بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

69:1
ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ١
Alhaqqa
QaraiThe Besieger!
Saheeh InternationalThe Inevitable Reality -
-
69:2
مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ٢
Ma alhaqqa
QaraiWhat is the Besieger?!
Saheeh InternationalWhat is the Inevitable Reality?
-
69:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ٣
Wama adraka ma alhaqqa
QaraiWhat will show you what is the Besieger?!
Saheeh InternationalAnd what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?
-
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ ٤
Kaththabat thamoodu waAAadun bilqariAAa
QaraiThamudand ‘Ad denied the Cataclysm.
Saheeh InternationalThamūd and ʿAad denied the Striking Calamity [i.e., the Resurrection].
-
69:5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ ٥
Faamma thamoodu faohlikoo bittaghiya
QaraiAs for Thamud, they were destroyed by the Cry.
Saheeh InternationalSo as for Thamūd, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].
-
69:6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ ٦
Waamma AAadun faohlikoo bireehinsarsarin AAatiya
QaraiAnd as for ‘Ad, they were destroyed by a fierce icy gale,
Saheeh InternationalAnd as for ʿAad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind
-
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ ٧
Sakhkharaha AAalayhim sabAAa layalinwathamaniyata ayyamin husooman fataraalqawma feeha sarAAa kaannahum aAAjazunakhlin khawiya
Qaraiwhich He clamped on them for seven gruelling nights and eight days, so that you could see the people there lying about prostrate as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
Saheeh InternationalWhich He [i.e., Allāh] imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
-
69:8
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ ٨
Fahal tara lahum min baqiya
QaraiSo do you see any remaining trace of them?
Saheeh InternationalThen do you see of them any remains?
-
69:9
وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ ٩
Wajaa firAAawnu waman qablahu walmu/tafikatubilkhati-a
QaraiThen Pharaoh and those who were before him, and the towns that were overturned, brought about iniquity.
Saheeh InternationalAnd there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin.
-
69:10
فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً ١٠
FaAAasaw rasoola rabbihim faakhathahumakhthatan rabiya
QaraiThey disobeyed the apostle of their Lord, so He seized them with a terrible seizing.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].
-
69:11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ ١١
Inna lamma taghaalmao hamalnakum fee aljariya
QaraiIndeed when the Flood rose high, We carried you in a floating ark,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you [i.e., your ancestors] in the sailing ship
-
69:12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ ١٢
LinajAAalaha lakum tathkiratanwataAAiyaha othunun waAAiya
Qaraithat We might make it a reminder for you, and that receptive ears might remember it.
Saheeh InternationalThat We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.
-
69:13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ ١٣
Fa-itha nufikha fee assoorinafkhatun wahida
QaraiWhen the Trumpet is blown with a single blast
Saheeh InternationalThen when the Horn is blown with one blast
-
69:14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً ١٤
Wahumilati al-ardu waljibalufadukkata dakkatan wahida
Qaraiand the earth and the mountains are lifted and levelled with a single levelling,
Saheeh InternationalAnd the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow [i.e., stroke] -
-
69:15
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ ١٥
Fayawma-ithin waqaAAati alwaqiAAa
Qaraithen, on that day, will the Imminent [Hour] befall
Saheeh InternationalThen on that Day, the Occurrence [i.e., Resurrection] will occur,
-
69:16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ ١٦
Wanshaqqati assamaofahiya yawma-ithin wahiya
Qaraiand the sky will be split open—for it will be frail on that day—
Saheeh InternationalAnd the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.
-
69:17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَٰنِيَةٌ ١٧
Walmalaku AAala arja-ihawayahmilu AAarsha rabbika fawqahum yawma-ithin thamaniya
Qaraiwith the angels all over it, and the Throne of your Lord will be borne that day by eight [angels].
Saheeh InternationalAnd the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].
-
69:18
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ ١٨
Yawma-ithin tuAAradoona latakhfa minkum khafiya
QaraiThat day you will be presented [before your Lord]: none of your secrets will remain hidden.
Saheeh InternationalThat Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed.
-
69:19
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَٰبِيَهْ ١٩
Faamma man ootiya kitabahubiyameenihi fayaqoolu haomu iqraoo kitabiyah
QaraiAs for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, ‘Here, take and read my book!
Saheeh InternationalSo as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!
-
69:20
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ ٢٠
Innee thanantu annee mulaqinhisabiyah
QaraiIndeed I knew that I will encounter my account [of deeds].’
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."
-
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ٢١
Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin radiya
QaraiSo he will have a pleasant life,
Saheeh InternationalSo he will be in a pleasant life -
-
69:22
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ٢٢
Fee jannatin AAaliya
Qaraiin an elevated garden,
Saheeh InternationalIn an elevated garden,
-
69:23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ ٢٣
Qutoofuha daniya
Qaraiwhose clusters [of fruits] will be within easy reach.
Saheeh InternationalIts [fruit] to be picked hanging near.
-
69:24
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيًٓٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ ٢٤
Kuloo washraboo hanee-an bimaaslaftum fee al-ayyami alkhaliya
Qarai[He will be told]: ‘Enjoy your food and drink, for what you had sent in advance in past days [for your future life].’
Saheeh International[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past."
-
69:25
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهْ ٢٥
Waamma man ootiya kitabahubishimalihi fayaqoolu ya laytanee lam oota kitabiyah
QaraiBut as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, ‘I wish I had not been given my book,
Saheeh InternationalBut as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record
-
69:26
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ ٢٦
Walam adri ma hisabiyah
Qarainor had I ever known what my account is!
Saheeh InternationalAnd had not known what is my account.
-
69:27
يَٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ ٢٧
Ya laytaha kanati alqadiya
QaraiI wish death had been the end of it all!
Saheeh InternationalI wish it [i.e., my death] had been the decisive one.
-
69:28
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ ٢٨
Ma aghna AAannee maliyah
QaraiMy wealth did not avail me.
Saheeh InternationalMy wealth has not availed me.
-
69:29
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَٰنِيَهْ ٢٩
Halaka AAannee sultaniyah
QaraiMy authority has left me.’
Saheeh InternationalGone from me is my authority."
-
69:30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ ٣٠
Khuthoohu faghullooh
Qarai[The angels will be told:] ‘Seize him, and fetter him!
Saheeh International[Allāh will say], "Seize him and shackle him.
-
69:31
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ ٣١
Thumma aljaheema sallooh
QaraiThen put him into hell.
Saheeh InternationalThen into Hellfire drive him.
-
69:32
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ ٣٢
Thumma fee silsilatin tharAAuhasabAAoona thiraAAan faslukooh
QaraiThen bind him in a chain, seventy cubits in length.
Saheeh InternationalThen into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."
-
69:33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٣٣
Innahu kana la yu/minu billahialAAatheem
QaraiIndeed he had no faith in Allah, the All-supreme,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, he did not used to believe in Allāh, the Most Great,
-
69:34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ ٣٤
Wala yahuddu AAalataAAami almiskeen
Qaraiand he did not urge the feeding of the needy,
Saheeh InternationalNor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.
-
69:35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ ٣٥
Falaysa lahu alyawma hahuna hameem
Qaraiso he has no friend here today,
Saheeh InternationalSo there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend
-
69:36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ ٣٦
Wala taAAamun illamin ghisleen
Qarainor any food except pus,
Saheeh InternationalNor any food except from the discharge of wounds;
-
69:37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَٰطُِٔونَ ٣٧
La ya/kuluhu illa alkhati-oon
Qaraiwhich no one shall eat except the iniquitous.’
Saheeh InternationalNone will eat it except the sinners.
-
69:38
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ ٣٨
Fala oqsimu bima tubsiroon
QaraiI swear by what you see
Saheeh InternationalSo I swear by what you see
-
69:39
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ ٣٩
Wama la tubsiroon
Qaraiand what you do not see:
Saheeh InternationalAnd what you do not see
-
69:40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ ٤٠
Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareem
Qaraiit is indeed the speech of a noble apostle
Saheeh International[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the word of a noble Messenger.
-
69:41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ ٤١
Wama huwa biqawli shaAAirinqaleelan ma tu/minoon
Qaraiand it is not the speech of a poet. Little is the faith that you have!
Saheeh InternationalAnd it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.
-
69:42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ٤٢
Wala biqawli kahinin qaleelanma tathakkaroon
QaraiNor is it the speech of a soothsayer. Little is the admonition that you take!
Saheeh InternationalNor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.
-
69:43
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٤٣
Tanzeelun min rabbi alAAalameen
QaraiGradually sent down from the Lord of all the worlds.
Saheeh International[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.
-
69:44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ ٤٤
Walaw taqawwala AAalayna baAAdaal-aqaweel
QaraiHad he faked any sayings in Our name,
Saheeh InternationalAnd if he [i.e., Muḥammad] had made up about Us some [false] sayings,
-
69:45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ ٤٥
Laakhathna minhu bilyameen
QaraiWe would have surely seized him by the right hand
Saheeh InternationalWe would have seized him by the right hand;
-
69:46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ ٤٦
Thumma laqataAAna minhualwateen
Qaraiand then cut off his aorta,
Saheeh InternationalThen We would have cut from him the aorta.
-
69:47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَٰجِزِينَ ٤٧
Fama minkum min ahadin AAanhu hajizeen
Qaraiand none of you could have held Us off from him.
Saheeh InternationalAnd there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.
-
69:48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ٤٨
Wa-innahu latathkiratun lilmuttaqeen
QaraiIndeed it is a reminder for the Godwary.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a reminder for the righteous.
-
69:49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ ٤٩
Wa-inna lanaAAlamu anna minkum mukaththibeen
QaraiIndeed We know that there are some among you who deny [it].
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, We know that among you are deniers.
-
69:50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ٥٠
Wa-innahu lahasratun AAala alkafireen
QaraiAnd indeed it will be a [matter of] regret for the faithless.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers.
-
69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ ٥١
Wa-innahu lahaqqu alyaqeen
QaraiIt is indeed certain truth.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it is the truth of certainty.
-
69:52
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٥٢
Fasabbih bismi rabbika alAAatheem
QaraiSo celebrate the Name of your Lord, the All-supreme.
Saheeh InternationalSo exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
