Al-Insan · The Man
31 verses · Revealed in Madinah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
76:1
هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَٰنِ حِينٌ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَئًْا مَّذْكُورًا ١
Hal ata AAala al-insani heenunmina addahri lam yakun shay-an mathkoora
QaraiHas there been a period of time for man when he was not anything worthy of mention?
Saheeh InternationalHas there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?
-
76:2
إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا ٢
Inna khalaqna al-insanamin nutfatin amshajin nabtaleehi fajaAAalnahusameeAAan baseera
QaraiIndeed We created man from the drop of a mixed fluid so that We may put him to test, so We endowed with hearing and sight.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing.

76:3
إِنَّا هَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا ٣
Inna hadaynahu assabeelaimma shakiran wa-imma kafoora
QaraiIndeed We have guided him to the way, be he grateful or ungrateful.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.
-
76:4
إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ سَلَٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغْلَٰلًا وَسَعِيرًا ٤
Inna aAAtadna lilkafireenasalasila waaghlalan wasaAAeera
QaraiIndeed for the faithless We have prepared chains, iron collars, and a blaze.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze.

76:5
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا ٥
Inna al-abrara yashraboona min ka/sinkana mizajuha kafoora
QaraiIndeed the pious will drink from a cup seasoned with Kafur,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kāfūr,
-
76:6
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا ٦
AAaynan yashrabu biha AAibaduAllahi yufajjiroonaha tafjeera
Qaraia spring where Allah’s servants will drink, making it gush forth as they please.
Saheeh InternationalA spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allāh will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].

76:7
يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًا ٧
Yoofoona binnathri wayakhafoonayawman kana sharruhu mustateera
QaraiThey fulfill their vows and fear a day whose ill will be widespread.
Saheeh InternationalThey [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.
-
76:8
وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا ٨
WayutAAimona attaAAamaAAala hubbihi miskeenan wayateeman waaseera
QaraiFor the love of Him, they feed the needy, the orphan and the prisoner,
Saheeh InternationalAnd they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,
-
76:9
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا ٩
Innama nutAAimukum liwajhi Allahila nureedu minkum jazaan wala shukoora
Qarai[saying,] ‘We feed you only for the sake of Allah. We desire no reward from you, nor thanks.
Saheeh International[Saying], "We feed you only for the face [i.e., approval] of Allāh. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.
-
76:10
إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا ١٠
Inna nakhafu min rabbinayawman AAaboosan qamtareera
QaraiIndeed we fear a frowning and fateful day from our Lord.’
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."
-
76:11
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا ١١
Fawaqahumu Allahu sharra thalikaalyawmi walaqqahum nadratan wasuroora
QaraiSo Allah saved them from that day’s ills and graced them with freshness [on this faces] and joy [in their hearts].
Saheeh InternationalSo Allāh will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness
-
76:12
وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا ١٢
Wajazahum bima sabaroojannatan wahareera
QaraiHe rewarded them for their patience with a garden and [garments of] silk,
Saheeh InternationalAnd will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].

76:13
مُّتَّكِِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا ١٣
Muttaki-eena feeha AAala al-ara-ikila yarawna feeha shamsan wala zamhareera
Qaraireclining therein on couches, without facing any [scorching] sun, or [biting] cold.
Saheeh International[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.
-
76:14
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا ١٤
Wadaniyatan AAalayhim thilaluhawathullilat qutoofuha tathleela
QaraiIts shades will be close over them and its clusters [of fruits] will be hanging low.
Saheeh InternationalAnd near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance.

76:15
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بَِٔانِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠ ١٥
Wayutafu AAalayhim bi-aniyatinmin fiddatin waakwabin kanat qawareera
QaraiThey will be served around with vessels of silver and goblets of crystal
Saheeh InternationalAnd there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass],
-
76:16
قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا ١٦
Qawareera min fiddatinqaddarooha taqdeera
Qarai—crystal of silver— [from] which they will dispense in a precise measure.
Saheeh InternationalClear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure.

76:17
وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا ١٧
Wayusqawna feeha ka/san kanamizajuha zanjabeela
QaraiThey will be served therein with a cup of a drink seasoned with Zanjabeel,
Saheeh InternationalAnd they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger
-
76:18
عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا ١٨
AAaynan feeha tusammasalsabeela
Qaraifrom a spring in it named Salsabeel.
Saheeh International[From] a fountain within it [i.e., Paradise] named Salsabeel.

76:19
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا ١٩
Wayatoofu AAalayhim wildanunmukhalladoona itha raaytahum hasibtahum lu/lu-anmanthoora
QaraiThey will be waited upon by immortal youths, whom, were you to see them, you will suppose them to be scattered pearls.
Saheeh InternationalThere will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls.

76:20
وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا ٢٠
Wa-itha raayta thamma raaytanaAAeeman wamulkan kabeera
QaraiAs you look on, you will see there bliss and a great kingdom.
Saheeh InternationalAnd when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion.

76:21
عَٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا ٢١
AAaliyahum thiyabu sundusinkhudrun wa-istabraqun wahulloo asawira minfiddatin wasaqahum rabbuhum sharaban tahoora
QaraiUpon them will be cloaks of green silk and brocade and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them to drink a pure drink.
Saheeh InternationalUpon them [i.e., the inhabitants] will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.

76:22
إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا ٢٢
Inna hatha kana lakum jazaanwakana saAAyukum mashkoora
Qarai[They will be told]: ‘This is your reward, and your efforts have been well-appreciated.’
Saheeh International[And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated."
-
76:23
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًا ٢٣
Inna nahnu nazzalnaAAalayka alqur-ana tanzeela
QaraiIndeed We have sent down to you the Quran in a gradual descent.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], the Qur’ān progressively.
-
76:24
فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا ٢٤
Fasbir lihukmi rabbikawala tutiAA minhum athiman aw kafoora
QaraiSo submit patiently to the judgement of your Lord and do not obey any sinner or ingrate from among them,
Saheeh InternationalSo be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever].
-
76:25
وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا ٢٥
Wathkuri isma rabbikabukratan waaseela
Qaraiand celebrate the Name of your Lord morning and evening,
Saheeh InternationalAnd mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening
-
76:26
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَٱسْجُدْ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا ٢٦
Wamina allayli fasjud lahu wasabbihhulaylan taweela
Qaraiand worship Him for a watch of the night and glorify Him the night long.
Saheeh InternationalAnd during the night prostrate to Him and exalt [i.e., praise] Him a long [part of the] night.
-
76:27
إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا ٢٧
Inna haola-i yuhibboonaalAAajilata wayatharoona waraahum yawmanthaqeela
QaraiIndeed they love this transitory life, and disregard a heavy day that is ahead of them.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them a grave Day.
-
76:28
نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا ٢٨
Nahnu khalaqnahum washadadnaasrahum wa-itha shi/na baddalna amthalahumtabdeela
QaraiWe created them and strengthened their joints, and We will replace them with others like them whenever We like.
Saheeh InternationalWe have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration.

76:29
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا ٢٩
Inna hathihi tathkiratun famanshaa ittakhatha ila rabbihi sabeela
QaraiThis is indeed a reminder. So let anyone who wishes take the way toward his Lord.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way.
-
76:30
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا ٣٠
Wama tashaoona illa anyashaa Allahu inna Allaha kanaAAaleeman hakeema
QaraiBut you will not wish unless it is willed by Allah. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.
Saheeh InternationalAnd you do not will except that Allāh wills. Indeed, Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.

76:31
يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۢا ٣١
Yudkhilu man yashao fee rahmatihiwaththalimeena aAAadda lahum AAathabanaleema
QaraiHe admits whomever He wishes into His mercy, and He has prepared a painful punishment for the wrongdoers.
Saheeh InternationalHe admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment.
