At-Takwir · The Overthrowing

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 81:1

   إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ ۝١

   QaraiWhen the sun is wound up,

2. 81:2

   وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ ۝٢

   Qaraiwhen the stars scatter,

3. 81:3

   وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ ۝٣

   Qaraiwhen the mountains are set moving,

4. 81:4

   وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ ۝٤

   Qaraiwhen the pregnant camels are neglected,

5. 81:5

   وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ ۝٥

   Qaraiwhen the wild beasts are mustered,

6. 81:6

   وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ ۝٦

   Qaraiwhen the seas are set afire,

7. 81:7

   وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ ۝٧

   Qaraiwhen the souls are assorted,

8. 81:8

   وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ ۝٨

   Qaraiwhen the girl buried-alive will be asked

9. 81:9

   بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ ۝٩

   Qaraifor what sin she was killed.

10. 81:10

    وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ ۝١٠

    QaraiWhen the records [of deeds] are unfolded,

11. 81:11

    وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ ۝١١

    Qaraiwhen the sky is stripped off,

12. 81:12

    وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ ۝١٢

    Qaraiwhen hell is set ablaze,

13. 81:13

    وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ ۝١٣

    Qaraiwhen paradise is brought near,

14. 81:14

    عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ ۝١٤

    Qaraithen a soul shall know what it has readied [for itself].

15. 81:15

    فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ ۝١٥

    QaraiSo I swear by the stars that return,

16. 81:16

    ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ ۝١٦

    Qaraithe comets,

17. 81:17

    وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ ۝١٧

    Qaraiby the night as it approaches,

18. 81:18

    وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ ۝١٨

    Qaraiby the dawn as it breathes:

19. 81:19

    إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ ۝١٩

    Qaraiit is indeed the speech of a noble apostle,

20. 81:20

    ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ ۝٢٠

    Qaraipowerful and eminent with the Lord of the Throne,

21. 81:21

    مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ ۝٢١

    Qaraione who is obeyed and is trustworthy as well.

22. 81:22

    وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ ۝٢٢

    QaraiYour companion is not crazy:

23. 81:23

    وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ۝٢٣

    Qaraicertainly he saw him on the manifest horizon,

24. 81:24

    وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ ۝٢٤

    Qaraiand he is not miserly concerning the Unseen.

25. 81:25

    وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ ۝٢٥

    QaraiAnd it is not the speech of an outcast Satan.

26. 81:26

    فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ ۝٢٦

    QaraiSo where are you going?

27. 81:27

    إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ۝٢٧

    QaraiIt is just a reminder for all the nations,

28. 81:28

    لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ ۝٢٨

    Qaraifor those of you who wish to walk straight;

29. 81:29

    وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ۝٢٩

    Qaraibut you will not wish unless it is wished by Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
