بِسْمِ
-
91:1
وَ
ٱ ل شَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰ هَا ١Washshamsi waduhaha
By the sun and her forenoon splendour,Ali Quli Qarai
By the sun and its brightnessSaheeh International
-
91:2
وَ
ٱ لْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰ هَا ٢Walqamari itha talaha
by the moon when he follows her,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the moon when it follows itSaheeh International
-
91:3
وَ
ٱ ل نّ َهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰ هَا ٣Wannahari itha jallaha
by the day when it reveals her,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the day when it displays itSaheeh International
-
91:4
وَ
ٱ لَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ هَا ٤Wallayli itha yaghshaha
by the night when it covers her,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the night when it covers [i.e., conceals] itSaheeh International
-
91:5
وَ
ٱ ل سَّمَا ٓءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰ هَا ٥Wassama-i wama banaha
by the sky and Him who built it,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the sky and He who constructed itSaheeh International
-
91:6
وَ
ٱ لْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰ هَا ٦Wal-ardi wama tahaha
by the earth and Him who spread it,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the earth and He who spread itSaheeh International
-
91:7
وَنَفْ
سٍ ۢو َمَا سَوَّىٰ هَا ٧Wanafsin wama sawwaha
by the soul and Him who fashioned it,Ali Quli Qarai
And [by] the soul and He who proportioned itSaheeh International
-
91:8
فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَ
قْ وَىٰ هَا ٨Faalhamaha fujooraha wataqwaha
and inspired it with [discernment between] its virtues and vices:Ali Quli Qarai
And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,Saheeh International
-
91:9
قَ
دْ أَفْلَحَ مَن ز َكَّىٰ هَا ٩Qad aflaha man zakkaha
one who purifies it is felicitous,Ali Quli Qarai
He has succeeded who purifies it,Saheeh International
-
91:10
وَقَ
دْ خَابَ مَن د َسَّىٰ هَا ١٠Waqad khaba man dassaha
and one who betrays it fails.Ali Quli Qarai
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].Saheeh International
-
91:11
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَ
ىٰ هَآ ١١Kaththabat thamoodu bitaghwaha
The [people of] Thamud denied [Allah’s signs] out of their rebellion,Ali Quli Qarai
Thamūd denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,Saheeh International
-
91:12
إِذِ
ٱ نۢب َعَثَ أَشْقَىٰ هَا ١٢Ithi inbaAAatha ashqaha
when the most wretched of them rose up.Ali Quli Qarai
When the most wretched of them was sent forth.Saheeh International
-
91:13
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ
ٱ للَّهِ نَاقَةَٱ للَّهِ وَسُقْ يَٰ هَا ١٣Faqala lahum rasoolu Allahi naqataAllahi wasuqyaha
The apostle of Allah had told them, ‘This is Allah’s she-camel, let her drink!’Ali Quli Qarai
And the messenger of Allāh [i.e., Ṣāliḥ] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allāh or [prevent her from] her drink."Saheeh International

91:14
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّه
ُم ب ِذَنۢب ِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰ هَا ١٤Fakaththaboohu faAAaqaroohafadamdama AAalayhim rabbuhum bithanbihim fasawwaha
But they impugned him and hamstrung her. So their Lord took them unawares by night because of their sin, and levelled it.Ali Quli Qarai
But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].Saheeh International

91:15
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُ
قْ بَٰ هَا ١٥Wala yakhafu AAuqbaha
And He does not fear its outcome.Ali Quli Qarai
And He does not fear the consequence thereof.Saheeh International
