بِسْمِ
-
89:1
وَ
ٱ لْفَجْ رِ ١Walfajr
By the Dawn,Ali Quli Qarai
By the dawnSaheeh International
-
89:2
وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍۢ ٢
Walayalin AAashr
by the ten nights,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] ten nightsSaheeh International
-
89:3
وَ
ٱ ل شَّفْعِ وَٱ لْوَتْرِ ٣WashshafAAi walwatr
by the Even and the Odd,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the even [number] and the oddSaheeh International
-
89:4
وَ
ٱ لَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ ٤Wallayli itha yasr
by the night when it departs!Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the night when it passes,Saheeh International
-
89:5
هَلْ فِى ذَ
ٰ لِكَ قَسَمٌ ۭل ِّذِى حِجْ رٍ ٥Hal fee thalika qasamun lithee hijr
Is there an oath in that for one possessing intellect?Ali Quli Qarai
Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?Saheeh International
-
89:6
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِع
َا د ٍ ٦Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka biAAad
Have you not regarded how your Lord dealt with [the people of] ‘Ad,Ali Quli Qarai
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ʿAad -Saheeh International
-
89:7
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ
ٱ لْعِمَا د ِ ٧Irama thati alAAimad
[and] Iram, [the city] of the pillars,Ali Quli Qarai
[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,Saheeh International
-
89:8
ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَ
قْ مِثْلُهَا فِىٱ لْبِلَٰ د ِ ٨Allatee lam yukhlaq mithluha fee albilad
the like of which was not created among cities,Ali Quli Qarai
The likes of whom had never been created in the land?Saheeh International
-
89:9
وَثَمُودَ
ٱ لَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱ ل صَّخْرَ بِٱ لْوَا د ِ ٩Wathamooda allatheena jaboo assakhrabilwad
and [the people of] Thamud, who hollowed out the rocks in the valley,Ali Quli Qarai
And [with] Thamūd, who carved out the rocks in the valley?Saheeh International
-
89:10
وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى
ٱ لْأَوْتَا د ِ ١٠WafirAAawna thee al-awtad
and Pharaoh, the impalerAli Quli Qarai
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes?Saheeh International
-
89:11
ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْ
ا۟ فِىٱ لْبِلَٰ د ِ ١١Allatheena taghaw fee albilad
—those who rebelled [against Allah] in their citiesAli Quli Qarai
[All of] whom oppressed within the landsSaheeh International
-
89:12
فَأَكْثَرُو
ا۟ فِيهَاٱ لْفَسَا د َ ١٢Faaktharoo feeha alfasad
and caused much corruption in them,Ali Quli Qarai
And increased therein the corruption.Saheeh International
-
89:13
فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذ
َا ب ٍ ١٣Fasabba AAalayhim rabbuka sawtaAAathab
so your Lord poured on them lashes of punishment.Ali Quli Qarai
So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.Saheeh International
-
89:14
إِ
نّ َ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱ لْمِرْصَا د ِ ١٤Inna rabbaka labilmirsad
Indeed your Lord is in ambush.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.Saheeh International
-
89:15
فَأَ
مّ َاٱ لْإِنس َٰ نُ إِذَا مَاٱ بْ تَلَىٰ هُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ ١٥Faamma al-insanu itha maibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbeeakraman
As for man, whenever his Lord tests him, and grants him honour, and blesses him, he says, ‘My Lord has honoured me.’Ali Quli Qarai
And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."Saheeh International
-
89:16
وَأَ
مّ َآ إِذَا مَاٱ بْ تَلَىٰ هُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَٰ نَنِ ١٦Waamma itha ma ibtalahufaqadara AAalayhi rizqahu fayaqoolu rabbee ahanan
But when He tests him and tightens for him his provision, he says, ‘My Lord has humiliated me.’Ali Quli Qarai
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."Saheeh International
-
89:17
كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ
ٱ لْيَتِي مَ ١٧Kalla bal la tukrimoonaalyateem
No indeed! No, you do not honour the orphan,Ali Quli Qarai
No! But you do not honor the orphanSaheeh International
-
89:18
وَلَا تَحَ
ٰٓ ضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِٱ لْمِسْكِي نِ ١٨Wala tahaddoona AAala taAAamialmiskeen
and do not urge the feeding of the needy.Ali Quli Qarai
And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.Saheeh International
-
89:19
وَتَأْكُلُونَ
ٱ ل تُّرَاثَ أَكْلً ۭال َّمّ ًۭا ١٩Wata/kuloona atturatha aklanlamma
You eat the inheritance rapaciously,Ali Quli Qarai
And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,Saheeh International
-
89:20
وَتُحِبُّونَ
ٱ لْمَالَ حُبًّ ۭا ج َمّ ًۭا ٢٠Watuhibboona almala hubbanjamma
and love wealth with much fondness.Ali Quli Qarai
And you love wealth with immense love.Saheeh International
-
89:21
كَلّ
َآ إِذَا دُكَّتِٱ لْأَرْضُ دَكًّ ۭا د َكًّۭا ٢١Kalla itha dukkati al-ardudakkan dakka
No indeed! When the earth is levelled to a plain,Ali Quli Qarai
No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushedSaheeh International
-
89:22
وَج
َا ٓءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱ لْمَلَكُ صَفًّ ۭا ص َفًّۭا ٢٢Wajaa rabbuka walmalaku saffansaffa
and your Lord [’s edict] arrives with the angels in ranks,Ali Quli Qarai
And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,Saheeh International
-
89:23
وَجِ
ا۟ ىٓ ءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ ب ِجَهَنّ َمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ ۢي َتَذَكَّرُٱ لْإِنس َٰ نُ وَأَنّ َىٰ لَهُٱ ل ذِّكْرَىٰ ٢٣Wajee-a yawma-ithin bijahannamayawma-ithin yatathakkaru al-insanu waannalahu aththikra
the day when hell is brought [near], man will take admonition on that day, but what will that admonition avail him?Ali Quli Qarai
And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but how [i.e., what good] to him will be the remembrance?Saheeh International
-
89:24
يَقُولُ يَ
ٰ لَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى ٢٤Yaqoolu ya laytanee qaddamtu lihayatee
He will say, ‘Alas, had I sent ahead for my life [in the Hereafter]!’Ali Quli Qarai
He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."Saheeh International
-
89:25
فَيَوْمَئِ
ذٍ ۢل َّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَد ٌۭ ٢٥Fayawma-ithin la yuAAaththibuAAathabahu ahad
On that day none shall punish as He punishes,Ali Quli Qarai
So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,Saheeh International
-
89:26
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ
ۥٓ أَحَد ٌۭ ٢٦Wala yoothiqu wathaqahu ahad
and none shall bind as He binds.Ali Quli Qarai
And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].Saheeh International
-
89:27
يَ
ٰٓ أَيَّتُهَاٱ ل نّ َفْسُٱ لْمُطْ مَئِنّ َةُ ٢٧Ya ayyatuha annafsualmutma-inna
‘O soul at peace!Ali Quli Qarai
[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,Saheeh International
-
89:28
ٱرْجِع
ِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً ۭم َّرْضِيَّةًۭ ٢٨IrjiAAee ila rabbiki radiyatanmardiyya
Return to your Lord, pleased and pleasing!Ali Quli Qarai
Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],Saheeh International
-
89:29
فَ
ٱ دْ خُلِى فِى عِبَٰ دِى ٢٩Fadkhulee fee AAibadee
Then enter among My servants,Ali Quli Qarai
And enter among My [righteous] servantsSaheeh International
-
89:30
وَ
ٱ دْ خُلِى جَنّ َتِى ٣٠Wadkhulee jannatee
and enter My paradise!’Ali Quli Qarai
And enter My Paradise."Saheeh International
