بِسْمِ
-
72:1
قُلْ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ أَ
نّ َهُٱ سْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ ۭم ِّنَٱ لْجِنّ ِ فَقَالُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َا سَمِعْنَا قُرْءَانًا عَجَبًۭا ١Qul oohiya ilayya annahu istamaAAanafarun mina aljinni faqaloo inna samiAAnaqur-anan AAajaba
Say, ‘It has been revealed to me that a team of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, “Indeed we heard a wonderful Quran,Ali Quli Qarai
Say, [O Muḥammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur’ān [i.e., recitation].Saheeh International

72:2
يَهْد
ِىٓ إِلَىٱ ل رُّشْدِ فََٔامَنّ َا بِهِۦ ۖ وَلَن ن ُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدًۭا ٢Yahdee ila arrushdi faamannabihi walan nushrika birabbina ahada
which guides to rectitude. Hence, we have believed in it and we will never ascribe any partner to our Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone.Saheeh International

72:3
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ تَعَٰ لَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَاٱ تَّخَذَ صَٰ حِبَةً ۭو َلَا وَلَدًۭا ٣Waannahu taAAala jaddu rabbinama ittakhatha sahibatan wala walada
Exalted be the majesty of our Lord; He has taken neither any spouse nor son.Ali Quli Qarai
And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a sonSaheeh International
-
72:4
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَىٱ للَّهِ شَطَطًۭا ٤Waannahu kana yaqoolu safeehunaAAala Allahi shatata
The foolish ones among us used to speak atrocious lies concerning Allah.Ali Quli Qarai
And that our foolish one [i.e., Iblees] has been saying about Allāh an excessive transgression.Saheeh International

72:5
وَأَ
نّ َا ظَنَنّ َآ أَن ل َّن ت َقُولَٱ لْإِنس ُ وَٱ لْجِنّ ُ عَلَىٱ للَّهِ كَذِبًۭا ٥Waanna thanannaan lan taqoola al-insu waljinnu AAala Allahikathiba
We thought that humans and jinn would never utter any falsehood concerning Allah.Ali Quli Qarai
And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allāh a lie.Saheeh International

72:6
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٌ ۭم ِّنَٱ لْإِنس ِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ ۢم ِّنَٱ لْجِنّ ِ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًۭا ٦Waannahu kana rijalun minaal-insi yaAAoothoona birijalin mina aljinni fazadoohumrahaqa
Indeed some persons from the humans would seek the protection of some persons from the jinn, thus only adding to their rebellion.Ali Quli Qarai
And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden [i.e., sin].Saheeh International

72:7
وَأَ
نّ َهُمْ ظَنّ ُوا۟ كَمَا ظَنَنت ُمْ أَن ل َّن ي َبْ عَثَٱ للَّهُ أَحَدًۭا ٧Waannahum thannoo kama thanantuman lan yabAAatha Allahu ahada
They thought, just as you think, that Allah will not raise anyone from the dead.Ali Quli Qarai
And they had thought, as you thought, that Allāh would never send anyone [as a messenger].Saheeh International

72:8
وَأَ
نّ َا لَمَسْنَاٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءَ فَوَجَدْ نَٰ هَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسً ۭا ش َدِيدً ۭا و َشُهُبًۭا ٨Waanna lamasna assamaafawajadnaha muli-at harasan shadeedanwashuhuba
Indeed we made for the heaven and found it full of mighty sentries and flames.Ali Quli Qarai
And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames.Saheeh International

72:9
وَأَ
نّ َا كُنّ َا نَقْ عُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَٰ عِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ ۖ فَمَن ي َسْتَمِعِٱ لَْٔانَ يَجِدْ لَهُۥ شِهَابً ۭا ر َّصَدًۭا ٩Waanna kunna naqAAudu minhamaqaAAida lissamAAi faman yastamiAAi al-anayajid lahu shihaban rasada
We used to sit in its positions to eavesdrop, but anyone listening now finds a flame waiting for him.Ali Quli Qarai
And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.Saheeh International

72:10
وَأَ
نّ َا لَا نَدْ رِىٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن ف ِىٱ لْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًۭا ١٠Waanna la nadree asharrunoreeda biman fee al-ardi am arada bihim rabbuhumrashada
We do not know whether ill is intended for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intends good for them.Ali Quli Qarai
And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course.Saheeh International

72:11
وَأَ
نّ َا مِنّ َاٱ ل صَّٰ لِحُونَ وَمِنّ َا دُونَ ذَٰ لِكَ ۖ كُنّ َا طَرَا ٓئِقَ قِدَدًۭا ١١Waanna minna assalihoonawaminna doona thalika kunna tara-iqaqidada
Among us some are righteous and some are otherwise: we are various sects.Ali Quli Qarai
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways.Saheeh International
-
72:12
وَأَ
نّ َا ظَنَنّ َآ أَن ل َّن ن ُّعْجِزَٱ للَّهَ فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ وَلَن ن ُّعْجِزَهُۥ هَرَبًۭا ١٢Wanna thanannaan lan nuAAjiza Allaha fee al-ardi walan nuAAjizahuharaba
We know that we cannot frustrate Allah on the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by fleeing.Ali Quli Qarai
And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allāh upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.Saheeh International

72:13
وَأَ
نّ َا لَمّ َا سَمِعْنَاٱ لْهُدَىٰٓ ءَامَنّ َا بِهِۦ ۖ فَمَن ي ُؤْمِنۢ ب ِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسً ۭا و َلَا رَهَقًۭا ١٣Waanna lamma samiAAnaalhuda amanna bihi faman yu/min birabbihifala yakhafu bakhsan wala rahaqa
When we heard the [message of] guidance, we believed in it. Whoever that has faith in his Lord will fear neither privation nor oppression.Ali Quli Qarai
And when we heard the guidance [i.e., the Qur’ān], we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden.Saheeh International

72:14
وَأَ
نّ َا مِنّ َاٱ لْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنّ َاٱ لْقَٰ سِطُونَ ۖ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا۟ رَشَدًۭا ١٤Waanna minna almuslimoonawaminna alqasitoona faman aslama faola-ikataharraw rashada
Among us some are Muslims and some of us are perverse.” ’ Those who submit [to Allah]—it is they who pursue rectitude.Ali Quli Qarai
And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allāh], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course.Saheeh International
-
72:15
وَأَ
مّ َاٱ لْقَٰ سِطُونَ فَكَانُوا۟ لِجَهَنّ َمَ حَطَبًۭا ١٥Waama alqasitoona fakanoolijahannama hataba
As for the perverse, they will be firewood for hell.Ali Quli Qarai
But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.'Saheeh International
-
72:16
وَأَلَّوِ
ٱ سْتَقَٰ مُوا۟ عَلَىٱ ل طَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَٰ هُم م َّا ٓءً غَدَقًۭا ١٦Waallawi istaqamoo AAala attareeqatilaasqaynahum maan ghadaqa
If they are steadfast on the path [of Allah], We shall provide them with abundant water,Ali Quli Qarai
And [Allāh revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant rain [i.e., provision]Saheeh International
-
72:17
لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَم
َن ي ُعْرِضْ عَن ذ ِكْرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابً ۭا ص َعَدًۭا ١٧Linaftinahum feehi waman yuAArid AAanthikri rabbihi yasluk-hu AAathaban saAAada
so that We may test them therein, and whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will let him into an escalating punishment.Ali Quli Qarai
So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment.Saheeh International

72:18
وَأَ
نّ َٱ لْمَسَٰ جِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْ عُوا۟ مَعَٱ للَّهِ أَحَدًۭا ١٨Waanna almasajida lillahi falatadAAoo maAAa Allahi ahada
The places of worship belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone along with Allah.Ali Quli Qarai
And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allāh, so do not invoke with Allāh anyone.Saheeh International
-
72:19
وَأَ
نّ َهُۥ لَمّ َا قَامَ عَبْ دُٱ للَّهِ يَدْ عُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًۭا ١٩Waannahu lamma qama AAabdu AllahiyadAAoohu kadoo yakoonoona AAalayhi libada
When the servant of Allah rose to pray to Him, they almost crowded around him.Ali Quli Qarai
And that when the Servant [i.e., Prophet] of Allāh stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass."Saheeh International

72:20
قُلْ إِ
نّ َمَآ أَدْ عُوا۟ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدًۭا ٢٠Qul innama adAAoo rabbee walaoshriku bihi ahada
Say, ‘I pray only to my Lord, and I do not ascribe any partner to Him.’Ali Quli Qarai
Say, [O Muḥammad], "I only invoke my Lord and do not associate with Him anyone."Saheeh International

72:21
قُلْ إِ
نّ ِى لَآ أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّ ۭا و َلَا رَشَدًۭا ٢١Qul innee la amliku lakum darranwala rashada
Say, ‘I have no power to bring you any harm or good [of my own accord].’Ali Quli Qarai
Say, "Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction."Saheeh International

72:22
قُلْ إِ
نّ ِى لَن ي ُجِيرَنِى مِنَٱ للَّهِ أَحَدٌ ۭو َلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن د ُونِهِۦ مُلْتَحَدًا ٢٢Qul innee lan yujeeranee mina Allahiahadun walan ajida min doonihi multahada
Say, ‘Neither can anyone shelter me from Allah, nor can I find any refuge besides Him.Ali Quli Qarai
Say, "Indeed, there will never protect me from Allāh anyone [if I should disobey], nor will I find in other than Him a refuge.Saheeh International
-
72:23
إِلَّا بَلَ
ٰ غً ۭا م ِّنَٱ للَّهِ وَرِسَٰ لَٰ تِهِۦ ۚ وَمَن ي َعْصِٱ للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنّ َ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنّ َمَ خَٰ لِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ٢٣Illa balaghan mina Allahiwarisalatihi waman yaAAsi Allahawarasoolahu fa-inna lahu nara jahannama khalideenafeeha abada
[I have no duty] except to transmit from Allah, and [to communicate] His messages; and whoever disobeys Allah and His apostle, there will indeed be for him the fire of hell, to remain in it forever.’Ali Quli Qarai
But [I have for you] only notification from Allāh, and His messages." And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger - then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell; they will abide therein forever.Saheeh International

72:24
حَتَّ
ىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرً ۭا و َأَقَلُّ عَدَدًۭا ٢٤Hatta itha raaw mayooAAadoona fasayaAAlamoona man adAAafu nasiranwaaqallu AAadada
When they see what they are promised, they will know who is weaker in supporters and fewer in numbers.Ali Quli Qarai
[The disbelievers continue] until, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who is weaker in helpers and less in number.Saheeh International

72:25
قُلْ إِنْ أَ
دْ رِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌ ۭم َّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْ عَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّىٓ أَمَدًا ٢٥Qul in adree aqareebun ma tooAAadoonaam yajAAalu lahu rabbee amada
Say, ‘I do not know if what you are promised is near, or if my Lord has set a [long] term for it.’Ali Quli Qarai
Say, "I do not know if what you are promised is near or if my Lord will grant for it a [long] period."Saheeh International

72:26
عَ
ٰ لِمُٱ لْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا ٢٦AAalimu alghaybi fala yuthhiruAAala ghaybihi ahada
Knower of the Unseen, He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] Unseen to anyone,Ali Quli Qarai
[He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyoneSaheeh International
-
72:27
إِلَّا مَنِ
ٱ رْتَضَىٰ مِن ر َّسُولٍ ۢف َإِنّ َهُۥ يَسْلُكُ مِنۢ ب َيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ رَصَدًۭا ٢٧Illa mani irtada min rasoolinfa-innahu yasluku min bayni yadayhi wamin khalfihi rasada
except to an apostle He approves of. Then He dispatches a sentinel before and behind himAli Quli Qarai
Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before him [i.e., each messenger] and behind him observersSaheeh International
-
72:28
لِّيَعْلَمَ أَ
ن ق َدْ أَبْ لَغُوا۟ رِسَٰ لَٰ تِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عَدَدًۢا ٢٨LiyaAAlama an qad ablaghoo risalatirabbihim waahata bima ladayhim waahsa kullashay-in AAadada
so that He may ascertain that they have communicated the messages of their Lord, and He encompasses all that is with them, and He keeps an count of all things.Ali Quli Qarai
That he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord; and He has encompassed whatever is with them and has enumerated all things in number.Saheeh International
