بِسْمِ
-
88:1
هَلْ أَتَى
ٰ كَ حَدِيثُٱ لْغَٰ شِيَةِ ١Hal ataka hadeethu alghashiyat
Did you receive the account of the Enveloper?Ali Quli Qarai
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?Saheeh International
-
88:2
وُجُو
هٌ ۭي َوْمَئِذٍ خَٰ شِعَةٌ ٢Wujoohun yawma-ithin khashiAAa
Some faces on that day will be humbled,Ali Quli Qarai
[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,Saheeh International
-
88:3
عَامِلَ
ةٌ ۭن َّاصِبَةٌۭ ٣AAamilatun nasiba
wrought-up and weary:Ali Quli Qarai
Working [hard] and exhausted.Saheeh International
-
88:4
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةًۭ ٤
Tasla naran hamiya
they will enter a scorching fireAli Quli Qarai
They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.Saheeh International
-
88:5
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍۢ ٥
Tusqa min AAaynin aniya
and made to drink from a boiling spring.Ali Quli Qarai
They will be given drink from a boiling spring.Saheeh International
-
88:6
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِ
ن ض َرِي عٍۢ ٦Laysa lahum taAAamun illamin dareeAA
They will have no food except cactus,Ali Quli Qarai
For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plantSaheeh International
-
88:7
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِ
ن ج ُو عٍۢ ٧La yusminu wala yughnee minjooAA
neither nourishing, nor of avail against hunger.Ali Quli Qarai
Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.Saheeh International
-
88:8
وُجُو
هٌ ۭي َوْمَئِذٍ ۢن َّاعِمَةٌۭ ٨Wujoohun yawma-ithin naAAima
Some faces on that day will be joyous,Ali Quli Qarai
[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.Saheeh International
-
88:9
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌۭ ٩
LisaAAyiha radiya
pleased with their endeavour,Ali Quli Qarai
With their effort [they are] satisfiedSaheeh International
-
88:10
فِى جَ
نّ َةٍ عَالِيَةٍۢ ١٠Fee jannatin AAaliya
in a lofty garden,Ali Quli Qarai
In an elevated garden,Saheeh International
-
88:11
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَ
ٰ غِيَةًۭ ١١La tasmaAAu feeha laghiya
where they will not hear any vain talk.Ali Quli Qarai
Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.Saheeh International
-
88:12
فِيهَا عَيْ
نٌ ۭج َارِيَةٌۭ ١٢Feeha AAaynun jariya
In it is a flowing springAli Quli Qarai
Within it is a flowing spring.Saheeh International
-
88:13
فِيهَا سُرُ
رٌ ۭم َّرْفُوعَةٌۭ ١٣Feeha sururun marfooAAa
and raised couches,Ali Quli Qarai
Within it are couches raised highSaheeh International
-
88:14
وَأَكْوَا
بٌ ۭم َّوْضُوعَةٌۭ ١٤Waakwabun mawdooAAa
with goblets set,Ali Quli Qarai
And cups put in placeSaheeh International
-
88:15
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌۭ ١٥
Wanamariqu masfoofa
and cushions laid out in an array,Ali Quli Qarai
And cushions lined upSaheeh International
-
88:16
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَ
بْ ثُوثَةٌ ١٦Wazarabiyyu mabthootha
and carpets spread out.Ali Quli Qarai
And carpets spread around.Saheeh International
-
88:17
أَفَلَا يَ
نظ ُرُونَ إِلَىٱ لْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ ١٧Afala yanthuroona ilaal-ibili kayfa khuliqat
Do they not observe the camel, [to see] how it has been created?Ali Quli Qarai
Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?Saheeh International
-
88:18
وَإِلَى
ٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ ١٨Wa-ila assama-i kayfarufiAAat
and the sky, how it has been raised?Ali Quli Qarai
And at the sky - how it is raised?Saheeh International
-
88:19
وَإِلَى
ٱ لْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ ١٩Wa-ila aljibali kayfa nusibat
and the mountains, how they have been set?Ali Quli Qarai
And at the mountains - how they are erected?Saheeh International
-
88:20
وَإِلَى
ٱ لْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ ٢٠Wa-ila al-ardi kayfa sutihat
and the earth, how it has been surfaced?Ali Quli Qarai
And at the earth - how it is spread out?Saheeh International
-
88:21
فَذَكِّرْ إِ
نّ َمَآ أَنت َ مُذَكِّرٌۭ ٢١Fathakkir innama anta muthakkir
So admonish—for you are only an admonisher,Ali Quli Qarai
So remind, [O Muḥammad]; you are only a reminder.Saheeh International
-
88:22
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْه
ِم ب ِمُصَيْطِرٍ ٢٢Lasta AAalayhim bimusaytir
and not a taskmaster over them—Ali Quli Qarai
You are not over them a controller.Saheeh International
-
88:23
إِلَّا مَ
ن ت َوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ٢٣Illa man tawalla wakafar
except him who turns back and disbelieves.Ali Quli Qarai
However, he who turns away and disbelieves –Saheeh International
-
88:24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ
ٱ للَّهُٱ لْعَذَابَٱ لْأَكْبَرَ ٢٤FayuAAaththibuhu Allahu alAAathabaal-akbar
Him Allah will punish with the greatest punishment.Ali Quli Qarai
Then Allāh will punish him with the greatest punishment.Saheeh International
-
88:25
إِ
نّ َ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ ٢٥Inna ilayna iyabahum
Indeed to Us will be their return.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, to Us is their return.Saheeh International
-
88:26
ثُ
مّ َ إِنّ َ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم ٢٦Thumma inna AAalayna hisabahum
Then, indeed, their reckoning will lie with Us.Ali Quli Qarai
Then indeed, upon Us is their account.Saheeh International
