Al-A'la · The Most High
19 verses · Revealed in Makkah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
87:1
سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى ١
Sabbihi isma rabbika al-aAAla
QaraiCelebrate the Name of your Lord, the Most Exalted,
Saheeh InternationalExalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,
-
87:2
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ٢
Allathee khalaqa fasawwa
Qaraiwho created and proportioned,
Saheeh InternationalWho created and proportioned
-
87:3
وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ ٣
Wallathee qaddara fahada
Qaraiwho determined and guided,
Saheeh InternationalAnd who destined and [then] guided
-
87:4
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ ٤
Wallathee akhraja almarAAa
Qaraiwho brought forth the pasture
Saheeh InternationalAnd who brings out the pasture
-
87:5
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ ٥
FajaAAalahu ghuthaan ahwa
Qaraiand then turned it into a black scum.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [then] makes it black stubble.
-
87:6
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ ٦
Sanuqri-oka fala tansa
QaraiWe shall have you recite [the Quran], then you will not forget [any of it]
Saheeh InternationalWe will make you recite, [O Muḥammad], and you will not forget,
-
87:7
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ ٧
Illa ma shaa Allahuinnahu yaAAlamu aljahra wama yakhfa
Qaraiexcept what Allah may wish. Indeed, He knows the open and what is hidden.
Saheeh InternationalExcept what Allāh should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.
-
87:8
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ٨
Wanuyassiruka lilyusra
QaraiAnd We shall ease you into facility.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We will ease you toward ease.
-
87:9
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ ٩
Fathakkir in nafaAAati aththikra
QaraiSo admonish, for admonition is indeed beneficial:
Saheeh InternationalSo remind, if the reminder should benefit;
-
87:10
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ ١٠
Sayaththakkaru man yakhsha
Qaraihe who fears [God] will take admonition,
Saheeh InternationalHe who fears [Allāh] will be reminded.
-
87:11
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى ١١
Wayatajannabuha al-ashqa
Qaraiand the most wretched will shun it
Saheeh InternationalBut the wretched one will avoid it –
-
87:12
ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ١٢
Allathee yasla annaraalkubra
Qarai—he who will enter the Great Fire,
Saheeh International[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,
-
87:13
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ ١٣
Thumma la yamootu feeha walayahya
Qaraithen he will neither live in it, nor die.
Saheeh InternationalNeither dying therein nor living.
-
87:14
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ ١٤
Qad aflaha man tazakka
Qarai‘Felicitous is he who purifies himself,
Saheeh InternationalHe has certainly succeeded who purifies himself
-
87:15
وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ ١٥
Wathakara isma rabbihi fasalla
Qaraicelebrates the Name of his Lord, and prays.
Saheeh InternationalAnd mentions the name of his Lord and prays.
-
87:16
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ١٦
Bal tu/thiroona alhayata addunya
QaraiBut you prefer the life of this world,
Saheeh InternationalBut you prefer the worldly life,
-
87:17
وَٱلَْٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ١٧
Wal-akhiratu khayrun waabqa
Qaraiwhile the Hereafter is better and more lasting.’
Saheeh InternationalWhile the Hereafter is better and more enduring.
-
87:18
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ١٨
Inna hatha lafee assuhufial-oola
QaraiThis is indeed in the former scriptures,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, this is in the former scriptures,
-
87:19
صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ ١٩
Suhufi ibraheema wamoosa
Qaraithe scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
Saheeh InternationalThe scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
