Al-Ghashiyah · The Overwhelming

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 88:1

   هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ ۝١

   QaraiDid you receive the account of the Enveloper?

2. 88:2

   وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ ۝٢

   QaraiSome faces on that day will be humbled,

3. 88:3

   عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ۝٣

   Qaraiwrought-up and weary:

4. 88:4

   تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً ۝٤

   Qaraithey will enter a scorching fire

5. 88:5

   تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ ۝٥

   Qaraiand made to drink from a boiling spring.

6. 88:6

   لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ ۝٦

   QaraiThey will have no food except cactus,

7. 88:7

   لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ ۝٧

   Qaraineither nourishing, nor of avail against hunger.

8. 88:8

   وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ۝٨

   QaraiSome faces on that day will be joyous,

9. 88:9

   لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ۝٩

   Qaraipleased with their endeavour,

10. 88:10

    فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ۝١٠

    Qaraiin a lofty garden,

11. 88:11

    لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةً ۝١١

    Qaraiwhere they will not hear any vain talk.

12. 88:12

    فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ ۝١٢

    QaraiIn it is a flowing spring

13. 88:13

    فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ ۝١٣

    Qaraiand raised couches,

14. 88:14

    وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ ۝١٤

    Qaraiwith goblets set,

15. 88:15

    وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ۝١٥

    Qaraiand cushions laid out in an array,

16. 88:16

    وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ۝١٦

    Qaraiand carpets spread out.

17. 88:17

    أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ ۝١٧

    QaraiDo they not observe the camel, [to see] how it has been created?

18. 88:18

    وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ ۝١٨

    Qaraiand the sky, how it has been raised?

19. 88:19

    وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ ۝١٩

    Qaraiand the mountains, how they have been set?

20. 88:20

    وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ ۝٢٠

    Qaraiand the earth, how it has been surfaced?

21. 88:21

    فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ۝٢١

    QaraiSo admonish—for you are only an admonisher,

22. 88:22

    لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ ۝٢٢

    Qaraiand not a taskmaster over them—

23. 88:23

    إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ۝٢٣

    Qaraiexcept him who turns back and disbelieves.

24. 88:24

    فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ ۝٢٤

    QaraiHim Allah will punish with the greatest punishment.

25. 88:25

    إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ ۝٢٥

    QaraiIndeed to Us will be their return.

26. 88:26

    ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم ۝٢٦

    QaraiThen, indeed, their reckoning will lie with Us.
