بِسْمِ
-
83:1
وَيْ
لٌ ۭل ِّلْمُطَفِّفِي نَ ١Waylun lilmutaffifeen
Woe to the defrauders, who use short measures,Ali Quli Qarai
Woe to those who give less [than due],Saheeh International
-
83:2
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا
ٱ كْتَالُوا۟ عَلَىٱ ل نّ َاسِ يَسْتَوْفُو نَ ٢Allatheena itha iktalooAAala annasi yastawfoon
who, when they measure [a commodity bought] from the people, take the full measure,Ali Quli Qarai
Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.Saheeh International
-
83:3
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِر
ُو نَ ٣Wa-itha kaloohum aw wazanoohumyukhsiroon
but diminish when they measure or weigh for them.Ali Quli Qarai
But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.Saheeh International
-
83:4
أَلَا يَظُ
نّ ُ أُو۟ لَٰٓ ئِكَ أَنّ َهُم م َّبْ عُوثُو نَ ٤Ala yathunnu ola-ikaannahum mabAAoothoon
Do they not know that they will be resurrectedAli Quli Qarai
Do they not think that they will be resurrectedSaheeh International
-
83:5
لِيَوْمٍ عَظ
ِي مٍۢ ٥Liyawmin AAatheem
on a tremendous day,Ali Quli Qarai
For a tremendous Day -Saheeh International
-
83:6
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ
ٱ ل نّ َاسُ لِرَبِّٱ لْعَٰ لَمِي نَ ٦Yawma yaqoomu annasu lirabbialAAalameen
a day when mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds?Ali Quli Qarai
The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?Saheeh International
-
83:7
كَلّ
َآ إِنّ َ كِتَٰ بَٱ لْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّي نٍۢ ٧Kalla inna kitaba alfujjarilafee sijjeen
Indeed, the record of the vicious is in Sijjeen.Ali Quli Qarai
No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.Saheeh International
-
83:8
وَم
َآ أَدْ رَىٰ كَ مَا سِجِّي نٌۭ ٨Wama adraka ma sijjeen
And what will show you what is Sijjeen?Ali Quli Qarai
And what can make you know what is sijjeen?Saheeh International
-
83:9
كِتَ
ٰ بٌ ۭم َّرْقُو مٌۭ ٩Kitabun marqoom
It is a written record.Ali Quli Qarai
It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed.Saheeh International
-
83:10
وَيْ
لٌ ۭي َوْمَئِذٍ ۢل ِّلْمُكَذِّبِي نَ ١٠Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe to the deniers on that day,Ali Quli Qarai
Woe, that Day, to the deniers,Saheeh International
-
83:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ
ٱ ل دِّي نِ ١١Allatheena yukaththiboonabiyawmi addeen
who deny the Day of Retribution;Ali Quli Qarai
Who deny the Day of Recompense.Saheeh International
-
83:12
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِه
ِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِي مٍ ١٢Wama yukaththibu bihi illakullu muAAtadin atheem
and none denies it except every sinful transgressor.Ali Quli Qarai
And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.Saheeh International
-
83:13
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَ
ٰ تُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰ طِيرُٱ لْأَوَّلِي نَ ١٣Itha tutla AAalayhi ayatunaqala asateeru al-awwaleen
When Our signs are recited to him, he says, ‘Myths of the ancients!’Ali Quli Qarai
When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."Saheeh International
-
83:14
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِه
ِم م َّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُو نَ ١٤Kalla bal rana AAalaquloobihim ma kanoo yaksiboon
No, that is not the case! Rather, their hearts have been sullied by what they have been earning.Ali Quli Qarai
No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.Saheeh International
-
83:15
كَلّ
َآ إِنّ َهُمْ عَن ر َّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ۢل َّمَحْجُوبُو نَ ١٥Kalla innahum AAan rabbihim yawma-ithinlamahjooboon
Indeed, they will be alienated from their Lord on that day.Ali Quli Qarai
No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.Saheeh International
-
83:16
ثُ
مّ َ إِنّ َهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱ لْجَحِي مِ ١٦Thumma innahum lasaloo aljaheem
Afterward they will enter hell,Ali Quli Qarai
Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.Saheeh International
-
83:17
ثُ
مّ َ يُقَالُ هَٰ ذَاٱ لَّذِى كُنت ُم ب ِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُو نَ ١٧Thumma yuqalu hatha allatheekuntum bihi tukaththiboon
then told, ‘This is what you used to deny!’Ali Quli Qarai
Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."Saheeh International
-
83:18
كَلّ
َآ إِنّ َ كِتَٰ بَٱ لْأَبْ رَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّي نَ ١٨Kalla inna kitaba al-abrarilafee AAilliyyeen
Indeed, the record of the pious is in Illeeyun.Ali Quli Qarai
No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in ʿilliyyūn.Saheeh International
-
83:19
وَم
َآ أَدْ رَىٰ كَ مَا عِلِّيُّو نَ ١٩Wama adraka maAAilliyyoon
And what will show you what is Illeeyun?Ali Quli Qarai
And what can make you know what is ʿilliyyūn?Saheeh International
-
83:20
كِتَ
ٰ بٌ ۭم َّرْقُو مٌۭ ٢٠Kitabun marqoom
It is a written record,Ali Quli Qarai
It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribedSaheeh International
-
83:21
يَشْهَدُهُ
ٱ لْمُقَرَّبُو نَ ٢١Yashhaduhu almuqarraboon
witnessed by those brought near [to Allah].Ali Quli Qarai
Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allāh].Saheeh International
-
83:22
إِ
نّ َٱ لْأَبْ رَارَ لَفِى نَعِي مٍ ٢٢Inna al-abrara lafee naAAeem
The pious shall be amid bliss,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasureSaheeh International
-
83:23
عَلَى
ٱ لْأَرَا ٓئِكِ يَنظ ُرُو نَ ٢٣AAala al-ara-iki yanthuroon
observing, [as they recline] on couches.Ali Quli Qarai
On adorned couches, observing.Saheeh International
-
83:24
تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ
ٱ ل نّ َعِي مِ ٢٤TaAArifu fee wujoohihim nadrata annaAAeem
You will perceive in their faces the freshness of bliss.Ali Quli Qarai
You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.Saheeh International

83:25
يُسْقَوْنَ م
ِن ر َّحِيقٍ ۢم َّخْتُو مٍ ٢٥Yusqawna min raheeqin makhtoom
They will be served with a sealed pure wine,Ali Quli Qarai
They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed.Saheeh International
-
83:26
خِتَ
ٰ مُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۭۚ و َفِى ذَٰ لِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِٱ لْمُتَنَٰ فِسُو نَ ٢٦Khitamuhu miskun wafee thalikafalyatanafasi almutanafisoon
whose seal is musk—for such let the viers vie—Ali Quli Qarai
The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.Saheeh International

83:27
وَمِزَاجُهُ
ۥ مِن ت َسْنِي مٍ ٢٧Wamizajuhu min tasneem
and whose seasoning is from Tasneem,Ali Quli Qarai
And its mixture is of Tasneem,Saheeh International
-
83:28
عَيْ
نً ۭا ي َشْرَبُ بِهَاٱ لْمُقَرَّبُو نَ ٢٨AAaynan yashrabu biha almuqarraboon
a spring where those brought near [to Allah] drink.Ali Quli Qarai
A spring from which those near [to Allāh] drink.Saheeh International
-
83:29
إِ
نّ َٱ لَّذِينَ أَجْ رَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُو نَ ٢٩Inna allatheena ajramoo kanoomina allatheena amanoo yadhakoon
Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the faithful,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.Saheeh International
-
83:30
وَإِذَا مَرُّو
ا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُو نَ ٣٠Wa-itha marroo bihim yataghamazoon
and when they passed them by they would wink at each other,Ali Quli Qarai
And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.Saheeh International
-
83:31
وَإِذَا
ٱ نق َلَبُوٓ ا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُٱ نق َلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِي نَ ٣١Wa-itha inqalaboo ila ahlihimuinqalaboo fakiheen
and when they returned to their folks they would return amused,Ali Quli Qarai
And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.Saheeh International
-
83:32
وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَال
ُوٓ ا۟ إِنّ َ هَٰٓ ؤُلَا ٓءِ لَضَا ٓلُّو نَ ٣٢Wa-itha raawhum qaloo inna haola-iladalloon
and when they saw them they would say, ‘Indeed those are the astray!’Ali Quli Qarai
And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."Saheeh International
-
83:33
وَم
َآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَٰ فِظِي نَ ٣٣Wama orsiloo AAalayhim hafitheen
Though they were not sent to watch over them.Ali Quli Qarai
But they had not been sent as guardians over them.Saheeh International
-
83:34
فَ
ٱ لْيَوْمَٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَٱ لْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُو نَ ٣٤Falyawma allatheena amanoomina alkuffari yadhakoon
So today the faithful will laugh at the faithless,Ali Quli Qarai
So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,Saheeh International
-
83:35
عَلَى
ٱ لْأَرَا ٓئِكِ يَنظ ُرُو نَ ٣٥AAala al-ara-iki yanthuroon
observing from their couches:Ali Quli Qarai
On adorned couches, observing.Saheeh International
-
83:36
هَلْ ثُوِّبَ
ٱ لْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُو نَ ٣٦Hal thuwwiba alkuffaru ma kanooyafAAaloon
Have the faithless been requited for what they used to do?Ali Quli Qarai
Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?Saheeh International
