69:1
ٱلْح
َا ٓقَّةُ ١Alhaqqa
The Besieger!Ali Quli Qarai
The Inevitable Reality -Saheeh International
-
69:2
مَا
ٱ لْحَا ٓقَّةُ ٢Ma alhaqqa
What is the Besieger?!Ali Quli Qarai
What is the Inevitable Reality?Saheeh International
-
69:3
وَم
َآ أَدْ رَىٰ كَ مَاٱ لْحَا ٓقَّةُ ٣Wama adraka ma alhaqqa
What will show you what is the Besieger?!Ali Quli Qarai
And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?Saheeh International
-
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَا
دٌۢ ب ِٱ لْقَارِعَةِ ٤Kaththabat thamoodu waAAadun bilqariAAa
Thamudand ‘Ad denied the Cataclysm.Ali Quli Qarai
Thamūd and ʿAad denied the Striking Calamity [i.e., the Resurrection].Saheeh International
-
69:5
فَأَ
مّ َا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱ ل طَّاغِيَةِ ٥Faamma thamoodu faohlikoo bittaghiya
As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the Cry.Ali Quli Qarai
So as for Thamūd, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].Saheeh International
-
69:6
وَأَ
مّ َا عَادٌ ۭف َأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ ۢص َرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍۢ ٦Waamma AAadun faohlikoo bireehinsarsarin AAatiya
And as for ‘Ad, they were destroyed by a fierce icy gale,Ali Quli Qarai
And as for ʿAad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent windSaheeh International
-
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَ
بْ عَ لَيَالٍ ۢو َثَمَٰ نِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومً ۭا ف َتَرَىٱ لْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنّ َهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍۢ ٧Sakhkharaha AAalayhim sabAAa layalinwathamaniyata ayyamin husooman fataraalqawma feeha sarAAa kaannahum aAAjazunakhlin khawiya
which He clamped on them for seven gruelling nights and eight days, so that you could see the people there lying about prostrate as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.Ali Quli Qarai
Which He [i.e., Allāh] imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.Saheeh International

69:8
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَه
ُم م ِّنۢ ب َاقِيَةٍۢ ٨Fahal tara lahum min baqiya
So do you see any remaining trace of them?Ali Quli Qarai
Then do you see of them any remains?Saheeh International
-
69:9
وَج
َا ٓءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن ق َبْ لَهُۥ وَٱ لْمُؤْتَفِكَٰ تُ بِٱ لْخَاطِئَةِ ٩Wajaa firAAawnu waman qablahu walmu/tafikatubilkhati-a
Then Pharaoh and those who were before him, and the towns that were overturned, brought about iniquity.Ali Quli Qarai
And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin.Saheeh International
-
69:10
فَعَصَوْ
ا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً ۭر َّابِيَةً ١٠FaAAasaw rasoola rabbihim faakhathahumakhthatan rabiya
They disobeyed the apostle of their Lord, so He seized them with a terrible seizing.Ali Quli Qarai
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].Saheeh International
-
69:11
إِ
نّ َا لَمّ َا طَغَاٱ لْمَا ٓءُ حَمَلْنَٰ كُمْ فِىٱ لْجَارِيَةِ ١١Inna lamma taghaalmao hamalnakum fee aljariya
Indeed when the Flood rose high, We carried you in a floating ark,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you [i.e., your ancestors] in the sailing shipSaheeh International
-
69:12
لِنَ
جْ عَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً ۭو َتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ ۭو َٰ عِيَةٌۭ ١٢LinajAAalaha lakum tathkiratanwataAAiyaha othunun waAAiya
that We might make it a reminder for you, and that receptive ears might remember it.Ali Quli Qarai
That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.Saheeh International
-
69:13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى
ٱ ل صُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ ۭو َٰ حِدَةٌۭ ١٣Fa-itha nufikha fee assoorinafkhatun wahida
When the Trumpet is blown with a single blastAli Quli Qarai
Then when the Horn is blown with one blastSaheeh International
-
69:14
وَحُمِلَتِ
ٱ لْأَرْضُ وَٱ لْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً ۭو َٰ حِدَةًۭ ١٤Wahumilati al-ardu waljibalufadukkata dakkatan wahida
and the earth and the mountains are lifted and levelled with a single levelling,Ali Quli Qarai
And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow [i.e., stroke] -Saheeh International
-
69:15
فَيَوْمَئِ
ذٍ ۢو َقَعَتِٱ لْوَاقِعَةُ ١٥Fayawma-ithin waqaAAati alwaqiAAa
then, on that day, will the Imminent [Hour] befallAli Quli Qarai
Then on that Day, the Occurrence [i.e., Resurrection] will occur,Saheeh International
-
69:16
وَ
ٱ نش َقَّتِٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ۢو َاهِيَةٌۭ ١٦Wanshaqqati assamaofahiya yawma-ithin wahiya
and the sky will be split open—for it will be frail on that day—Ali Quli Qarai
And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.Saheeh International
-
69:17
وَ
ٱ لْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَا ٓئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ۢث َمَٰ نِيَةٌۭ ١٧Walmalaku AAala arja-ihawayahmilu AAarsha rabbika fawqahum yawma-ithin thamaniya
with the angels all over it, and the Throne of your Lord will be borne that day by eight [angels].Ali Quli Qarai
And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].Saheeh International
-
69:18
يَوْمَئِ
ذٍ ۢت ُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنك ُمْ خَافِيَةٌۭ ١٨Yawma-ithin tuAAradoona latakhfa minkum khafiya
That day you will be presented [before your Lord]: none of your secrets will remain hidden.Ali Quli Qarai
That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed.Saheeh International

69:19
فَأَ
مّ َا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰ بَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَا ٓؤُمُٱ قْ رَءُوا۟ كِتَٰ بِيَهْ ١٩Faamma man ootiya kitabahubiyameenihi fayaqoolu haomu iqraoo kitabiyah
As for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, ‘Here, take and read my book!Ali Quli Qarai
So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!Saheeh International

69:20
إِ
نّ ِى ظَنَنت ُ أَنّ ِى مُلَٰ قٍ حِسَابِيَهْ ٢٠Innee thanantu annee mulaqinhisabiyah
Indeed I knew that I will encounter my account [of deeds].’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."Saheeh International
-
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَ
ةٍ ۢر َّاضِيَةٍۢ ٢١Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin radiya
So he will have a pleasant life,Ali Quli Qarai
So he will be in a pleasant life -Saheeh International
-
69:22
فِى جَ
نّ َةٍ عَالِيَةٍۢ ٢٢Fee jannatin AAaliya
in an elevated garden,Ali Quli Qarai
In an elevated garden,Saheeh International
-
69:23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌۭ ٢٣
Qutoofuha daniya
whose clusters [of fruits] will be within easy reach.Ali Quli Qarai
Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.Saheeh International
-
69:24
كُلُو
ا۟ وَٱ شْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓ ًٔۢا ب ِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِىٱ لْأَيَّامِٱ لْخَالِيَةِ ٢٤Kuloo washraboo hanee-an bimaaslaftum fee al-ayyami alkhaliya
[He will be told]: ‘Enjoy your food and drink, for what you had sent in advance in past days [for your future life].’Ali Quli Qarai
[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past."Saheeh International

69:25
وَأَ
مّ َا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰ بَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰ لَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰ بِيَهْ ٢٥Waamma man ootiya kitabahubishimalihi fayaqoolu ya laytanee lam oota kitabiyah
But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, ‘I wish I had not been given my book,Ali Quli Qarai
But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my recordSaheeh International
-
69:26
وَلَمْ أَ
دْ رِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ ٢٦Walam adri ma hisabiyah
nor had I ever known what my account is!Ali Quli Qarai
And had not known what is my account.Saheeh International
-
69:27
يَ
ٰ لَيْتَهَا كَانَتِٱ لْقَاضِيَةَ ٢٧Ya laytaha kanati alqadiya
I wish death had been the end of it all!Ali Quli Qarai
I wish it [i.e., my death] had been the decisive one.Saheeh International
-
69:28
م
َآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنّ ِى مَالِيَهْ ۜ ٢٨Ma aghna AAannee maliyah
My wealth did not avail me.Ali Quli Qarai
My wealth has not availed me.Saheeh International
-
69:29
هَلَكَ عَ
نّ ِى سُلْطَٰ نِيَهْ ٢٩Halaka AAannee sultaniyah
My authority has left me.’Ali Quli Qarai
Gone from me is my authority."Saheeh International
-
69:30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلّ
ُو هُ ٣٠Khuthoohu faghullooh
[The angels will be told:] ‘Seize him, and fetter him!Ali Quli Qarai
[Allāh will say], "Seize him and shackle him.Saheeh International
-
69:31
ثُ
مّ َٱ لْجَحِيمَ صَلُّو هُ ٣١Thumma aljaheema sallooh
Then put him into hell.Ali Quli Qarai
Then into Hellfire drive him.Saheeh International
-
69:32
ثُ
مّ َ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ۢذ َرْعُهَا سَبْ عُونَ ذِرَاعً ۭا ف َٱ سْلُكُو هُ ٣٢Thumma fee silsilatin tharAAuhasabAAoona thiraAAan faslukooh
Then bind him in a chain, seventy cubits in length.Ali Quli Qarai
Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."Saheeh International
-
69:33
إِ
نّ َهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱ للَّهِٱ لْعَظِي مِ ٣٣Innahu kana la yu/minu billahialAAatheem
Indeed he had no faith in Allah, the All-supreme,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allāh, the Most Great,Saheeh International
-
69:34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ
ٱ لْمِسْكِي نِ ٣٤Wala yahuddu AAalataAAami almiskeen
and he did not urge the feeding of the needy,Ali Quli Qarai
Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.Saheeh International
-
69:35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ
ٱ لْيَوْمَ هَٰ هُنَا حَمِي مٌۭ ٣٥Falaysa lahu alyawma hahuna hameem
so he has no friend here today,Ali Quli Qarai
So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friendSaheeh International
-
69:36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْل
ِي نٍۢ ٣٦Wala taAAamun illamin ghisleen
nor any food except pus,Ali Quli Qarai
Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;Saheeh International
-
69:37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُ
ۥٓ إِلَّاٱ لْخَٰ طُِٔو نَ ٣٧La ya/kuluhu illa alkhati-oon
which no one shall eat except the iniquitous.’Ali Quli Qarai
None will eat it except the sinners.Saheeh International
-
69:38
فَل
َآ أُقْ سِمُ بِمَا تُبْ صِرُو نَ ٣٨Fala oqsimu bima tubsiroon
I swear by what you seeAli Quli Qarai
So I swear by what you seeSaheeh International
-
69:39
وَمَا لَا تُ
بْ صِرُو نَ ٣٩Wama la tubsiroon
and what you do not see:Ali Quli Qarai
And what you do not seeSaheeh International
-
69:40
إِ
نّ َهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ ۢك َرِي مٍۢ ٤٠Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareem
it is indeed the speech of a noble apostleAli Quli Qarai
[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the word of a noble Messenger.Saheeh International
-
69:41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِ
رٍ ۢۚ ق َلِيلً ۭام َّا تُؤْمِنُو نَ ٤١Wama huwa biqawli shaAAirinqaleelan ma tu/minoon
and it is not the speech of a poet. Little is the faith that you have!Ali Quli Qarai
And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.Saheeh International
-
69:42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِ
نٍ ۢۚ ق َلِيلً ۭام َّا تَذَكَّرُو نَ ٤٢Wala biqawli kahinin qaleelanma tathakkaroon
Nor is it the speech of a soothsayer. Little is the admonition that you take!Ali Quli Qarai
Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.Saheeh International
-
69:43
تَ
نز ِيلٌ ۭم ِّن ر َّبِّٱ لْعَٰ لَمِي نَ ٤٣Tanzeelun min rabbi alAAalameen
Gradually sent down from the Lord of all the worlds.Ali Quli Qarai
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.Saheeh International
-
69:44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ
ٱ لْأَقَاوِي لِ ٤٤Walaw taqawwala AAalayna baAAdaal-aqaweel
Had he faked any sayings in Our name,Ali Quli Qarai
And if he [i.e., Muḥammad] had made up about Us some [false] sayings,Saheeh International
-
69:45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِ
ٱ لْيَمِي نِ ٤٥Laakhathna minhu bilyameen
We would have surely seized him by the right handAli Quli Qarai
We would have seized him by the right hand;Saheeh International
-
69:46
ثُ
مّ َ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُٱ لْوَتِي نَ ٤٦Thumma laqataAAna minhualwateen
and then cut off his aorta,Ali Quli Qarai
Then We would have cut from him the aorta.Saheeh International
-
69:47
فَمَا مِ
نك ُم م ِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَٰ جِزِي نَ ٤٧Fama minkum min ahadin AAanhu hajizeen
and none of you could have held Us off from him.Ali Quli Qarai
And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.Saheeh International
-
69:48
وَإِ
نّ َهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ ۭل ِّلْمُتَّقِي نَ ٤٨Wa-innahu latathkiratun lilmuttaqeen
Indeed it is a reminder for the Godwary.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a reminder for the righteous.Saheeh International
-
69:49
وَإِ
نّ َا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنّ َ مِنك ُم م ُّكَذِّبِي نَ ٤٩Wa-inna lanaAAlamu anna minkum mukaththibeen
Indeed We know that there are some among you who deny [it].Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, We know that among you are deniers.Saheeh International
-
69:50
وَإِ
نّ َهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَىٱ لْكَٰ فِرِي نَ ٥٠Wa-innahu lahasratun AAala alkafireen
And indeed it will be a [matter of] regret for the faithless.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers.Saheeh International
-
69:51
وَإِ
نّ َهُۥ لَحَقُّٱ لْيَقِي نِ ٥١Wa-innahu lahaqqu alyaqeen
It is indeed certain truth.Ali Quli Qarai
And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.Saheeh International
-
69:52
فَسَبِّحْ بِ
ٱ سْمِ رَبِّكَٱ لْعَظِي مِ ٥٢Fasabbih bismi rabbika alAAatheem
So celebrate the Name of your Lord, the All-supreme.Ali Quli Qarai
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.Saheeh International
