Al-Buruj · The Mansions of the Stars

22 verses · Revealed in Makkah

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 85:1

   وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ ۝١

   QaraiBy the heaven with its Houses,

2. 85:2

   وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ ۝٢

   Qaraiby the Promised Day,

3. 85:3

   وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ ۝٣

   Qaraiby the Witness and the Witnessed:

4. 85:4

   قُتِلَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ ۝٤

   Qaraiperish the People of the Ditch!

5. 85:5

   ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ ۝٥

   QaraiThe fire abounding in fuel,

6. 85:6

   إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ ۝٦

   Qaraiabove which they sat

7. 85:7

   وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ ۝٧

   Qaraias they were themselves witnesses to what they did to the faithful.

8. 85:8

   وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ ۝٨

   QaraiThey were vindictive towards them only because they had faith in Allah, the All-mighty and the All-laudable,

9. 85:9

   ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ ۝٩

   Qaraito whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is witness to all things.

10. 85:10

    إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ ۝١٠

    QaraiIndeed those who persecute the faithful, men and women, and do not repent thereafter, there is the punishment of hell for them and the punishment of burning.

11. 85:11

    إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ ۝١١

    QaraiIndeed those who have faith and do righteous deeds—for them will be gardens with streams running in them. That is the supreme success.

12. 85:12

    إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ ۝١٢

    QaraiIndeed your Lord’s striking is severe.

13. 85:13

    إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ ۝١٣

    QaraiIt is indeed He who originates and brings back,

14. 85:14

    وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ ۝١٤

    Qaraiand He is the All-forgiving, the All-affectionate,

15. 85:15

    ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ ۝١٥

    QaraiLord of the Throne, the All-glorious,

16. 85:16

    فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ ۝١٦

    Qaraidoer of what He desires.

17. 85:17

    هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ ۝١٧

    QaraiDid you receive the story of the hosts

18. 85:18

    فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ ۝١٨

    Qaraiof Pharaoh and Thamud?

19. 85:19

    بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ ۝١٩

    QaraiIndeed the faithless dwell in denial,

20. 85:20

    وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ ۝٢٠

    Qaraiand Allah besieges them from all around.

21. 85:21

    بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ ۝٢١

    QaraiIndeed it is a glorious Quran,

22. 85:22

    فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ ۝٢٢

    Qaraiin a preserved tablet.
