بِسْمِ
-
53:1
وَ
ٱ ل نّ َجْ مِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ ١Wannajmi itha hawa
By the star when it sets:Ali Quli Qarai
By the star when it descends,Saheeh International
-
53:2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ ٢
Ma dalla sahibukum wamaghawa
your companion has neither gone astray, nor amiss.Ali Quli Qarai
Your companion [i.e., Muḥammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,Saheeh International
-
53:3
وَمَا يَ
نط ِقُ عَنِٱ لْهَوَىٰٓ ٣Wama yantiqu AAani alhawa
Nor does he speak out of [his own] desire:Ali Quli Qarai
Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination.Saheeh International
-
53:4
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْ
ىٌ ۭي ُوحَىٰ ٤In huwa illa wahyun yooha
it is just a revelation that is revealed [to him],Ali Quli Qarai
It is not but a revelation revealed,Saheeh International
-
53:5
عَلَّمَهُ
ۥ شَدِيدُٱ لْقُوَىٰ ٥AAallamahu shadeedu alquwa
taught him by one of great powers,Ali Quli Qarai
Taught to him by one intense in strength [i.e., Gabriel] -Saheeh International
-
53:6
ذُو مِرَّ
ةٍ ۢف َٱ سْتَوَىٰ ٦Thoo mirratin fastawa
possessed of sound judgement. He settled,Ali Quli Qarai
One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true formSaheeh International
-
53:7
وَهُوَ بِ
ٱ لْأُفُقِٱ لْأَعْلَىٰ ٧Wahuwa bil-ofuqi al-aAAla
while he was on the highest horizon.Ali Quli Qarai
While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.Saheeh International
-
53:8
ثُ
مّ َ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ ٨Thumma dana fatadalla
Then he drew nearer and nearerAli Quli Qarai
Then he approached and descendedSaheeh International
-
53:9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَ
دْ نَىٰ ٩Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna
until he was within two bows’ length or even nearer,Ali Quli Qarai
And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.Saheeh International
-
53:10
فَأَوْحَ
ىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْ دِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ ١٠Faawha ila AAabdihi maawha
whereat He revealed to His servant whatever He revealed.Ali Quli Qarai
And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed [i.e., conveyed].Saheeh International
-
53:11
مَا كَذَبَ
ٱ لْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ ١١Ma kathaba alfu-adu maraa
The heart did not deny what it saw.Ali Quli Qarai
The heart did not lie [about] what it saw.Saheeh International
-
53:12
أَفَتُمَ
ٰ رُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ ١٢Afatumaroonahu AAala mayara
Will you then dispute with him about what he saw?!Ali Quli Qarai
So will you dispute with him over what he saw?Saheeh International
-
53:13
وَلَقَ
دْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ ١٣Walaqad raahu nazlatan okhra
Certainly he saw it yet another time,Ali Quli Qarai
And he certainly saw him in another descentSaheeh International
-
53:14
عِ
ند َ سِدْ رَةِٱ لْمُنت َهَىٰ ١٤AAinda sidrati almuntaha
by the Lote Tree of the Ultimate Boundary,Ali Quli Qarai
At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary -Saheeh International
-
53:15
عِ
ند َهَا جَنّ َةُٱ لْمَأْوَىٰٓ ١٥AAindaha jannatu alma/wa
near which is the Garden of the Abode,Ali Quli Qarai
Near it is the Garden of Refuge [i.e., Paradise] -Saheeh International
-
53:16
إِذْ يَغْشَى
ٱ ل سِّدْ رَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ ١٦Ith yaghsha assidratama yaghsha
when there covered the Lote Tree what covered it.Ali Quli Qarai
When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].Saheeh International
-
53:17
مَا زَاغَ
ٱ لْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ ١٧Ma zagha albasaru wamatagha
His gaze did not swerve, nor did it overstep the bounds.Ali Quli Qarai
The sight [of the Prophet (ﷺ)] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].Saheeh International
-
53:18
لَقَ
دْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَٰ تِ رَبِّهِٱ لْكُبْ رَىٰٓ ١٨Laqad raa min ayatirabbihi alkubra
Certainly he saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.Saheeh International
-
53:19
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ
ٱ ل لَّٰ تَ وَٱ لْعُزَّىٰ ١٩Afaraaytumu allata walAAuzza
Have you considered Lat and ‘Uzza?Ali Quli Qarai
So have you considered al-Lāt and al-ʿUzzā?Saheeh International
-
53:20
وَمَنَ
و ٰ ةَٱ ل ثَّالِثَةَٱ لْأُخْرَىٰٓ ٢٠Wamanata aththalithataal-okhra
and Manat, the third one?Ali Quli Qarai
And Manāt, the third - the other one?Saheeh International
-
53:21
أَلَكُمُ
ٱ ل ذَّكَرُ وَلَهُٱ لْأُنث َىٰ ٢١Alakumu aththakaru walahual-ontha
Are you to have males and He females?Ali Quli Qarai
Is the male for you and for Him the female?Saheeh International
-
53:22
تِلْكَ إِ
ذً ۭا ق ِسْمَةٌ ۭض ِيزَىٰٓ ٢٢Tilka ithan qismatun deeza
That, then, will be an unfair division!Ali Quli Qarai
That, then, is an unjust division.Saheeh International
-
53:23
إِنْ هِىَ إِلّ
َآ أَسْمَا ٓءٌ ۭس َمّ َيْتُمُوهَآ أَنت ُمْ وَءَابَا ٓؤُكُم م َّآ أَنز َلَٱ للَّهُ بِهَا مِن س ُلْطَٰ نٍ ۚ إِن ي َتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّاٱ ل ظَّنّ َ وَمَا تَهْوَىٱ لْأَنف ُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَا ٓءَهُم م ِّن ر َّبِّهِمُٱ لْهُدَىٰٓ ٢٣In hiya illa asmaonsammaytumooha antum waabaokum maanzala Allahu biha min sultanin inyattabiAAoona illa aththanna wamatahwa al-anfusu walaqad jaahum min rabbihimu alhuda
These are but names, which you have coined—you and your fathers—for which Allah has not sent down any authority. They follow nothing but conjectures and the desires of the [lower] soul, while there has already come to them the guidance from their Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allāh has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance.Saheeh International
-
53:24
أَمْ لِلْإِ
نس َٰ نِ مَا تَمَنّ َىٰ ٢٤Am lil-insani ma tamanna
Shall man have whatever he yearns for?Ali Quli Qarai
Or is there for man whatever he wishes?Saheeh International
-
53:25
فَلِلَّهِ
ٱ لَْٔاخِرَةُ وَٱ لْأُولَىٰ ٢٥Falillahi al-akhiratu wal-oola
Yet to Allah belong this world and the Hereafter.Ali Quli Qarai
Rather, to Allāh belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].Saheeh International
-
53:26
۞ وَك
َم م ِّن م َّلَكٍ ۢف ِىٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَٰ عَتُهُمْ شَئًْا إِلَّا مِنۢ ب َعْدِ أَن ي َأْذَنَٱ للَّهُ لِمَن ي َشَا ٓءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ ٢٦Wakam min malakin fee assamawatila tughnee shafaAAatuhum shay-an illa minbaAAdi an ya/thana Allahu liman yashao wayarda
How many an angel there is in the heavens whose intercession is of not any avail, except after Allah permits whomever He wishes and approves of!Ali Quli Qarai
And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allāh has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves.Saheeh International
-
53:27
إِ
نّ َٱ لَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱ لَْٔاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمّ ُونَٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَٱ لْأُنث َىٰ ٢٧Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabil-akhirati layusammoona almala-ikatatasmiyata al-ontha
Indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter give female names to the angels.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter name the angels female names,Saheeh International
-
53:28
وَمَا لَه
ُم ب ِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن ي َتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّاٱ ل ظَّنّ َ ۖ وَإِنّ َٱ ل ظَّنّ َ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَٱ لْحَقِّ شَئًْۭا ٢٨Wama lahum bihi min AAilmin inyattabiAAoona illa aththanna wa-innaaththanna la yughnee mina alhaqqishay-a
They do not have any knowledge of that. They follow nothing but conjectures, and conjecture is no substitute for the truth.Ali Quli Qarai
And they have thereof no knowledge. They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all.Saheeh International
-
53:29
فَأَعْرِضْ ع
َن م َّن ت َوَلَّىٰ عَن ذ ِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّاٱ لْحَيَو ٰ ةَٱ ل دُّنْيَا ٢٩FaaAArid AAan man tawalla AAanthikrina walam yurid illa alhayataaddunya
So avoid those who turn away from Our remembrance and desire nothing but the life of the world.Ali Quli Qarai
So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our message and desires not except the worldly life.Saheeh International
-
53:30
ذَ
ٰ لِكَ مَبْ لَغُهُم م ِّنَٱ لْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ض َلَّ عَن س َبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِٱ هْتَدَىٰ ٣٠Thalika mablaghuhum mina alAAilmiinna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihiwahuwa aAAlamu bimani ihtada
That is the ultimate reach of their knowledge. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are [rightly] guided.Ali Quli Qarai
That is their sum of knowledge. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided.Saheeh International
-
53:31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى
ٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَمَا فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ لِيَجْ زِىَٱ لَّذِينَ أَسَٰٓ ُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْ زِىَٱ لَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱ لْحُسْنَى ٣١Walillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi liyajziya allatheena asaoobima AAamiloo wayajziya allatheena ahsanoobilhusna
To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, that He may requite those who do evil for what they have done, and reward those who do good with the best [of rewards].Ali Quli Qarai
And to Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth - that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward] -Saheeh International
-
53:32
ٱلَّذِينَ يَ
جْ تَنِبُونَ كَبَٰٓ ئِرَٱ لْإِثْمِ وَٱ لْفَوَٰ حِشَ إِلَّاٱ ل لَّمَمَ ۚ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ وَٰ سِعُٱ لْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنش َأَكُم م ِّنَٱ لْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنت ُمْ أَجِنّ َةٌ ۭف ِى بُطُونِ أُمّ َهَٰ تِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓ ا۟ أَنف ُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِٱ تَّقَىٰٓ ٣٢Allatheena yajtaniboona kaba-iraal-ithmi walfawahisha illa allamama innarabbaka wasiAAu almaghfirati huwa aAAlamu bikum ithanshaakum mina al-ardi wa-ith antum ajinnatun feebutooni ommahatikum fala tuzakkoo anfusakumhuwa aAAlamu bimani ittaqa
Those who avoid major sins and indecencies, apart from [minor and occasional] lapses. Indeed your Lord is expansive in [His] forgiveness. He knows you best since [the time] He produced you from the earth and since you were foetuses in the bellies of your mothers. So do not flaunt your piety: He knows best those who are Godwary.Ali Quli Qarai
Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones. Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him.Saheeh International
-
53:33
أَفَرَءَيْتَ
ٱ لَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ ٣٣Afaraayta allathee tawalla
Did you see him who turned away,Ali Quli Qarai
Have you seen the one who turned awaySaheeh International
-
53:34
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيل
ً ۭاو َأَكْدَىٰٓ ٣٤WaaAAta qaleelan waakda
gave a little and held off?Ali Quli Qarai
And gave a little and [then] refrained?Saheeh International
-
53:35
أَعِ
ند َهُۥ عِلْمُٱ لْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ ٣٥aAAindahu AAilmu alghaybi fahuwa yara
Does he have the knowledge of the Unseen so that he sees?Ali Quli Qarai
Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees?Saheeh International
-
53:36
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ ٣٦
Am lam yunabba/ bima fee suhufimoosa
Has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Moses,Ali Quli Qarai
Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of MosesSaheeh International
-
53:37
وَإِ
بْ رَٰ هِيمَٱ لَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ ٣٧Wa-ibraheema allathee waffa
and of Abraham, who fulfilled [his summons]:Ali Quli Qarai
And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] -Saheeh International
-
53:38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَ
ةٌ ۭو ِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ٣٨Alla taziru waziratun wizraokhra
that no bearer shall bear another’s burden,Ali Quli Qarai
That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of anotherSaheeh International
-
53:39
وَأ
َن ل َّيْسَ لِلْإِنس َٰ نِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ ٣٩Waan laysa lil-insani illa masaAAa
that nothing belongs to man except what he strives for,Ali Quli Qarai
And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strivesSaheeh International
-
53:40
وَأَ
نّ َ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ ٤٠Waanna saAAyahu sawfa yura
and that he will soon be shown his endeavour,Ali Quli Qarai
And that his effort is going to be seen -Saheeh International
-
53:41
ثُ
مّ َ يُجْ زَىٰ هُٱ لْجَزَا ٓءَٱ لْأَوْفَىٰ ٤١Thumma yujzahu aljazaa al-awfa
then he will be rewarded for it with the fullest reward;Ali Quli Qarai
Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense -Saheeh International
-
53:42
وَأَ
نّ َ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَٱ لْمُنت َهَىٰ ٤٢Waanna ila rabbika almuntaha
that the terminus is toward your Lord,Ali Quli Qarai
And that to your Lord is the finalitySaheeh International
-
53:43
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْ كَىٰ ٤٣Waannahu huwa adhaka waabka
that it is He who makes [men] laugh, and weep,Ali Quli Qarai
And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weepSaheeh International
-
53:44
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا ٤٤Waannahu huwa amata waahya
that it is He who brings death and gives life,Ali Quli Qarai
And that it is He who causes death and gives lifeSaheeh International
-
53:45
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ خَلَقَٱ ل زَّوْجَيْنِٱ ل ذَّكَرَ وَٱ لْأُنث َىٰ ٤٥Waannahu khalaqa azzawjayni aththakarawal-ontha
that it is He who created the mates, the male and the female,Ali Quli Qarai
And that He creates the two mates - the male and female -Saheeh International
-
53:46
م
ِن ن ُّطْ فَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ ٤٦Min nutfatin itha tumna
from a drop of [seminal] fluid when emitted;Ali Quli Qarai
From a sperm-drop when it is emittedSaheeh International
-
53:47
وَأَ
نّ َ عَلَيْهِٱ ل نّ َشْأَةَٱ لْأُخْرَىٰ ٤٧Waanna AAalayhi annash-ata al-okhra
that with Him lies the second genesis,Ali Quli Qarai
And that [incumbent] upon Him is the other [i.e., next] creation.Saheeh International
-
53:48
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْ نَىٰ ٤٨Waannahu huwa aghna waaqna
that it is He who enriches and grants possessions,Ali Quli Qarai
And that it is He who enriches and sufficesSaheeh International
-
53:49
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّٱ ل شِّعْرَىٰ ٤٩Waannahu huwa rabbu ashshiAAra
that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius;Ali Quli Qarai
And that it is He who is the Lord of SiriusSaheeh International
-
53:50
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًاٱ لْأُولَىٰ ٥٠Waannahu ahlaka AAadan al-oola
that it is He who destroyed the former ‘Ad,Ali Quli Qarai
And that He destroyed the first [people of] ʿAadSaheeh International
-
53:51
وَثَمُودَ
ا۟ فَمَآ أَبْ قَىٰ ٥١Wathamooda fama abqa
and Thamud, sparing none [of them];Ali Quli Qarai
And Thamūd - and He did not spare [them] -Saheeh International
-
53:52
وَقَوْمَ نُو
حٍ ۢم ِّن ق َبْ لُ ۖ إِنّ َهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْ غَىٰ ٥٢Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoohum athlama waatgha
and the people of Noah before that; indeed they were more unjust and rebellious;Ali Quli Qarai
And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing.Saheeh International
-
53:53
وَ
ٱ لْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ ٥٣Walmu/tafikata ahwa
and He overthrew the town that was overturned,Ali Quli Qarai
And the overturned towns He hurled downSaheeh International
-
53:54
فَغَشَّى
ٰ هَا مَا غَشَّىٰ ٥٤Faghashshaha ma ghashsha
covering it with what covered it.Ali Quli Qarai
And covered them by that which He covered.Saheeh International
-
53:55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَال
َا ٓءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ ٥٥Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbika tatamara
Then which of the bounties of your Lord will you dispute?Ali Quli Qarai
Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt?Saheeh International
-
53:56
هَ
ٰ ذَا نَذِيرٌ ۭم ِّنَٱ ل نّ ُذُرِٱ لْأُولَىٰٓ ٥٦Hatha natheerun mina annuthurial-oola
This is a warner, [in the tradition] of the warners of old.Ali Quli Qarai
This [Prophet (ﷺ)] is a warner from [i.e., like] the former warners.Saheeh International
-
53:57
أَزِفَتِ
ٱ لَْٔازِفَةُ ٥٧Azifati al-azifat
The Imminent [Hour] is near at hand.Ali Quli Qarai
The Approaching Day has approached.Saheeh International
-
53:58
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِ
ن د ُونِٱ للَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ ٥٨Laysa laha min dooni Allahi kashifat
There is none who may unveil it besides Allah.Ali Quli Qarai
Of it, [from those] besides Allāh, there is no remover.Saheeh International
-
53:59
أَفَمِنْ هَ
ٰ ذَاٱ لْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُو نَ ٥٩Afamin hatha alhadeethitaAAjaboon
Will you then wonder at this discourse,Ali Quli Qarai
Then at this statement do you wonder?Saheeh International
-
53:60
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَ
بْ كُو نَ ٦٠Watadhakoona wala tabkoon
and laugh and not weep,Ali Quli Qarai
And you laugh and do not weepSaheeh International
-
53:61
وَأَ
نت ُمْ سَٰ مِدُو نَ ٦١Waantum samidoon
while you remain heedless?!Ali Quli Qarai
While you are proudly sporting?Saheeh International
-
53:62
فَ
ٱ سْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱ عْبُدُوا ۟ ۩ ٦٢Fasjudoo lillahi waAAbudoo
So prostrate yourselves to Allah and worship Him!Ali Quli Qarai
So prostrate to Allāh and worship [Him].Saheeh International
