بِسْمِ
-
80:1
عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ١
AAabasa watawalla
He frowned and turned awayAli Quli Qarai
He [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ) ] frowned and turned awaySaheeh International
-
80:2
أَ
ن ج َا ٓءَهُٱ لْأَعْمَىٰ ٢An jaahu al-aAAma
when the blind man approached him.Ali Quli Qarai
Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].Saheeh International
-
80:3
وَمَا يُ
دْ رِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ ٣Wama yudreeka laAAallahu yazzakka
And how do you know, maybe he would purify himself,Ali Quli Qarai
But what would make you perceive, [O Muḥammad], that perhaps he might be purifiedSaheeh International
-
80:4
أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَ
نف َعَهُٱ ل ذِّكْرَىٰٓ ٤Aw yaththakkaru fatanfaAAahu aththikra
or take admonition, and the admonition would benefit him!Ali Quli Qarai
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?Saheeh International
-
80:5
أَ
مّ َا مَنِٱ سْتَغْنَىٰ ٥Amma mani istaghna
But as for someone who is wealthy,Ali Quli Qarai
As for he who thinks himself without need,Saheeh International
-
80:6
فَأَ
نت َ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ ٦Faanta lahu tasadda
you attend to him,Ali Quli Qarai
To him you give attention.Saheeh International
-
80:7
وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ ٧
Wama AAalayka alla yazzakka
though you are not liable if he does not purify himself.Ali Quli Qarai
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.Saheeh International
-
80:8
وَأَ
مّ َا مَن ج َا ٓءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ ٨Waamma man jaaka yasAAa
But as for someone who comes hurrying to you,Ali Quli Qarai
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]Saheeh International
-
80:9
وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ ٩
Wahuwa yakhsha
while he fears [Allah],Ali Quli Qarai
While he fears [Allāh],Saheeh International
-
80:10
فَأَ
نت َ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ ١٠Faanta AAanhu talahha
you are neglectful of him.Ali Quli Qarai
From him you are distracted.Saheeh International
-
80:11
كَلّ
َآ إِنّ َهَا تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ١١Kalla innaha tathkira
No indeed! These [verses of the Quran ] are a reminderAli Quli Qarai
No! Indeed, they [i.e., these verses] are a reminder;Saheeh International
-
80:12
فَمَ
ن ش َا ٓءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ١٢Faman shaa thakarah
—so let anyone who wishes remember—Ali Quli Qarai
So whoever wills may remember it.Saheeh International
-
80:13
فِى صُحُ
فٍ ۢم ُّكَرَّمَةٍۢ ١٣Fee suhufin mukarrama
in honoured scriptures,Ali Quli Qarai
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,Saheeh International
-
80:14
مَّرْفُوعَ
ةٍ ۢم ُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ ١٤MarfooAAatin mutahhara
exalted and purified,Ali Quli Qarai
Exalted and purified,Saheeh International
-
80:15
بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍۢ ١٥
Bi-aydee safara
in the hands of envoys,Ali Quli Qarai
[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,Saheeh International
-
80:16
كِرَا
مٍۭ ب َرَرَةٍۢ ١٦Kiramin barara
noble and pious.Ali Quli Qarai
Noble and dutiful.Saheeh International
-
80:17
قُتِلَ
ٱ لْإِنس َٰ نُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ ١٧Qutila al-insanu ma akfarah
Perish man! How ungrateful is he!Ali Quli Qarai
Destroyed [i.e., cursed] is man; how disbelieving is he.Saheeh International
-
80:18
مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ١٨
Min ayyi shay-in khalaqah
From what did He create him?Ali Quli Qarai
From what thing [i.e., substance] did He create him?Saheeh International
-
80:19
م
ِن ن ُّطْ فَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ ١٩Min nutfatin khalaqahu faqaddarah
He created him from a drop of [seminal] fluid; then proportioned him.Ali Quli Qarai
From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;Saheeh International
-
80:20
ثُ
مّ َٱ ل سَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ ٢٠Thumma assabeela yassarah
Then He made the way easy for him;Ali Quli Qarai
Then He eased the way for him;Saheeh International
-
80:21
ثُ
مّ َ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْ بَرَهُۥ ٢١Thumma amatahu faaqbarah
then He made him die and buried him;Ali Quli Qarai
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.Saheeh International
-
80:22
ثُ
مّ َ إِذَا شَا ٓءَ أَنش َرَهُۥ ٢٢Thumma itha shaa ansharah
and then, when He wished, resurrected him.Ali Quli Qarai
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.Saheeh International
-
80:23
كَلَّا لَ
مّ َا يَقْ ضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ ٢٣Kalla lamma yaqdi maamarah
No indeed! He has not yet carried out what He has commanded him.Ali Quli Qarai
No! He [i.e., man] has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.Saheeh International
-
80:24
فَلْيَ
نظ ُرِٱ لْإِنس َٰ نُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ٢٤Falyanthuri al-insanuila taAAamih
Let man consider his food:Ali Quli Qarai
Then let mankind look at his food -Saheeh International
-
80:25
اَ
نّ َا صَبَبْ نَاٱ لْمَا ٓءَ صَبًّۭا ٢٥Anna sababna almaasabba
We pour down plenteous water [from the sky],Ali Quli Qarai
How We poured down water in torrents,Saheeh International
-
80:26
ثُ
مّ َ شَقَقْ نَاٱ لْأَرْضَ شَقًّۭا ٢٦Thumma shaqaqna al-arda shaqqa
then We split the earth making fissures in itAli Quli Qarai
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],Saheeh International
-
80:27
فَأَ
نۢب َتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّۭا ٢٧Faanbatna feeha habba
and make the grain grow in it,Ali Quli Qarai
And caused to grow within it grainSaheeh International
-
80:28
وَعِنَ
بً ۭا و َقَضْبًۭا ٢٨WaAAinaban waqadba
as well as vines and vegetables,Ali Quli Qarai
And grapes and herbageSaheeh International
-
80:29
وَزَيْتُو
نً ۭا و َنَخْلًۭا ٢٩Wazaytoonan wanakhla
olives and date palms,Ali Quli Qarai
And olive and palm treesSaheeh International
-
80:30
وَحَد
َا ٓئِقَ غُلْبًۭا ٣٠Wahada-iqa ghulba
and densely-planted gardens,Ali Quli Qarai
And gardens of dense shrubberySaheeh International
-
80:31
وَفَ
ٰ كِهَةً ۭو َأَبًّۭا ٣١Wafakihatan waabba
fruits and pastures,Ali Quli Qarai
And fruit and grass -Saheeh International
-
80:32
مَّتَ
ٰ عً ۭا ل َّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰ مِكُمْ ٣٢MataAAan lakum wali-anAAamikum
as a sustenance for you and your livestock.Ali Quli Qarai
[As] enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.Saheeh International
-
80:33
فَإِذَا ج
َا ٓءَتِٱ ل صَّا ٓخَّةُ ٣٣Fa-itha jaati assakhkha
So when the deafening Cry comes—Ali Quli Qarai
But when there comes the Deafening BlastSaheeh International
-
80:34
يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ
ٱ لْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِي هِ ٣٤Yawma yafirru almaro min akheeh
the day when a man will evade his brother,Ali Quli Qarai
On the Day a man will flee from his brotherSaheeh International
-
80:35
وَأُ
مّ ِهِۦ وَأَبِي هِ ٣٥Waommihi waabeeh
his mother and his father,Ali Quli Qarai
And his mother and his fatherSaheeh International
-
80:36
وَصَ
ٰ حِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِي هِ ٣٦Wasahibatihi wabaneeh
his spouse and his sons—Ali Quli Qarai
And his wife and his children,Saheeh International
-
80:37
لِكُلِّ
ٱ مْرِئٍ ۢم ِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ۢش َأْنٌ ۭي ُغْنِي هِ ٣٧Likulli imri-in minhum yawma-ithinsha/nun yughneeh
each of them will have a task to keep him preoccupied on that day.Ali Quli Qarai
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.Saheeh International
-
80:38
وُجُو
هٌ ۭي َوْمَئِذٍ ۢم ُّسْفِرَةٌۭ ٣٨Wujoohun yawma-ithin musfira
Some faces will be bright on that day,Ali Quli Qarai
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -Saheeh International
-
80:39
ضَاحِكَ
ةٌ ۭم ُّسْتَبْ شِرَةٌۭ ٣٩Dahikatun mustabshira
laughing and joyous,Ali Quli Qarai
Laughing, rejoicing at good news.Saheeh International
-
80:40
وَوُجُو
هٌ ۭي َوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌۭ ٤٠Wawujoohun yawma-ithin AAalayhaghabara
and some faces on that day will be covered with dust,Ali Quli Qarai
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.Saheeh International
-
80:41
تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ٤١
Tarhaquha qatara
overcast with gloom.Ali Quli Qarai
Blackness will cover them.Saheeh International
-
80:42
أُ
و۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ هُمُٱ لْكَفَرَةُٱ لْفَجَرَةُ ٤٢Ola-ika humu alkafaratu alfajara
It is they who are the faithless, the vicious.Ali Quli Qarai
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.Saheeh International
