بِسْمِ
-
85:1
وَ
ٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ ذَاتِٱ لْبُرُو ج ِ ١Wassama-i thatialburooj
By the heaven with its Houses,Ali Quli Qarai
By the sky containing great starsSaheeh International
-
85:2
وَ
ٱ لْيَوْمِٱ لْمَوْعُو د ِ ٢Walyawmi almawAAood
by the Promised Day,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the promised DaySaheeh International
-
85:3
وَشَاهِ
دٍ ۢو َمَشْهُو د ٍۢ ٣Washahidin wamashhood
by the Witness and the Witnessed:Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,Saheeh International
-
85:4
قُتِلَ أَصْحَ
ٰ بُٱ لْأُخْدُو د ِ ٤Qutila as-habu alukhdood
perish the People of the Ditch!Ali Quli Qarai
Destroyed [i.e., cursed] were the companions of the trenchSaheeh International
-
85:5
ٱ
ل نّ َارِ ذَاتِٱ لْوَقُو د ِ ٥Annari thati alwaqood
The fire abounding in fuel,Ali Quli Qarai
[Containing] the fire full of fuel,Saheeh International
-
85:6
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُع
ُو د ٌۭ ٦Ith hum AAalayha quAAood
above which they satAli Quli Qarai
When they were sitting near it.Saheeh International
-
85:7
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِ
ٱ لْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُو د ٌۭ ٧Wahum AAala ma yafAAaloona bilmu/mineenashuhood
as they were themselves witnesses to what they did to the faithful.Ali Quli Qarai
And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.Saheeh International
-
85:8
وَمَا نَقَمُو
ا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن ي ُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱ للَّهِٱ لْعَزِيزِٱ لْحَمِي د ِ ٨Wama naqamoo minhum illa anyu/minoo billahi alAAazeezi alhameed
They were vindictive towards them only because they had faith in Allah, the All-mighty and the All-laudable,Ali Quli Qarai
And they resented them not except because they believed in Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,Saheeh International
-
85:9
ٱلَّذِى لَهُ
ۥ مُلْكُٱ ل سَّمَٰ وَٰ تِ وَٱ لْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱ للَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۢش َهِي د ٌ ٩Allathee lahu mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wallahu AAala kullishay-in shaheed
to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is witness to all things.Ali Quli Qarai
To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allāh, over all things, is Witness.Saheeh International

85:10
إِ
نّ َٱ لَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱ لْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱ لْمُؤْمِنَٰ تِ ثُمّ َ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنّ َمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُٱ لْحَرِي ق ِ ١٠Inna allatheena fatanoo almu/mineenawalmu/minati thumma lam yatooboo falahum AAathabujahannama walahum AAathabu alhareeq
Indeed those who persecute the faithful, men and women, and do not repent thereafter, there is the punishment of hell for them and the punishment of burning.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.Saheeh International

85:11
إِ
نّ َٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱ ل صَّٰ لِحَٰ تِ لَهُمْ جَنّ َٰ تٌ ۭت َجْ رِى مِن ت َحْتِهَاٱ لْأَنْهَٰ رُ ۚ ذَٰ لِكَٱ لْفَوْزُٱ لْكَبِي رُ ١١Inna allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati lahum jannatuntajree min tahtiha al-anharu thalikaalfawzu alkabeer
Indeed those who have faith and do righteous deeds—for them will be gardens with streams running in them. That is the supreme success.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.Saheeh International

85:12
إِ
نّ َ بَطْ شَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِي د ٌ ١٢Inna batsha rabbika lashadeed
Indeed your Lord’s striking is severe.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, the assault [i.e., vengeance] of your Lord is severe.Saheeh International
-
85:13
إِ
نّ َهُۥ هُوَ يُبْ دِئُ وَيُعِي د ُ ١٣Innahu huwa yubdi-o wayuAAeed
It is indeed He who originates and brings back,Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.Saheeh International
-
85:14
وَهُوَ
ٱ لْغَفُورُٱ لْوَدُو د ُ ١٤Wahuwa alghafooru alwadood
and He is the All-forgiving, the All-affectionate,Ali Quli Qarai
And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,Saheeh International
-
85:15
ذُو
ٱ لْعَرْشِٱ لْمَجِي د ُ ١٥Thoo alAAarshi almajeed
Lord of the Throne, the All-glorious,Ali Quli Qarai
Honorable Owner of the Throne,Saheeh International
-
85:16
فَعَّا
لٌ ۭل ِّمَا يُرِي د ُ ١٦FaAAAAalun lima yureed
doer of what He desires.Ali Quli Qarai
Effecter of what He intends.Saheeh International
-
85:17
هَلْ أَتَى
ٰ كَ حَدِيثُٱ لْجُنُو د ِ ١٧Hal ataka hadeethu aljunood
Did you receive the story of the hostsAli Quli Qarai
Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -Saheeh International
-
85:18
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَم
ُو د َ ١٨FirAAawna wathamood
of Pharaoh and Thamud?Ali Quli Qarai
[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamūd?Saheeh International
-
85:19
بَلِ
ٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِي ب ٍۢ ١٩Bali allatheena kafaroo fee taktheeb
Indeed the faithless dwell in denial,Ali Quli Qarai
But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,Saheeh International
-
85:20
وَ
ٱ للَّهُ مِن و َرَا ٓئِهِم م ُّحِي ط ٌۢ ٢٠Wallahu min wara-ihimmuheet
and Allah besieges them from all around.Ali Quli Qarai
While Allāh encompasses them from behind.Saheeh International
-
85:21
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَا
نٌ ۭم َّجِي د ٌۭ ٢١Bal huwa qur-anun majeed
Indeed it is a glorious Quran,Ali Quli Qarai
But this is an honored Qur’ānSaheeh International
-
85:22
فِى لَوْ
حٍ ۢم َّحْفُو ظٍۭ ٢٢Fee lawhin mahfooth
in a preserved tablet.Ali Quli Qarai
[Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.Saheeh International
