بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 54:1

   ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ ۝١

   QaraiThe Hour has drawn near and the moon is split.

2. 54:2

   وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ ۝٢

   QaraiIf they see a sign, they turn away, and say, ‘An incessant magic!’

3. 54:3

   وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ ۝٣

   QaraiThey denied and followed their own desires, and every matter has a setting [appropriate to it].

4. 54:4

   وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ ۝٤

   QaraiThere have already come to them reports containing admonishment,

5. 54:5

   حِكْمَةٌۢ بَٰلِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ ۝٥

   Qarai[and representing] far-reaching wisdom; but warnings are of no avail!

6. 54:6

   فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍ نُّكُرٍ ۝٦

   QaraiSo turn away from them! The day when the Caller calls to a dire thing,

7. 54:7

   خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ ۝٧

   Qaraithey will emerge from the graves as if they were scattered locusts with a humbled look [in their eyes],

8. 54:8

   مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ ۝٨

   Qaraiscrambling toward the summoner. The faithless will say, ‘This is a hard day!’

9. 54:9

   ۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ ۝٩

   QaraiThe people of Noah impugned before them. So they impugned Our servant and said, ‘A crazy man,’ and he was reviled.

10. 54:10

    فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ ۝١٠

    QaraiThereat he invoked his Lord, [saying,] ‘I have been overcome, so help [me].’

11. 54:11

    فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ ۝١١

    QaraiThen We opened the gates of the sky with pouring waters,

12. 54:12

    وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ ۝١٢

    Qaraiand We made the earth burst forth with springs, and the waters met for a preordained purpose.

13. 54:13

    وَحَمَلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍ وَدُسُرٍ ۝١٣

    QaraiWe bore him on a vessel made of planks and nails,

14. 54:14

    تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ ۝١٤

    Qaraiwhich sailed [over the flood waters] in Our sight, as a retribution for him who was met with disbelief.

15. 54:15

    وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَٰهَآ ءَايَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ۝١٥

    QaraiCertainly We have left it as a sign; so is there anyone who will be admonished?

16. 54:16

    فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ۝١٦

    QaraiSo how were My punishment and warnings?

17. 54:17

    وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ۝١٧

    QaraiCertainly We have made the Quran simple for the sake of admonishment. So is there anyone who will be admonished?

18. 54:18

    كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ۝١٨

    Qarai[The people of] ‘Ad impugned [their apostle]. So how were My punishment and warnings?

19. 54:19

    إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ ۝١٩

    QaraiIndeed We unleashed upon them an icy gale on an incessantly ill-fated day,

20. 54:20

    تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ ۝٢٠

    Qaraiknocking down people as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees.

21. 54:21

    فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ۝٢١

    QaraiSo how were My punishment and warnings?!

22. 54:22

    وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ۝٢٢

    QaraiCertainly We have made the Quran simple for the sake of admonishment. So is there anyone who will be admonished?

23. 54:23

    كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ۝٢٣

    Qarai[The people of] Thamud denied the warnings,

24. 54:24

    فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ ۝٢٤

    Qaraiand they said, ‘Are we to follow a lone human from ourselves?! Indeed then we would be in error and madness.’

25. 54:25

    أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ ۝٢٥

    Qarai‘Has the Reminder been cast upon him from among us? No, he is a self-conceited liar.’

26. 54:26

    سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ ۝٢٦

    Qarai‘Tomorrow they will know who is a self-conceited liar.

27. 54:27

    إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ ۝٢٧

    QaraiWe are sending the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch them and be steadfast.

28. 54:28

    وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ ۝٢٨

    QaraiInform them that the water is to be shared between them; each of them showing up at his turn.’

29. 54:29

    فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ ۝٢٩

    QaraiBut they called their companion, and he took [a knife] and hamstrung [her].

30. 54:30

    فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ۝٣٠

    QaraiSo how were My punishment and My warnings?!

31. 54:31

    إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ ۝٣١

    QaraiWe sent against them a single Cry, and they became like the dry sticks of a corral builder.

32. 54:32

    وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ۝٣٢

    QaraiCertainly We have made the Quran simple for the sake of admonishment. So is there anyone who will be admonished?

33. 54:33

    كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ۝٣٣

    QaraiAnd the people of Lot denied the warnings.

34. 54:34

    إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَٰهُم بِسَحَرٍ ۝٣٤

    QaraiWe unleashed upon them a rain of stones, excepting the family of Lot, whom We delivered at dawn

35. 54:35

    نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ ۝٣٥

    Qaraias a blessing from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks.

36. 54:36

    وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ۝٣٦

    QaraiHe had already warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings.

37. 54:37

    وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ۝٣٧

    QaraiThey even solicited of him his guests, whereat We blotted out their eyes, [saying,] ‘Taste My punishment and My warnings!’

38. 54:38

    وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ ۝٣٨

    QaraiEarly at dawn there visited them an abiding punishment:

39. 54:39

    فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ۝٣٩

    Qarai‘Taste My punishment and warnings!’

40. 54:40

    وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ۝٤٠

    QaraiCertainly We have made the Quran simple for the sake of admonishment. So is there anyone who will be admonished?

41. 54:41

    وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ ۝٤١

    QaraiCertainly the warnings did come to Pharaoh’s clan

42. 54:42

    كَذَّبُوا۟ بَِٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ ۝٤٢

    Qaraiwho denied all of Our signs. So We seized them with the seizing of One [who is] all-mighty, Omnipotent.

43. 54:43

    أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ ۝٤٣

    QaraiAre your faithless better than those? Have you [been granted] [some sort of] immunity in the scriptures?

44. 54:44

    أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ ۝٤٤

    QaraiDo they say, ‘We are a confederate league’?

45. 54:45

    سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ ۝٤٥

    QaraiThe league will be routed and turn its back [to flee].

46. 54:46

    بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ ۝٤٦

    QaraiIndeed, the Hour is their tryst; and the Hour will be most calamitous and bitter.

47. 54:47

    إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ ۝٤٧

    QaraiIndeed the guilty are steeped in error and madness.

48. 54:48

    يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ ۝٤٨

    QaraiThe day when they are dragged on their faces into the Fire, [it will be said to them,] ‘Taste the touch of hell!’

49. 54:49

    إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ ۝٤٩

    QaraiIndeed We have created everything in a measure,

50. 54:50

    وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ ۝٥٠

    Qaraiand Our command is but a single [word], like the twinkling of an eye.

51. 54:51

    وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ۝٥١

    QaraiCertainly We have destroyed your likes. So is there anyone who will be admonished?

52. 54:52

    وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ ۝٥٢

    QaraiEverything they have done is in the books,

53. 54:53

    وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ ۝٥٣

    Qaraiand everything big and small is committed to writing.

54. 54:54

    إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ ۝٥٤

    QaraiIndeed the Godwary will be amid gardens and streams,

55. 54:55

    فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ ۝٥٥

    Qaraiin the abode of truthfulness with an omnipotent King.
