بِسْمِ
-
78:1
عَ
مّ َ يَتَسَا ٓءَلُو نَ ١AAamma yatasaaloon
What is it that they are questioning each other about?!Ali Quli Qarai
About what are they asking one another?Saheeh International
-
78:2
عَنِ
ٱ ل نّ َبَإِٱ لْعَظِي مِ ٢AAani annaba-i alAAatheem
[Is it] about the Great Tiding,Ali Quli Qarai
About the great news -Saheeh International
-
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِف
ُو نَ ٣Allathee hum feehi mukhtalifoon
the one about which they differ?Ali Quli Qarai
That over which they are in disagreement.Saheeh International
-
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَم
ُو نَ ٤Kalla sayaAAlamoon
No indeed! Soon they will know!Ali Quli Qarai
No! They are going to know.Saheeh International
-
78:5
ثُ
مّ َ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُو نَ ٥Thumma kalla sayaAAlamoon
No indeed! Soon they will know for once again!Ali Quli Qarai
Then, no! They are going to know.Saheeh International
-
78:6
أَلَمْ نَ
جْ عَلِٱ لْأَرْضَ مِهَٰ دًۭا ٦Alam najAAali al-arda mihada
Did We not make the earth a resting place?Ali Quli Qarai
Have We not made the earth a resting place?Saheeh International
-
78:7
وَ
ٱ لْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًۭا ٧Waljibala awtada
and the mountains stakes?Ali Quli Qarai
And the mountains as stakes?Saheeh International
-
78:8
وَخَلَ
قْ نَٰ كُمْ أَزْوَٰ جًۭا ٨Wakhalaqnakum azwaja
and create you in pairs?Ali Quli Qarai
And We created you in pairsSaheeh International
-
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًۭا ٩
WajaAAalna nawmakum subata
and make your sleep for rest?Ali Quli Qarai
And made your sleep [a means for] restSaheeh International
-
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا
ٱ لَّيْلَ لِبَاسًۭا ١٠WajaAAalna allayla libasa
and make the night a covering?Ali Quli Qarai
And made the night as clothingSaheeh International
-
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا
ٱ ل نّ َهَارَ مَعَاشًۭا ١١WajaAAalna annaharamaAAasha
and make the day for livelihood?Ali Quli Qarai
And made the day for livelihoodSaheeh International
-
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَ
بْ عً ۭا ش ِدَادًۭا ١٢Wabanayna fawqakum sabAAan shidada
and build above you the seven mighty heavens?Ali Quli Qarai
And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]Saheeh International
-
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَا
جً ۭا و َهَّاجًۭا ١٣WajaAAalna sirajan wahhaja
and make [the sun for] a radiant lamp?Ali Quli Qarai
And made [therein] a burning lampSaheeh International
-
78:14
وَأَ
نز َلْنَا مِنَٱ لْمُعْصِرَٰ تِ مَا ٓءً ۭث َجَّاجًۭا ١٤Waanzalna mina almuAAsiratimaan thajjaja
and send down water pouring from the rain-clouds,Ali Quli Qarai
And sent down from the rain clouds pouring waterSaheeh International
-
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِه
ِۦ حَبًّ ۭا و َنَبَاتًۭا ١٥Linukhrija bihi habban wanabata
that We may bring forth with it grains and plants,Ali Quli Qarai
That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetationSaheeh International
-
78:16
وَجَ
نّ َٰ تٍ أَلْفَافًا ١٦Wajannatin alfafa
and luxuriant gardens?Ali Quli Qarai
And gardens of entwined growth.Saheeh International
-
78:17
إِ
نّ َ يَوْمَٱ لْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰ تًۭا ١٧Inna yawma alfasli kana meeqata
Indeed the Day of Judgement is the tryst,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -Saheeh International
-
78:18
يَوْمَ يُ
نف َخُ فِىٱ ل صُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًۭا ١٨Yawma yunfakhu fee assoorifata/toona afwaja
the day the Trumpet will be blown, and you will come in groups,Ali Quli Qarai
The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudesSaheeh International
-
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ
ٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْ وَٰ بًۭا ١٩Wafutihati assamao fakanatabwaba
and the sky will be opened and become gates,Ali Quli Qarai
And the heaven is opened and will become gatewaysSaheeh International
-
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ
ٱ لْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا ٢٠Wasuyyirati aljibalu fakanatsaraba
and the mountains will be set moving and become a mirage.Ali Quli Qarai
And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.Saheeh International
-
78:21
إِ
نّ َ جَهَنّ َمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًۭا ٢١Inna jahannama kanat mirsada
Indeed hell is in ambush,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, Hell has been lying in waitSaheeh International
-
78:22
لِّلطَّ
ٰ غِينَ مََٔابًۭا ٢٢Littagheena maaba
a resort for the rebels,Ali Quli Qarai
For the transgressors, a place of return,Saheeh International
-
78:23
لَّ
ٰ بِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًۭا ٢٣Labitheena feeha ahqaba
to reside therein for ages,Ali Quli Qarai
In which they will remain for ages [unending].Saheeh International
-
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْ
دً ۭا و َلَا شَرَابًا ٢٤La yathooqoona feehabardan wala sharaba
tasting in it neither any coolness nor drink,Ali Quli Qarai
They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink.Saheeh International
-
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِي
مً ۭا و َغَسَّاقًۭا ٢٥Illa hameeman waghassaqa
except boiling water and pus,Ali Quli Qarai
Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -Saheeh International
-
78:26
جَز
َا ٓءً ۭو ِفَاقًا ٢٦Jazaan wifaqa
a fitting requital.Ali Quli Qarai
An appropriate recompense.Saheeh International
-
78:27
إِ
نّ َهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًۭا ٢٧Innahum kanoo la yarjoona hisaba
Indeed they did not expect any reckoning,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, they were not expecting an accountSaheeh International
-
78:28
وَكَذَّبُو
ا۟ بَِٔايَٰ تِنَا كِذَّابًۭا ٢٨Wakaththaboo bi-ayatinakiththaba
and they denied Our signs mendaciously,Ali Quli Qarai
And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.Saheeh International
-
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَ
ٰ هُ كِتَٰ بًۭا ٢٩Wakulla shay-in ahsaynahu kitaba
and We have figured everything in a Book.Ali Quli Qarai
But all things We have enumerated in writing.Saheeh International
-
78:30
فَذُوقُو
ا۟ فَلَن ن َّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا ٣٠Fathooqoo falan nazeedakum illaAAathaba
So [now] taste! We shall increase you in nothing but punishment!Ali Quli Qarai
"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."Saheeh International
-
78:31
إِ
نّ َ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا ٣١Inna lilmuttaqeena mafaza
Indeed a triumph awaits the Godwary:Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, for the righteous is attainment -Saheeh International
-
78:32
حَد
َا ٓئِقَ وَأَعْنَٰ بًۭا ٣٢Hada-iqa waaAAnaba
gardens and vineyards,Ali Quli Qarai
Gardens and grapevinesSaheeh International
-
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًۭا ٣٣
WakawaAAiba atraba
and buxom maidens of a like age,Ali Quli Qarai
And young women [companions] of equal age.Saheeh International
-
78:34
وَكَأْ
سً ۭا د ِهَاقًۭا ٣٤Waka/san dihaqa
and brimming cups.Ali Quli Qarai
And a full cup.Saheeh International
-
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْ
وً ۭا و َلَا كِذَّٰ بًۭا ٣٥La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwanwala kiththaba
Therein they shall hear neither vain talk nor liesAli Quli Qarai
No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood -Saheeh International
-
78:36
جَز
َا ٓءً ۭم ِّن ر َّبِّكَ عَطَا ٓءً حِسَابًۭا ٣٦Jazaan min rabbika AAataan hisaba
—a reward and a sufficing bounty from your Lord,Ali Quli Qarai
[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,Saheeh International
-
78:37
رَّبِّ
ٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَاٱ ل رَّحْمَٰ نِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًۭا ٣٧Rabbi assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma arrahmani layamlikoona minhu khitaba
the All-beneficent, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. They will not be able to address HimAli Quli Qarai
[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.Saheeh International
-
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ
ٱ ل رُّوحُ وَٱ لْمَلَٰٓ ئِكَةُ صَفًّ ۭا ۖ ل َّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُٱ ل رَّحْمَٰ نُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًۭا ٣٨Yawma yaqoomu arroohu walmala-ikatusaffan la yatakallamoona illa man athinalahu arrahmanu waqala sawaba
on the day when the Spirit and the angels stand in an array: none shall speak except someone who is permitted by the All-beneficent and says what is rightful.Ali Quli Qarai
The Day that the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.Saheeh International

78:39
ذَ
ٰ لِكَٱ لْيَوْمُٱ لْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن ش َا ٓءَٱ تَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مََٔابًا ٣٩Thalika alyawmu alhaqqu famanshaa ittakhatha ila rabbihi maaba
That day is true for certain. So let anyone who wishes take resort with his Lord.Ali Quli Qarai
That is the True [i.e., certain] Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.Saheeh International

78:40
إِ
نّ َآ أَنذ َرْنَٰ كُمْ عَذَابً ۭا ق َرِيبً ۭا ي َوْمَ يَنظ ُرُٱ لْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُٱ لْكَافِرُ يَٰ لَيْتَنِى كُنت ُ تُرَٰ بًۢا ٤٠Inna antharnakum AAathabanqareeban yawma yanthuru almaro ma qaddamatyadahu wayaqoolu alkafiru ya laytanee kuntuturaba
Indeed We have warned you of a punishment near at hand—the day when a person will observe what his hands have sent ahead and the faithless one will say, ‘I wish I were dust!’Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, We have warned you of an impending punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"Saheeh International
