلُّٱ مْرِئٍۭ ب ِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِي نٌۭ ٢١Wallatheena amanoo wattabaAAat-humthurriyyatuhum bi-eemanin alhaqnabihim thurriyyatahum wama alatnahum minAAamalihim min shay-in kullu imri-in bima kasaba raheen
The faithful and their descendants who followed them in faith—We will make their descendants join them, and We will not stint anything from [the reward of] their deeds. Every person is hostage to what he has earned.Ali Quli Qarai
And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.Saheeh International

52:22
وَأَمْدَ
دْ نَٰ هُم ب ِفَٰ كِهَةٍ ۢو َلَحْمٍ ۢم ِّمّ َا يَشْتَهُو نَ ٢٢Waamdadnahum bifakihatin walahminmimma yashtahoon
We will provide them with fruits and meat, such as they desire.Ali Quli Qarai
And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.Saheeh International
-
52:23
يَتَنَ
ٰ زَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسً ۭا ل َّا لَغْوٌ ۭف ِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِي مٌۭ ٢٣YatanazaAAoona feeha ka/san lalaghwun feeha wala ta/theem
There they will pass from hand to hand a cup wherein there will be neither any vain talk nor sinful speech.Ali Quli Qarai
They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.Saheeh International
-
52:24
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَا
نٌ ۭل َّهُمْ كَأَنّ َهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ ۭم َّكْنُو نٌۭ ٢٤Wayatoofu AAalayhim ghilmanunlahum kaannahum lu/luon maknoon
They will be waited upon by their youths, as if they were guarded pearls.Ali Quli Qarai
There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected.Saheeh International
-
52:25
وَأَ
قْ بَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۢي َتَسَا ٓءَلُو نَ ٢٥Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloon
They will turn to one another, questioning each other.Ali Quli Qarai
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.Saheeh International
-
52:26
قَال
ُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َا كُنّ َا قَبْ لُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِي نَ ٢٦Qaloo inna kunna qablufee ahlina mushfiqeen
They will say, ‘Indeed, aforetime, we used to be apprehensive about our families.Ali Quli Qarai
They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allāh].Saheeh International
-
52:27
فَمَ
نّ َٱ للَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰ نَا عَذَابَٱ ل سَّمُو مِ ٢٧Famanna Allahu AAalayna wawaqanaAAathaba assamoom
But Allah showed us favour and He saved us from the punishment of the [infernal] miasma.Ali Quli Qarai
So Allāh conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.Saheeh International
-
52:28
إِ
نّ َا كُنّ َا مِن ق َبْ لُ نَدْ عُوهُ ۖ إِنّ َهُۥ هُوَٱ لْبَرُّٱ ل رَّحِي مُ ٢٨Inna kunna min qablu nadAAoohuinnahu huwa albarru arraheem
We used to supplicate Him aforetime. Indeed He is the All-benign, the All-merciful.’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful."Saheeh International

52:29
فَذَكِّرْ فَم
َآ أَنت َ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ ۢو َلَا مَجْ نُو نٍ ٢٩Fathakkir fama anta biniAAmatirabbika bikahin wala majnoon
So admonish. By your Lord’s blessing, you are not a soothsayer, nor mad.Ali Quli Qarai
So remind, [O Muḥammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.Saheeh International
-
52:30
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِ
رٌ ۭن َّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَٱ لْمَنُو نِ ٣٠Am yaqooloona shaAAirun natarabbasubihi rayba almanoon
Do they say, ‘[He is] a poet, for whom we await a fatal accident’?Ali Quli Qarai
Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time"?Saheeh International
-
52:31
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُو
ا۟ فَإِنّ ِى مَعَكُم م ِّنَٱ لْمُتَرَبِّصِي نَ ٣١Qul tarabbasoo fa-innee maAAakum minaalmutarabbiseen
Say, ‘Wait! I too am waiting along with you.’Ali Quli Qarai
Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters."Saheeh International
-
52:32
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَ
ٰ مُهُم ب ِهَٰ ذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ ۭط َاغُو نَ ٣٢Am ta/muruhum ahlamuhum bihathaam hum qawmun taghoon
Is it their intellect which prompts them to [say] this, or are they a rebellious lot?Ali Quli Qarai
Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people?Saheeh International
-
52:33
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُ
ۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُو نَ ٣٣Am yaqooloona taqawwalahu bal layu/minoon
Do they say, ‘He has improvised it [himself]?’ Rather, they have no faith!Ali Quli Qarai
Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe.Saheeh International
-
52:34
فَلْيَأْتُو
ا۟ بِحَدِيثٍ ۢم ِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن ك َانُوا۟ صَٰ دِقِي نَ ٣٤Falya/too bihadeethin mithlihi in kanoosadiqeena
Let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful.Ali Quli Qarai
Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.Saheeh International
-
52:35
أَمْ خُلِقُو
ا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُٱ لْخَٰ لِقُو نَ ٣٥Am khuliqoo min ghayri shay-in am humu alkhaliqoon
Were they created from nothing? Or are they [their own] creators?Ali Quli Qarai
Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?Saheeh International
-
52:36
أَمْ خَلَقُو
ا۟ ٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُو نَ ٣٦Am khalaqoo assamawatiwal-arda bal la yooqinoon
Did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they have no certainty!Ali Quli Qarai
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.Saheeh International
-
52:37
أَمْ عِ
ند َهُمْ خَزَا ٓئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُٱ لْمُصَۣيْطِرُو نَ ٣٧Am AAindahum khaza-inu rabbika amhumu almusaytiroon
Do they possess the treasuries of your Lord? Or do they control [them]?Ali Quli Qarai
Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?Saheeh International
-
52:38
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّ
مٌ ۭي َسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم ب ِسُلْطَٰ نٍ ۢم ُّبِي نٍ ٣٨Am lahum sullamun yastamiAAoona feehifalya/ti mustamiAAuhum bisultanin mubeen
Do they have a ladder [leading up to heaven] whereby they eavesdrop? If so, let their eavesdropper produce a manifest authority.Ali Quli Qarai
Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority [i.e., proof].Saheeh International
-
52:39
أَمْ لَهُ
ٱ لْبَنَٰ تُ وَلَكُمُٱ لْبَنُو نَ ٣٩Am lahu albanatu walakumu albanoon
Does He have daughters while you have sons?Ali Quli Qarai
Or has He daughters while you have sons?Saheeh International
-
52:40
أَمْ تَسَْٔلُهُمْ أَ
جْ رً ۭا ف َهُم م ِّن م َّغْرَمٍ ۢم ُّثْقَلُو نَ ٤٠Am tas-aluhum ajran fahum min maghraminmuthqaloon
Do you ask them for a reward, so that they are [wary of] being weighed down with debt?Ali Quli Qarai
Or do you, [O Muḥammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?Saheeh International
-
52:41
أَمْ عِ
ند َهُمُٱ لْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُو نَ ٤١Am AAindahumu alghaybu fahum yaktuboon
Do they have [access to] the Unseen, which they write down?Ali Quli Qarai
Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?Saheeh International
-
52:42
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْ
دً ۭا ۖ ف َٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُٱ لْمَكِيدُو نَ ٤٢Am yureedoona kaydan fallatheenakafaroo humu almakeedoon
Do they seek to outmaneuver [Allah]? But it is the faithless who are the outmaneuvered ones!Ali Quli Qarai
Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.Saheeh International
-
52:43
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَ
ٰ هٌ غَيْرُٱ للَّهِ ۚ سُبْ حَٰ نَٱ للَّهِ عَمّ َا يُشْرِكُو نَ ٤٣Am lahum ilahun ghayru Allahisubhana Allahi AAamma yushrikoon
Do they have any god other than Allah? Clear is Allah of any partners that they may ascribe [to Him]!Ali Quli Qarai
Or have they a deity other than Allāh? Exalted is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.Saheeh International
-
52:44
وَإ
ِن ي َرَوْا۟ كِسْفً ۭا م ِّنَٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ سَاقِطً ۭا ي َقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌ ۭم َّرْكُو مٌۭ ٤٤Wa-in yaraw kisfan mina assama-isaqitan yaqooloo sahabun markoom
Were they to see a fragment falling from the sky, they would say, ‘A cumulous cloud.’Ali Quli Qarai
And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up."Saheeh International
-
52:45
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَ
ٰ قُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُٱ لَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُو نَ ٤٥Fatharhum hatta yulaqooyawmahumu allathee feehi yusAAaqoon
So leave them until they encounter the day when they will be thunderstruck,Ali Quli Qarai
So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -Saheeh International
-
52:46
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْ
ًٔ ۭا و َلَا هُمْ يُنص َرُو نَ ٤٦Yawma la yughnee AAanhum kayduhumshay-an wala hum yunsaroon
the day when their guile will not avail them in any way, nor will they be helped.Ali Quli Qarai
The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.Saheeh International
-
52:47
وَإِ
نّ َ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابً ۭا د ُونَ ذَٰ لِكَ وَلَٰ كِنّ َ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُو نَ ٤٧Wa-inna lillatheena thalamooAAathaban doona thalika walakinna aktharahumla yaAAlamoon
Indeed there is a punishment besides that for those who do wrong, but most of them do not know.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.Saheeh International

52:48
وَ
ٱ صْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنّ َكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُو مُ ٤٨Wasbir lihukmi rabbikafa-innaka bi-aAAyunina wasabbih bihamdirabbika heena taqoom
So submit patiently to the judgement of your Lord, for indeed you fare before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise [at dawn],Ali Quli Qarai
And be patient, [O Muḥammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes [i.e., sight]. And exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord when you ariseSaheeh International
-
52:49
وَمِنَ
ٱ لَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْ بَٰ رَٱ ل نّ ُجُو مِ ٤٩Wamina allayli fasabbihhu wa-idbaraannujoom
and also glorify Him during the night and at the receding of the stars.Ali Quli Qarai
And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars.Saheeh International
