بِسْمِ
-
73:1
يَ
ٰٓ أَيُّهَاٱ لْمُزَّمّ ِلُ ١Ya ayyuha almuzzammil
O you wrapped up in your mantle!Ali Quli Qarai
O you who wraps himself [in clothing],Saheeh International
-
73:2
قُمِ
ٱ لَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا ٢Qumi allayla illa qaleela
Stand vigil through the night, except for a little [of it],Ali Quli Qarai
Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little -Saheeh International
-
73:3
نِّصْفَهُ
ۥٓ أَوِٱ نق ُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا ٣Nisfahu awi onqus minhu qaleela
a half, or reduce a little from thatAli Quli Qarai
Half of it - or subtract from it a littleSaheeh International
-
73:4
أَوْ زِ
دْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِٱ لْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا ٤Aw zid AAalayhi warattili alqur-anatarteela
or add to it, and recite the Quran in a measured tone.Ali Quli Qarai
Or add to it, and recite the Qur’ān with measured recitation.Saheeh International

73:5
إِ
نّ َا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلً ۭاث َقِيلًا ٥Inna sanulqee AAalayka qawlan thaqeela
Indeed soon We shall cast on you a weighty discourse.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.Saheeh International

73:6
إِ
نّ َ نَاشِئَةَٱ لَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْ ًٔ ۭا و َأَقْ وَمُ قِيلًا ٦Inna nashi-ata allayli hiya ashaddu wat-anwaaqwamu qeela
Indeed the watch of the night is firmer in tread and more upright in respect to speech,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words.Saheeh International

73:7
إِ
نّ َ لَكَ فِىٱ ل نّ َهَارِ سَبْ حً ۭا ط َوِيلًۭا ٧Inna laka fee annahari sabhantaweela
for indeed during the day you have drawn-out engagements.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation.Saheeh International

73:8
وَ
ٱ ذْكُرِٱ سْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْ تِيلًۭا ٨Wathkuri isma rabbikawatabattal ilayhi tabteela
So celebrate the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself to Him with total dedication.Ali Quli Qarai
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.Saheeh International

73:9
رَّبُّ
ٱ لْمَشْرِقِ وَٱ لْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰ هَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱ تَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًۭا ٩Rabbu almashriqi walmaghribi lailaha illa huwa fattakhithhu wakeela
Lord of the east and the west, there is no god except Him; so take Him for your trustee,Ali Quli Qarai
[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.Saheeh International

73:10
وَ
ٱ صْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱ هْجُرْهُمْ هَجْ رً ۭا ج َمِيلًۭا ١٠Wasbir AAala mayaqooloona wahjurhum hajran jameela
and be patient over what they say, and distance yourself from them in a graceful manner.Ali Quli Qarai
And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.Saheeh International

73:11
وَذَرْنِى وَ
ٱ لْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟ لِىٱ ل نّ َعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا ١١Watharnee walmukaththibeenaolee annaAAmati wamahhilhum qaleela
Leave Me [to deal] with the deniers, the opulent, and give them a little respite.Ali Quli Qarai
And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little.Saheeh International

73:12
إِ
نّ َ لَدَيْنَآ أَنك َالً ۭاو َجَحِيمًۭا ١٢Inna ladayna ankalan wajaheema
Indeed with Us are heavy fetters and a fierce fire,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fireSaheeh International
-
73:13
وَطَعَا
مً ۭا ذ َا غُصَّةٍ ۢو َعَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا ١٣WataAAaman tha ghussatinwaAAathaban aleema
and a food that chokes [those who eat it], and a painful punishment [prepared for]Ali Quli Qarai
And food that chokes and a painful punishment -Saheeh International
-
73:14
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ
ٱ لْأَرْضُ وَٱ لْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِٱ لْجِبَالُ كَثِيبً ۭا م َّهِيلًا ١٤Yawma tarjufu al-ardu waljibaluwakanati aljibalu katheeban maheela
the day when the earth and the mountains will quake, and the mountains will be like dunes of shifting sand.Ali Quli Qarai
On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down.Saheeh International

73:15
إِ
نّ َآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولً ۭاش َٰ هِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًۭا ١٥Inna arsalna ilaykum rasoolanshahidan AAalaykum kama arsalna ilafirAAawna rasoola
Indeed We have sent to you an apostle, to be a witness to you, just as We sent an apostle to Pharaoh.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.Saheeh International

73:16
فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ
ٱ ل رَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَٰ هُ أَخْذً ۭا و َبِيلًۭا ١٦FaAAasa firAAawnu arrasoolafaakhathnahu akhthan wabeela
But Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a terrible seizing.Ali Quli Qarai
But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.Saheeh International

73:17
فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِ
ن ك َفَرْتُمْ يَوْمً ۭا ي َجْ عَلُٱ لْوِلْدَٰ نَ شِيبًا ١٧Fakayfa tattaqoona in kafartum yawmanyajAAalu alwildana sheeba
So, if you disbelieve, how will you avoid the day, which will make children white-headed,Ali Quli Qarai
Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white-haired?Saheeh International

73:18
ٱ
ل سَّمَا ٓءُ مُنف َطِرٌۢ ب ِهِۦ ۚ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَفْعُولًا ١٨Assamao munfatirunbihi kana waAAduhu mafAAoola
and wherein the sky will be rent apart? His promise is bound to be fulfilled.Ali Quli Qarai
The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled.Saheeh International

73:19
إِ
نّ َ هَٰ ذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۭۖ ف َمَن ش َا ٓءَٱ تَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا ١٩Inna hathihi tathkiratun famanshaa ittakhatha ila rabbihi sabeela
This is indeed a reminder. So let anyone who wishes take the way toward his Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way.Saheeh International

73:20
۞ إِ
نّ َ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنّ َكَ تَقُومُ أَدْ نَىٰ مِن ث ُلُثَىِٱ لَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَا ٓئِفَةٌ ۭم ِّنَٱ لَّذِينَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَٱ للَّهُ يُقَدِّرُٱ لَّيْلَ وَٱ ل نّ َهَارَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن ل َّن ت ُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَٱ قْ رَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَٱ لْقُرْءَانِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن س َيَكُونُ مِنك ُم م َّرْضَىٰ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِىٱ لْأَرْضِ يَبْ تَغُونَ مِن ف َضْلِٱ للَّهِ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰ تِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِٱ للَّهِ ۖ فَٱ قْ رَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ ۚ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱ ل صَّلَو ٰ ةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱ ل زَّكَو ٰ ةَ وَأَقْ رِضُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنً ۭا ۚ و َمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنف ُسِكُم م ِّنْ خَيْرٍ ۢت َجِدُوهُ عِند َٱ للَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرً ۭا و َأَعْظَمَ أَجْ رً ۭا ۚ و َٱ سْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱ للَّهَ ۖ إِنّ َٱ للَّهَ غَفُورٌ ۭر َّحِي مٌۢ ٢٠Inna rabbaka yaAAlamu annaka taqoomu adnamin thuluthayi allayli wanisfahu wathuluthahu wata-ifatunmina allatheena maAAaka wallahu yuqaddiruallayla wannahara AAalima an lan tuhsoohufataba AAalaykum faqraoo ma tayassara minaalqur-ani AAalima an sayakoonu minkum marda waakharoonayadriboona fee al-ardi yabtaghoona min fadliAllahi waakharoona yuqatiloona fee sabeeliAllahi faqraoo ma tayassara minhu waaqeemooassalata waatoo azzakatawaaqridoo Allaha qardan hasanan wamatuqaddimoo li-anfusikum min khayrin tajidoohu AAinda Allahihuwa khayran waaAAthama ajran wastaghfirooAllaha inna Allaha ghafoorun raheem
Indeed your Lord knows that you stand vigil for nearly two thirds of the night—or [at times] a half or a third of it—along with a group of those who are with you. Allah measures the night and the day. He knows that you cannot calculate it [exactly], and so He was lenient toward you. So recite as much of the Quran as is feasible. He knows that some of you will be sick, while others will travel in the land seeking Allah’s bounty, and yet others will fight in the way of Allah. So recite as much of it as is feasible, and maintain the prayer and pay the zakat and lend Allah a good loan. Whatever good you send ahead for your souls you will find it with Allah [in a form] that is better and greater with respect to reward. And plead to Allah for forgiveness; indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muḥammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allāh determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’ān. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allāh and others fighting for the cause of Allāh. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakāh and loan Allāh a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allāh. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.Saheeh International
